Let me preface this by saying our wedding weekend was absolutely amazing. The Crane Cottage venue was exactly what we wanted, and our onsite staff were mostly amazing (particularly Adrianne, who went above & beyond)! That said, the communication leading up to the wedding was … tough. We had to send several follow up emails to every correspondence, and often had to call to get our questions answered. They were not forthcoming about important details unless we asked and several big misses happened throughout the process when they were pretty much MIA. If you have a wedding planner, this is okay - they’ve seen it all. But if you’re planning your own wedding… this is not one of those venues that makes everything easy for you.Again, our wedding weekend ended up being perfect - like out of a freakin magazine. But it was a bit of a bumpy road to get there. Reviewed on 14-07-2023

Anna Gibbs(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-03-2021 I had a dream wedding here at the Crane Cottage. Cates was truly an amazing planner and thinks of everything. The venue is absolutely breathtaking. One thing I loved was that you get to stay at the Crane Cottage so it feels so private and everything is right there. All my friends and family constantly talk about how amazing the wedding was. We also played crochet the day before on the lawn and it was a blast! The only negative was the wedding steaks were a tad overdone. Also, it is great to use all areas of the venue. The garden for the ceremony, the front lawn with reflection pool for cocktail hour, the middle courtyard for dinner and cake, and the inside lobby for dancing. Truly could not have dreamt of a better wedding venue. Reviewed on 01-07-2022

Kelley Parker(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-05-2021 We had our wedding at Crane Cottage at the Jekyll Island Club, and it was simply magical. We had an incredible weekend with family and friends and the location was just perfect. Patty and Cricket were amazing to work with and so kind and understanding of the many changes (we had to postpone due to COVID). Patty was our day-of coordinator and she was incredible and so kind with both families and making sure the every detail was taken care of. Jekyll Club is a special place, we highly recommend it! Kayla Tucker(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-04-2021 The venue and location were absolutely perfect. The team was amazing to work with from start to finish. We had to change our date 3 times (thanks covid), and they were willing to work with us on all changes. We took our guest on a dolphin tour from the wharf, where the JIC brought down iced champaign and cups. We held our welcome party at the beach pavilion, and wedding ceremony/ reception on the riverfront lawn. The attention to detail was amazing. We felt so loved and special, and the day was truly a fairy tale. Reviewed on 26-04-2021
Chelsey Dager(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-12-2020 I cannot say enough good things about this place. First, it was a fairytale setting during Christmas. Straight out of a Hallmark movie! The lights they do are absolutely gorgeous. Secondly, I love that every wedding event I had was walking distance so no one had to drive. Everyone could walk to the Chapel for the ceremony, walk to the Morgan Center for the reception and then could walk back to their hotel room. I love the history on Jekyll Island too. Super interesting and fun to learn about. The cottages/houses/resort/etc. are so adorable. Truly something to see! If it wasn't pretty enough, just add the beautiful water surrounding it and it is just absolutely magical. Lastly, I love how the employees there are not just employees. This is home to them. Most of them have been working there for years and coming to Jekyll Island with their families since they were kids. They truly Jekyll Island and their guests. Super BIG shoutout to Cricket and Patty, the wedding coordinators for us. They were so unbelievably helpful, patient, kind and just completely awesome all around! The venue is very fairly priced and it includes a lot. Including day of coordinators which was super helpful! The entire wedding was beautiful and all of my guests said it was such a magical place to have a wedding. My husband and I cannot wait to go back for our anniversary and hopefully one day with our kids! Reviewed on 20-12-2020
Kate Spencer(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2019 The venue and location are stunning. The restaurant food and our reception food was quite delicious - we hand picked our entire menu to be served and they were very accommodating. Our guests STILL talk about how awesome our reception buffet was. I will say we had some last minute additions and change ups for our wedding ceremony and reception (outside to inside) and JICR was quick to help us out. Our rehearsal dinner food wasn't as good - we had 20+ people with steaks and salmon and they were all supposed to be prepared rare to medium-rare and the majority came out well done. We were refunded for this and we appreciate that. There is a the lack of organization and communication when it came to the execution on our wedding day. We were out of state and we did a lot of emailing. When it came to our wedding day, there were some hiccups that none of our guests noticed but some of our decorations were not displayed or were not placed appropriately. We were told some things were complimentary but then we were billed for them. When we tried to check-in for our suite they tried to double bill us even though the cost was included with our wedding package. We had a horrendous time getting all of our friends/family rooms at the hotel because there was a huge lack of communication between rooms being booked and being associated with our wedding guests. We ended up having to have guests stay at the sister hotel because of room booking failures on Jekyll Island Club Resorts end. Lastly, there was a last minute timing change made by our coordinator but it wasn't handled well and it caused a lot of stress. Overall, it was a nice day and a lovely venue. If I had to do it over again, I would want a wedding planner to handle the hassles we dealt with and to ensure proper execution of the details we care about. Reviewed on 08-12-2020
Madeleine Sosebee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-10-2020 Wow, I don’t know where to begin. Everything—from our first visit to the actual day of the wedding—was an absolute dream. My now husband had visited once before and thought I would love it, so he took me while we were in the process of touring venues. He was right, I loved it from the first moment we pulled up. We just knew that “our spot” was under the oak trees on the Riverfront Lawn. We worked with Patty and Rachel throughout the planning process and there are no words to explain how terrific these two ladies are. We were supposed to get married in early May, but then Covid happened and we had to reschedule for October (which turned out to be perfect). They held my hand and guided us through unchartered waters, as we pretty much planned two weddings (our original date and the new date). They thought of EVERYTHING and then some...I know this team went well above and beyond to make our day perfect, plus they were always just an email away if I had a question. Needless to say, our wedding day was absolutely perfection and seamless in every way. Patty coordinated our day and to say she has her ducks in a row would be a huge understatement; I don’t believe I have ever seen an event run so calm and smoothly. I truly have the utmost respect and appreciation for them and their team. We also worked with Cheryl the weekend of for catering and she was so incredibly sweet and helped ensure that everything was just as we wanted. All of the staff during the reception made us feel like family (as does all the staff on the grounds). We are just so blown away by the whole experience. Lastly, but certainly not least, the venue itself is second to none. As I mentioned previously, our ceremony was at sunset on the Riverfront Lawn under the live oaks and was completely breathtaking. Our reception was in the Federal Reserve Room located in the front on the main clubhouse building. The beauty and history of the grounds paint a surreal backdrop for a wedding. Each time we have visited, I always feel there is something about The Jekyll Club that is unlike anything else on this earth (and I have traveled quite a bit); you feel as if you step back in time and you get to experience life in its purest form. That being said, I don’t think that there are words or even photographs that can accurately depict magic that this place exudes. It is just something you must experience for yourself. Lisa Hamilton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-02-2019 I cannot say enough nice things about Jekyll Island Club Resort! My husband and I had not one, but two weddings and receptions at the Crane Cottage (Hindu & Western Ceremonies) on February 9, 2019. The Jekyll team accommodated almost every request and made the weekend perfect. The venue is absolutely breathtaking and the planning process is a dream! I highly recommend the Jekyll Club as your destination wedding spot. Our guests traveled from across the US & were so impressed by the Spanish Moss, easy bike to the beach and the historic cottages. It's also so nice that the whole family and wedding party can stay together for the weekend. We had our welcome dinner at the Ocean Club, while the rest of the Weekend was at Crane. Jekyll even last minute got their island van to transport our families from Crane to the Ocean Club for the welcome dinner. Again, Cates and her team are so lovely to work with & Jekyll is beautiful. We truly couldn't have asked for a better wedding. Reviewed on 19-03-2019
Ashley Lin(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-11-2018 I waited 7 years and traveled across the country to find my wedding venue. I finally pulled the trigger and decided to get married here at Jekyll Island Club Resort after seeing their beautiful ground and lush lawns. Honestly, it's the trees with the spanish moss that did me in. I was so excited to say yes because I had finally found a place that I thought was naturally beautiful. However, once we signed the contract, the entire process from start to finish was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Their customer service, ability to keep dates and times straight, as well as being able to even read e-mails with information and transpose it correctly was just shockingly unprofessional as well as their total lack of attention to details, in general, was abhorrent. It was honestly my own grit, and hard work that made the wedding pull through (or even happen) at the end, and none of their own. The weddings with the club resort along with their preferred vendors seem to run on this \"trust us, you'll love this\" concept, instead of being able to ever provide concrete proof with examples and photographs, take actual notes of what their client wants, or even execute anything professionally. If you book one of their wedding packages like I did, you find out that if you don't hit a certain number of guests that even if you say were expecting the grand ballroom, in the end, you can still pay the same amount for that venue, and get shoved into their mustard yellow tiny conference room in the corner. It was honestly a vendor take all situation where they made it clear that I could either cancel the wedding and pay my bill entirely or I could take what they give me and that was that. My entire wedding planning process up until the wedding day with Jekyll Island Club Resort was an absolute nightmare that I literally rushed to get through. In hindsight, my only regret is that I didn't cancel the wedding the day of because my biggest fears of walking into a wedding where I hate every last photo because the flowers that delivered by their \"number one floral vendor\" couldn't execute what I asked for properly and the hideousness of the reception rooms can't be unseen or edited in any sort of photo. I ended up being so upset that I rushed through the entire day just to get it over with. In hindsight, I would have been doing myself a favor and walked away instead of going through with a subpar wedding from hell with vendors and a venue that genuinely didn't care and was just truly there to turn a profit. Alyssa Garner(other)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-09-2018 Overall, I was dissatisfied with the overall Jekyll Island club resort experience. I would not recommend a wedding at this venue. We did enjoy the time that we spent over at the Ocean club and felt that the service was to the standard we expected. We had a wedding at the Crane cottage and were very disappointed with the quality of the staff interactions we had. We rented out the entire crane cottage for the wedding and did not have a go to staff member to get prompt answers to questions from. We were told her person was contracted at 2 PM and they were not available to help us prior to the event. They should have had coffee and water always available for our guest in the lobby of the Crane cottage. There were actually several staff members on golf carts that refused to give some of our guest transportation over to the main inn. The wedding coordinators were not as a expected and did not provide us with the quality of service for this type of venue. I would not recommend to future brides having their wedding at the crane cottage. For the cost of this venue we did not receive a quality experience. My sister was the bride. The wedding coordinator who was responsible for the band we had come from Atlanta did not read the fine print of the contact and ensure that we had a tent available for the band when the band arrived at the venue. This provided for a very stressful experience as the band member was looking at myself- the maid of honor for answers. I was not able to enjoy the time with my sister while she was getting ready as the coordinators who were not available until 2 PM. I was then told that there was not a tent available on site and that there were no tent rentals available on backup. Having an event this large the Jekyll Island club should have had a tent company on back up for this type of situation. We were also brought hot bottle of champagne to have with her mimosas- Very disappointing. Reviewed on 01-10-2018

My wedding was just a dream come true and we loved everything about Jekyll Island and the Club resort. We worked with Kayla in Sales and Rachel in catering. My biggest fear was the cost escalating and getting surprise charges and sub par service on the day. (Mainly due to reviews on here). This did not happen at all! Me and my husband got married here October 14, 2017 at the Cherokee Cottage. It truly was a perfect day -- very much because of the hard work and service of the Jekyll Island Club Resort staff. Our wedding coordinator, Jessica, worked with us from the beginning and was extremely kind and helped up make our day exactly what we wanted. I was very fearful of the weather being bad that day, but she was comforting and offered great advice and alternatives (which we did not have to end up using because the weather was perfect). The food was amazing, the best wedding food I have ever had (and what all of the guest were saying!). This was a destination wedding, and the staff at Jekyll club really did help above what was expected and offered many resources to booking the DJ/florist/etc. You can do it \"all-inclusive\ Reviewed on 23-10-2017
Rebecca Ponders(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2017 To begin, I absolutely loved our wedding. It was beyond beautiful! However, the process of getting there was excruciatingly painful. It is my firm believe that the word \"yes\" is not part of the Jekyll Island event planning's vocabulary. They in no way made the process enjoyable and it was through pure grit and determination that our wedding turned out so well. Upon reflection, we are two months out from the big day, I feel that there is a lot about the attitude of thee event planning staff that needs to fundamentally change. They seem to not enjoy the wedding planning process and have zero tolerance for the many unique quirks and desires of a bride, groom, and their families. My thoughts are if you don't like weddings and can't handle the stress of working with brides them please find a new job. It is time for the upper levels of management at JIC Atl take a firm look at their event planning department and consider exactly how they run their business, because when I tell you that working with the JIC event planning staff was one of the most stressful exhausting and patience wearing experiences of my life, I am not exaggerating, it was a pretty darn horrific experience. The venue is gorgeous, but planning a wedding should be FUN, not full of exasperation because at every turn you are told NO by those you are paying QUITE a lot of money to, to have your wedding day look and run as you wish. Additionally, despite multiple emails and phone calls to confirm our guests were served the incorrect type of beef. Additionally, if wedding cake is important to you at all stear clear of JIC. We had three tastings. During tasting number one each bite of cake took a glass of water to swallow. During tasting number two each bite of cake took half a glass of water to swallow. By the third tasting we were just fed up. We were assured that on the day the cake would be excellent and that the JIC cake tastings never went well. That was a major falsehood. Additionally, I was given a preview of the cakes on the big day just before the ceremony. Fortunately I had already had a little champagne the smooth the edges, the wedding cake looked nothing like it was supposed to plus it had the world's most disgraceful icing patch job right in the middle of the second layer. Literally it was the ugliest wedding cake I have EVER seen in my life and it didn't taste any better. The grooms cake was supposed to be in our wedding colors, we even provided swatches of the colors for the pastry Chef (and seriously I think saying chef at this point is a bit of the disgrace to all the wonderful chefs out there in the world), the only thought I can come up with as to how those colors ended up on the grooms cake is that the pastry staff is colorblind. Additionally, there was an icing mishap with the grooms cake as well, one whole side had the icing swiped off. So in short if you want to enjoy your wedding planning process and treasure the taste and look of your wedding cake run FAR FAR away from the Jekyll Island Club. Reviewed on 29-05-2017
Brittany Nettleton(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2017 I don't even know where to start with this hotel management. I understand people may make mistakes, but a mistake as big as over booking somebody's wedding weekend? Seems a little important to me, the bride, who drove her whole family 5-6 hours to see the place. They offer in their package wedding coordinating, but they don't execute it. However, my problems began with Jessica Shell in the catering department. She constantly lost or misplaced my emails regarding the details of the wedding. She tried to slip in charges on our bill for items that were free of charge. She would change it, but then she would add another charge in somewhere else. I could go on and on. The day of the wedding, she got my cake wrong after sending multiple pictures and details. It was even missing an entire layer. They didn't set up the reception with our family photos. They left them in a box in the next room, well aware they were to be placed on the fire places. They tried to switch out the design layout the day of the wedding and my bridesmaids and I had to run around to fix it. They never set up our cigar bar. The list goes on and on. Our guests loved it, they all got to be together we without other guests coming in and out, it was perfect. We had our rehearsal dinner on the lawn at cherokee Friday night, had breakfast set up for our guests Saturday morning in the living room at Cherokee, played croquet and had lunch on the Croquet Lawn followed by the ceremony in the Crane Garden, the reception in the Crane Courtyard and the reception right outside on Crane. The following morning we had brunch on the riverfront lawn. We really got to get a taste of everything Jekyll had to offer and it was all amazing. The food was unbelievable and our guests couldn't stop talking about it. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everyone had what they wanted and needed. The efficiency level they operate at amazed me considering we were always moving from one place to another for each different event of the weekend. Our guests loved every moment and still can't stop talking about all the little details and how beautiful everything was.\r\rThe venue, food and staff are amazing!
