La Cour Venue Reviews
Amelia R(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-12-2022 We had our wedding at La Cour Venue in Dec 2022. The venue is so beautiful and well-kept. We had many comments from our guests about how perfect the space was for the wedding. We had about 100 guests and a live band. Due to cold weather, we had to move the entire reception inside. I was initially anxious about the small size, but La Cour made it work! Andrea was so professional, responsive, and easy to work with. We felt like she went above and beyond to make everything easy and stress-free. The venue provides many cute decor items and other amenities that helped keep our planning simple. We ONLY had 2 issues that made the logistics of our wedding day a bit difficult. (1) There is no groom's suite, only a bridal suite. Therefore, we had to coordinate getting dressed off-site. (2) The venue is only available for 10 hours on the day of the event. Therefore, our vendors had very little time to set up/decorate etc... Otherwise, this is a wonderful place to get married and we were very happy with our choice to spend our special day at La Cour! Reviewed on 18-01-2023
Roland W(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-10-2022 We recently hosted our son's rehearsal dinner at La Cour. An incredible property with outdoor courtyard, garden, patio, bar area, and indoor space for 120+ seated. Extremely easy to work with and on the day of the event strived to do whatever to make it a success. We received so many positive comments. It could not have been better. Highly recommend! Kacy Maddox(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2021 La Cour provided the most beautiful/easy experience and setting for both our wedding ceremony and reception. Our wedding was late May, and the trees and plants were in full bloom! Amy and Mia could not have been more helpful. We did end up adding an additional hour to our rental time (we did all of the setting up ourselves), and it was absolutely perfect. Loved it and them! Reviewed on 27-06-2021
Tejshri Gohel(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-05-2021 I could not recommend La Cour Venue enough. Last minute, we decided to book a venue for our \"small\" Covid wedding. As more people were vaccinated, our guest count grew, and La Cour was always there to accommodate our many last minute changes. The venue itself is such a beautiful, charming, and picturesque area to have a wedding. All of the areas provided unique photo ops for our many events! Amy and the rest of her team are so incredibly professional, caring, and responsive! It was exciting for us to host our wedding with La Cour Venue and see the staff just as happy for us. We cannot thank them enough for all the accommodations and good wishes! Reviewed on 20-06-2021
Ali Bachellor(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-05-2021 La Cour was absolutely amazing to work with! Planning a wedding this past year has been a little more difficult with the constant changes with the pandemic, but Amy was always so helpful and flexible with us. They set up multiple tour times for us (via facetime, phone calls, and in person) and always responded quickly to all of our questions. The venue was beautiful and we got so many compliments the whole evening and in the last two weeks! We loved working with La Cour and couldn't have been happier with how our night went! Karissa Freeman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2020 We cannot say enough great things about La Cour Venue. First, the property was breathtakingly beautiful. It had everything we wanted: an outdoor ceremony area that leads to a wide wooden arch surrounded by trees, a courtyard that astonishes you with brick walls and string lights, and a dining hall with a high ceiling, more brick walls, and dark wooden farm tables. Their wedding package strikes the right balance between all-inclusive and DIY. We loved that we didn't have to rent tables and chairs but at the same time have the flexibility to hire our own caterers and bring our own cake. We also loved that you have the option of having your ceremony and/or reception either indoor or outdoor.Perhaps even more deserving of praises than the venue itself was its owner, Amy Teague. From the moment we had our first meeting to the lockdown announcement due to COVID-19 and finally our wedding day, Amy was professional and accommodating. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. From the beginning, you get the sense that she thoroughly understands the “business” aspect of weddings, but more importantly, you can tell that her heart is in bringing dream weddings to life. She genuinely cares about all her brides and does what she can to lessen the load for them. When the pandemic hit, Amy responded to all my messages promptly and even helped me and my now-husband process everything as realistically as possible. She even suggested that we reserved an “emergency date” – with NO extra fees – should the wedding ban not be lifted by our date, which was May 29th. The day before Governor Abbott lifted the ban, I, my sister, my day-of coordinator, and Amy met at the venue for final planning and to develop a contingency plan. We talked about cutting down our guest list, establishing social distancing guidelines for attendees, and other issues that may come up in case the governor did lift the restrictions. When the governor allowed weddings the following day, we were practically ready to go.While we hired our own photographer, we ended up hiring two of La Cour’s preferred vendors: Blue Mesa Grill and HD Liquid Catering. We did not hire a DJ, since our wedding was small, and we really wanted to create a more DIY and intimate feel. Though not required, I highly recommend choosing some of La Cour’s preferred vendors for easier and “almost” stress-free planning: (1) they will have already worked at the venue and thus will be familiar with its policies; (2) La Cour will already have their insurance on file; and (3) you can guarantee they have great reviews and will do an excellent job at your wedding. Because these vendors had great relationships with La Cour, wedding planning during the pandemic became a lot more bearable. We truly felt blessed in the process.La Cour is best suited for smaller and more intimate weddings. The indoor reception hall fits 130 people, while the outdoor ceremony field fits 150. Our original party had 80 people, so it was perfect for our needs. In the end, we had about 35-40 people in the property. La Cour had a security officer and a venue manager for us on the day of the event; this was included in the package. Location was also a plus: far enough from all the city noise (it is surrounded by farms) yet less than a 10-minute drive from downtown McKinney, hotels, and restaurants. If this is the kind of wedding you have envisioned, then please consider La Cour Venue. Visit the property; you will not regret it! Reviewed on 21-11-2020
Michele Smith(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-05-2019 We celebrated my son's graduation party with our closest friends and extended family at La Cour, and simply couldn't have had a better time. Amy was just so wonderful to work with! During our planning meeting, Amy offered several setup suggestions for seating for our special kind of event, so of course they worked out great. When we arrived, the tables, lights and atmosphere exceeded our expectations! Amy took it upon herself to add several ourdoor games for the younger kids to play together, free of charge. It was an unexpected touch that really blew us away. We also chose to utilize one of her suggested vendors for an easy fajita meal, and the quality, service and taste were exceptional. Amy and her staff were on site throughout the party, her attention to detail were second to none. She made every possible effort to be sure that nothing would impact my son's celebration in any way. I just cannot say enough good things about Amy and La Cour. Every part of the layout of the building and grounds have been thought through so carefully to ensure that guests and events of all kinds are comfortable and accomodated flawlessly. One thing I really appreciated is that she asked us what kinds of tables and chairs we'd like to use, for no additional charge. I have already booked my second son's graduation party for 2022, and cannot wait to refer my friends and family to use her venue! Your event will be amazing if you use La Cour!! What an amazing venue! We were going to have our wedding in a small chapel in a small town because we didn't want a big city feel, nor did we want to break the bank....but then we were told about La Cour. We checked it out, and it was perfect. Cozy, nestled in the woods, but not a 2 hour drive from everywhere. Just 5-15 minutes from every restaurant and hotel you can think of, and we found out that quite a few out-of-state family members would be making the trip! We were able to bring in anything and everyone that we wanted to make our special day specifically ours. The venue has so many unique areas to utilize and Amy was a GEM, giving us ideas and options, and making it all so easy and stress-free. We received a lot of comments from our guests on how they loved the venue. And one item that you might think is important when having any of your activities outdoors: not one mosquito! Amy has her tricks to keep the bugs at bay. Highly, highly recommend! Reviewed on 07-11-2020

Christopher Blount(groom)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-05-2020 My now wife and I had a wedding scheduled at La Cour in May 2020. The date we chose was special to us. The venue could not host the wedding as we agreed to in May and refused to issue a refund due to their policies. They stated that COVID-19 was not their fault. We were bullied into either giving up all of our money or rescheduling to a date that had no meaning. We rescheduled as we paid the venue thousands of dollars. Unfortunately, COVID-19 impacted the second date, the ability for my family to travel, and we did not want to risk the health of our family and friends that were in the United States as cases continued to climb. I reached out to the venue in an attempt to let them know that we were desperately concerned about our family's health and wellbeing, that we've already experienced a death in the family during COVID, and that my father's side of the family could not travel from Europe to see us wed. We again requested a refund, even a partial refund, and the owner sharply declined and stated again that COVID-19 was not their fault, that we would have to make concessions to our plans, adjust our expectations, and that they could not give us our money back due to the contract and they could no longer change the date as they had to change personal plans and our lawyers settled on the date (yes we had to get lawyers involved). I have all of this in email writing from the venue. My wife and I were devastated by how impersonal and cold the venue owner Amy and her husband treated us. We were shocked because all of the reviews raved about them. She suggested to my wife that we just have a holiday party since we couldn't have a wedding. The owner didn't care about our weddingWe decided to hold a private wedding at our house. Thankfully, we have a large nice back yard which we decorated ourselves, we had our best friend marry us in our back yard and we streamed the wedding to all of our friends and family. It was beautiful, and we loved it. We are glad that we didn't get married at La Cour, the owners showed their true colors and we couldn't imagine getting married in such a tainted place. We have all of their correspondence documented in writing through saved emails. All of our other vendors gladly gave our money back or made adjustments.Frankly we're going to host a large one year anniversary party for the family and friends who couldn't be attend our home ceremony in person sometime in 2021 and we're going to rehire the vendors. We won't have it anywhere near La Cour. We'll have it at a much better and caring place. In the end La Cour took all of our money, and failed to give us anything aside from the safety deposit back. Their formal stance was that they could host a \"wedding\" but we would have to adjust our expectations such as total amount of people, vendors on-site, etc. When we did the math, checked the local and federal health guidelines, and spoke with our other vendors La Cour would not have been able to provide a COVID-19 safe wedding despite them saying they could. They couldn't even get event approval from the Mayor (which was required at the time) They didn't even offer a refund or concession for us adjusting our \"expectations\". In truth, we would have never been able to hold the wedding we agreed to at the venue, the venue knew that. My advice is to closely read your contract and let it be known that if anything unpredictable and frankly unimaginable as COVID-19 happens it will be strongly enforced with no sympathy. A Berry(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-05-2020 Brides, please do not pass this up as another \"COVID-19\" review. If you're reading this, I know that you are painstakingly looking for a venue to have your dream day. I strongly urge you to look elsewhere, so you don't have anywhere near the same horrible experience, as I did. I also want to point out, you should sort La Cour's reviews by date, and keep an eye on which reviews are from actual couples. I will try to keep this brief, but I won't be able fully describe the worst personal and professional experience I've ever had.My husband and I were to have our wedding in May2020. We had paid La Cour in full and early in Mar2020, 3wk prior to the lockdown in Texas. Amy at La Cour had assured us all would be well. Fast forward one month: Texas is in confirmed lockdown until 2 days prior to our wedding. We requested a partial refund (half the deposit which is the price of booking). Amy refused and said La Cour venue was not offering refunds of any kind for whatever reason. Amy begged, that if I could not have my wedding, to just have another party - Christmas, New Years, anything. It became very apparent she did not care about our wedding at all. Lawyers finally get involved. Multiple family members are calling us in tears. My husband and I decided the best was to reschedule, so another couple could take our date (we chose a very popular wedding date for this purpose). We let Amy know this - everyone wins, La Cour keeps their money, some happy couple gets a great date, and we don't have the stress of replanning a wedding. Amy flat out refuses, saying she had to cancel \"personal plans\" for our date which was still 4mo out. Our wedding date approaches, COVID-19 is soaring. La Cour instills rules without amending their contract. My husband's entire family cannot attend (all out of state/country) what La Cour kept referring to as the \"celebration of our marriage\". Family again calling in tears. My husband and I kept requesting safety and social distancing measures for La Cour's indoor venue specifically (it's very small), as the weather had been terrible with all of the hurricanes. We had a family friend pass due to COVID-19, so we were not messing around. They would not answer. Finally, a week before our event, they stopped responding to our emails completely. They ignored us a week prior and leading up to our event. The first time I met Amy she told me she \"babys\" her brides. Amidst all of this, I called her personally, in tears, telling her how miserable I was, my husband was, and family/friends were, and how I had wanted to avoid this by not rescheduling. She told me \"Sometimes you have to make decisions for your business.\" Brides, La Cour does not \"baby\" you or care about you, and you deserve a venue who does on your dream day. The venue is beautiful, the ceremony location is surrounded by lush trees and you truly feel like your in the middle of nowhere though your only about 5 min from downtown McKinney. I loved every space that this venue had to offer and wanted to utilize all of them. We had our ceremony outside, dinner indoors and dance floor in the courtyard under the cafe lights. It was perfect! But I don't, so instead you just get a little review here. The first time I walked into the courtyard to see the venue, I cried - and I stopped looking for venues. There was no point; this was the place I needed to marry my best friend. It is wildly unique, and is evident that so much thought and love went into building it. Each little nook of La Cour is beautiful - two outdoor ceremony sites (both excellent, though we chose the courtyard), a gorgeous indoor reception hall (with immaculate furniture, most of which was made by Amy herself), and lots of little spots for guests to take a deep breath if needed.Planning meetings were actually FUN with Amy because she gave practical advice and answered all my (stupid) questions with a smile. She is someone who deeply cares about the success of her clients' events and will go above and beyond to ensure the day is nothing short of perfect. The rental costs are fair, and if you're looking for something she does not have, she has a lot of great and reputable referrals. There are 3 areas to choose from on site for your ceremony (The Garden Area, The Courtyard, or Inside the French Venue). You don't just have to use one area, you can use the entire venue for your wedding (ceremony and reception). You don't need many decorations as everywhere you turn is so beautiful and picturesque. Amy the owner is hands down A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! She is so helpful and flexible for tours, to answering questions, to giving you vendor ideas and advice, to helping you make sure your Wedding Day is an I Do Dream Come True!
