Karen Joyce(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-01-2021 5 Stars and a Shout Out to Brandeis Catering and the Livestock Exchange on our daughter’s wedding 1/2/2021. (The only reason for delaying this post was so we could say with some certainty that no-one contracted COVID. The dedication to following CDC guidelines clearly worked!!!). Joe Thallas and his team, particularly Mary and Tracy, were awesome. They were all so gracious and allowed us to truly enjoy the party since they had such great control of the details. The food was awesome and the room was gorgeous. The planning was easy because of their extensive experience and we truly enjoyed the journey. This is an awesome wedding venue to consider!!!! They were extremely helpful and responsive to emails along the way. All of the staff were more than professional and were the kindest and most helpful staff we could have asked for on our wedding day. I'm so thankful how they helped us through what the day should look like, and how we should set up the room. They go above and beyond, and I would book them again in a heartbeat. I cannot recommend them enough. The venue is beautiful, and we had to decorate very little because the room was beautiful as is. Reviewed on 11-10-2023

This is a beautiful location and Joe Thallas is wonderful to work with. His staff are very helpful and care about every little detail. It is a classy place, real dishes, cloth tablecloths and napkins, it presents itself very well and does extra little things like has carts to assist in transporting your supplies to their ballrooms, willing to meet you at your convenience, has tripods you can use and table reservation signs. Haleigh Seizys(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-02-2023 Livestock Exchange was AMAZING. To begin, the venue itself is gorgeous, the pictures that we have gotten so far are beautiful with their large windows and amazing natural lighting. Both rooms have wonderful features. In one ballroom there’s a gorgeous balcony and in the other, the one we used, there was a stage. We were able to get married up on the stage and it was GORGEOUS. It took “stars of the show” to a whole new level on our big day. Second, the food was delicious. Brandeis Catering and Livestock Exchange Ballrooms come as a package deal and it’s the BEST package deal. Having them together took all the stress out of trying to find a caterer apart from finding a venue. There were a large amount of options for food. We had the option to select between 3 buffet packages or a plated dinner. We chose Buffet Package 1. Within that package, there were an insane amount food options. Everyone is still raving about the food even a month later. We also were provided with a space to have a snack bar during cocktail hour which was so great. Last and CERTAINLY not least, the staff was on another level of amazing. Everyone we encountered was so kind and eager to help. We felt so valued by everyone. Everyone seemed so happy to be there to help us celebrate. The bartenders and service staff left an impact on all of our guests. They helped make the best day better. The livestock exchange was also so so so affordable which is rare in the wedding planning industry. If you are looking through options, seriously do not look any further. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THERE FOR MAKING OUR WEDDING AMAZING!!! Reviewed on 22-03-2023

Lauren Owens(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-06-2021 I was blown away by my experience at the Livestock Exchange Building! Our experience started out strong from day one of touring the Livestock! The space feels grand and lives up to the timeless appeal. Not to mention it is was more budget-friendly than any other downtown/midtown venue we toured, which is a huge plus as wedding costs can get out of hand so quickly and to be able to save a few thousand dollars on the venue cost was amazing. The venue is conveniently located off of the Kennedy Freeway and was quick drive from our hotel in Blackstone. We were so excited for our food tasting and it did not disappoint! Brandeis Catering does all the food and they were willing to make adjustments to fit our tastes! Let's just say they pulled out all the stops for our food tasting. We decided to go more upscale plated dinner, but I felt know matter the budget they had options available for you! Joe was extremely accommodating to all of our requests! We were able to get in early to set everything up and Joe was there to assist us with everything we needed. It was great, as the bride, to get a sneak peek of the space before anyone else. The wedding party arrived right at the end of the cocktail hour and the staff had extra hors d'oeuvres set aside for us to enjoy at the head table! They were delicious!! <3The staff was so helpful when we were cutting the cake and helped us with anything we needed. Then we had dinner! Let me tell you it was the BEST wedding food I have ever had! I had so many of our guests come up and compliment how wonderful the food was! My mom also received tons of compliments on the food as well! People were blown away! The steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted outstanding! To say it was the PERFECT day was an understatement! Hannah Mergen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-02-2020 Our experience with Brandeis Catering (the company who coordinates everything related to renting the Livestock Exchange Ballroom), was wonderful from start to finish. I personally worked with Carolyn, she was knowledgeable, thorough, and reassuring. She understood I was a details person and was patient and very prompt with email responses. This company does primarily work with paper copy invoices, details worksheets, etc, but in the end I preferred this as lots of details can get lost in a million emails, one paper copy at the end that summarizes all their services for the day was so helpful. In terms of services, this company was the best I quoted and heard of from other bride’s/friends’ experiences at other venues. They provide all tables, chairs, napkins, table cloths, and everything related to Catering. They cut the cake! They also set up all these items PLUS items you bring in (I.e. welcome signs, seating charts, table numbers, etc). The staff was professional and present, they carried our plates at the reception which you don’t think is necessary until it happens, and it’s soo nice! It also helps that all other vendors you hire for the day are extremely familiar with the Livestock Exchange and there were no issues for pick up/drop off etc. Another plus, Carolyn contacted all our vendors and confirmed times, which was great peace of mind. Last thing, it’s drop dead gorgeous, can’t tell you how many compliments I received after my reception about the beauty of the room. Highly recommend. We used the North Ballroom, we had 30 tables, seating 10 each, and a long head table, cake table, and cocktail tables, two buffets, dance floor open all night, so need to take down tables, and it all fit comfortably and did not feel cramped at all. TERESA ROLL(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 I only take the time to leave a review because The Livestock Exchange venue helped us plan and enjoy a truly amazing event. I am so very grateful that I was actually able to enjoy my daughter's wedding rather than worry about who was doing what.Unless you are an event planner its hard to know what you are getting into until its over. I highly recommend The Livestock Exchange - from start to finish - they made the whole process easy to understand and affordable and took all the stress out of the venue planning. Why I loved this venue? It’s beautiful - and we didn't have to decorate, the room holds its own and they help you supplement the table decor.Location is great - right off the interstate.Plenty of parking and charm in the building atmosphere. You can save yourself money on the wedding planner because their staff know EVERYTHING including the things you will forget and they will cover with you to ensure a flawless reception. The food was AMAZING and we received many compliments from our guests. The tastings they offered were very helpful is picking the right menu. The room is set up perfectly for entertaining and we were so very pleased that our guests stayed late (around 11 pm) as they were having so much fun. The acoustics are great for the music but not too loud that you can have a conversation - so everyone stayed and enjoyed either dancing or talking to the very end. Make sure you check the acoustics at any event before you decide, it makes a huge difference. The room layout was perfect for our guests, it’s hard to know how many to plan for when you start looking but the room can size up or down and really was a perfect fit. We didn't have to do very much work to prepare for the reception - which is a huge help the day of the wedding so you can just enjoy preparing for the ceremony and then show up for the party after! After the event, we were beyond grateful that we didn’t have to spend hours cleaning and packing up stuff like the cake etc. Their staff had everything neatly packed and ready on carts – we were on the road 20 minutes after it was over, which was such a relief after a long day. They help you with the schedule and their years of experience help guide you with vendors and the actual event timing - which was absolutely perfect. Finally, I really feel like everyone I met, Carolyn, Joe, Betty - even the security guards who helped my guests carry presents etc. were genuinely the nicest people who made what could be a stressful day - just a beautiful memory - we are so very grateful to them for their help.Which is why I am leaving this long and absolutely honest review, I want you to have the best event and if you choose The Livestock Exchange and Brandeis Catering, you will be happy you did. Amy Trede(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-06-2018 Choosing the Livestock Exchange Ballroom what one of the easiest and best decisions we made for our wedding. It was the easiest decision because the place is gorgeous! I had attended a wedding there before being engaged and thought it was the prettiest venue in Omaha. I figured it would not be in our price range, but after getting on The Knot and getting some numbers, I realized how affordable it really was. They take care of everything for you, they have all the tables, linens, napkins, dinnerware, and drinkware, so there is no need to rent anything for your reception and the best part, they set it all up for you! All you need to do the day of is put your centerpieces out and you are ready to go! Plus the place is so beautiful the decorating is very minimal and it still looks phenomenal. The reason it was the best decision ever was the staff, in particular Joe. He was the coordinator we worked with the entire time. He works so hard to give you exactly the wedding you want. No request was too much, he always found a way to accommodate what we were asking. The entire staff at livestock was amazing! I can’t tell you how many compliments I have gotten from guests about how great the food was, which is from Brandeis catering (the in house caterer) or how friendly the bartenders were that night. Our parents were elated at how smoothly everything went, from set up to day of the reception, it all fell right into place. My dad cannot stop talking about how amazing Joe was to us and was so impressed at how he kept checking in with them the entire night of the wedding. I think booking this place is a no brainer and you will not be disappointed. After looking at many other venues this one stands out above the rest. It’s an “all included” type of venue for your essentials as I said before, and they don’t try and tack on more money or up charge you for things like real dinnerware or risers to elevate the head table. If they have it, then it’s yours to use and it’s all included. They also allow you have your own vision for your wedding. For example if you want to have a candy bar or Chex mix for the bar they don’t limit you to only using what they have or charge you a ridiculous fee for them to provide what you are wanting like some other places. This place knows what they are doing! Thank you Livestock and Joe for making our wedding truly amazing. I’m sure we will be getting compliments for a long time! Reviewed on 24-07-2018

She told me over and over again that I could call, text or email her with any questions or concerns that I had! She put together a solid timeline early on which really helped everything run smoothly! I also feel like this venue is all inclusive. At other places, you have to pay to get the cake cut and tap the keg and on and on. Here, the price is the room rental (which is small!) and the cost of the food/drink. There is also a 20% service charge but it does not include gratuity. The room rental includes a lot. Small centerpieces/candles, linens, tables, chairs, etc. Thanks to Carolyn and Betty (our day-of coordinator), everything went perfectly and the food was delicious! We got many comments that it was the best wedding food ever! Everyone loved the ballroom...it was gorgeous! The high ceilings, the floors, the stage! It was my dream wedding! There are only 2 cons I can think of....1) we were not allowed to take our leftover food home and 2) we have very little time for set-up and tear-down. We basically had Sat AM to set up and then everything had to be removed after the end. Don't plan to leave it there till the next day! The North Ballroom is so beautiful you hardly need any decorations. Carolyn was great in answering questions and being as helpful as she could. Sometimes scheduling meeting was difficult due to Carolyn's schedule and the fact that I live in Lincoln. But we managed! Small critique... I wish the tasting event date was set more in advance. My sister planned my shower around the potential time of the tasting so we gambled a little bit. It ended up all working out, but I still thought such an event could have been planned several months prior than just a month or so of notice. All of my guests complimented the venue and its beauty. If you do minimal decor, you could actually save money than planning your reception at a convention center where you have to spend money on up lighting, decor, etc. My guests also LOVED the beef brisket and caprese bites! Definitely recommend! Reviewed on 20-04-2016

The building itself is a beauty so it was not difficult to decorate. Along with Michelle's help, I was very fortunate to have met Mele, a polynesion food server at the Livestock Exchange building during our food tasting. I am originally from Hawaii and having that in common with Mele, we just clicked and she made sure the wedding went smoothly. She has been working at the Livestock Exchange for a decade so she knows her stuff. Throughout the selection of food, to the actual wedding day, she have helped me tremendously. For price was, it was not much to rent the venue which I thought was great, however once the breakdown of price came down they will charge you insane on food as well as fees for outside food such as cakes. They have there on catering, Brandeis. The food however was worth it! We had salmon and beef tenderloin. My guests enjoyed it with positive compliments. The night of the wedding, the staff was very attentive and made sure that my groom and I had everything we needed. Thanks to Carolyn and the Brandeis team, our wedding was a dream! Melissa Brown(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-09-2015 Our wedding was at the end of September 2015. The venue was absolutely stunning. So many guests for our reception made commentary about how gorgeous and beautiful the venue was. We enjoyed working with Carolyn, she made the process smooth and easy. It was simply a pleasure to work with Brandeis. The facility was perfect given that my family and my husband are all from South Omaha. What better venue could we find? Hands down, the best option for us. I do not think we could say anymore about how beautiful and wonderful this facility was for our reception. Reviewed on 11-10-2015

I had my wedding on a Friday, and they let me come on Wednesday and set up all my centerpieces! The service was awesome, the food was great, and most of all they were accommedating in every way!!! I would recommend this place a million times over and over, and if I had enough money to get married every weekend, it would be there for sure!!!! Reviewed on 22-06-2015
Anonymous (parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2016 We had a wedding ceremony in the Livestock Exchange South Ballroom and the reception in the North Ballroom. Both worked out very well, with the North Ballroom being absolutely beautiful, even without decorations other than the centerpieces. Parking was no problem and guests can drive right up to the door, which was very helpful for elderly guests.\r\rThe food from Brandeis Catering was delicious and was hot (which I had worried about since it is brought from another location.) Our only disappointment during the whole process was that the menu tasting event which had been scheduled for November was changed to February, which was just too close to our March event. We did then get to have a limited personal tasting which ended up working out well. \r\rMost impressive was the entire staff. Our warm and gracious wedding coordinator, Carolyn Sullivan, could not have been more helpful with suggestions, information and clear timelines. The day before the wedding when we set up, the staff were accommodating and made sure we had what we needed to get the job done. \r\rOn the night of the wedding, the wait staff, bartenders and especially our main contact person, Betty, were outstanding. They did their jobs quietly and professionally and were very helpful, right up till the time we carted out our flowers and the last box of items we had brought in. Overall we had no regrets and felt like the experience could not have gone better.\r Reviewed on 29-03-2015
Bethany Stoltenberg(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-09-2014 The ballroom itself is very beautiful and spacious. It has large/long windows all along one wall to allow for a gorgeous view of downtown Omaha as well as giving the ballroom some personality. However, I was disappointed that this venue does not provide anyone to assist in the set up...(my brother's wedding reception venue provided a staff member who set up all the center pieces and decorations for them the day before)...the Livestock Exchange will only set out the tables/table clothes so we had scramble to set all the center pieces and decorations up ourselves on the already busy rehearsal day. Also, I wasn't happy with the cake table placement...we had a very magnificent statement cake and it was shoved into a back corner (with the topper touching a light on the ceiling) when it should have been placed in a more central part of the ballroom or close to the entrance into the ballroom. Also, the dance floor area was very narrow rather than being a large squared off section as it should have been. The price to rent the venue was very reasonable but to me, It would have been worth it to just pay a little more for a different venue that would set up for us, placed the cake in a better spot, and had a better dance floor space. Other than those few issues, this is a nice place to have a wedding reception. (The total cost I've added in with this review reflects the room rental fee, security fee, all catering/drinks, alcohol, other fees, and taxes for a reception of approximately 150 guests). I highly recommend the Livestock Exchange Building for a reception location. We had our reception in the south ballroom in June of 2013. The ballroom is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Not only is the location breathtaking, Brandeis Catering staff are wonderful people to work with. We were able to tour the location and email for follow up questions as necessary. We do not live in town and were able to send the contracts back and forth effortlessly. The ballroom was open for plenty of time for us to decorate. Brandeis Catering has multiple options for linens as well as centerpieces, although we added some of our own. When we arrived after the ceremony, our night went perfectly. The staff made sure that everything was organized, the food was set up and refilled as necessary, and they were extremely friendly toward us and our guests. There was a variety of food that was available for adults and children; many guests said it was the best food at a wedding they have ever had. \rI have been to many weddings and must say that I felt most welcome and at home at the Livestock Exchange Building. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and that we had the perfect day. I am very thankful that we had the opportunity to have the most important day of our lives celebrated in such an incredible place. We would not change one thing about our wedding celebration and would love to attend more weddings at the Livestock Exchange Building!\r Reviewed on 01-09-2013
Kaitlin O'Hara(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2012 We were in search of an elegant ballroom for our reception venue, which led us to choose the historic Livestock Exchange Building. Most of my family grew up in South O, so the building had a reminiscent aura about it that many guests really enjoyed. Our reception was held in the smaller of the two ballrooms (seats approximately 250 people) and had a charming balcony that wrapped around the top of the space (perfect for the bouquet toss!) The ballrooms are located on the top floor of the building, where you arrive on elevators. The only negative about the elevator ride is that you may be joined by the tenants living in the building, which can be a little awkward at times. The windows are nearly floor-to-ceiling in height and gave way to a night sky view. There was a thunderstorm that night, so we had a lightening show, too! Reviewed on 17-01-2013

Renee Pond(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-10-2011 Everything was great. Michelle coordinated well, and was flexible with schedule. They let us set up early because there wasnt an even before, and let us pick up some items next day so we could enjoy our wedding night. Only complaint was our food was not same as tasting, pasta was cold and dry even though we arrived exactly at the time we told them. Went very well overall Reviewed on 10-12-2011
