Your Unforgettable Event, Our Magnificent Backdrop
A meticulously restored estate in Ridgefield, CT, the Lounsbury House is a wedding venue boasting historic authenticity. Grand without being flamboyant and intricate without being garish, this mansion breathes life into history. The Ridgefield community is proud of its historic landmark, and the staff loves seeing it transformed into a space for couples to celebrate their commitment. This national historic site was built in 1896 by Phineas C. Lounsbury, a former Connecticut governor. In 1953 it was adopted by the community and now operates as a non-profit. A board of directors and small staff now work tirelessly to maintain this estate for their community’s benefit. All the original details have been preserved, thanks to the Lounsbury House Women's Committee, volunteers, and the board of directors. Host up to 150 guests, or have a small, relaxed brunch in the gardens. White wainscoting adorns the rooms throughout the mansion, while floral wallpaper and neutral-colored walls create a traditional look. Chandeliers glitter from the ceiling and delicately designed furniture grace the rooms. The furnishings and decor of this mansion are restored to their original grandeur, while also boasting an understated look with washes of neutral colors. Outside, their gardens are flawlessly landscaped, for a romantic ceremony setting. Nestled in the manicured landscape are a gazebo, pergola, and fountain for doses of whimsy. Cocktail hour can be held on the charming wrap-around porch and Grecian columns add a stately, upscale touch to the facade. There are multiple get-ready rooms to relax and prepare in. Bridal showers can also be hosted on the historic grounds. Your ceremony may take place inside or out, giving you a number of options to create your ideal day. Interior rooms include the grand foyer, a conference room, and a meeting room, all bursting with refinement and romance.

We recently attended an event at the Lounsbury House and it was just perfect! The staff were attentive and knowledgeable—super easy to work with!! The inside entertainment space is elegant and inviting. The expansive porch in the front of the house is a great place for guests to hangout and have a cocktail, or a backdrop for beautiful photos. The grounds are well maintained and the front gardens are impeccable. Would highly recommend the Lounsbury House and their team for any special occasion!

My wedding turned out more magical than I could have ever imagined! The venue is a fantastic location, beautiful scenery, and the staff makes you feel like you are part of the Lounsbury family. It such a perfect location for a September wedding - Ridgefield is so cute, and my out of town guests loved exploring it! It also looks beautiful in the winter and any month of the month. We wish we could do it all over again. The staff was very responsive and helpful during the entire planning process, and the decorated bottle of champagne on the day of was a nice special touch. The Lounsbury House will always have a special place in our hearts!

RIFF has had the pleasure of utilizing the Lounsbury House for several events including galas and as our Filmmaker's Lounge. It's an elegant venue in an historic house that stuns guests with its beauty and grandeur. The staff are professional and accommodating and always a pleasure to work with.

The Lounsbury House is an absolutely beautiful place for a wedding, or any event for that matter. It is meticulously maintained to the point that several guests commented on how clean the windows were! We had 63 guests which was a nice number, but the venue will accommodate slightly more than 100 guests. We really enjoyed the large front porch which allowed our guests to enjoy the outside even during brief periods of rain. I would highly recommend this venue for any event, but for a wedding it's a really special place!

We are so happy we chose Lounsbury House for our wedding. We feel like part of their family now. The venue was beautifully decorated for Christmas and our friends and family were in awe. We loved the bridal suite to take a few minutes to relax. The ballroom and dance floor was perfect for our vision.

The Lounsbury House was the perfect location for our wedding. We had 90 guests and September and cannot say enough about this beautiful venue! From the bridal party suites, to the gardens, to the reception hall and dance floor this house is just stunning. If you're looking to have your ceremony onsite they have a beautiful private garden area for that too! We ended up deciding on a religious ceremony and there were tons of churches close by to chose from. The town of Ridgefield is just adorable as well and makes for the perfect wedding weekend. Beyond the beautiful facilities, Maggie was so kind and easy to work with. We had a ton of little things we wanted to do (petal toss, streamers, etc) and Maggie was so accommodating. She truly made sure we had our dream day. If you are looking for a stunning and intimate wedding look no further!

During each step of the planning process the staff answered questions and shared ideas with my husband and I to help us imagine our day. Maggie & Christina were both great at communicating via email and phone the entire year of planning. I was able to stop by the venue to meet with my vendors to do walk throughs and even by myself the week leading up to our event so I could make sure everything I envisioned was coming together. The staff was so accommodating to us 9 months before our big day and allowed us to marry on the front steps when we decided to legalize our marriage early. Lounsbury House is truly the perfect venue to make wonderful memories. I have been fortunate enough to have attended events there in every season of the year. My favorite is probably summer with the spectacular colors of the gardens and cocktails set up on the wrap around porch, then dinner and dancing in the mansion. Or there's fall with the leaves changing color on the expansive grounds or spring with the gardens starting to pop with color. Maybe even better - when the mansion is decorated for the winter holidays and candles light the any fireplaces. Each occasion was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff I interacted with couldn't have been ore professional or pleasant to work with. I am looking forward to my next visit there.

Listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, it is kept in impeccable condition with many original features still intact. I have been to several events at the House. I recently attended a social event at Lounsbury House and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience. From the majestic architecture and glamorous decor of each of the reception areas, to the attentive staff, to the convenient location on the beautiful historic Main Street in Ridgefield CT. The giant front porch wraps around the charming historic building and was also setup for entertaining, overlooking the exquisite gardens all around. I recently attended an event at Lounsbury House and it was spectacular. It is a beautiful, tastefully decorated venue with a deep history. It’s right in the middle of Ridgefield, a quaint yet artsy New England town north of NYC. I’d recommend it certainly for a wedding or milestone celebration but I hear they also do corporate events as well.

Our wedding reception at the Lounsbury House was flawless and out of a storybook. From the beginning, I worked with the incredible staff at the Lounsbury House to plan out the layout and set up. The house itself is truly breathtaking and we incorporated it into the designs of all of our custom invitations and day of stationary. Our guests were blown away with the sheer beauty of the house. Additionally, we really wanted our wedding to feel like a house party and NOT a traditional wedding event space. The number of rooms within the house allowed for this to happen- we had a dessert room, a gift/cake cutting room, the beautiful dance floor and then tables outside and inside. Our cocktail hour spilled out onto the front lawn which looked beautiful. Guests spent time in all different spaces and could really enjoy all parts of the house. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect reception venue. TIP- have your rehearsal dinner at Keeler Tavern (just down the street) and be sure to book out both the Fountain Inn and West Lane Inn for family and bridal parties. We had 155 guests at the wedding and that felt perfect.

They are very passionate about their jobs and are determined to make every couple's wedding perfect. The staff always keeps everything moving behind the scenes so the wedding party doesn't have to worry about anything. The building has been refurbished to be modern and elegant without losing its original 1890s historic charm. The garden, bridal suite, and main reception area are bright and welcoming and certainly drew me in. The house sits on Main Street in Ridgefield, a quaint and cute downtown area that only adds to the charm of the house. Such a beautiful venue, I can't recommend it enough!!

The staff is so professional and always flexible and most of all friendly and welcoming. The house has its own unique beauty and charm each season which makes it the perfect venue any time of the year. It is always an absolute pleasure working with them.

The Lounsbury House is absolutely stunning, and I'm so happy we picked this place as our wedding venue. We got married there last month, on June 10th, and everything came together so seamlessly. The staff was great to work with, very communicative, and the house itself was just stunning. My only complaint is that to purchase additional hours beyond the 9 hours, it's pretty pricey, so we didn't get to enjoy getting ready in the bridal suite before the wedding as long as I had hoped. If you choose this as your venue, I highly recommend staying at West Lane Inn (right down the road) with close family and friends (as there are only 13 rooms). The combo of staying there and then having our ceremony and reception at the Lounsbury House made the whole weekend just amazing.

Lounsbury House itself is a beautiful venue but unfortunately a few months before our wedding the wonderful person, Tracy, we working with, left and was replaced with someone else. The next few months were awful. The staff had no flexibility, we were hit with a fee bc we used a non preferred caterer which we were told by Tracy we would not be charged for. Getting them to answer ANY questions was like pulling teeth and they were condescending and rude. Fast forward to the wedding day-they give you one hour to set up the wedding and any additional time is a $500 per hour charge . We paid for extra time and when the vendors got there the house was locked and they took almost 30 mins to let us in because they were somewhere else in the house giving a tour! They continued tours of the house to outside patrons during the limited time that WE PAID FOR while we were setting up and getting ready for our wedding The secret elevator that was a huge selling point for us which takes the bridal party to the ceremony site so no one sees us was never turned on by the staff the which we realized as we were leaving the bridal suite to walk down the aisle. The ceremony was starting and we had to act fast and we couldn’t find another way without being seen so we ended up having to go out the front door and around the side where the whole ceremony saw us. During all the commotion the staff was not helpful at all and literally walked away. It was SO disappointing bc Lounsbury itself is SUCH a beautiful venue but the rude, unhelpful staff and lack of even the slightest flexibility made me wish I had gotten married somewhere else.

We knew the Lounsbury House was our venue from the second we stepped onto the property! The renovations done to the house made it absolutely perfect for the feel we were going for - classic and timeless with a touch of modern!The staff was always accommodating and prompt with their communication. Our pictures from our day are STUNNING. The best thing was the availability to have both the bridal party and the groomsmen get ready on-site. Those suites were perfect and it was fun to be able to watch all the guests arrive from the hidden away 'safety' of the upstairs!Only negative I have is the dining room space - the max guest count we were told was 140. We had 110 for our wedding and the seating was a little tight (we had 13 tables and 1 sweetheart table). I'm sure it would work with 140, but be prepared for it to be tight. However! most of the other CT mansion-style venues do not have a large enough space for all the guests to be in one dining room, so we'd prefer a tight fit than separate rooms!

The Lounsbury House is a gorgeous venue for any wedding or event. Although I had my own style and theme for decorating, the house would still be beautiful without any extra effort! I had my wedding in January so the inside of the house was cozy and the porch offered an extra area for people to gather. Having several rooms inside allows some separation for different spaces, yet the house is also very open so everyone feels together. All of my guests commented on the beauty of the house both inside and out and my photographer was able to take breathtaking photos. If I had to have my wedding all over again, I would choose the Lounsbury house without a doubt!

I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience at the Lounsbury House. The staff, Tracy and Kate, were just amazingly helpful and never made me feel like I was bothering them with all my questions. The venue itself is striking; so many comments from our guests. The suite for the bride to get ready in, and the groom's room are both great for photos and spacious. It was wonderful to watch guests spilling out onto the huge porch and into the front garden area. There was a place for everyone to be comfortable whether they wanted to be inside dancing or just mingling with friends. The grand staircase was the perfect way for us to enter for our first dance. The only thing to consider is that the dance floor is separate from the dining room so you can't just do your dances during dinner, you have to call people into the hall. That really did not end up being an issue at all; if anything it was nice to offer a change of pace and have people get up and be more part of the experience. We had 119 guests and they fit comfortably at 12 round tables; my bridal party at one rectangular head table.

As Ridgefield residents, my husband and I knew we wanted a venue that signified life in CT to our out-of-town/state friends and family. The Lounsbury House fit the bill and was the most fabulous venue we could have dreamed of. Our guests were completely blown away by the gorgeous venue, which is so beautiful you won't feel the need to go overboard with elaborate (and expensive) flower arrangements - in my eyes they would distract from the natural beauty and craftmanship of the mansion. We with with low, soft centerpieces which were perfect to enhance, not detract from the space.\r\rBeyond the beautiful house, one of the reasons we went with the Lounsbury House was because it affords you the ability to hand select all of your vendors. However, if you are not organized and detail-oriented, this may be quite a task. Keep in mind, the Lounsbury House staff is quick to offer recommendations and is there whenever you have any questions or concerns, putting your mind at ease.\r\rIn the end, we had the wedding of our dreams in our favorite town, at a venue that was absolutely beyond gorgeous!

We loved everything about this location, both inside and outside... Lounsbury is beautiful!

We loved everything about this location, both inside and outside... Lounsbury is beautiful!

I traveled Main Street frequently as a little girl to visit my grandmother and I always admired The Lounsbury House, so using it as my wedding venue was a \"no brainer\" for me. You are instantly drawn in by the beautiful wrap-around veranda (where we had cocktail hour), inside is surrounded by old charm with fire places, a grand piano, and a regal staircase. I adored everything about this venue. When using The Lounsbury House you need to find a caterer (it's not a one stop shop like many typical ballroom wedding venues) I liked this because it allowed us to completely make our menu original and we had the freshest food because it is cooked right there, it also allowed you to stick to a price point by researching different caterers, you are not limited. The dance floor is smaller than your typical ballroom but if you are planning for 100-150 guests and are looking for a naturally beautiful and romantic wedding venue, I would strongly suggest the Lounsbury!

I had my reception and ceremony all in one spot. My guests loved how they only had to walk over from the hotel and enjoy the night without driving anywhere. Everyone is wonderful to work with and the waitstaff went above and beyond to ensure that my father-in-law was well taken care of. (he is in a wheelchair). I did not hear a complaint on anything. The food received high reviews from my guests
