Gracing the rich hillsides in Mount Airy, MD, Linganore Winecellars provides a romantic wedding venue cloistered in the countryside. The largest winery in Maryland, the vineyard offers expansive grounds and capacious buildings that give couples an inviting space to add their own touch. The fertile terrain boasts fantastic vistas, creating a delightful and enchanting place for hosting wedding celebrations in any season.
Transforming the grounds of an old dairy farm to a vineyard in 1972, Linganore Winecellars has been passed down through generations. With this history, the location has a rich feeling of tradition. This 230-acre estate has gorgeous views and a peaceful pond which create a romantic backdrop for your festivities. Options include a banquet hall, the 4,500-square-foot Berrywine Pavilion, and the vineyard lawn, giving couples both indoor and outdoor event space options. Depending on which space within the winery couples choose, the space can host up to 200 guests.
While in a renovated 19th-century barn, Linganore Winecellars Abisso Banquet Hall exudes refinement. Featuring ceilings that reach up to 23 feet high, the hall is constructed with natural wood and exposed chestnut beams. This space is fully climate controlled and modernized for guests’ comfort. Large windows cluster the walls of the barn, adding the warmth of natural light to the already soft wood paneling, creating an inviting space. As a winery, this location simultaneously offers a dash of sophistication to the rustic barn locale, making it both sophisticated and homey.
Services include catering, a bar, and professional staff to keep guests happy. Modern and exquisite, their in-house caterer, Fine Cuisine, works with couples to create a custom menu styled to the pair’s tastes. For ceremonies, couples are provided with white chairs, including setup and breakdown services. Rental time for ceremonies in the winery is a half-hour, perfect for simple, dedicated vow exchanges. To thank guests and give them something to remember the evening by, the winery offers an optional package of custom wine labels and wine glasses. To host showers and rehearsals, they also have the Bacioni Room, which has been recently renovated for an extra dose of finesse. The winery also provides a selection of trusted vendors to couples for wedding planning ease.
Where to begin, the venue? Beautiful. The staff ? Incredible. Mary Beth and Chris are so knowledgeable and can be as hands on or as hands off as you would like them to be. I’m not exaggerating when I say I literally do not think I could have put my wedding together without Chris lol. The hall is incredible, we had just a hair over 140 guests and everyone fit very comfortably with lots of room for dancing and they also have an awesome wrap around porch as well as walk out green space so people can step in and out. The wine and beer selection was delightful and there is a lot to choose from, truly something for everybody. We got married this past Friday at the end of October and got lucky with an 80 degree day, our sneak peek photos are incredible with all of the fall color I mean it’s hard to take a bad photo here the views are great. The ceremony site on the hill photographs really well too with the vines and trees in the back. Wanted to give one more shout out to Chris too, best coordinator ever! Reviewed on 03-11-2023

As a former event planner and coordinator, I worked more than a hundred weddings at Linganore Winecellars. Both the outside ceremony site and the reception hall are gorgeous! The ceremony site overlooks the vineyards and is a great backdrop for photos. The hall has rustic elegant feel. It almost doesn’t need decor, but it can be dressed up or have a more relaxed feel. Mary Beth’s knowledge of the venue and background in catering make her an invaluable resource. The event staff is great to work with. If issues do arise the day of, I know I can count on them to help me make any accommodations that are needed. I highly recommend Linganore Winecellars to anyone planning a wedding. The grape vines looked majestic and the trees changing colors provided a wonderful backdrop. With rain in the forecast, staff provided us with plenty of spots to take pictures inside if needed - thankfully the weather held off and we were able to enjoy our ceremony on the beautiful hill overlooking the vineyard. Perfection only just begins to describe the amazing time that my wife and I had. Linganore was the perfect location and the staff did a tremendous job making sure that our wedding day was amazing. The wine was absolutely spectacular and the staff made sure our glasses were full all night!! Since we were having a fall wedding, Linganore served their Apple Wine warm and our guests absolutely loved it. I stuck to Black Raven and my wife to the Mango Sangria. Linda Frazier(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-08-2019 We loved Linganore Winecellars for our wedding venue. We opted for having an indoor ceremony and reception because of the heat of August. The Abisso Hall there is like a modern barn. It has extraordinary woodwork and beams and a beautiful floor. It's rustic yet with all the modern conveniences of air conditioning and elegant lighting. Plus you have access to use the rest of the venue for your ceremony and pictures etc. The venue event coordinator, Karen, was extremely kind and detail oriented and helped us to think of things we may have forgotten. Mackenzie Fontaine(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-06-2019 My wedding was SO beautiful at Linganore Winecellars. The food was fantastic and so many people commented on the views from the ceremony site. I do wish that they had a dedicated groom suite as my husband and his groomsmen were left to wander the venue with the rest of the public. The bridal suite was nice but lacking in the chair department. Keep in mind that the grounds/winery/brewery is open to the public during Linganore's posted hours. Our wedding didn't start until 30 minutes before closing so it wasn't a problem for us at all, but something to remember if you are going for a morning or midday time frame. Overall, absolutely perfect and I wouldn't change it for the world! Reviewed on 29-06-2019
Kristi Yadav(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-10-2018 The perfect venue to get married! Beautiful and rustic! Also, got many many compliments from guests on the venue! The only reason for no 5 star review is that the coordinator was at times hard to get in contact with and the contract sometimes was different than things that we were told by her. Also, they require you to use a certain caterer and the caterer (great food!) did not provide enough tablecloths of the color we requested so day of we were being called to ask what to do. We ended up with some tablecloths that were in our opinion terrible looking that the winery had sitting around. They did give us a refund for this mistake after the wedding! Even though these things were frustrating, things will go wrong at your wedding and this venue IS BEAUTIFUL! If you book this venue make sure to ask to get into the barrel room day of to take some photos. They make great shots! Reviewed on 15-11-2018

Everything throughout the wedding planning process and on the day of went so smoothly; they were so easy to work with. The venue is beautiful, and a key selling point for me was that they have beautiful outdoor AND indoor spaces, so we would have a nice setting regardless of weather. The Abisso Hall is so beautiful that very few decorations were needed; though adding ceiling string lighting really made the room look magical. The event coordinator, Mary Beth, was very professional and responsive. She replied to all emails promptly- and I sent a LOT! I was initially a bit concerned after reading many reviews that mentioned poor communication, but I was pleased to discover any previous issues had been resolved. Our on-site day-of manager, Brittany, was also wonderful. All staff checked on us frequently throughout the wedding day.We got married on a Friday, and the price was very reasonable. I do think we paid for a lot more alcohol than we used since they charge a flat rate for every adult (we didn't have a big drinking crowd). However, the reasonable costs for the space rental and other things balanced that out. They also have a caterer that they work very closely with, and Mary Beth is also the point of contact for them. It was nice to have everything go through one person.I highly recommend Linganore Winecellars! Reviewed on 21-05-2018

Melanie Lamb(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2015 We loved having our wedding at Linganore! Mary Beth worked with us on all the advance planning, answering our millions of questions along the way, and Chaz was our day of contact, making sure that everything went smoothly. Hurricane Joaquin hit the weekend of our wedding, and Linganore was very flexible with us. We moved the ceremony from the lawn to the pavilion and held our cocktail hour into the Abisso Hall. It wasn't ideal, but everything worked out in the end, and the staff ensured that our guests were taken care of. The biggest concern to think about with this venue is distance/road conditions to Frederick, where the nearest hotels are. The roads are windy and dark at night, which can be difficult whether you are providing transportation or not. Linganore works exclusively with one caterer, Fine Cuisine, but there is an option to pay extra and bring in a caterer of your choosing. We found the pricing for both to be very reasonable. Beer and wine must be provided by the winery and onsite brewery, and liquor is not allowed to be served, which was only a slight concern for us. Ultimately it cuts down on overall costs and guests still have a great time! All in all, I would definitely recommend Linganore for their beautiful grounds, rustic barn-style hall and friendliness of staff!
