Located in North Adams, MA, Mass MoCA is a stunning museum venue that is ideal for unique and memorable weddings. Hosting a myriad of modern art, this destination is a reconstructed masterpiece itself. Once a factory, this building's 250,000 square feet has been refitted to house gallery spaces. MASS MoCA is always changing its collection of exhibits. This means that your wedding will benefit from an entirely unique backdrop, which is particular to the time of hosting. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are available, and the rental space is entirely customizable. From cozy galleries to grand, vaulted-ceilings, this venue has areas suited to small gatherings as well as those that number up to 400 people. The well-appointed Robert W. Wilson Building offers 130,000 square feet. There, you and your guests can admire river views through historic windows. The Museum Galleries are suited to those with minimalistic tastes and the Sol LeWitt Galleries cater to those with eclectic preferences. Also featured there are views of Berkshire Hills. Anywhere from 50 to 200 guests can attend an event in either gallery. Since this building comes with over 200 years of history, you can be sure that it will leave a lasting impression upon guests. The complex includes plenty of 19th-century structures and covers approximately one-third of North Adams' business district. The premises were first the site of an electric company, then an electronics plant. Its newest iteration, the art museum, took shape shortly after the plant's closure in 1985. Mass MoCA is staffed with a professional crew that seeks to assist clients as best possible. To do this, they work hard to provide stylish and seamless solutions. Modern amenities are included in rentals, and packages can be tailored to suit your event's needs.

Beautiful venue, and Chris, the event coordinator, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Beyond coordinating, Chris helped arrange lights in a manner that made our colors and dinner setting really pop. Chris is a real professional and it shows through his ability to effectively collaborate with our multiple vendors, many of whom he worked with many times in the past (Mezze for catering, Wendy Hybl Fannin for florals, both of whom are fantastic). We’re extremely grateful to have worked with him. And, of course, the museum seething was a dream.

We began planning our MASS MoCA wedding ceremony in 2019, before the pandemic hit. When we decided to postpone our wedding — which was originally scheduled for 2020 — due to COVID, Chris helped us navigate the rescheduling process with patience, empathy, and thoughtfulness. As we debated different dates and potential locations within the museum, Chris took time and care to meet with us and our vendors and offered us various options based on our specific wants and considerations. We were eventually able to hold a beautiful (and safe!) ceremony at MASS MoCA in no small part thanks to Chris's expertise, coordination, and coordination. Our guests described our ceremony in the Spencer Finch gallery as \"magical\" and \"unique,\" and we agree with that assessment! We cannot recommend Chris and MASS MoCA more highly.

MASS MoCA is an absolute dream of a wedding venue, with hundreds of square feet broken down into galleries and reception spaces that can accommodate weddings of various sizes. (Ours was 130.) We had our ceremony in the magical Spencer Finch gallery, and the cocktail hour and reception in the recently opened Building 6. The spaces all retain a raw, unfinished, industrial feel (not to mention incredible art installed throughout) that was perfect for us. Our contact at the museum, Rebecca, was wonderful to work with: friendly, responsive, and super knowledgeable. We can't imagine a more special place to get married.

Meet the MASS MoCA Team
Chris Handschuh graduated from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in North Adams, MA with a B.A. In Arts Mangagement in 2016.Handschuh completed two internships in the Box Office for festivals at MASS MoCA, as well as one internship in the Performing Arts Administration department, during his time at MCLA. He then went on to hold simultaneous positions in the Performing Arts Production, Visual Arts Fabrication and Special Events departments for two years after graduating. Handschuh's multi-departmental focus then shifted towards a full-time career in Special Events at MASS MoCA.
