Marina Village is a beautiful wedding venue located in sunny San Diego, CA. For couples dreaming of a seaside wedding, this charming waterfront venue is ideally situated in one of San Diego's most desirable locations. Couples can profess their undying love in the warm embrace of Mission Bay’s colorful sunsets, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration of unity.
Decade upon decade, the venue, only a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean, has served to accommodate guests from across the globe. As its name suggests, the venue operates as a marina for those sea-loving folk to house their boats. Locals spend sunny afternoons lingering on the lush-carpeted gardens, watching yachts come and go like the tides. The venue celebrates the joys of life and the coming together of souls.
The venue is sprinkled with beautiful trees that offer some shaded respite from the Southern-Californian sun while the marina is littered with sea-faring vessels. Pergolas covered in bougainvillea plants line the pathways, creating scenes of a floral dream. The al fresco setting gives you room to breathe and drink in those important moments you don’t ever want to forget on your big day. Wood-framed buildings protrude over edges of the marina and the Tuscan-inspired architecture sets the scene for a magical event.
The north and south lawn are picturesque outdoor event spaces that can facilitate your wedding day ceremony for which they provide chairs and an altar. Weddings of all kinds are welcomed and celebrated here. With several flexible banquet hall locations, each distinguished in its own way, from vaulted ceilings to crystal chandeliers, couples can get creative with their layouts. The venue is available to host non-religious, religious, and interfaith ceremonies. Dressing rooms will be assigned to wedding parties so that couples and their entourages can prepare for the festivities in comfort. Their excellent and professional service staff aims to make your special occasion a memory never to forget. With rental and equipment services, couples have all of the tools to create a wedding space they have always dreamed of.

Casey Rapp(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-03-2020 This was such a great venue for any wedding. There are so many options for all size weddings and someone on the grounds to decorate if needed. We were given a great vendor list and the staff was very great with communication. We were able to have our ceremony and reception at the same location and that was perfect. I definitely recommend Marina Village for any kind of event. Reviewed on 08-04-2020

Sarah Hernandez(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-03-2019 Loved having my wedding here! It is such a beautiful venue and the prices are not bad! I had my ceremony on the South Lawn. Loved the back drop and all the room on the grass. My reception was in the Bayview Room. Loved that as well. Very rustic and so much room. The view of the boats are amazing. But just know the lights inside the room are not always there. If you want them you need to ask in advance from the vendor who does it!! I almost didn't have them because no one from Marina Village told me in advance! Reviewed on 08-04-2019

Charisse Winston(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-08-2018 If your looking for an affordable catering company and wedding venue in the San Diego area, I would highly recommend working with Kim DeHaven at Ranch Events. My wife and I were recently married on the patio of the Seaside Room (~150 guests) at Marina Village on Saturday, August 25, 2018 and our ceremony was in the adjoining space. Ranch Events exclusively caters the Seaside Room and to be honest, the Marina Village is dated and is in desperate need of renovation. HOWEVER, the staff at Ranch Events, especially Kim were able to execute my vision perfectly. Given that this was a \"destination wedding\" for ~70% of the guests in attendance, I hosted a number of different activities for my guest to enjoy which include a wine tasting (wine barrels provided by Ranch Events), cigar bar/dessert table (@brilliantreatsemc), Paint n' Sip (@PainNoir), an inflatable Photobooth (@cakephotobooth) and of course open bar. The space was conducive for all of these activities without everyone feeling clustered together. Cons:Seaside room is dated You have to bring your own mixers (cranberry juice, tonic water, soda, etc.) Pros: AFFORDABLE - was able to have a wedding on a Saturday for the same cost as having it on a Friday or Sunday Complementary Wedding Date hold until someone else inquires about your date. If that occurs, then Ranch Events requests a deposit to secure the date. You can bring your own alcohol (all you pay is ~$350 surcharge which includes liability insurance, glassware, etc) Lots of free parking and guests can leave their cars overnight if they get too drunkCatering menu is extensive, affordable ($~26/plate), and very tasty!!!!!In house bakery and floral department that works with all types of budgetsA plethora of decor to choose from including a gigantic flower wall and farm tables!!!!! Lisa McManamon(groom)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-04-2018 The service up to the event was on point. On my wedding day some one launched fireworks near our room (the Sunset room). This resulted in my room being filled with smoke and ending the reception early. All of my guest ran out of the room because of the smoke. Each room was suppose to have a guard to stop this and it states no fireworks on the contract. After the smoke cleared and my reception ended early I had a security guard accuse me and my bride of launching fireworks off. Now it is a week later and I have called four times 2 times I left voicemails and the other two i spoke with April (Tues) and then Trish (Thur), Each claiming they will get back to me after my reception was ruined. They have no problem demanding money but they lied several times. On top of that they haven't even attempted speak with me or my bride about the incident after we spent over $20,000 on our day Reviewed on 21-04-2018
Amber George(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-01-2019 The venue itself is nice and the prices are very affordable. However there was little to no help on site during the event. I rented the sunset room and went without power to my dj booth for 2 plus hours. This means that we had no music or sound for my guests when they arrived and it totally killed the mood. By the time we came in from taking photos the guests had been bored so long they were tired and ended up making it an early night. We were so disappointed. When maintenance did arrive their solution was to run a cord through the middle of everything and have my dj share the same outlets as my caterer. After the event I called to complain and ask for a courtesy credit. I felt I paid full price for a room that did not work correctly. They told me it was not there fault and that they were unwilling to make any attempt to rectify the situation. They said just decorator blew the power with led lights and I should talk to them if I have a problem. However the testimony from both my caterer and my dj was that the room should have been about to handle it since it is made for special events and my decorator didn't set up anything crazy. Additionally even if they did blow the power maintenance should have been more helpful and come up with a better solution to the issue. I could not have been more disappointed and felt completely ripped off. Reviewed on 17-11-2017

Christina Heald(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-10-2015 We had our ceremony on the South Lawn at Marina Village. Marina Village is a beautiful location, and has the perfect backdrop for a wedding! We also had our reception at Marina Village, which was in the Seaside Room. It is worth noting however that the Seaside room is leased and run by Ranch Events. If you book this room you will have to use Ranch Events for catering. For us this was perfect because we wanted to use them initially anyway. The grounds at Marina Village are beautiful. The only drawback to this location is that it is very popular for weddings, for good reason too! There were 2-3 additional weddings there the same day as ours. The prices are pretty reasonable. Sianiu Tates(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2015 I chose the Marina Village for their atmosphere and also because they allow you to have whatever vendor you choose. What I didn't like is that they didn't advise me that the vendors needed proof of liability insurance until I paid them. It was no where in the contract and they are aware that it isn't. This was upsetting because a lot of brides either don't know or are not thinking of this and to tell me after I've paid without giving me a chance to ask my vendors if they have it was a big let down and lack of customer service. On top of that, many of the vendors I used worked there before and were never asked for it and when I asked them about it, they had no real answer. Outside of that, the place was beautiful enough to forget that hick-up. Reviewed on 18-08-2015

Christina Kosak(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2014 The wedding was a success, thanks to our family and friends who helped. The location is beautiful, but the staff here at Marina Village weren't so successful. They were very disorganized. I had talked with a consultant there many times via email and phone about the details. I had ordered enough white table cloths for a cake table, gift table, buffet table, and all the other tables that are there to be used in a ceremony & reception. I only got 11 table cloths which was not enough for all my tables. I ordered the white wooden chairs for the reception and ceremony and I ended up with chairs that have cloth on them and was told we were going to be charged for the upgrade even though I specifically told them I wanted the white wooden chairs and more than 11 white table cloths. Then, a few months before the wedding, I wanted the Marine Room instead of the Dockside Room. I was told it was available for upgrade that day and would be $100.00 extra, which I was fine with. My mom went by the office to put the deposit down for the Marine Room and found out we couldn't have that room on that day because it was already reserved. The consultant I was working with the whole time \"forgot\" to book that other couple's wedding for that room for that day. Reviewed on 06-06-2015

At Marina Village, you rent a room and it comes with tables and chairs. You then bring in your own linens, caterer, drinks, etc. It was so fun putting together my ideal wedding without the constraints of having to use a specific cake vendor, or caterer, or DJ that other venues require of you. As it got closer to the wedding day, Marina Village was very flexible and easy to work with when it came to adding tables and chairs, extending our reception and more. \r\rThe room itself was really cool. The Bayview Room is two stories, which gives you extra room upstairs for lounge chairs, a photo booth, or a kid's area. We have over 130 people and there was a ton of room so we didn't feel stuffed in there, but the layout didn't make it feel like you were completely spread out from people either. \r\rWe also had our ceremony on one of their lawns, which turned out beautifully as well. Marina Village provided us with a nice arch that our florist decorated, as well as a nice and clean aisle runner. \r\rI would highly recommend this venue to anyone! Reviewed on 07-04-2014

Christie Pond(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-07-2013 When looking for a venue I ultimately chose Marina Village for several reasons including price, location, and parking. Marina Village had lower rates than most places and the views were great, very San Diego. I rented the north lawn and the Sunset Room. Both were excellent and having the ceremony and reception at the same site was great. My only small negative is that I wasnt able to have my rehearsal at the venue due to other weddings the day before mine. While I understand they are a business and if someone wants to rent the lawn they are going to rent to them, it was a little hectic and weird to have my rehearsal at a completely separate site. We originally wanted to do both ceremony and reception but things happened and we ended up getting married before our original date. The customer service was great. We mainly talked to Victoria, she ended up leaving sometime this year before June. She was very helpful and understanding with all our changes throughout the year before our actual date.\r We had our reception in the Bayview Room and it was amazing. I like the fact that you are able to do everything yourself with this venue. I do recommend that you either start your set up for the room right at 9am, the earliest you can get in your room, or have family help out decorating. That was my only downfall, I was late to my own reception, but thats my fault.\r For the price and location I believe Marina Village is a beautiful place for your ceremony and/or reception Reviewed on 21-06-2013
Lauren Brothers(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-05-2013 Marina Village is a great place to host a wedding reception. It was very easy to work with the staff at Marina Village. It is a great value and they don't have a pre-set vendor list! My husband and I had attended two wedding receptions here prior to our wedding, we personally would highly recommend the Bayview Room. It has a great view of the Marina, and upstairs balcony, bathrooms inside the room, a bar and a back area for the caterer. While I had wanted the Baja room I am actually really glad we didn't get that room after attending a wedding reception there. It was a really awkward lay out. Reviewed on 05-06-2013
Tiffany Stark(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-04-2013 This was a perfect venue for us. They set up the archway and chairs for the ceremony. The price is unbeatable but the service wasn't always top notch...depending on who was helping you and the information they provided wasn't consistent. For example, we were told that since we were the last wedding of the day, we didn't need to pick up the flower petals. Then, when it came down to confirming everything 2 weeks before the day, I was told that if we didn't pick them up, we would be charged. When I stated I was told differently, the staff member said \"well, would you like a mess left for your wedding?\" and she suggested that I bring a rake to clean them up or rent their isle runner. Since I don't have a rake (or an extra one for that matter to bring to my wedding), we rented the runner. Sarah Dawson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-06-2012 We had our wedding reception in Marina Village's Seaside Room, which is actually owned by Ranch Events. While the Seaside Room does lock you into using Ranch as your caterer, their food is so good that it's actually a plus! The view is amazing, and the room can hold up to 600 people. The large windows offer gorgeous light during the day and give the room a sort of golden glow at sunset. There is ample parking, and it is very easy for guests to find. Courtney Holtz(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-06-2011 Marina Village was a GREAT option for our wedding! They worked with us on our budget and gave us a significant discount for having our wedding ceremony and reception at their location. It was a CLASSY option for a VERY small budget. We were amazed with the quality! \r\rWe chose the Baja Room because we loved the Spanish architecture and the multiple rooms (buffet room, patio, entrance room, large dance floor, bathrooms, etc). The only downside to our room was that there was no built-in speaker system, so we were forced to hire a DJ with his own equipment, but that was fine. The only other thing that we weren't happy about was for our rehearsal ceremony that we scheduled--they did not set up in time for us to have a run through--so I went to the office and they called and fixed it right away, but they were still about an hour late. Other than those couple things, it was a PERFECT location...it was the perfect spot for our wedding and we loved it. We worked mostly with April and Jenny as our consultants. They answered all my questions, helped me make decisions (on things such as floor plan and room choice), and they were GREAT about always getting back to me in a timely manner and keeping me up to date with payment reminders etc.\r\rOverall we were VERY happy with Marina Village as our wedding venue. :)\r\rP.S. the sunsets are AMAZING from Marina Village (especially because the bayside wall is practically ALL window). They do have various amenities and equipment (PA system, etc.) for your usage as well. If you are interested in tulle and twinkle light decorations, ask to be put in touch with Pedro. Bethany Jordan(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-10-2010 My groom and I scoured San Diego for an outdoor venue with trees and grass, which is unusually difficult commodity to find here without paying a ridiculous amount of money.\r\rHowever, we found *exactly* what we were looking for in Marina Village. Marina Village was the first venue my groom and I both completely agreed on. It was inexpensive, and the price included chair and arbor set up and take down. I was a little concerned when they said there were no foul weather accommodations, but when I woke up to rain on my wedding day, they called to ask if I'd like to use one of their empty rooms for the ceremony. I declined, and thankfully the rain stopped, but they very considerately made sure all the chairs were wiped down and dry for my guests.\r\rThe only reason I didn't give them five stars is it was really difficult to get them to return my messages. If I managed to reach them in the office, it was no problem to answer my questions, but if I somehow missed them, they never returned my calls.\r\rStill, overall a completely positive experience; I would definitely recommend it to any and all brides looking for a nice, inexpensive venue. The bathrooms that were closest to our room were closed, and the guests had to walk quite a distance to the bathrooms. Lastly, 1 security guard told us that it would be okay if we went over our 5 hour time limit, since everyone was behaving themselves, but another security guard came in and made us leave, saying he would charge us for the extra time! Alison Faulkner(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-07-2010 I used Marina village for my July 2010 wedding. We ended up renting the Sunset room (best room in my opinion). It's on the second floor and has amazing bay windows overlooking the harbor. This place was great because they allow you to bring in your own music, decorations (including staples), catering, just about anything to make your event unique. All in all, we payed $1,200 for the day, plus a $400 cleaning deposit, which we got back a week after the wedding. The only downsides that I can think of for this particular room is the carpeting (pretty old and ugly) and the fact that it does not have an elevator even though it's on the second floor.
