We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding than Maymont. From the first time that we saw the Blue Atlas Cedar Tree, we knew that we had found the perfect space for our big day. Payton was so helpful in planning the logistics, and the entire Maymont crew was instrumental in making sure we had the magical day we were waiting for. The bridal suite provided great pictures for getting ready, which we will look back at fondly for years to come. The Robins Nature Center was an amazing reception venue! The kids at our wedding loved looking at all the animals and exhibits during cocktail hour, and the patio space was absolutely perfect for our dreamy evening reception. If you love the charm of Richmond and beautiful outdoor venues, we highly recommend Maymont! Reviewed on 16-01-2024
Katie Jones(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2022 We booked the Italian Garden for our ceremony and the Nature Center for our reception! Maymont Staff (specifically, Payton and Matt) were incredibly helpful and patient throughout the entire process. By the time the date actually came, it ended up pouring rain and was windy allll weekend long. I didn't get the Italian garden wedding of my dreams BUT somehow Maymont staff still made it work and we had an amazing day. We upgraded our cocktail hour to add on the exhibit, which honestly made the whole event for us. Though we didn't get our \"dream\" ceremony, I bet our rainy photos turned out amazing! Vanessa Bryant(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-07-2021 Well.....Where Do I start. Everything was fine in the beginning. I spoke with the sales agaent, book the Italian gardens, and paid eveyrhting that needed to be paid for. To my surprise, I found out on the day of my wedding that my \"package\" didn't inlcude chairs. Yes, you read that correctly, there were no chairs present at the wedding. Imagine how I must have felt when my fiance called me telling me this. I understand that I had a small wedding but i had some guests who really did need the chairs. We tried to get them to get chairs but the top \"boss\" said absolutely not. After the ceremony I emailed my representative expressing my disappointment over the chair situation. My email was forwarded to Ellen, who is the Sr. Manager of Special Events and Event Sales. She confirmed that I was not well informed that the package that I had booked was the \"micro wedding package\". Now, I know what you may be thinking, \" How does she not know what package she booked?\". Well thats because the mico wedding package was never presented to me. The information that I received (the info flyer) did not include a information on the micro package, nor did my sales representative ever state that I purchased that package, AND the contract did not indicate this as well. Also, they had asked muitple times for a final head count, so naturally I thought it was for the chairs. Since per their info flyer, they will provide up to 32 chairs for the Italian garden, but you may have up to 200 guests in that garden.By the way, for all future brides who may be reading this anytime in the future, per the email that Ellen sent me, the micro packages DOES NOT INCLUDE the following: eremony rehearsal, chairs, dressing room, transportation or event staff. If you get the micro packaged the dressing room and transportation will cost you an extra $100 each.I will say that they are pretty responsive, but obviously through my experience they aren't very straightforward. My advice, call them out on everything and asked for clarification over every little detail. Because the only thing that they are straightforward about is how to submit your payment. In thier defense Ellen did claim that they will be updating their flyer info and contracts regarding micro weddings, so this \"confusion\" won't happen for future brides. Other than that the venue is beautiful and I got some nice pictures out of it. Reviewed on 15-08-2021
Meredith Spencer(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-09-2020 Maymont is simply a magical place to get married, and we had the most beautiful ceremony we could have imagined in the Italian Garden. My husband and I had our second date at Maymont so knew this was THE place where we wanted to say \"I do.\" We definitely recommend it as a beautiful location in an iconic Richmond spot where you can visit every anniversary for the rest of your life! All of that said, we did find them to be one of less flexible vendors we worked with, so if you're looking for a highly customizeable experience, they might not be right for you. There were a number of little things that came up that were just more complicated than it seemed like it needed to be, and they don't include much in the cost aside from the space. We chose to hold our reception elsewhere so can't speak to that side of things. Reviewed on 12-09-2020
Teresa G(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-11-2019 I got married in the Italian Garden at Maymont and it was amazing! It was a great price and they made things easy for me. I also rented out the stone barn so the groomsmen and bridesmaids could get ready on opposite sides. I was able to add a carriage ride for me and my father and for me and my husband after the ceremony. The only issue was not being able to put a tent up in case there was rain or snow, and there was confusion on who got to ride in the golf carts down to the garden. Reviewed on 28-01-2020
Aida G(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-03-2018 Amazing venue, we used the Italian garden for our ceremony and the tent at the nature center for the reception. In addition to the beauty of the venue itself, the Maymont team was amazing to work with ...big thank you to Tawheed who was very helpful, informative and very professional.the Price of the venue is reasonable compare to many other venues we visited around. Jessica Boutwell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2016 Maymont was the perfect venue for our ceremony and reception! Catherine, Tawheed, and the Maymont staff were easy to work with throughout the process and very helpful/flexible with our ideas. They worked with our other vendors to make sure the wedding day went off without a hitch. We picked a number of other vendors who had previously worked at Maymont, which made the process a little easier because they all knew what they were doing and where they were going. Everyone loved the ceremony site outside the Nature Center - the weather was beautiful and the setup was perfect. The cocktail hour in the Nature Center exhibit area was a big hit with our guests, and the reception on the Nature Center back patio was a perfect-sized space for our 100-ish guests. The venue had a personal connection for us, which made the wedding extra special. Thank you, Maymont! Reviewed on 01-12-2016

Becca Pomfrey(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-09-2014 I grew up in Richmond so I have been to Maymont a million times. We got married in the Italian Gardens and it was perfect! The scenery is so amazing for a wedding! The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only issue we ran into was transportation for myself and my husband from the ceremony site to the reception. The tram left us and there was no one around to ask so we waiting around for 30 minutes until the public safety guy came and gave us a ride! It was a miscommunication that is funny now, but wasn't funny at the time. Other than that, I would highly recommend Maymont! Reviewed on 02-10-2014

Josi De(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-09-2012 I had a September wedding outdoors at Maymont Park and it was perfect. The weather was amazing (72, sunny, cool breeze), the Italian garden was beautiful, and the reception was right up the hill in the Garden Hall - close and convenient. They provide a bridal dressing room in the Garden Hall, as well as a carriage ride for the bride and father to the Italian garden and another for the bride and groom away from the ceremony. There's also a two-hour bridal portrait session built into the price. They provide all the tables and chairs for the ceremony (32 chairs, too few, in my opinion) and reception (I'm not sure how many, but the numbers are on their website), but don't provide linens. The wedding packages prices range from $1000 - $2800 I believe. We opted for a Sunday afternoon ceremony and reception and it cost $2500, which was a bit expensive - the only downside to a perfect wedding venue. Reviewed on 09-10-2012

The overall atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for - it was elegant peaceful and beautiful.;Be aware that it is a park so you may see other park guests who are not invited to the wedding. The staff does a nice job of generally keeping non-wedding park guests away from the ceremony and reception. Reviewed on 10-05-2010
