The Lake Blackshear Resort is a beautiful venue that we used for our wedding ceremony. While planning our event, the staff was experienced, helpful, professional, and very attentive to any question or request we had. Genuinely, the staff here is excellent. If I was just reviewing the restaurant and the event staff, full five stars. We also intended to use it for our reception, however:While home for the holidays last winter, we were watching the local news and saw that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was shutting down most of the resort’s facilities due to structural flaws making them unsafe. Again, I had to hear this not from the venue, when they clearly knew something was going on, but from the local news. Communication about this was very poor, and four months before the wedding, we had to change the reception venue and all that that entails. Very frustrating, and shame on the management for letting the state of their “resort villas” for getting to such a poor state. Skimping out on something like that really shows where their priorities are.It’s really a lovely venue, but unless this spurred a change in the resort’s management, be cautious.

This Venue was great for my reception. It is located in an area where you do not have many options for an elegant event. It is on the lake which is great for pictures. I gave 4 stars due to having some technical issues when checking in to the resort on day before wedding.

My wedding was held in March next to the lake at Lake Blackshear Resort. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. The food was amazing and people are still talking about how great everything was. Even with a change in sales managers 2 months from the wedding everything turned out well. I didn't have to worry about anything on my wedding day as Brandy and her staff did an amazing job with setup.

We got married Oct 2, 2010 at Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding day!! These guys were so awesome and I didn't even have to be bothered with any last minute things, they handled it! The food was AMAZING and because they handled that end of things we didn't have to worry about looking for an outside service! They had a lot of options to choose from and the food quality was GREAT!
