The old school just down Leonard is now Leona Road. A modern event venue in Grand Rapids with weddings on the mind. The walls are the same but the stories they’ll tell are all new. Originally built in 1916 as West Leonard Elementary School and fully renovated in 2020-2021, Leona Road is a wedding and event venue with Scandinavian Modern styling from the experienced team behind The Cheney Place, Record Box Loft, Fringe Events and PUNCH Bar Catering. As the walls are packed with windows including a large bay along the natural wood’ barrel roof in the reception hall, the space is flooded with natural light that will look great in pictures. And with 19,000 square feet of indoor space dedicated to your event, a large outdoor terrace and free onsite parking, there is plenty of room to host your wedding for up to 300 guests. We are proud to include the following services to help plan your big day. 1) Design: We will meet with you to develop a custom floor plan for your event and would also be happy to schedule a meeting to assist with linen and tablescape options, 2) Event Setup: Setup tables and chairs and stage all personal decor, 3) Tear it Down: When your party is over, we’ll pack it all up and put everything in the boxes they came in, 4) Month and Day of Coordination: We’ll help plan your full timeline and coordinate the details with your vendors the week of your event. Our team will manage your event including ceremony, entrance, toasts and sendoff and will work closely with your vendors to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Leona Road was awesome. I can’t say enough about how amazing and professional this crew was!! Hannah was our day of coordinator and although we had a few hiccups (a power outage due to something on consumer energy’s end to the entire area), the owner of Leona Rd, Hannah, our photographer (Gauper photography) and videographers (Coastline Studios) pulled together to help make our night continue! We barely noticed it, even though that’s a pretty big thing to happen during your wedding! Leading up to the day they contacted us consistently making sure all of our needs were met and helped us with so many different areas, bringing up things I would never think about. Cannot say enough to recommend them! Thank you for making our wedding day so special :)

Leona Road was awesome. I can’t say enough about how amazing and professional this crew was!! We had a November 2023 Wedding and the staff was wonderful and so friendly. The whole process of setup and decision-making was made easy by the staff. The day-of coordinator took a ton of the stress off our shoulders and allowed us to enjoy the wedding and our special night. I can't thank them enough for the services they provide and the quality that they provide. Rachel found out during our final meeting I was a big swiftie and even though she wasn't working our event she made some friendship bracelets and gave them to our day coordinator to give me which was such a sweet gift! Also, a big deal breaker when we picked this venue was them allowing us to bring our dog to the ceremony so that she could be included, they were so helpful and kind to her and all the employees loved on her which made her day as the flower dog that much better with all the treats and belly rubs. The photo booth they have to offer was a big hit and everyone couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the venue was.

It's also wonderful if you are planning to have kiddos attend your special day. Parents can still be included and hear what's going on, while having their own private space off to the sides. 123% recommend the photo box! It's like having an additional photographer and you get the link to all the pictures a few days later. The quality of them is fantastic. Also, the extra lounge area by the dance floor is such a fun space for people who need a quick break or want to feel involved but aren't the biggest dancing fans. Truly a magical experience.

They asked so many great questions during meetings and handled all of the small details. We had the calmest day for our wedding because we knew they were in control. Colleen was our day-of coordinator and she was so pleasant and wonderful to work with. The space itself is gorgeous and massive - there is an outdoor terrace to use for cocktail hour and you can bring games for people to play, and the bridal suite was one of the biggest I've toured (it had 4 mirrors and a bathroom inside of it!). I had so many people come up to me throughout the night and say how beautiful it was. All of my vendors loved the space, too!

I cannot recommend Leona Road enough!!! It's clear to see from any photograph that the venue itself is stunning. Minimal decorations are needed since the space is so beautiful on its own. Because the owners were previously wedding photographers, they really thought of every detail - lots of natural light, a nice flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, a cute bridal suite, plenty of soft seating, the personalization of the sign out front, etc. What really sets this venue apart is the staff. Their knowledge and expertise with respect to all things wedding is incredible. Not to mention they are super helpful and friendly. From our design meetings with Abby (shoutout - she's amazing), to vendor recommendations, to answering my millions of questions via email between meetings, and all of the staff involved day-of (special thanks to our day-of coordinator, Colleen who is also a rockstar), everything was PERFECT. From a bride who planned the wedding in 6 months, I was sooo appreciative of all their support along the way!My only \"complaints\" are that I wish there was a groom's suite at the venue and our timeline was a little rushed at the end of the night (they ended all the festivities ~15 mins early, which isn't much but we were having the time of our lives and wanted to soak up every last second!).Also, book the photo booth!! You will not find one that looks as cool and they provide you with ALL of the images from the night. We had so much fun seeing our guests photo booth pictures for a different perspective on the night.This venue is definitely worth the investment :)

Our Daughters wedding was 8/12/2023, everything about Leona Road's staff & venue was \"PERFECT\". The venue itself is beautiful, the Staff were professional & extremely helpful, we didn't have to worry about anything. The bartenders were so pleasant, the food & cake was delicious, and everything ran smoothly, such a relief on a very important occasion. Our Wedding was 6/25/23!!BEST DAY EVER!! The venue was the perfect space for the amount of guests we had. Full layout was given my lovely day of coordinator COLLEEN was a god send I loved every second of my day & to have her right there helping me along the way was just the cherry on top. I’ll love her forever for that. Booked this venue 2 years in advance. Leona Road was still fairly new when we booked only coaching moments for the team I would say is to have a more inclusive list of preferred caterers. (which worked out in my favor) I actually found an outside caterer KJ Catering in GR, MI. Kathie at this company was bomb even got them added to the preferred list.Communication was a bit tough in the beginning as the only way to get in contact with someone was email which had a few days of turnaround before a response. Which is expected due to their weekends being busy with events. 10/10 definitely worth every penny !

My husband and I were drawn to Leona because of it's closeness to downtown GR and beautiful interior. It had has a unique, Scandinavian/boho charm that captures the character of the city. The ultimate deciding factor to use this venue was the gorgeous ceremony space. If you're looking to host an indoor wedding with the same location for ceremony & reception than this is the venue to do so! No makeshift curtain or divider is needed to imitate your ceremony area. This venue has you moving eloquently from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception. Your guests will love it. The coordinators at this venue are down-to-earth and so ready to help you plan your day. They answered all my emails promptly and kindly. A special shoutout to Abby for being our main coordinator and making our décor look better than we could have imagined. She made our big day stress free and her humor was appreciated. You will also love the natural lighting and exterior of the building for your wedding photos. The windows in the bridal suite and reception area allow soft lighting that makes for great photos. The last thing to rave about this venue is the fact that your coordinators setup and take down all of your décor! We got to enjoy the rest of our wedding night with our guests and worry about grabbing our items the next morning. If I had to give one critique about the venue, it would be that noise is echo-y. The space is very open so it is hard to hear things when everyone gets mingling. Overall though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Leona & their staff to any wedding couple!

Me and my new husband Matty are obsessed with Colleen! She was the greatest day of coordinator. The whole staff helped set up the space and worked with all the vendors so gracefully. She made sure to check in with us throughout the planning process and the day off. Everything was magical and where were in such good hands! I will forever brag about the quality of the venue and the staff that takes the places to the next level. The bridal suite made the getting ready process stress free. There was plenty of room for all the hair and makeup team, and the bridal party! Go see the venue, meet the staff and fall in love. It’s literally perfect!

The entire process was great, from planning and corresponding about details in the months before, to the space itself, and the help of the staff on our wedding day. The space is stunning. The staff is really nice and good and what they do. The photo booth and dance floor were super fun for everyone. We weren't stressed about anything on our wedding day, because it was such a positive experience and environment. We highly recommend Leona Road!

We recently used this venue for our 12/4/22 wedding and it was absolutely perfect!! The venue itself is so gorgeous and the staff was wonderful! We had Sarah as our day of coordinator and she was awesome! I was not as put together of a bride as I had wanted to be with my decorations but she took everything I had brought and made my wedding vision come to life! Also she was just super kind and friendly and I felt completely confident that she was taking care of everything day of along with my mistress of ceremonies.I would highly recommend this venue and staff!

We selected Leona Rd for our November 2022 wedding and we couldn't be more happy with our choice. The venue lost power 10 minutes before our ceremony and the staff went ABOVE & BEYOND to ensure our day was still perfect. Their team had generators at the venue within 30 minutes to get us back up and running. Although the full power never came back on, the staff went out of their way to get extra candles to bring a little light back into the space and make it feel extra romantic. They were so sweet throughout the entire day even with the unexpected power outage. We HIGHLY recommend Leona Rd and their team - best in Grand Rapids!

This venue is AMAZING!!!!The venue is so beautiful, and you really can make any vision come to life within the space. The staff was also INCREDIBLE! This venue is AMAZING!!!!The venue is so beautiful, and you really can make any vision come to life within the space. The staff was also INCREDIBLE! We were drawn to their vision, modern, cool, fun, incorporating old school style in a beautiful historic building. The owners have been in the industry for decades. Everything at the venue has a purpose. Their staff was amazing: quick and easy to reach, kind, supportive throughout the whole day. They have a great list of vendors who they trust and work with. If you have any questions leading up to the day or on the day of the wedding, they were happy to make things work or find solutions. All of our vendors absolutely loved this space. Our guests have continued to talk about it. The dance floor is nice and big. There is plenty of space for different friends or family members to either dance or find a quiet corner. We utilized every inch of the ceremony and reception area. It was the perfect place for us and couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you!!!

Everything is so well thought out and it is designed beautifully. Our guests (and ourselves) loved the size of it! We had the Photo Booth which turned out to be a hit. They also sent us a link to all of the pictures after the wedding so we could see them as well! The team at Leona was great. They answered all of our questions prior to wedding day and were very helpful. Our favorite part was that they set up and tore down all of our decor. It was so nice not having to set up or take down a single thing the day of! We definitely recommend (:

Our journey to find a wedding venue was a bit stressful, but once we found Leona Road it became so smooth. This place is the best. First, it’s beautiful and very accommodating to any color scheme that you want to have. It’s such a great backdrop. Second, it’s so spacious it allows your guests to spread out and not feel crowded. And third, the staff was great to work with! Very flexible and super helpful. We were so happy with this venue for our wedding day!

We couldn't have been happier with our wedding reception! Starting with the planning process, the staff was very communicative and helpful in putting our event together. They also took care of the majority of the setting up and tearing down so that all we needed to do was relax and enjoy on the wedding day.
