Makray Memorial Golf Club is a country club wedding venue situated in Barrington, IL. This expansive golf course plays host to a variety of special events of up to 250 guests. I cannot say enough good things about Makray and all of the staff there. Laurie, Leeza, and Stacie were extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process and made our wedding day flow seamlessly. They are so talented and exceptional at what they do. Chef also did a fabulous job - our guests were raving about all of the food. The venue itself is absolutely stunning and provided us with endless gorgeous photo opportunities. We are beyond thrilled with how our wedding day turned out and cannot thank Makray enough for making our day so special and beautiful. I strongly recommend Makray as a wedding venue, or any special event venue. So amazing!

So many wonderful things to say about Makray and the amazing staff who work there! First, Makray is such a beautiful venue for a wedding. We got married on July 8, 2023, and the ivy and landscaping was so green and picture perfect. We did our ceremony outside on the lawn, and it was truly perfect. Laurie and Leeza are also an AMAZING team to work with! They are friendly, organized, and truly care. They always put our worries at ease and made our wedding planning process much smoother. We truly loved having our wedding at Makray and would highly recommend this venue for a wedding! We are still on cloud 9!

Bernadette and I are extremely happy and pleased that we chose to have our wedding at the Makray Memorial Golf Club on the morning of July 1st, 2023. Everyone involved, especially Laurie, made our special day wonderful as they were so accomodating. The venue looked spectacular and once the morning drizzle subsided we got back on track and had a fantastic ceremony with Pastor Dave Angle and then buffet lunch enjoying all the food Chef John made for us finally followed by an afternoon of dancing singing and celebrating under the guidance of Oliver the DJ & MC.Your Club house is fantastic and provided a very upscale regal & classy venue and setting for our desired wedding leaving everyone telling us that our wedding at Makray will be the topic of conversations for years to come. Makray delivered the best wedding experience we could have asked for. Laurie & Leeza are so easy to work with & super helpful. They help you all the way through the process & make sure nothing falls through the cracks. They are also there the day of to make sure the timeline is going to plan. They are super experienced, friendly, positive, professional, & overall top notch at what they do.Makray itself is a beautiful venue & exceeded our expectations. We did an outdoor ceremony next to the patio & it was perfect. All the food for cocktail hour & dinner was phenomenal. The service staff was friendly, attentive, & delivered drinks quickly upon requests.We would recommend getting married at Makray to anyone!

The easiest staff to deal with and excellent too. You know you are in great hands. They handled everything with such care at my son and daughter in law's wedding planning. The food was excellent and served so incredibly hot. We were invited to a private tasting for the food and cake to make the best choice for our guests. I can't say enough about Makray. It is the best and so beautiful. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Our theme was “Autumn in the Mountains;” commemorating where my husband and I met, lived, adventured, and fell in love out West in Colorado. I highly, highly, highly recommend this amazing venue with its impeccable service, exquisite food, gorgeous surroundings, and the creation of memories that will last a lifetime.

We could not be happier with Makray as our chosen wedding venue! From the start Laurie gave us so much information on our initial tour, compared to some venues that simply gave us a folder and said to reach out with any questions. Then at our food tasting she was so patient and helpful going through everything from menu choices to napkin colors to signature drink options... Both Laurie and Leeza were very responsive to all our questions throughout the planning process. On the day before and of the wedding Laurie, Leeza, and Audrea made sure every detail was discussed and that everything would run smoothly, even when we had to move the rehearsal inside due to rain and when we started our ceremony late due to a transportation hiccup. The ballroom looked incredible, the food was amazing, and we received so many compliments on what a beautiful wedding it turned out to be. 10/10 I would recommend Makray to anyone who asks.

Such a beautiful venue for a wedding! We worked with Leeza and Laurie and they were amazing throughout the entire planning process. Their communication and attention to detail were very much appreciated for a type A bride like me :) The food was also a big hit! If you're looking for in-house catering that provides you with majority of everything you need for a wedding - look no further!The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the slight logistical nightmare on wedding day. The dinner service was so delayed (that was the ONE thing I didn't want to happen esp when selecting a venue)..so delayed that my husband and I were so rushed and didn't even get a bite of our wedding cake. The lady who runs the operational piece of the night was not helpful and was extremely rude. She kept blaming other people and never once took ownership (or really showed any empathy). Not to mention, there was a new head chef who must have been recently hired right before our wedding as it was a different person from our tasting a few months before. Not sure if the hiccup stemmed from the top down or what. Minus the dinner service delay - we had a great time and highly recommend Leeza, Laurie, and Makray!

Laurie, Leeza, and their team over at Makray made our wedding absolutely perfect! This was the first venue we went to tour and we couldn't get it out of our minds. Laurie spent lots of time with us explaining all the different options/features of Makray. We fell in love with everything! Being a teacher, I am very detailed oriented and have many list/spreadsheets, I was super impressed with how easy Laurie and Leeza made the planning process. Their documents were detailed and easy to use. I also tend to ask many questions and they made sure to answer them quickly. Again, absolutely amazing! When it came to the big day, we didn't have to lift a finger. The team at Makray made sure that every single detail we talked about went off without a hitch. The ceremony took place outside at their lake location and couldn't have been more breathtaking. I wanted to make a grand entrance, so Leeza made sure that I was hidden from not only the guests, but my husband. Our photographs on the grounds turned out perfect and really showed off the beauty of Makray. Every part of the reception went off without a single problem. All the guests had an amazing time and have been talking about our wedding since! The food was amazing and the wait staff made sure to take care of the wedding party and immediate family. At the end of the night they made sure all of our decorations were packed up with care and we were able to pick it all up the next morning. Honestly, I wish every couple could get married at Makray! They truly made our day the best beginning of this next chapter in our lives!

Everything from start to finish at the Makray was a great experience! Laurie & Leeza were phenomenal in helping me bring my vision to life; they truly enjoy their jobs & went above & beyond in answering every question I had to reassure me that my vision would turn out perfect. The venue itself is great not only in terms of the ambiance, but also has wonderful photo opportunities. Lastly, the food was delicious! Our guests couldn't stop raving about how tasty the food was, the generous portion sizes & how it was some of the best wedding food they've had...we couldn't agree more! I'd highly recommend the Makray to anyone; all the staff is wonderful & the service is top notch. When I say top notch, I'm referring to the fact we had a couple show up late for dinner & instead of the servers just serving them whatever course the rest of the room was on, the servers made sure to bring them out every course they missed on top of the course the rest of the room was on so they wouldn't miss out/be hungry. I can't wait to plan my next event at the Makray, truly a wonderful experience!

My husband and I could not have picked a better place to have our wedding. We knew right away that Makray was going to be our venue. We toured the place in September along with 3 other venues. Makray was the most prepared and memorable out of all those places we toured. We worked with Laurie, Leeza, and Andrea and they were extremely accommodating the entire time. All 3 ladies made themselves available to us for any questions. They even helped us stay organized by providing checklists and time lines. The food was incredible and the room was spacious enough for our 130 guests. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone who wants their wedding to be perfect!

My husband and I couldn't be more thrilled to have had our wedding at the beautiful Makray Memorial Golf Club. Our guests kept coming up to us saying how stunning the building itself is, and that it felt like we were in Italy or Ireland with the green Ivy all around the exterior. Simply jaw-dropping! Working with Laurie and Leeza also made wedding planning very easy, and took a load of stress off of my shoulders as the bride. They were always quick to respond, and were very easy going about answering any questions I had. If I wanted to change something after the fact, they was no hesitation and my request was easily changed. Overall beautiful location for a wedding and great staff to work with. The only downfall we had was the food we tasted during the food tasting didn't taste the same the day of at the wedding, so we were a little bit disappointed in that regard. But other then that, overall a 10/10! I would highly recommend!

We were in love with our venue. Makray was not only amazing in looks, but the wedding team was so attentive, kind, and accommodating. Laurie, Leeza, and Audrea are AMAZING to work with, and I still cannot thank them enough for being excellent communicators for the 18 months leading up to the weddings, and such amazing support the day of. They are number 1 for a reason! You will not find a better group to work with, and we had so many comments from guests about how stunning the grounds were. We cannot recommend this venue enough!

We had our wedding at Makray and it was an absolute dream. Laurie and Leeza made a great team and helped everything to run smoothly. I was planning a wedding all the way from San Diego and didn't even have to hire a separate coordinator. They were both punctual, organized, positive, friendly and everything you would want in a vendor for your wedding. The whole process was so much fun. The food was amazing and the space was gorgeous. Makray makes a spring/winter (cold) wedding in Illinois look so beautiful. My photos turned out great. I highly recommend Makray. Amazing team and venue.

We worked with Makray for our wedding/vow renewal reception (ceremony was at a local church) in Sept 2021. Our wedding was initially scheduled for April 2020, and Laurie, Leeza, and team were incredibly flexible, helpful, and responsive as we rescheduled the reception twice. They promptly replied to many questions and were accommodating as we had some last minute guest list changes due to covid. It was very clear what was needed when in terms of details, decoration drop offs, pick ups, payments, etc, which made it easy for us to stay organized. We were a little nervous about the food after the tasting, but the food at the reception was fantastic – we had multiple people comment unprompted on how good it was & we thought so too. The evening of the reception was beautiful and there were no hiccups (at least that we knew of!). Our decorations were set up exactly as requested, the food and bar were GREAT (which is seemingly unusual for a reception these days!), and the staff made sure everything flowed seamlessly. The venue is great if you want to have your own space vs sharing with other events that are happening at the same time – a private 2nd floor space, comfortable/locked bridal suite, foyer/dining area/balcony, and 2 bars with bartenders who kept the lines very short. Our only complaint is that they were not flexible with speeding up meal service – it was one of the longer dinners at a reception that we have been a part of.

We could not have hoped for a more beautiful eventt! The staff at the MaKray made it easy, elegant, and a fantastic event for all involved. From food to staff to fabulous decor and details--we would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a setting for a wedding with an intimate feeling (150 guests) and sense that each person attending was that special guest. The bride and groom were able to shine all night long knowing their day was in great hands! As the parents of the bride we could not have hoped for the day to be in better hands..its all in the details and the details were perfect!

Laurie, I wanted you to know that the bridal shower that I held this Saturday 9/11/21 was absolutely wonderful and even better than I’d imagined. Mark was wonderful in helping me bring in flowers, and the room was perfect! I want to do a special shout out to the young lady, (and I can’t remember her name ☹) who took care of the party. SHE WAS FANTASTIC, and I had advised both her and Mark that there were some guests that had ‘special menu requests', and she assured them that there would be no problem with this. I really hope you both thank her for all of her help, and send me her name Mark, so I can make sure to tell her again how much I appreciated all of her help! Side note, everyone there told me how fantastic the food was!!!!! So thanks to both of you again, and I will definitely be recommending your facility to my friends and work associates!!!!!

Laurie & Leeza were amazing to work with! Our wedding was originally supposedly to be August 2020, however, they made our entire postponement process a breeze! They thought of every detail and were a huge support system to us for the entire process. I’ve had a lot of friends who also had to postpone their weddings, and our experience was the easiest. Our wedding day turned out to be absolutely perfect. We had so many compliments from our guests on the beauty of the venue, as well as the food. Everyone’s steak was cooked perfectly and the chicken was extremely tasty. Thank you again Laurie & Leeza for making our wedding day perfect!

I hired this venue for my son's brunch reception which was supposed to take place in June of 2020. Because of Covid it was first moved to December of 2020 and then rescheduled for June 26, 2021. EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING was perfect! The food was delicious: We had the full breakfast buffet, plus one chicken dish and one beef dish and an omelet station. The sweets for the sweet table were all incredible and bountiful. I cannot say enough about the support of the entire staff there, starting with Audrea who I worked with from the beginning. She was supportive, helpful, informative and there for me not matter what I threw at her last minute, including seating changes as well as asking for valet service the day before the ceremony (which she did get!) The prices she quoted were accurate, no hidden surprises at the end and I thought very reasonable. The rest of the staff who helped on the day of the event and the night before (Audrea was there the entire time, too) were also so helpful, starting with Laurie and Leeza, Maria, and all the wait staff, who even helped me set up some of my decorations in the morning. The room looked beautiful! I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding, shower, or any other occasion.

I always wanted to get married at a beautiful venue with beautiful scenery and Makray Memorial Golf Club exceeded our expectations. Laurie and Leeza are truly an incredibly duo. They were so accommodating and understanding with planning a wedding during COVID. When we had to cancel the first time we met with them and they laid out all the options for us. We decided to just do a smaller ceremony only at Makray and the views were just incredible even on a very stormy day! Laurie and Leeza answered every question we asked them and were just the best to be around. They honestly are invested in their careers and want their customers happy. Without them our beautiful wedding wouldn't have been possible. We are so honored to have worked with these two and will be referring others to Makray as well!

I always drive passed Makray Memorial Golf Club and think that would be an amazing place to get married. That is just what my husband and I did. From the beginning Laurie and Leeza were extremely helpful. They were like my helpers in planning my wedding with them. They had very helpful suggestions and thoughts they wanted me to keep in mind. These helped me plan out my wedding to be my dream wedding. Any time I emailed one of them, they always got back to me within 24 hours. They constantly had me at ease.And then COVID hit...when most vendors spiraled out of control, Laurie and Leeza remained professional and extremely helpful. In turn, this helped me to keep a level head. They kept track of government orders and numbers and how this would effect our wedding. We got married in August when there was a maximum of 50 guests allowed. They helped me navigate through this tough and trying time. We figured out how to make the room look amazing still with only a fraction of the people. They maintained safe and comfortable standards within their establishment for COVID. I can't even begin to explain how easy they made the planning even when this pandemic hit. Even though it wasn't the original plan, Makray Mermorial Golf Club was still the perfect and dream wedding! Thanks Laurie and Leeza (and everyone else who helped navigate through this!)Would 100% suggest you can't go wrong with Makray for your wedding. Beautiful grounds to take pictures and the price was very reasonable. Included all food/wedding cake/drinks. I just had to find my other vendors. We also did our rehearsal dinner with them. It was absolutely delicious and fun! Makray has worked with many vendors before, so they really know what they are doing!

Elegant and perfect are the best words to describe our recent wedding at Makray Golf Club. We chose Makray for our venue just three weeks prior to the date. We were only having 10 guests due to Covid, but Laurie and Leeza were eager to help plan our wedding as though we were having 200! The location and setting were perfect. We wanted to have our ceremony outside, but were comfortable knowing there were several beautiful options indoors in case the weather did not cooperate. The venue is a fantastic location with beautiful scenery throughout the grounds.Leeza and Laurie were always prompt with responding to my emails, offered excellent recommendations for appetizers, setting, etc. and did an amazing job setting up the ceremony and private room with our decorations and party favors. Throughout the dinner, they checked in with us to see that everything was going well. Our waitress, Sue, was amazing as well! She was very attentive to each guest’s requests for drinks and even accommodated special dietary requests. Everyone ordered something different, yet all items were served piping hot. Our guests are still talking about how delicious their food was, as well as the outstanding service provided.If you are planning a wedding, we would highly recommend visiting and considering Makray Golf Club. They are very flexible, reliable and professional. They treated us with utmost respect and as individuals, instead of just another bride and groom. Due to the combined experience of Leeza, Laurie, Sue (the waitress) and Chef, our wedding turned out more perfect than we could have ever imagined. It was a truly spectacular experience. We will be returning for dinner in the restaurant very soon and on many future occasions.

Linda, Leeza, and Laurie did a fantastic job helping plan our best day. They helped make sure the day went perfectly as planned and with no hiccups on the day of schedule. They were easy to communicate with, made themselves available to answer all questions we had. The staff on our day were FANTASTIC! They made sure we ate, drank, and were having so much fun. Our wedding was November 2nd and I don’t even know where to begin! We had a wonderful experience working with everyone at Makray! We had our ceremony and reception inside at Makray and it was absolutely beautiful. Lauri, Leeza and Lynda were all so helpful and kind. They made sure everything went smoothly and made the experience as stress free as possible for us. They were so hands on the day of the wedding, I didn’t feel like I had to worry about anything. We received so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was itself. Everyone loved the food and service as well. We were so pleased with everything about Makray! I wouldn’t have changed a thing about our wedding!

They also went above and beyond to make sure I could project a video of my husband’s best man speech since he was deployed overseas during our wedding. Couldn’t have asked for a better venue! All those who worked our wedding made us feel special and well cared for. They are awesome!

We had a great experience working with Makray for our August 2019 wedding. We had both our ceremony and reception at the location and chose to have an indoor morning wedding. We chose this venue because of how beautiful and affordable it was. They also provided a lot of services in house (including catering and a day of wedding coordinator). For the services they did not provide, they have partnerships with a lot of great local vendors that are also affordable and good quality. Laurie H. was amazing and worked with us from start to finish in the planning process. She was very personable and professional and helped us see all of our options. Everything was very customizable, which we appreciated since we had a specific budget in mind for our wedding. Audrea M. was also amazing to work with and she did a wonderful job organizing the details of the event. Overall we had a great experience and so much fun. We felt so supported by the Makray team throughout our planning process and our actual wedding day. I would recommend this venue to any of my friends for ceremony and/or reception.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars because Leeza, Laurie, and the rest of the staff at Makray definitely deserve it! From the first time we contacted them during our venue search and even after our wedding, they were warm, inviting, knowledgeable, accommodating, and responsive. And the list of wonderful adjectives I could use to describe them goes on! Even though we were out of town, scheduling meetings, including our tasting, was a breeze. They had wonderful recommendations for other vendors, and made it easy for us to make all of the little decisions we needed to make to bring everything together. In short, they took away quite a bit of the stress that comes with planning a wedding--especially from a few states away!And the venue itself is GORGEOUS! Aside from the outside of building itself and the beautiful ivy growing on the walls, he ballroom has an amazing view of the golf course, as well as a cute veranda where guests can mill about during the cocktail hour and reception. Finally, to the most important part: the food! I cannot overstate how AMAZING the food was. All of our guests were raving about everything. Appetizers, soup, salad, entree--you name it, we received compliments on it!I could go on and on, but I'll end with this: Leeza, Laurie, and everyone else at Makray, we cannot thank you enough for everything you did for us, and for how memorable you made our special day! You are all truly wonderful and we are thankful to have had the opportunity to meet you all :)

Our wedding was at Makray on July 27, 2019. The wedding coordinators/staff at Makray helped to make our wedding day perfect and we couldn’t have thanked them enough! Laurie was extremely patient and responsive throughout the entire process and really helped to make sure that all of the details were finalized and that the day would run smoothly. Lynda and Leeza were also a huge part of the wedding planning at Makray and were equally instrumental throughout the process. I really appreciated that they set up our decorations for us, as well as helped with the entire coordination of the day. They did such a nice job putting our decorations out and I really appreciated the effort to make sure that it all looked nice. I was so grateful that my bridesmaids and I did not have to spend time doing that ourselves and had more time to get ready. In addition, the waitstaff did an incredible job during the reception to make sure that everyone was taken care of. People are still talking about how delicious the food was at our wedding! Makray is such a beautiful place to have a wedding and we couldn’t be happier that we chose it for our wedding day.

My husband and I were thrilled with our wedding at Makray. We chose the venue because it is beautiful and reasonable priced, and the added bonus was the service we received both before and during our wedding exceeded well beyond our expectations. Laurie and Leeza were very responsive to all of our questions, and set up all our decorations for the wedding exactly how we wanted it. Before the wedding, the chef took time with us to prepare us our signature drinks, letting us taste different versions until we decided on the ones we enjoyed. During the wedding, many of our guests had dietary restrictions, and everyone with a restriction had a special meal prepared for them. Afterwards, I received many complements about how wonderful all the servers were and how they accommodated all allergies, and really any requests, with no problems. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue, so I would tell any future bride not to hesitate about booking this vendor!

Our wedding was at Makray 2 weeks ago. The entire experience was a real delight. When we first toured venues, we were beginning to feel as if we were on a used car lot. Many vendors were vague about pricing, not upfront about real costs, etc and I left feeling like I didn't have any idea of what holding my wedding there would cost. Makray was the exact opposite. They were transparent, clear, and offered us a very generous off-season discount. They ran me several sample invoices with different options chosen so that I could price out the different options that I had. In addition, the venue is truly beautiful. Leeza, Lynda, and Laurie were a pleasure to work with and clearly really enjoy their job. They were responsive, flexible, and had answers and options for any questions that I had. Our tour, tasting, rehearsal, and actual wedding all went off without a hitch. The venue was the perfect size for our wedding of 80. All of our guests had a great time and we can't wait to see the pictures!

THE PERFECT VENUE!!! Amazing and caring staff, you WILL NOT be disappointed with Makray! From the very beginning Leeza and Laurie were there for us every step of the way. These incredible souls are so efficient, and just amazing at what they do! The venue itself is nothing short of gorgeous, the food is amazing (if you’re looking to not serve your guests run of the mill dry chicken breast - their chef cannot be beat!), and the staff during your reception is so kind and attentive. My now husband and I had the most incredible experience with Makray. The women there did everything they could to make our year of planning as smooth as possible and same with the day of wedding. They are incredibly organized and VERY knowledgable with any questions you may have. We did not stress one bit with them, so what more could you ask for in a venue? And it definitely helps that the location is gorgeous no matter what time of the year! Our pictures turned out amazing and all of our guests raved about how amazing Makray was, especially their food! If we had to do it all over again, Makray would be our #1 choice every single time - cheers!

Absolutely perfect!! From the moment we showed up for our initial tour to Midnight of our wedding night a year and a half later, we had the BEST time planning our wedding not to mention the day of. I can't speak enough kind words about Leeza who we worked with a majority of the time, but her fellow teammates Laurie and Lynda were absolutely amazing as well. We have gotten non-stop compliments on how beautiful Makray is and how well the entire ceremony and reception went. The food was delicious - so many people have mentioned how impressed they were that wedding food could be that tasty! The cake from the vendor that Makray works with was gorgeous and delicious as well!! I'm still in shock at how smoothly everything went. May just have to get married again in 5 years for an excuse to throw another epic bash at Makray - We love you Leeza!!!

With a combined 40 years of experience with weddings and events, my now-husband and I scoured the Chicagoland area for the perfect place to hold our wedding and reception. We needed a space that was unique, beautiful, and one that would accommodate an outdoor ceremony in winter. We considered over 300 venues and were thoroughly impressed by the professionals at Makray. When other places told us “NO”, Makray staff told us about how they’d brainstormed solutions for us during their staff meetings. Laurie, Leeza, Audrea and Linda welcomed us into their “club” and were as nice, supportive and flexible as anyone we’ve ever met. The same spirit permeated their staff - including the grounds keeper who monitored the weather for us and got us to the best picture-taking spots on the course before rain set in - and the restaurant hostess who created a beautiful chalkboard sign for our hot chocolate bar - and Chef, who created said hot chocolate bar for us. I could go on and on!Others have commented about the food. We loved it. More importantly, our guests RAVED about it. Some said they’ve never eaten more (or better) food at a wedding! We will continue to hold a very special place in our hearts for Makray and its staff. These guys are event pros and really work to make your event vision come to life. We highly recommend them.

We met Laurie a year and a half before our big day and upon meeting her and viewing Makray we knew that there would not be a more special place to get married. The whole event team at Makray is fabulous. Laurie, Audrea, and Leeza all are professional, thoughtful, considerate, accommodating, and helpful. They were so prompt with answering questions and providing guidance and input as we planned our big day. They definitely went above and beyond for us for our wedding day. Audrea was the coordinator the day of our wedding and did a phenomenal job. We are so thankful that these women helped make our dream wedding come to life. We had many specific requests and they helped make all of them happen. Our ceremony remained outside even during the hottest weekend in June and the whole team was constantly checking in with us and parents to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. They were prompt with any requests we had day of. Makray itself is a stunning venue. All the photos we have seen so far from our wedding day, whether they are of the ceremony, reception area, or guests around the grounds, are all so very beautiful! The food is delicious. We could not have had a more perfect experience! If you are the least bit interested in having your big day at Makray, I encourage you to go for a tour and I assure you that you will not be disappointed. Makray was wonderful! We got married here just over two weeks ago. I don’t know how I would have gotten through everything without Leeza! The whole team was so supportive. Chef did a fantastic job and everyone loved the food! The vegetarian tart was by far my favorite ever! I would got back just to have it again! My advice to couples is to have everything labeled and map out how you want any extra special details, or talk to them to have them note it. They will make sure it gets done!

Makray was the perfect venue to have our wedding. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location, mouthwatering food, and amazing planner. Laurie and Audrea did all the heavy lifting and made everything go smooth and perfect. They helped us from start to finish and provided us with all the options available to us. The chef was a magician in the kitchen making meals that were tantalizing from homemade salad dressing to perfectly cooked filet. The golf course was manicured to perfection and created a beautiful backdrop for our Scottish-ish themed wedding; the rolling hills, the water mill, to the castle like club layered with luscious vines. I recommend all engaged couples to take this location into consideration because it is the perfect location to make ones dream wedding come true.

Overall our day turned out amazing. We got so many compliments on how beautiful the ballroom is, how delicious the food was and how much fun everyone had. Working with the staff was wonderful. They always answered all of my questions no matter how silly. There were a few issues that we had in the days leading up to the wedding. We held our ceremony here as well and were told we could have a private patio ceremony but were never given information about when we would have to pay the fee or when we would have to give the final decision for a private patio. We were told we could change the ceremony location up until the night before the wedding. When I asked about closing the patio a few days before the wedding we were told we could not close the patio that close to the wedding and that we should have done that some weeks prior. They reassured me that they had never had issues with patio guests interfering with wedding ceremonies and that they wouldn't take any new reservations. However, there was a golf outing scheduled for the afternoon of our wedding on the patio. These guests were very rowdy and were interfering with our pictures before the ceremony. They were eventually asked to move inside for our ceremony and we wound up getting a private patio. But that should never have been an issue. I was also told they are no longer going to close the patio at all for weddings after 2017. The other issue was that on the day of our wedding, the ranger would not take us out on the golf course for pictures. It was an absolutely beautiful day and we were told we couldn't go out because there were too many golfers. On the day of I didn't think much of it. But now that I have seen our pictures I should have tried harder to get out on the golf course. All of our pictures are in front of the building or on the side of the building. And while the building is beautiful, we definitely missed out on some photo opportunities on the golf course. I am definitely disappointed that we didn't get to take pictures on the bridge or near the water wheel. The wedding should be just as much of a priority as the golfers.

The food was AMAZING from the tasting to the day of. The staff is responsive, flexible, and worked with me & all our decor set-up to make it absolutely flawless. They even took pictures of the ballroom for me before the photographers got there. They went above & beyond. Laurie Hudak is absolutely amazing and just the sweetest human. And the grounds are immaculate and great for photography. And for the price?! Very reasonable for everything you are getting. I can't rave enough about Makray. Just had our daughter’s wedding at Makray, and it was FABULOUS! They rocked it from the planning phase thru the execution. First of all, the venue is beautiful… the rooms have a lovely view, and the décor matched our daughter’s vision to a tee. While rain prevented us from taking golf course shots, there are plenty of other great locations for photos. Laurie and Leeza in the Catering Office were so easy to deal with: They kept us on track, advised us of options and were attentive to our needs. They are just the detail-oriented gals you want keeping tabs of your event! And so sweet and pleasant to deal with! HONEST – When I went to settle the account, they kept an accurate tab of what was still owed me!On the day of the event, the execution was flawless. Lynda, our wedding coordinator, was so calming and even helped with my daughter’s hair since I was all thumbs! Audrea and Maria had the room looking spectacular and maintained an exceptional level of service for us and our guests. Maria and her team even packed all of our decorations carefully and had them ready for us the next morning!But what really had our guests talking was the food: My in-laws from NY couldn’t stop talking about how great the appetizers were! The whole meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Chef Walter’s team gave us wonderful options at our tasting, and his team followed through for our event. Every course was a hit with our guests!Makray exceeded expectations in all aspects of the event: From planning, to preparation, to execution, Makray was the perfect venue for our event!

First of Laurie and her team members are amazing to work with, from the day I just dropped in to see the space through the wedding day they were outgoing, friendly, helpful and accommodating. When I arrived to Makray and saw how all my florals and decor came together I was speechless, all I could really get out was \"OMG\" it truly was the wedding reception of my dreams.. almost 3 weeks later and I'm still in awe when I see the pictures. Now to the food... wow.. not your typical wedding food, the cocktail foods, dinner and late night snacks were delicious! My guests are still raving about the food! I heard the ice cream bar was wonderful also.. no one told me bride and groom do not get to eat much at their wedding! Lol. The views on the golf course and around the site is breathtaking .. perfect for pictures.I strongly recommend going straight to Makray and forget the rest.. you won't be disappointed..the staff is wonderful just like the location..Thank you Laurie, Leeza & team!

We were referred to Makray by a client of my now-wife, and we are forever grateful! We worked with Jaci and she was wonderful at helping us to plan our reception. The venue itself is beautiful, though the weather in March did not permit photography on the golf course. The food is stellar, and I can't commend Chef Walter and his staff enough. Because of their expertise, we were able to create a menu of completely gluten free entrees, which made my Celiac wife feel much more comfortable. And lest you think that gluten free food tastes bland, the food was widely praised by our guests! We stopped by their restaurant a few times before our food tasting and were very happy with the quality, and it was definitely a great indicator of the food to come at the wedding. The optional s'mores bar was also a hit, and if you're looking for desserts, seriously consider it! It's very safe, as it's staffed, and you get a delicious chocolate fountain. We brought a box of gluten free graham crackers so my new wife could enjoy it also, and they kept it completely separate to be safe. You can't go wrong with Makray!

Jaci and Laurie were easily accessible via phone or email, very helpful in working within our budget but still getting us exactly what we wanted for our wedding day. I even threw a few curve balls at them (like creating my own wedding archway and had to put it together on site) and they were very flexible and helpful in helping all the details come together. Even last minute changes they took in stride and never made us feel like it was inconvenient or stressful on their end which made our last few weeks of wedding planning/details that much easier. The food was INCREDIBLE! We were amazed at our tasting and my husband who is a chef himself, had a hard time narrowing down options for the menu. On our wedding day, we were a little nervous if they could reproduce our delicious food 190 times over but it was done to perfection and all our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious all the food was between our meat course (we couldn't pick one so the combo chicken and steak was a big hit!) the vegetarian option and they were VERY diligent with our guests with food allergies. It was greatly appreciated and we definitely made a point to eat our dinners. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, the ballroom is spacious but intimate with its lower ceiling and wood paneling (you dont feel lost in the giant, high ceiling ballrooms) and with windows 180 degrees around the room over looking the golf course, you can't have a bad view. It was also wonderful to have a venue that we were the only wedding so the staff was 100% focused on our guests and our needs that day. We even got to go out on the golf carts and take pictures around the golf course which was so much fun and unexpected for our wedding day - definitely fun memories! Overall, I wish I could score higher than 5 stars because they are simply the best and couldn't have asked for a better venue, staff, food and coordinators!

Makray is amazing!! From the beginning, Jaci and Laurie were available to answer my various questions (and I had a lot!). They helped us craft a wedding day package that suited our budget and preferences and were accommodating of allergies and other dietary needs.I am STILL thinking about the food. The tasting was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning, and my husband and I made eating at our reception a priority. The food is amazing!I am thankful I live nearby so I can go to the restaurant! I highly recommend for the food, the service, and the atmosphere!

Great staff and beautiful venue! I am so glad we picked Makray for our wedding. The staff was extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process. They answered all of my many questions quickly and helped me make an decisions I wasn't sure about. On the day of my wedding I did not have a thing go wrong. I really was able to let the staff do their job and they did it perfectly. My wedding was so beautiful and flowed smoothly. I loved working with Laurie, she was so calm that there was not way I could have stressed out.My favorite parts of the venue were:- You are the only wedding that day- The venue is absolutely beautiful inside and outside- You and your bridal party had some amazing locations on the golf course for photos- The terrace is great for guests who want to take a break outside- You have a private bridal suite with your own bathroom- The food is great! (Guests loved everything)

Where to begin....From the moment I walked into Makray to take a look at the venue, Jaci was wonderful. Throughout the process of planning, it was extrememly easy going and there were no issues whatsoever. The rehearsal dinner with Lynda and Laurie was smooth and made me feel comfortable going into the wedding day. The day of, turned out to be more than we could have ever dreamed of. Lynda, Laurie, and Jaci setup the ceremony and the reception so beautiful that it was breath taking. The staff was wonderful and helpful throughout the night. The chef did a fantastic job. The food was great and we are still receiving compliments on it that should go to the chef. The whole night was amazing and we had nothing but compliments about our wedding all night long. It was an excellent experience with Makray Memorial Golf Club and we would recommend them to everyone.

I recently had my ceremony and reception at Makray, and I could not have asked for a better or more beautiful venue! I received so many compliments from my guests about the gorgeous setting and the great food--especially how attentive the staff were to dietary restrictions and allergies. The crab cake appetizers, macadamia chicken, and tomato bisque soup were so good, and everyone raved about the late-night snack of mini burgers! The thing I appreciated most about this venue though was its incredible staff. Jaci, Laurie, and Lynda were amazing to work with. They were so responsive and made sure everything went smoothly. Because of their help, I didn't have to worry about a thing and was able to just enjoy my day! I'm so glad I picked this venue!

My husband and I were so excited when we saw Makray and met with Jaci when we were searching for venues - we knew we wanted to get married there because Jaci was so friendly and warm and knew exactly how to explain things to us! Ever since that first day, we were in such good hands! We had the best day ever- food was amazing, I didn't worry about a single thing and everyone had a fun time! This place is PERFECT! The golf course views are incredible, the service is 5 star, the food is 5 star and working with Laurie and Jackie was fantastic. They met our every need and took all the stress away. Once we say Makray, no other place could compare to what they offer. From the very first day we walked in, we were blown away from the professionalism and outstanding service everyone provides. If you are looking to have a beautiful gold course wedding or reception do not go anywhere else but Makray.

We held our wedding reception at Makray on June 25, and we couldn't have been happier. Jaci, Laurie and Lynda helped us create the wedding of our dreams. From the initial inquiry and visit to the tasting and day of the reception, they were responsive, friendly and helpful. They walked us through every step of the planning process and offered wonderful ideas for making our day special. The food was fantastic, and the room and foyer were decorated beautifully. The team was organized and thought of every detail. Our guests are still raving about how much they enjoyed ourselves, and my husband and I continue to relive the details of the night through our beautiful photos from the ballroom and golf course. We couldn't recommend Makray more, and we are so appreciative to have worked with such a talented, warm and friendly team for our big day.

We got married at Makray on July 3, 2016 and it was absolutely perfect. We knew from the moment we stepped foot into Makray for a viewing that we needed to get married there. It is such a beautiful and unique venue, with many locations for perfect pictures. Jaci and Laurie are amazing coordinators to work with. They are both so friendly and helpful throughout the entire planning process. They also made our wedding day completely stress free by taking care of everything and communicating with all of our vendors. I couldn't believe how gorgeous the venue looked with all of my decorations, they set it up even better than I imagined in my head. We got so many compliments from guests on how beautiful everything was. The food is also delicious and they are very helpful during the tasting process. If I could go back, I would not change one thing about our wedding day! It was so perfect and I wish I could relive it over and over! I could never thank the coordinators enough for making my wedding dreams a reality! I would highly recommend Makray to anyone searching for that perfect wedding venue!

We had our wedding at Makray this past June, on a Friday evening. Our coordinator was Jaci, and the night of the wedding we had Audrea seeing over everything. Both were absolutely wonderful to work with! We had a ceremony in Elmhurst and went to Makray for pictures and the reception. The golf course provided amazing spots to grab great pictures! They led the entire wedding party to the specific spots that would make great photos. Our bridal party LOVED driving around in the carts! We went with a combination offering for dinner- beef tournedos and chicken Boursin. Of the 115 guests we had, 93 chose the beef tournedos. We opted for top shelf, throughout dinner and it was definitely appreciated by the guests. Everyone RAVED about the food! In fact, several people told us it was the best wedding they have attended. My husband is an avid golfer so our pictures will be ones to treasure. We wish management would have provided at least one round of complimentary golf, but all they offered was a discounted rate. No regrets- loved it! Thank you, Makray, for the excellent service, the great follow up and a memorable wedding reception- truly an amazing venue! Can't wait to be invited to another wedding here as a guest!

Amazing Venue!!We recently just got married on June 3rd. We could not have had a better place for our big day than Makray. I cannot say enough about how awesome Jaci, Audrea and Laurie were during the entire process. From the planning, their excellent communication and advice to the actual execution of the wedding events themselves. The staff was amazing and did a wonderful job keeping all guests attended to and very happy. Our guests could not stop telling us how beautiful the venue was and how awesome the food was from the apps during cocktail hour to the main course. A huge thanks to Jaci and Audrea who did such an excellent job! We can't thank you enough we had such an amazing time and wouldn't change it for the world. I recommend not just the beatiful decor of Makray, but you are also in great hands with the staff who will be with you every step of the way. Thanks!!

What a wonderful facility! I was hired to DJ a wedding here and the staff was very professional and easy to coordinate with. I was working with a woman named Leeza and she was FANTASTIC! She helped with my timing for announcements and the general flow of how the couple wanted their wedding to go. She was even kind enough to bring me a plate of food, which was delicious! Definitely a very nice upscale place to have a wedding/event. Their staff will make things easier for other people you hire, such as you're DJ or photographer.

Loved everything to do with this venue and its staff. Case and point of how above and beyond they went -- I was having a hard time with fabric samples and how it would all look, Laurie pulled a few samples for me to look at and actually set up a table so I could see how it looked. Laurie, Jaci, Audrea and the rest of the Makray team are absolutely amazing to work with. They went above and beyond to make sure my wedding reception was everything I wanted and more. From the 1st day we toured Makray to the day of the reception, they made sure I was comfortable and happy. Wedding planning can be stressful, but Makray made it so easy. They were extremely accommodating which was helpful since I was planning the wedding from out-of-state. \r\rI had envisioned what the room would look like, but I was completely blown away when I saw it set up. I admit I'm a bit of a control freak and I was so worried that something would be out of place. But I was so wrong! Everything was absolutely perfect and even more beautiful than I had imagined. \r\rChef Walter's food was incredible. A lot of our guests raved that it was the best wedding food they have ever had. And you will not be disappointed if you order the chicken sachet hors d'oeuvres. Our wedding party was fighting over the last one! We also had a surprise late night burger snack that our guests LOVED! \r\rI would highly recommend Makray to anyone getting married. The venue is stunning, the food is incredible, and you cannot beat the service. Thank you for an amazing evening for my new husband and I along with our friends and family!

I found Makray on theknot.com a year and a half ago and had my wedding here September 19, 2015. From the moment I visited I knew I had to book this venue for my ceremony and reception. The venue is BEAUTIFUL, the food is amazing, and every member of the staff is personable, knowledgable and very attentive to detail. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and I did not have to worry about a thing with the team at Makray. Our outdoor ceremony by the patio was beautiful, and our reception was so incredibly fun. Our guests could not stop raving about the food, the service, and how beautiful the venue was. Many of them even told us it was the best wedding they have ever been to. I HIGHLY recommend Makray for wedding receptions and ceremonies and hope I can go back for someone else's wedding soon!

I was actually referred to Makray through a friend who had been to a wedding there. Their pictures on line were gorgeous, we loved the ballroom upstairs, so my fiance and I decided to take a look at it. They coordinators are more than accommodating. From the moment I emailed Laurie to the first time we stepped foot into Makray, we were welcomed overwhelmingly. We ended up using Makray for our ceremony and reception. The building is absolutely stunning, which made for some amazing photos. The food is top-notch, and the service is unbelievable. I know it almost sounds too good to be true...They made the entire wedding process a breeze. Their wedding package includes all of the essentials, and more. Lots of options, and if there is something you want that you don't see, they will make it happen!! We also found their \"preferred vendor\" list very helpful! It put me at ease knowing that the vendors we chose, had worked at Makray before, and knew the routine. If we did anything right throughout this entire process, it was choosing Makray as our venue! Jaci, Laurie, and Lynda are dream makers and we can't thank them enough! :)

From Beginning to end, it was easy and a pleasure working with Makray Memorial Golf Club! Laurie Hudak and Jaclyn Jesionowski\r(Banquet/Catering Managers) were organized,communicative,and efficient.\rExecutive Chef Walter was interactive during our food tasting, asking questions about our needs and making great suggestions that would please our guests.\rFrom the moment we arrived on our daughters Labor Day wedding, the attentiveness of their staff to our guests was exceptional! A special acknowledgement must go to Audrea Montalbano(our Banquet Manager). She made sure that the reception area and dining room with our personalized touches were properly and creatively displayed. She worked with her staff the entire evening until the last guest left. She checked in with us periodically throughout the night to make sure that all of our needs were being met. The meals were personally prepared by Executive Chef Walter and his crew(he cooks for all the banquets). The food was hot and consistently plated for all 124 meals. The filet was fork tender and the Chicken Madera was not drowning in sauce. The food on that night was as good as the tasting and any meal that we have ever eaten in their restaurant.\rAs it was a hot summer day, being able to sit out on the balcony in the evening was a great joy! Our Bridal party really enjoyed being taken around the golf course in golf carts. They took special pictures with their photographer and videographer by the water wheel and on the bridge. \rThere was not a downside to our experience. Makray Memorial Golf Club exceeded our expectations in every way. Many of our guests who have been to other events over the years here have consistently said the same thing. Thanks to ALL who made our day so perfect!

Working with the staff at Makray was INCREDIBLE to say the least. We were assisting in planning a reception for my son and his wife who live out of state. So we were trying to see thier vision. Laurie, Audrea, Leeza and all were AMAZING so wa thier attention to detail!!! The space originally was going to be for the bridal shower, then the kids changed the wedding plans, I inquired about changing it to a wedding reception and Laurie was quick to make it work in a blink of an eye. We happened upon Makray a few years ago when we ate in the restaurant, and were impressed with that. We peeked at the reception space and knew some time in our lives we would want to host some type of party here. The staff treated my husband and I like we were family, and that they would not do anything less than what they would expect for thier own affair. From the minute we first met to the moment we thanked them for giving our children and family the most incredible Brunch Wedding Reception there was NO stress. Laurie and Audrea kept on top of things, kept in touch with us often, provided us with guidelines to make it all run smooth and boy it did!! If we could give them a 10 star rating we would. The serving staff that day was incredible as well, I would and have been talking to everyone I know telling them to consider Makray for any function they may need. After shopping around we could not find a venue that even came close with the cost along with the beautiful space for what we spent. What we received FAR out weighed the reasonable cost. We hope we will need to use Makray again, it was a very magical day thanks to them. My son and Daughter in love said it was exactly what they had dreamed of!! Thank you Makray

We had our wedding reception at Makray on July 18, 2015, and we are so incredibly happy with our choice!!! Makray is an absolutely beautiful venue, the food was beyond delicious, and the service was exceptional. I worked with Laurie, Lynda, and Jaci throughout the planning process, and these three ladies are amazing!! Laurie was wonderful with answering all of the many specific questions that I had and was very easygoing and calm, which really helped me feel at ease during wedding planning! Lynda was so organized down to every last detail. Jaci was phenomenal with helping us with many tasks, including decorating- my mom and aunt brought in tons of decorations and had a very specific plan as to how they should look and where they should go. When we came in to go through our ideas, Jaci had everything memorized and understood where everything in every bin would go, while taking pictures, in a heartbeat! I was so impressed. \r\rThe day of the wedding was just magical - Makray already looks like a fairy tale castle, but the decorating that they did was beyond amazing. I also really liked having the wedding coordinators there the day of the event because they made everything run so smoothly. You would think that there might be some minor issues/problems that pop up on the day of - but with Makray I can honestly say there were none and the day went absolutely perfectly! My guests loved the venue, and my husband and I did not want the night to end. I would highly highly recommend Makray for any wedding or banquet event. I am hoping I get to attend more weddings there, that's how fantastic they were!

I loved having our reception at Makray. We were so happy with how everything turned out. The staff did a great job of letting make the reception extra personal. Makray was incredible to work with and I really appreciate everything they did to make our day extra special, like incorporate an ice cream sundae bar. The day went so smoothly because they were so easy to work with. We received a lot of compliments on the venue as well. The food is also very good! Highly recommend this venue. Big enough to hold a large crowd, but still provides that intimate feeling.

From the first visit to view the venue to the actual wedding reception. We all knew we had made the right choice. Audrea and Laurie and all the staff were very helpful with all decisions to be made. They guided us with their knowledge and expertise in planning a reception our daughter had dreamed of. The venue is beautiful inside and out. The appetizers and dinner delicious. Our wedding reception was held at Makray Memorial Golf Club in May 2015. We are so happy we chose Makray to make our day even more special. The golf course made a beautiful backdrop for our wedding photos and being able to use the balcony on a warm summer night was a huge hit with our guests. We had the filet mignon and chicken madeira for dinner and both were amazing! It was impossible to choose between the delicious food options during the tasting. The coordinators, Laurie, Lynda and Audrea were professional, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful throughout the planning process and on our wedding day. They were able to make suggestions based on their experiences and truly helped my vision for the reception come together. Since I was planning the wedding from Iowa, I was concerned about not being able to be there throughout the process but communication was never an issue. The coordinators were very responsive to our questions/requests and it was evident that they cared as much as we did about making our day all we hoped it would be. There are many options to customize already in the wedding package, but when I asked for something additional, Makray was ready and willing to help. The staff was attentive, polite and ready to help in any way. The waitress for the head table, Maria, was exceptional in making sure not only that we were able to eat our meal, but also in helping at the end of the evening. Overall, the night went very smoothly so that we could enjoy our reception. We continue to hear from guests about how the venue was absolutely beautiful and the dinner delicious! We've even had one of our guests ask for contact info for their own wedding! We are happy to highly recommend Makray!
