Beautiful Park with water features and gardens
Rental space for indoor events as well as outdoor events. Beautiful gardens and water features add to backdrop. Space for large or small events as we have over 155 acres. Convenient East Sioux Falls location along Arrowhead Parkway/East 26th Street right on the east edge of Sioux Falls! Bring your own caterer-- tables and chairs provided for indoor events. The Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum is a non-profit organization and a beautiful park like no other. Our formal gardens features a waterfall, pond and bridge and a more informal wooded areas with a creek that runs through it which includes a bridge and scenic settings. Come and see what we have to offer! There is a photo opportunity everywhere you look! Exciting completed project at the Arboretum. In our formal gardens on the wedding lawn there was a new wedding pergola added to the Rose Garden for weddings and events. It is a massive and beautiful, with 16 stone pillars and finished off with a beautiful wooden structure on top. There are 4 areas in the formal gardens for ceremonies with the two largest having a max capacity of 400 - 500. We have a newly finished lower level with an attached garden and patio that works nicely for the ceremony in the attached garden with a nice flow from indoors to outdoor for the reception. The max capacity indoors is 100 guests. A project in the lower level patio includes a pergola with stone pillars which includes a water feature and stairway leading to the upper deck level. This will enhance the wedding and event experience going forward. The Arboretum was really great to work with. The ladies there were very sweet and helpful, and the price was reasonable. We had the ceremony on the wedding lawn in the lower part of the park. We chose that spot because of the shelter from the sun and South Dakota wind. (The formal gardens would have been a beautiful spot as well, but that is such an open area that we felt it would be less forgiving with weather.) Unfortunately the wedding lawn area ended up having too much sun for us (we had a 1:30 pm ceremony on a 90+ degree humid day, but a 4 pm wedding probably would have been fine), so we relocated our seating area to the edge of the wedding lawn instead of the middle to get guests out of the sun as much as possible. That seemed to work pretty well. We could have used a little more parking space, but we made it work. I was glad I was wearing wedge heels; the lawn was a little soft due to recent rain, and the path leading from the parking lot and formal garden consists of a coarse rock. It's a beautiful area, and we did many of our wedding pictures there as well, which was very convenient. I had my first look with Dad in the formal gardens, and my first look with my husband under the big willow tree (same place where he proposed to me!). The creek flowing through the area gives a lovely ambiance. Great experience with the Arboretum!
