Kincaid Outdoor Center Reviews
Jacob Wilson(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-07-2017 The Kincaid Chalet worked great for our 150 person wedding ceremony and reception. The price was right, we could bring in our own catering and alcohol, the venue has tables for no additional charge, and the staff was available to answer our many questions. I took one star off though, because I was originally planning on having a rooftop wedding ceremony, but the Kincaid staff put up black cyclone fencing along the railings on the roof one month before my wedding. It is so ugly, I decided to move my ceremony location elsewhere. The next best spot was on the grass outside the chalet, but a prior rental had ruined the grass out front with a slip and slide. So, I ended up having the ceremony on a turf field nearby, which totally worked and was unique since we both met playing soccer. One thing to note is that Kincaid will rent out space all in the same vicinity to multiple people per day, so we had other events going on before ours. This wasn't a big deal, but our wedding ended up on a really rainy day, and we were unable to move the full event inside because of the other rentals that day. So, we had the ceremony and yard games outside anyhow, and only the reception was indoors. Also, you have to be out by 11pm, which is tough when your guests are having fun. You get what you pay for though. This is a multi-use municipal park, and these things happen. As long as you're willing to adapt to last minute changes, this venue is perfect for the price. The indoor reception in the chalet worked great. Overall, the staff was friendly and the experience was good. Reviewed on 12-07-2017
Anonymous (bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-06-2014 The location was easy to work with, easy to get to, great for guest parking and the pictures are awesome! Only draw backs are that you do have to be out of there by 11/11:30 - so no partying into the night and it is not a 'full' kitchen, so you have to work with your caterer on the menu (the food was still amazing though). Bring your own stuff to clean up with (broom, etc) to make sure you don't incur any cleaning costs but trust me, the pictures you'll get at this locale are amazing - and your guests will thank you for picking a venue they don't have to pay to park at :-) Reviewed on 09-07-2014
Holly Fisk(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-03-2012 You get what you pay for- like panoramic views of the chugach peaks and sleeping lady and Cook Inlet...chance to use your own vendors for food and beer/wine..but with some ugly fluorescent lighting and some 80's decor. Also, being owned by the municipality of Anchorage, the alcohol permit process is a little cumbersome, and with all of Mayor Sullivan's budget cuts, you never know quite when the chalet will be open. Overall, I found this to be a great bang for your buck, and the chalet has character perfect for a super casual or a semi-formal wedding! Reviewed on 11-04-2012
Katie Kubly(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-09-2011 The park is gorgeous and you get a beautiful view of the sunset with all the windows, just be aware that most of the people working the office aren't permanent employees (especially in the summer) and can be a bit difficult to work with. It's also difficult to get a hold of them when you have questions about tables, chairs, etc., so make a list and ask them all at once when you finally do talk with somebody. Be aware that if you intend to serve alcohol you may need to calculate another $500 into your expenses as you have to pay for a municipality liquor license AND get additional liability insurance, your caterer will also have to cook offsite and bring it in as the \"kitchen\" is just more of a prep/holding area. I would recommend talking to Steve during the process since he's the one in charge. All in all though it was a great time and any of the nuisances were redeemed by the all tile floor, ability to not have to overdecorate, and overall beautiful park. We fit 150 guests which was a tad tight and had to move a couple tables for the dance area, but it went off without a hitch. We just love Kincaid so much that we were really happy to have our reception there! Reviewed on 07-10-2011
Jessica Dunn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2011 This windowed assembly room was perfect for about 100 guests. There were mountain views a bar area and lots of natural light! Reviewed on 28-06-2011
