DO NOT BOTHER. The events team here is terrible!!! I tried booking a wedding - i was ready to pay full price up front and they dragged us on for MONTHS about dates. Then they made us wait on other people to book our days and said “since the other party declined, we can’t book you either”… MAKES NO SENSE. Why does another company declining a booking, mean that we can’t have it? They dragged us for MONTHS. Wasted so much of my time. We ended up switching to another hotel. Do not bother . They only want corporate events. Not weddings. Reviewed on 13-12-2023
Cecilia Moon(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-10-2020 Work with this venue only if you have enough time and you are a very patient person! The staff are so unprofessional and it was so hard to communicate with them. You will need to call them at least five times to get your answer! Otherwise they will just ignore you completely!!!! Charisse Winston(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-08-2018 My wife and I stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt during our wedding. We each booked two separate suites for our bridal party. Hotel was beautiful, staff was very attentive and the suites were spacious. Our suites came with Club Level access which allowed us to partake in the nightly HH and breakfast. Plenty of options to choose from.Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with the accounting department. My wife had several unauthorized charges initiated by Hyatt. Charges that could have been avoided if Hyatt had done the proper checks. They eventually refunded our money however it took a lot of effort and time to get them to do so. Reviewed on 20-09-2018
Jantsen Perey(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-12-2018 DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. We went in for a site visit and fell in love with the venue. We put a soft hold, and we were ready to put our deposit down upon Zoe writing up our proposal. After not hearing from her, we consistently tried to follow up and the answer was always “she’s in a meeting. She’s at a tasting. She’s out of the office today”. Several days later, we got an email saying that our date was no longer available because a bigger conference took it. There was NO communication in between that in telling us another client was interested. Instead of reaching out, or even rejecting us, she dodged us for weeks, and wasted our time. Very unprofessional!!! Reviewed on 16-01-2018
Amanda Haworth(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2016 I just had my wedding here in November 2016. I could not have picked a better venue. They were so great to work with - Jonathan was amazing. When my now husband, parents, and I went to look at the venue they made us feel so special and everything was personalized. This attention lasted until the end of the honeymoon (we stayed in a Hyatt hotel) and it was not just a way to sell the venue. At every chance they got, they would upgrade our room, give us club access, bring us food and champagne. The food was also delicious, which I know is rare at weddings. It was of the same quality we had during the tasting. I HIGHLY recommend this venue to any bride and groom. I promise you won't be disappointed. Reviewed on 22-11-2016
Zerine Kurian(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-11-2014 We had our wedding reception here last November and loved how everything turned out. The venue itself was beautiful; we were extremely happy with the ballroom, guest rooms, and all the amenities. Our ballroom had a a great view as well which the guests were able to enjoy during cocktail hour. The staff was excellent; very courteous, friendly and easy to work with. We had the pleasure of working with Jonathan DeFreitas and we couldn't say enough positive things about our experience. We worked w/ Maria Santana for our accommodations. She did a great job; even with last minute reservations, they were able to accommodate us. The honeymoon suite was amazing w/ beautiful views. Grateful to all the staff there for making our special day so memorable. Highly recommend this venue. Reviewed on 25-09-2015
Niki Everton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-05-2015 We set up a block of rooms at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in SD for our wedding in May. Every employee we encountered at the hotel was wonderful! They were especially accommodating when a guest who chose stay at another hotel wanted to switch over to the Grand Hyatt after seeing how beautiful the hotel is. The Booking Staff was able to make it happen right away! Thank you for the personalized service and for taking care of my guests! Reviewed on 17-09-2015
Tina Yang(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-06-2012 I saw an ad for the Manchester Grand flash by on Orbitz while looking for places to stay on our honeymoon. After a little bit of researching, we decided this was totally the place. We were given a military discount (my husband is in the Army) and booked a corner king room for the week. After we were checked in and got up to the room, talk about a view!! It had a great view of the bay and part of the city, and also overlooked the outdoor pool outside. The facility had everything you could possibly image, need, or just think about. There's a great bar up on the 40th floor that has a wrap around view of the whole city, which is amazing at night. The hotel is within walking distance of many sites, and also offer bicycle rentals for those that are a few miles off. They also have directions to catch the trolley or buses for all the tourists attractions like the Zoo and SeaWorld. Overall, great service and an absolutely amazing hotel. The staff was top-notch and very diverse coming from all parts of the world. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and knew the city pretty well so were able to suggest a number of places for us to visit besides all the main tourist places. Highly recommend any newly-weds to stay here for at least a week and just take it all in. Can't wait to stay there again, possibly for an anniversary trip? Reviewed on 08-07-2012
Robert Ditchik(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-11-2010 It is often said the two biggest fears people have are death and public speaking. But what those researchers who developed the list have markedly omitted is one of the biggest fears of all … getting married! \rFor a bride and groom to plan a wedding there are a significant amount of worries, but often overlooked is finding the perfect hotel accommodations for both you and your guests.\rAs a frequent traveler and a long term Hyatt Hotel Diamond Global Passport member, over the years I have become somewhat of a “hotel snob”. I recognize the importance of staying at a hotel that is in a good location, has a clean and comfortable room, and a professional and knowledgeable staff all at a reasonable price. Granted, it is easy enough to worry about booking a room for myself; however, the stress level becomes magnified when trying to also satisfy wedding guests who are used to staying at 4-star and 5-star hotels. Now add in the fact of personally wanting a hotel suite to thrill my bride-to-be and the situation becomes as dire as obtaining front row tickets to a Los Angeles Lakers playoff basketball game and sitting next to Jack Nicholson!\rWith our destination wedding planned on November 24, 2010 in San Diego, California, finding the perfect hotel accommodations was paramount. From downtown to the beach, the city of San Diego and its outlying areas offer a wide variety of hotels. Although there is an advantage with such a wide selection, there is also a disadvantage of trying to cut down that list. \rIronically, after an extensive search over several months, our choice of hotels were reduced down to two – the Hyatt at Mission Bay and the San Diego Manchester Grand Hyatt. My long time experience with the Hyatt chain has always been very favorable, so with either choice I knew I was in good hands. \rUltimately we decided on the San Diego Manchester Grand Hyatt. And what a fantastic choice it was! From better-than-competitive rates, to the most state-of-the-art on-line wedding reservation tracking system, to large and modern rooms with comfortable bedding, to the highest degree of guest care this hotel is to be commended. And for hotel restaurants, there are not many better than Sally’s! \rIn particular, my wife and I would like to thank and commend Ms. Stephanie Wancheck, the Convention Services Manager, for her outstanding attention to every one of our needs… and even more!\rAlthough the Grand Hyatt has over 1,600 rooms, Ms. Wancheck made us feel like we were staying at a much more intimate bed and breakfast. She and her staff’s attention to detail was impeccable. Despite our wedding party being less than 50 guests, Ms. Wancheck was in correspondence with us weekly all the way up to the time of our wedding to ensure everything was going as planned. This allowed us to focus on the other aspects of our wedding.\rThe “place de resistance” was the upgraded hotel suite Ms. Wancheck surprised us with. When we checked in we were upgraded to the Douglas Suite and she made sure our incredible room had a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries and truffles in our honor! The room wasn’t just an upgrade it was an “up-great”!\rOnce again, thank you to Ms. Wancheck and to all others involved at the Hyatt in helping make our wedding a special occasion and one we will always remember. Alexis Bortniker(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-09-2010 The location was beautiful, but the staff was sadly unresponsive. They also didnt realize they had another 600 person party at the same time on the balcony below where my wedding was so we had to move the location within the hotel at the last minute. The staff doesnt work together so you have to manage the individual parts, which eliminates the perk of using just one location. Reviewed on 24-09-2010
