Margaret Place is built for the discerning partier. The historic 1854 Greek Revival townhouse is focused on its classic New Orleans courtyard, hidden away from the park giving the venue its name. Interwoven beneath the lovingly restored architecture are strata of the technical infrastructure to support international-quality parties. That capability, the beauty of the space, our central location, and our unparalleled flexibility make us the choice for industry professionals and others seeking a distinctly New Orleans event without compromise. Uniquely Permissive Except for the bar, Margaret Place is a fully "open venue" where you can use any caterer, planner, or other vendor free from punitive fees and restrictions. Unlike other venues, we love a challenge and delight in seeing the space used in unusual ways. Our experience hosting a whole variety of events means that we know how to stretch the space. This is your party; our default answer is always, "Yes, and .." Uniquely Capable People love being in our lush courtyard, and we could have stopped there. Instead, we purposefully renovated the space over six years to National Park Service Standards to be the perfect venue. We layered in clever engineering to conceal the capabilities of a mid-sized state-of-the-art music venue within that historic fabric, there when you need it, gone when you don't. Then, we furnished the space with custom furniture produced by Curious Form in the Bywater to support flexibility within contemporary interiors that are minimal enough to let your decor and branding take center stage. Uniquely Effortless We've done the work ahead of time. Each event at Margaret Place includes a planning session allowing us to pass on the best practices we've learned from our 140+ prior events of all types. Our documentation and resources are comprehensive for those looking to dive in, but we're also continuously refining and simplifying. The result is that we're straightforward and easy to work with. In-house furniture, tenting, sound, lighting, and security are all included, and we even offer all-inclusive packages. Uniquely About You All of our major events are "exclusive use"; no hotel guests or others on-site. We offer weekend buyouts, full clears, and even white-labelling. For couples, we include two rooms for day-of use, which is part of a larger emphasis on your day-of experience enabled by our walkable and photogenic neighborhood. Margaret Place is on your team. We're here to disrupt a stale industry and elevate partying in a town known for it. This is not so much a venue as it is a love letter to the city from lifelong New Orleanian and owner-architect Trenton Gauthier. We recently hosted our wedding at Margaret Place and it was perfect! From the initial venue tour, Trent, was incredibly helpful at helping us envision our special day. The technology used to build floor plans ensured we had everything we needed to accommodate our guests and other vendors. The venue was also accommodating in letting us remove / use their existing furniture.There is an on-site bridal suite and groom suite which allowed our wedding party to get ready at the venue. We did the full bar package so our guests were able to order like they were at a normal bar which is rare for other wedding venues (the bar staff was excellent!). Another highlight was that we were able to use the venues stage covers to turn the pool into a perfect stage for our band. Overall we had a great experience and would recommend this venue!

We had a 150 person wedding with a buffet dinner (no formal sit down), a band, and a DJ - we wanted the feeling of the rooftop parties we throw in NY. The owner Trent and his team were super organized and dedicated to making sure our vision came to life. Trent helped us with our floor plan and politely made suggestions for changes based on his experience holding parties (which was way more extensive than ours). All the changes he suggested made our party better. He also helped us with vendors - in particular by suggesting our VJ Brendon Pechon whose lighting really made our dance floor special. Also, the place is beautiful when it's all glammed up. I don't think you need to do a lot - we did flowers and the VJ but otherwise used Margaret Place lighting and furniture. I can't say enough about how cool their projection set up is. The balcony from where the DJ played (we brought in a house music DJ from NY) gave the party even more of a fun atmosphere. Their bar package was great and even our wine aficionado friends complimented us on the selection (which was the basic one). We really feel like we threw the best party ever - our friends said as much. I know this was largely in part to Margaret Place being such a great venue from start to finish.

One word, magic. We had our wedding at Margaret Place in October of 2023, and I cannot say enough about the staff, building and energy of this place! They made our wedding magical and seamless. I am beyond grateful to The staff of Margaret Place for the amazing experience! I truly could not have asked for a more amazing wedding! The bridal suite was perfect for my bridal party of 9! We had plenty of space for hair/makeup and the ladies loved the coffee shop! Everything was PERFECT!!!

The owners take an absorbent amount of pride in their venue. Itās beautiful inside and richly decorated. Everything inside is modern and state of the art. The owners are extremely accommodating and professional people. The venue is big enough to host 100ā150 people at ease. They have a custom area designed for catering. Across the street is a small park. We really enjoyed the Bridal suite and groomsmen suite. The bridal suite had the best bed Iāve ever been in. Margaret Place was the perfect setting for our wedding. It's a tropical escape nestled in the heart of New Orleans. We were first drawn to the space because of its exposed brick and wall of tropical plants but the venue turned out to be so much more than that. My husband and I both got suites to get ready in. The bridal suite was spacious and included a massage chair, modern bathroom, tons of natural light and a wet bar. We had our first look photos on the balcony and the park across the street made for the most perfect photos with wedding party and family. When the sun went down the twinkle lights came on and we danced the night away. I couldn't be happier with everything about Margaret Place!

The owner and staff were great to work with from the start. Very professional, answered all of our questions, and helped us to ensure our special day/night was perfect. We cannot thank them enough!Margaret Place is absolutely stunning. Everything from the floors, walls, beautiful chandeliers, colors & decor, and the courtyard just make you feel like you are in a magical place. You can see how much attention to every detail was made to make this place the stunner it is. It has the perfect New Orleans charm that we were looking for. We wanted something spacious for our guests, yet intimate as well. All of our guests were amazed at how beautiful the venue was and talked about how perfect a fit it was for my husband and I. After seeing all of the pictures of Margaret Place, I knew it was the one before we even saw it in person. When we did tour it, I was absolutely floored at how gorgeous the place was and how it fit exactly what I was looking for. It was the perfect place for the most perfect day.Laurel was super responsive all throughout the wedding planning process and made sure to keep me on top of everything, including setting up a google drive to house all of the important wedding documents and contracts. The owner, Trent, was kind enough to even film our ceremony when he saw that we didn't hire a videographer. This meant the absolute world to us. He also gave my husband a whiskey glass that has an iconic New Orleans water meter etched into the bottom of it. Two extremely thoughtful things to do. I can't even put into words how nice it was to have the bridal and groom suite all day, as it made getting ready so much easier. I could go on and on about Margaret Place and how perfect it was for my special day. If you're looking for that New Orleans, boho yet modern vibe, Margaret Place is the venue for you. I PROMISE you won't regret it!!!

The moment we toured Margaret Place, we fell in love with the venue. Itās the perfect combination of style, charm, and hospitality. The aesthetic is immaculate, and I have no doubt that Trent and his team could match whatever mood a customer is aspiring to achieve for their event. We had local guests and out-of-towners, alike, rave about the beauty of the venue. The Margaret Place staff were professional, competent, and accommodating to all our needs. With it being a semi- outdoor venue, one of our biggest fears came true ā the dreaded rain. However, the staff enacted a rain plan with grace and efficiency ā so much so that no one would have ever guessed it was our alternate strategy. I will forever look back on Margaret Place with immense fondness ā it was such a perfect venue to an incredible day.

My husband and I consider ourselves lucky to have been married here. We were originally planning on a larger wedding but decided to scale everything back and go for a more intimate ambiance. While scrolling through The Knot for an appropriate sized venue I knew Margaret Place would be perfect. From the very first viewing, Trent and his team were wonderful at communicating and assisting with coordinating everything for our big day. They worked seamlessly with our vendors which made everything on our wedding day breeze. In fact, my husband and I were shocked at how mellow we felt the day of our wedding. The entire venue is impeccably decorated creating the perfect backdrop for photos. Especially the bridal suite. The lighting is amazing with plenty of space to get ready. You could not put up a single piece of decor and your wedding would still be stunning. I found that the venue did not have as many restrictions as other venues I spoke with and were very open and considerate in creating your ideal vision for your wedding even allowing you to bring in your own catering, decor and/or planning vendors. It was also so nice knowing they have a groomās suite which many other venues do not offer. We received so many compliments from our family and friends! My husband and I also spent the night so we didnāt have to coordinate staying elsewhere on our wedding night and I love the idea of being able to stay there for anniversaries! I could not suggest this venue more! For those that know indeed!

We had a fantastic experience working with Margaret Place for our wedding reception! Leading up to our wedding, they made sure to ask us for the information they needed from us well in advance. We felt that what is included in their offerings is transparent, upfront, and easy to understand. They were very helpful with putting together the floor plan, which turned out to be perfectly set up to allow our guests to meet each other and mingle. Margaret Place is a beautiful and well thought out venue. My wife enjoyed the get-ready room and the perks it offered, including an excellent massage chair! We also loved the variety of areas where people could hang out - the courtyard, the parlor, the secluded sitting area in the front, the lounge. Overall, we are very glad to have found Margaret Place our reception location!

We live out of state and booked Margaret Place without seeing it in person. We were able to do a virtual tour and the website was very transparent. From day one the communication was quick and easy. It was nice to be able to choose our vendors, and our event contact, Laurel, was flexible and willing to work with us. Since the time we booked, they have added a number of services, which to me make this place a no-brainer (e.g., bar service, in-house furniture). We finally saw the place in person a few months before our wedding. We met the owners, who seem to look at the place as a labor of love. We geeked out on the high-tech features. When we saw it in person we knew we had made the right choice.Our wedding day went incredibly smoothly. There were people on site to help with any tech issues, and they checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I got ready in the beautiful bridal suite, and the people in the cafe downstairs very kindly brought coffees for our group. It was also nice to be able to get lunch right on site. Everyone commented that place was gorgeous - especially when the sun went down. The mood lighting is great. The decor/wallpaper makes for great photos. We had a wedding of about 50 people and it was perfect. Our string quartet was set up in the gazebo and we initially had floating candles in the pool, but after dinner the kids in our group were able to jump in, which was super fun. We live out of state and booked Margaret Place without seeing it in person. We were able to do a virtual tour and the website was very transparent. From day one the communication was quick and easy. It was nice to be able to choose our vendors, and our event contact, Laurel, was flexible and willing to work with us. Since the time we booked, they have added a number of services, which to me make this place a no-brainer (e.g., bar service, in-house furniture). We finally saw the place in person a few months before our wedding. We met the owners, who seem to look at the place as a labor of love. We geeked out on the high-tech features. When we saw it in person we knew we had made the right choice.Our wedding day went incredibly smoothly. There were people on site to help with any tech issues, and they checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. I got ready in the beautiful bridal suite, and the people in the cafe downstairs very kindly brought coffees for our group. It was also nice to be able to get lunch right on site. Everyone commented that place was gorgeous - especially when the sun went down. The mood lighting is great. The decor/wallpaper makes for great photos. We had a wedding of about 50 people and it was perfect. Our string quartet was set up in the gazebo and we initially had floating candles in the pool, but after dinner the kids in our group were able to jump in, which was super fun. We had our ceremony in May around 6:30 pm, left for our 2nd line around 6:45 and then had a cocktail hour from 7-8 pm. The sun set just in time for dinner and the space really came alive at night. The music sounded great and we used Tap Truck Nola as our bar so they were able to pull right in underneath the awning in the back and just bring the whole atmosphere together. Overall we are thrilled with how our wedding went and our guests have continued to rave about the space. Would absolutely recommend the Margaret Place to anyone considering using this space!

This was the most amazing experience! It truly was an \"experience\". We hosted our daughter's wedding reception at Margaret Place in October. We didn't want the typical cookie cutter reception venue. We wanted a true New Orleans experience and what we got was so much more than we hoped for. The owner was there for our tour and explained all of the character of the hotel. Everything is first rate from the original 1800s windows, floors and chandeliers to the Versace wall paper. The beautiful courtyard and interior common spaces (sitting rooms and dining space) provided the perfect setting to show off the New Orleans character and left our guests speechless. There were more than enough bathrooms and spaces to move around. The sound system was incredible! I wish I could upload pictures with my review. Both the interior and exterior wedding pictures came out so beautiful with the hotel as the setting. Just amazing!!! Do yourself a favor and go take a tour! You will book on the spot!Although MP has New Orleans charm it is completely high tech! We rented out the hotel for the weekend, which I highly recommend, and each room was set up with the most amazing high tech systems. I have never seen a shower like the ones in that hotel. The bed and bedding was incredible! Truly, we had the whole hotel at our disposal for the weekend. It was so relaxing to not have to drive and transport everything needed for the wedding day. The makeup artist and hair people came and did the bridal party in the GORGEOUS and HUGE bridal suite. The owners were accommodating and professional. They had Kyo stay with us at the hotel to ensure we had everything we needed. She was awesome!!! But, none of this would have been possible without Becca, their recommended wedding planner. She worked seamlessly between Trent, the owner, and my daughter and our vendors. She has an INCREDIBLE assistant, Jessica. I just can't say enough about Jessica. She literally made sure we had everything we needed throughout the weekend. We just loved her. Kyo did a lot, too. :)I don't typically write reviews but I had to this time. This was our daughter's and (now) son in law's special day and we wanted everything to be perfect. It was so much more than that. I am grateful to have wonderful memories of a very special weekend at Margaret Place. As you can see the venue is gorgeous and has the perfect mix of ancient French quarter characteristic with modern finishings in the main suite. The option to have your guest flow from the indoor space with beautiful large windows to the perfectly tree shaded outdoor space is what sold me! Becca and the other staff were warm and welcoming to us, the vendors, and our guests as they arrived. The entire event ran smoothly with not one issue and everyone who attended left singing the venueās praises. Awesome group of folks to book with!!

Short summary version: Margaret Place is amazing and I cannot recommend it highly enough.Ā Not only are the owner and staff a pleasure to work with, but the building is beautiful, clean, and has a lovely balance of romantic/classical structure with modern amenities.Ā It was truly the perfect place for my wedding and is a hidden gem in the city.Longer detailed version:I had my wedding and reception with 50 guests at Margaret Place in April 2021 and it was a crucial part in making my wedding day absolutely amazing!Ā The venue is stunning - the landscaping, the courtyard, and the exposed brick creates a natural and romantic atmosphere. Ā The interior also echoes this vibe with its spacious sitting room, open dining room and kitchen decorated with designer wallpaper. and lots of natural light.Ā The owner made sure to balance modern renovations with keeping the charm and historic architecture of the building and the end result is beautiful. Ā We loved that as a \"micro\" hotel, there were a total of 5 rooms, including a beautiful bridal suite.Ā We ended up renting the entire venue (including all 5 rooms) for the day/evening of the wedding and it was wonderful having the venue to ourselves making the entire event feel more personal instead of a bigger hotel/venue where there would be other non-wedding guests.Ā I didn't realize just how exhausted we would be at the end of the evening, but it was so nice to be at a venue with rooms so we could just walk upstairs to our amazing suite at the end and have a beautiful space to rest. Ā Speaking of the rooms, they are AMAZING! Before finding Margaret Place, my mom and I toured several other NOLA hotels and venues were self-described as \"renovated\" and we were continuously disappointed - the rooms were often old and just seemed really generic.Ā The rooms at Margaret Place have amazing modern touches such as a massage chair in the bridal suite, bluetooth speakers, balconies with city views, new furniture, ect.Ā The courtyard is well maintained with a beautiful gazebo and a small pool that can be covered to use as a stage.Ā The two rooms in the side house also have a wrap around balcony over the courtyard. Overall, it definitely feels like a true upscale boutique hotel.One of my favorite parts of Margaret Place are the dual balconies in the bridal suite - one has a spectacular balcony overlooking the CBD and the CCC bridge and the other overlooks the inner courtyard.Ā These were some of our favorite places for formal pictures.Ā The room also had beautiful etched glass doors, floor to ceiling windows, a completely modern bathroom with a touch controlled shower/tub, and a fridge.Everyone from the owner, the event coordinator, and the other staff members were outstandingly professional, polite, and accommodating.Ā They were wonderful to work with and just added to the overall great experience we had at Margaret Place. From beginning to end, the customer service provided by Trenton and Jennifer exceeded all expectations. They were attentive to detail, provided great suggestions and insight, and were extremely accommodating overall. Not to mention- the rooms are AWESOME. Luckily, Ā great weather matched with Margaret Placeās ambiance, and the DJ we hired provided the perfect experience for my guests. My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at Margaret Place Hotel and it was absolutely perfect! The venue is beautiful, and the courtyard is perfect for any bride who wants an outdoor wedding with the ability to also use indoor spaces like the parlor and dining room. The courtyard makes you feel like you're not in the center of New Orleans, but instead somewhere private and romantic. The bridal suite they have upstairs was perfect for getting ready the day of, and it was so nice to not have to travel after the reception and just stay in the bridal suite that night. There are also four other rooms upstairs for close family or friends to stay at as well if they choose to, but Margaret Place won't book anyone in those rooms the night of your wedding unless you approve them which was very thoughtful and avoided random guests booking the hotel the weekend of our wedding. They worked with us on everything and allowed us to make our day exactly what we wanted. I've never seen a venue or boutique hotel with all the details that Margaret Place has, everything from a scribit that draws your wedding logo on the entrance wall to the massage chair in the bridal suite. They were incredibly flexible with how we wanted things, and allowed us to bring all our decorations the day before during the rehearsal which was incredibly helpful. It's also very close to the French Quarter for any guests who want to go out after the reception is over! All of our guests were stunned by the venue and had nothing but fantastic things to say. They worked with us throughout all the changes that were caused by the covid restrictions and were incredibly adaptable. We're so glad we chose Margaret Place and can't wait to celebrate future anniversaries by staying in one of their boutique rooms.

Margaret Place is the perfect wedding and reception venue! We heard about this venue when scrambling for a ceremony location due to our ever-changing 2020 COVID wedding plans and I couldn't be happier that it worked out the way it did. The hotel is beautiful and everyone was extremely accommodating. My guests could not stop talking about how perfect the venue was. It was a gorgeous, intimate, modern venue and I would recommend it to anyone. The location is also ideal for a wedding or party as it sits in the perfect proximity to downtown and uptown.

It was a gorgeous, intimate, modern venue and I would recommend it to anyone. The location is also ideal for a wedding or party as it sits in the perfect proximity to downtown and uptown.

We had our reception at the Margaret Place and it was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! The Margaret Place was actually our 4th venue due to COVID and the hurricanes, but if we had known about it earlier it would have been our preferred choice! After our 3rd venue was wiped away in Hurricane Zeta 3 weeks before the wedding, we were frantically looking for another venue and our wedding coordinator, Tori Patton with Reverie, told us about Margaret Place. THAT DAY, Trent was at the space and able to give us a thorough tour of the place. He is the architect of the place as well, which was really cool to see all the modernizing that he had done with the place (including the hotel rooms that were available). We were looking for an outdoor venue in downtown New Orleans that accompanied a New Orleans atmosphere since this was my husband's Maine family's first time visiting New Orleans, along with a few of my Alabama friends. The space was so accommodating for vendors (including a band stage-- that is set up over the pool, a red brick kitchen for food, and a gorgeous gazebo for our wedding cake). We closed off and used the front parlor to eat before we went outside to meet the rest of the guests (definitely recommended), while the band played and guest received passed hor d'oeurvres and drinks. After we opened up the front parlor to the rest of the guests, where we placed tables and chairs for people to sit and eat if they wanted. My New Orleans family were raving about how authentic the space felt, and how it was accommodating for even the little ones running around. My photographers (Studio Tran) were SO EXCITED about the space because it made for really cool pictures. One of my photographers even went up to the balcony to take some shots and he was most excited about those. The sound system and dance floor were perfect! I would use this space again for an event and cannot recommend the space enough! Thanks for such an amazing experience and being so accommodating (especially last minute!!). - The Morgan's

We absolutely loved Margaret Place. We originally planned on a large wedding, but we scaled way back due to Covid. We wanted an outdoor area to have the ceremony and the reception and Margaret Place was perfect. We had a small ceremony in the courtyard then quickly flipped the space to accommodate tables and chairs for dinner. We used the bridal suite to get ready during the day and it was perfect. Becca and Trent did a lot of work to make the day perfect. The lighting in the courtyard at night is beautiful. Our caterer used the commercial kitchen to cook the dinner and it was lovely. The dƩcor is gorgeous and the bathrooms are really nice. I would highly recommend this venue for weddings and events.

My husband and I got married at Margaret Place in 2018 and absolutely loved the lay out of the space. It is was super important to us to have an \"indoor-outdoor\" feel and our guests were blown away by the NOLA courtyard vibes. I got ready on site, which helped me feel included in the process but separate enough from the hubub to be able to relax and enjoy getting ready- I loved peeking out to see the progress! Dancing under the stars was so magical, and I it was great to be able to keep all the buffets and food indoors. The location of the venue was also really cool for our guests, we ended up just down the street at a local bar for our unofficial after party, and when some guests wanted to keep the night moving they were a quick ride to The French Quarter (we wanted to just get to bed, ha!). Now that the space has been overhauled, I'd recommend it even more - and don't over look the possibility of photos and aerial shots from those rad balconies.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding reception at Margaret Place in New Orleans. We loved the elegant details and old school New Orleans charm of this beautiful estate. Trent was very accommodating with all of the decorations that we wanted to set up and the place looked amazing. We had a live band set up along the brick wall in the courtyard space - the acoustics were great - and our guests loved dancing beneath the string lighting. The kitchen was exactly what our caterer needed, and during the event the flow through the courtyard, ballroom, and dining room was perfect. As an architect, Trent has paid incredible attention to the historic integrity of this special building, while also integrating state of the art technology, building systems, and luxuries. Additionally, the location in the Lower Garden District meant bar hopping after the reception was really easy and fun! A few of our guests stayed at the Margaret Place bed and breakfast during the weekend, and they left with glowing reviews. Overall, it was an unforgettable evening thanks to Trent & Margaret Place!

Meet the Margaret Place Team
Trenton Gauthier (Owner) It makes a difference when you're working with the owner. I'm a native New Orleanian, graduating from MPCDS before getting my master's in Architecture from Tulane. Growing up, my house was always the party house, but I fell into this work by falling in love with the property right before graduating in 2014. I live on-site with my wife, Jen, and our whippet Patty Cake, but I travel extensively to stay up on trends. I'm still a full-time practicing architect and volunteer my time with the Lower Garden District Association to work on projects to improve and promote the neighborhood.
