Merriman's Kapalua Maui in Lahaina, HI, is the perfect oceanfront venue for the wedding of your dreams. Located between Kapalua Bay and Napili Bay, Merriman's offers the picturesque views of a beach wedding, but the amenities of a fine dining restaurant. We have a number of different ceremony and reception options to best fit your specific wedding's needs.
We absolutely loved our experience with Merriman's and their coordinator Sophia for our August 2023 wedding. We started planning on a relatively short timeline, but Sophia was able to get our first choice vendors who were fabulous- Joe Miles as officiant, Martin Tevaga as our musician, and Dmitri & Sandra for photography. The view was absolutely beautiful, the venue was perfect for our intimate 25 person group, and the food was just amazing. Everything went so smoothly and I know it was because of how hard the staff worked behind the scenes. I was also so gratified that when the Lahaina fires happened less than a week later, Merriman's was doing so much to help the community, I was so happy that our money went to such a wonderful organization. Well, what can I say except for WOW! Merriman's nailed it in every single category and under promised and over delivered. This is coming from a skeptic who is hard to please when it comes to service and dinning. I would highly recommend Sophia and her team to anyone looking for a premium wedding experience.First off, we booked this prior to the Lahaina Fires. It was really touch and go there for a bit to see if our event would be canceled or not, but it ended up being OK. Sophia did a great job keeping us up to date with as much info as she could provide. One of my pet peeves of all but one wedding I've been to: the food sucks. We were determined for our wedding not to let that happen. That was the driving force behind us choosing Merriman's. Let me just say, they nailed the food. It was a really good meal for a night out. For wedding food, they nailed it! Steaks all came out as they should, scallops the same. Portions were generous and the appetizers were amazing. 6 Stars for wedding food if I could. As a side note, we did the plated dinner option. We also elected to do an open bar. The drinks were great! We asked to have Mai Tai's available for our guests as they entered the venue for the ceremony which we received feedback was a great touch!Lastly, the venue is amazing. It's almost like it was set up to be a wedding venue, where you could have a ceremony, then a social hour and then roll into the restaurant to eat!The part that was undersold the most was Sophia herself. She did an amazing job keeping us on time and aware of the schedule that we had agreed upon prior to the wedding. She never mentioned how she would be doing all that and really be your quarterback the day of for all things Merriman's with the schedule. That was a HUGE value to us as it allowed us to focus on our guests and one another rather than the time or schedule.Bottom line, if you want premium experience and are willing to pay for it, this place earns their service fees and delivered in every aspect we could ask for. We were married on the grass and used the grass for cocktail hour and cabana for the dinner reception. If you are after a small intimate wedding, solidly recommend this space. The food is to die for and the whole experience felt so special. Val was our coordinator all the way up until the day. She was absolutely amazing. I am actually sad we never were able to meet on the day (illness) because by email she went seriously above and beyond. The other coordinators Sophia and Taylor were also very nice. Holly Valiquette(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-04-2022 An absolutely beautiful location. Food was beautiful and delicious. The Mai Tai's ( our signature cocktail) were out of this world. Guests raved about everything. Spend the extra money when you can, it will make things better. If you can't afford the deck then do the ceremony on the lawn (on the point if your group is tiny). The only downside was they subbed the plated dessert I picked and didn't tell me so instead of the chocolate purse (which they are well known for) my guests got a flourless chocolate cake which was tasty but boring. I worked very closely with Val on the planning and logistics ahead of the event, and I was very impressed at how quickly she responded to all of my requests. Over the course of several months we exchanged dozens of emails and responses were always timely and detailed, which I really appreciated. Merriman's is not the cheapest place to host a lunch or reception, but it more than made up for the price with the wonderful views, great food, and flexibility of the planning team. Val was able to come up with an agenda for us, and took care of all the major planning items which took a lot of stress away from us! The vendors recommended for flowers and music were also fantastic. The food was delightful and service was impeccable during the lunch itself. Alyssa Duranty(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-09-2019 I loved our wedding at Merriman's, but I will recommend that future couples hire an outside wedding coordinator to help with the arrangements. I found myself initiating most of the conversations with Merriman's and they were not very proactive with the planning process. The venue is affordable, so spend a little extra for a coordinator. Biggest complaints were I asked for table runners that never showed up and our pineapple centerpieces didn't make it on the table when our photographer took photos. Also the day-of coordinator disappeared after the ceremony, so we were in the hands of the servers after that. Besides that it was a great day! It really was an unbelievably beautiful wedding. Of course the setting is stunning, but we were not expecting it to feel so cozy and private. Having never been to Merriman’s before we didn’t know what to expect, and were happily surprised by the quality, professionalism and attention to detail by everyone at Merrimans. The service was outstanding, food and drinks were exceptional and our table couldn’t have been more beautiful with all the flowers and candles. One of the highlights was when our entrees were served, an army of waiters came out delivering everyone’s meals at once to make sure we could all eat at the same time.At first I was a little put off by the fact that we could only use people from your vendor list, thinking that this was a racket, but after seeing the quality of those vendors it’s obvious that you’ve chosen them carefully. Reverend Joe was absolutely wonderful and made a great impression on us and our guests and set the tone for a beautiful evening. It was the nicest ceremony I’ve ever witnessed. The flowers and table were exquisite, the waiters were great and the photographer, from the little I’ve viewed so far, seems to be superior (photos I’ve seen look like they’re out of a magazine). Allana Pritchard Ogborn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-08-2018 Best decision I made, and an easy one - totally lived up to what I had in my mind and more. Planning: I planned our entire wedding from Seattle over the course of a year, for 28 people, checking in from time to time when things were needed. I never saw the venue until the day before the wedding, but saw so many pictures on Pinterest, and it was even better in person. I worked with Adrienne & Val, they were so amazing, from my initial call and questions, up until the day. Questions I had via email were always responded to promptly (and courteously!), and they really do so much coordination, that for our small group I didn't use a planner. The list of vendors was great for us, made decisions easy, and I love that they do all the contacting for you, but when you need to work with each individual vendor that's easy too. Closer to the wedding, our harpist had an emergency, and without skipping a beat, Adrienne had a stand-in taken care of, it was so nice to not even worry about it.Price:I picked this venue for pricing, for our small group it was really great compared to many places I looked, AND for the reviews on the food, which it lived up to. And even more. It was easy to budget up front and plan based off the docs they sent, and I'd say in the end it was about what I planned if not a bit less for food & drink than I thought. For our group of 28 I can't recommend enough for price & quality. (Can't speak to large groups as I think it's more of a buyout approach.)Ceremony:OH MY GOD the grassy knoll is perfect for a small group. We went with Ernest as our officiant, and a traditional Hawaiian ceremony with lei exchange, flowers from Bella Bloom, it was perfect. Because it's over the beach there was a nice breeze with the sunshine. Food:We went with a 3 entree option menu, and just like all the other reviews, everyone was raving about the food for days. We even went later in the week to the Monkey Pod restaurant to try another Merriman's spot, it was that good. For cocktail hour we got a veggie platter and Ahi Tuna bites and was a good amount to start before dinner. I was really impressed with the amount of food for dinner, and the service was AMAZING. Our 2 main servers checked in with me and my husband the perfect amount, making sure we were happy, and somehow every dish came out at the same time for everyone. At the end of the night, they were so so courteous about the curfew and making sure we had everything we needed, and packed us up bags to take our pineapple decor with us - made for great breakfast the rest of the week! And leftover cake ; )I can't recommend this venue enough for the whole sha-bang. More than I could have dreamed! Reviewed on 09-10-2018

I never wanted to do a destination and having never seen Hawaii let alone the venue I was nervous it was not going to be what I wanted/envisioned for my wedding. It was everything and more. The coordinators were so helpful along the way and were in constant communication with me and connected us with the vendors so we got to piece together our dream wedding. Doing this on a tight budget and site-unseen seemed like a big challenge but they made it easy as pie and I got to just enjoy being a bride as opposed to stressing over the details of the wedding. Day of was magical and the venue is absolutely breathtaking, even with a little bit of rain it was a dream come true. The food was excellent the service was the best I had ever experienced and the drinks were strong and delicious! Much needed after the craziness of a wedding! The cake from Merriman's was so good and the day was perfect. We haven't stopped getting compliments on everything! Brittney Marteney(not set)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-05-2018 I got married here and even though I absolutely loved the location and food, I would be very aware of the services they offer for food and drink and I would stay away from their in house coordinator and get your own. I was not happy when I saw the servers walking around with loads of cocktails waiting for them to be grabbed. I was contracted for drinks per consumption and made to order. They pretty much made whatever they wanted, and walked around with watered down drinks till someone grabbed them all then slapped them on the bill. I was also upset I had contracted to have my cocktail hour on the deck, in which they needed up having food both inside at the reception and on the deck which led to our guests being really spread out and hard to take pictures and socialize. The servers were awesome , and the food was awesome! The venue is beautiful however, I recommend getting your own coordinator and being clear with the restaurant what you want. Their in house coordinator was very little help and felt she didn’t care enough to put effort into our questions or when we needed assistance. I would also be aware of how they add to the tab and be clear with your choices. Overall beautiful experience but if I could make it better I hope this helps future brides. Reviewed on 27-06-2018

Kristin Pohl(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-06-2017 We were married at Merriman’s in June 2017. The planning process leading up to the wedding was great – it was exclusively email communication and Valerye and Adrienne replied promptly. For our luncheon buyout wedding, the food and drinks were delicious. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. We never saw the venue in person prior to our wedding rehearsal which was the day before our wedding. During the email communications I worked out a timeline with Adrienne for the wedding day. A luncheon buyout wedding is only four total hours (10a-2p) which is not a lot of time. The timeline was immediately interrupted and delayed by 15 minutes due to rain that started immediately before the ceremony was to begin (obviously nothing any of us could control). We made the call to move ceremony inside (was to take place on the deck) and they had everything set up within minutes – it was amazing to see how quickly they did it.Adrienne was there the day of our wedding. Here are my issues, which after 7 months still upset me.1. Our parent dances (bride/dad, groom/mom) just didn’t happen despite being discussed in email as part of the timeline. No word about them, no prompting, nothing – they were completely overlooked. There was certainly time to do them despite the timeline hiccups. Was I responsible for prompting Adrienne to stay on schedule? Honestly, no, I won’t fall on the sword for this one – we were being swept away for photos, speaking with our guests, and were lost in the moment. Before we knew it, it was 2p and we were getting the signal to vacate the venue.2. Just before the cake cutting ceremony, Adrienne informed us that our wedding cake never arrived (Maui Wedding Cakes). Our gluten free cupcakes did though (though they dropped the ball on that as they were not placed on the table as we had discussed so GF guests could eat them – they were behind the planters in their packaging so no one knew they existed). In lieu of that cake, Merriman's made us a new one. Miraculous – it was a lovely three-tiered wedding cake they managed to whip up within hours. As the new cake headed back to the kitchen to be cut for our guests, evidently our actual wedding cake arrived in the kitchen. We were never informed it arrived and therefore we never saw it, but we did eat it. It was on Merriman's to confirm with the vendor that the cake arrived and on time, and that did not happen (though I do appreciate that they made one).3. Our photographer did a lot of the prompting/communicating with us. She informed us it was time for the first dance, that the cake cutting was to begin shortly, etc. I’m not sure why it was my photographer’s responsibility to keep us on schedule. That timeline should have been glued to Adrienne’s hands, and she should have literally been checking off the days events as the day went on.At the end of the day, we got married by the absolutely wonderful Rev. Tino Rosete. That’s what we went to Maui to do, and we did it. I was and I still feel let down about our wedding day. It honestly breaks my heart that I couldn't dance with my dad (he was so looking forward to it and kept asking me to dance but I said no because I was expecting to have our father/daughter dance ::sobb::) and no other dance will ever replace that one. I know that things go wrong, but all issues except the rain could have easily been prevented. Reviewed on 18-01-2018
Lindsley Parong(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-12-2017 This wedding venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! There are so many scenic area's but the main attraction is the deck that views the ocean and mountains. If you're looking for a scenic background, highly recommend Merriman's as your venue. We got married here on 12/15/17 and we chose this venue because of the scenic view. You really don't need a lot of decorations, because the backdrop sets the tone, mood, and well ambiance for it all. Absolutely gorgeous. The food here is AMAZING. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with their food here. Our day turned out to be beautiful, and our guests fully enjoyed their time here and definitely left full. The only downside and why I gave this a 4 out of 5 was the communication between the event planner/coordinator. Don't get me wrong, they were responsive to my emails, call, and answered questions or requests that I had. I just felt a majority of the time that I was alone on the process and had to follow up with them as to what steps/planning I would need to have down versus them telling and updating me what should be done next. It was a bit frustrating and left me feeling uneasy, especially since we don't live in Maui and planning a destination wedding was a stressor within itself. I followed up constantly with the vendors, which thankfully they were a dream to work with, but it would have been nice to have the coordinator follow up with them as well just to relieve some of the stress away from me. Overall, everything came out beautifully and went smoothly the day of the wedding. Still highly recommend this location as a venue, and we definitely will be back to visit for our anniversary :) Reviewed on 08-01-2018

The setting and ambiance is exactly what we were looking for for our small wedding. However, where Merriman's missed the mark is on their actual wedding planning services. If you're planning from out of state like I was- from the mainland, it was an extremely frustrating process. There were times incorrect information was passed, slower than anticipated responses, and honestly their services don't do anything but provide you a list of vendors to use. You will have to follow up with all vendors, with merriman's on all items. They did not make the wedding planning process easy and created a lot of extra stress when in theory it was supposed to be simple and stress free. I shared my experience w/the management team and they were receptive to the feedback, but nonetheless I was extremely unhappy with the overall process. I would say if you're having a wedding at Merriman's, just be prepared to be doing everything even though you have to pay merriman's a service charge. They don't do a whole lot. Not to mention the incredible backdrop! There were even whales and a rainbow. I had really positive feedback from our guests and everyone had a great time. I was overall very pleased, however I am rating 4/5 because there were a few (minor) details missed in communication that caught me off guard. For example, the officiant included a prayer to God even though we clearly asked for a non-religious ceremony. I was also very clear about flowers and that I wanted extra long ribbons to each bouquet and that my daughters flower crown should have a ribbon which was also missed. In addition, the musician was supposed to play a ukulele but he played a guitar instead. Like I said, minor details that no one noticed except my husband and I. With that said, I would highly recommend Merriman's to anyone planning a wedding in Maui. We will never forget what a magical and special day it was! Reviewed on 30-11-2016

Location, food, service I just can’t say enough how amazing everything was…we have received so many compliments.About a week before the wedding Adrienne/Val had some input on the bar selection and suggested adding imperial bottles of champagne…that was such a fun touch and probably one of my favorite things throughout the night. I think it absolutely set the tone for the night and everyone had a blast!Val/Adrienne dealt with all my changes/request and emails without any complaints and they were always helpful when I had questions/concerns. Our wedding went very smoothly. Everyone raved about the food and that view....spectacular! I am still beaming from our special day. We rented the private dining room and the Deck for our ceromony and cocktail hour. The deck was such a great space if you have lots of kids attending, lots of room to run around. When I noticed a post on IG of a beautiful reception out on the lanai (where we always request to be seated), I knew that's where we needed to book our reception! I emailed Merriman's that very morning and got a reply within hours! From then on, all of the communication with, Megan, the coordinator, was exceedingly prompt, cheerful and very helpful! She made planning from California a lot less stressful and even put me at ease as the date got closer and I started to send frantic emails ;) Megan took care of so many details, so I didn't have to worry and the night was PERFECT! Some of thing she took care of included: the table decor, beautifully wrapped house-made shortbread cookie favors, personalized place cards and menus, the great musician and she referred an awesome baker! She also made wonderful menu and beverage recommendations that really personalized our evening. We obviously love the food, but our guests were even more delighted by the variations and options we offered, starting with family-style appetizers of kalua pork quesadillas, poke, and lobster crab cakes to a fresh salad and then their entrees including the must-have Monchong and duo of filet mignon and mahi-mahi and finally a chicken option ... mouth watering yet? We love that they are \"farm to table\" and that we could share this type of Hawaiian regional cuisine with our guests. Don't forget the drinks! She helped us choose some great wines and our guests also enjoyed the specialty cocktails all night! The lanai was a perfect location for our intimate gathering - we had room to move and felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The staff took great care of us and made sure everyone enjoyed the night. Note: I had already started my search for ceremony and reception venues and wasn't thrilled with the options and rules I was finding at other locations ... this is the one time I thank social media! We had an extremely small wedding (just us and 4 guests) at Merriman's this summer and it was not a completely satisfying experience. We have loved dining at Merriman's Kapalua for years and the location is absolutely stunng, so we have known for a long time that we would likely get married here. Perhaps it was because of the unusual size of our wedding, but the Events team treated us in a rather cold and business-like manner with little to no aloha or flexibility in their rules nor did they ever seem truly interested in going out of their way to make our day special. We received contradictory communications on certain details from different staff in different emails. We often did not know by whom a given email was written, so they seemed to not communicate well with one another or with customers. There was turnover in the staff between the time we booked and our wedding day so there was not consistency, either. We dined in the main dining room because they would not budge on the minimum charge for private dining, several thousand dollars which six people could not possibly meet. They asked us to book our own table once reservations opened up 2 months prior to our event. I can't imagine a wedding coordinator not helping their clients make a dinner reservation particularly when the restaurant and the coordinating team are part of the same company. We asked for a good table with a view next to the glass wall but were given a table 3 tables away from the wall with an obstructed view. I really cannot think of what the Events Team at Merriman's did to earn the 20% commission on all services from all vendors that they charge, particularly when we were asked to do most of the coordinating ourselves. We received really no complimentary services other than a single desert at the end that they give to any table celebrating a birthday or anniversary. Contrastingly, Montage Kapalua offered us a free bottle of champagne and other complimentary drinks on two separate occasions when they noticed and inquired about our special occasion with no prompting from us, displaying an extremely high level of customer service that I would expect from a fine dining establishment such as Merriman's. I perceived at Merriman's Kapalua a subtle attitude from the events team that customers are fortunate to be allowed to be customers there, rather than customers being appreciated and made to feel special on one of the most special days of their lives. Merriman's is a fantastic setting, the food is consistently excellent and I am happy we married there, but I am disappointed in the lack of service and aloha from the Events Team. I believe they need to learn about high level customer service such as demonstrated by the staff at the neighboring Montage Kapalua. The impersonal response we received from the manager of Merriman's Kapalua was also disappointing. Reviewed on 20-07-2015

Merriman's is a beautiful site and was perfect for my intimate Hawaiian Wedding. The whole process was great. At first I didn't like being told which vendors I had to use, but it was such a blessing. Every vendor we worked with was amazing (but beware, the coordination fees to add up to the budget, but are so worth it to not have to deal with everything. you just have one person to pay in the end, which is awesome!) I had heard some brides complain that the person you work with the whole time isn't the person who is coordinating your final day, but I got lucky and was able to have someone I had worked with for the last couple weeks before the wedding. In the end, I loved the food, the waiters assigned to the cabana were so helpful and attentive, the site is absolutely breathtaking (even when you have rain like we did), and I could not have asked for a more perfect day. Rachel Bernhardt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-08-2012 Merrimans made our wedding day absolutely perfect. I was slightly concerned with the idea of having my wedding at a location that I've never been to and just relying on pictures and reviews, but it turned out to be exactly what was promised. We had a very small wedding of 12 people on a Tuesday. I would've preferred the weekend but they were already booked 9 months beforehand. I think it turned out to be a blessing having it on a Tuesday though because it wasn't too crowded. It's a very busy restaurant, and I imagine on a weekend it wouldn't feel as private. As soon as we got to Kapalua, everyone we talked to said we picked the best restaurant in the area. The food was amazing, (lobster tails and filet mignon) among other appetizers/salads. For the food, the only thing we weren't impressed with was the cake, which was beautiful but dry and a bit hard. I think they froze it beforehand. Since we had a small wedding, we had the ceremony on the grassy overlook which was perfect, breath taking, and private. We then reserved the back deck for a cocktail reception for our guests while we went to the beach and rocks for pictures with the photographer. We also had a first dance on the back deck before moving to the private cabana for dinner. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact cost of the wedding, but all of their costs are listed on their website. You should know that there are several wedding coordinators and you can't expect to always speak to the same person, and you probably won't know who will be coordinating your wedding on the day. You just have to trust that they know what they are doing, which I know can be hard. We had cancelled a previous wedding in California when the event coordinator changed and the new one was horrible. All of my correspondence was via email to Merrimans, and you won't always get an immediate response. They are very busy and have weddings almost every day. Our friends also got married in Hawaii at another location and it was an absolute nightmare, and I had even considered that location, which made us even more grateful that everything went as planned at Merrimans. In the beginning, I wanted to have a DJ/dance party which is not possible here unless you buy out the restaurant. They only allow acoustic music. But the musician they recommended was amazing and in the end we were fine going without the dance party. They do require that you pick the vendors from their vendor list. However, every vendor we picked was amazing so you won't be disappointed. We had a fabulous florist, photographer, videographer, musician, and officiant. All in all, I highly recommend Merrimans for your wedding and we couldn't have asked for anything better, especially for the price. Reviewed on 10-08-2014

The most incredible views of the Ocean and sunset, it truly was breath taking.\rMy photographs should be in magazines. \rThe food was mouth watering delicious. Everyone raved about the appetizers as well as their dinner. It was nice that my guests could order what they wanted off the menu.We had the chef make our cake as it helped reach the min food and beverage total.I will say that the cake was limited a bakery would give more flavor options etc. It was ok and I did have to keep to my budget so it was a wise choice.\rThe coordinators were very helpful and responded to emails and phone calls very promptly. This was most appreciated as I (like a lot of brides) was planning from another state. Very friendly girls.\rI have already referred this venue to others.A+ rating from me, you wont be disappointed. I promise. Reviewed on 08-08-2014

We had a destination wedding and have never been to Maui before this so everything we did was purely through research and reviews. We had a total guest count of 29 (including bride and groom). Ceremony took place on the deck and dinner in the private dining room. The venue was 100x better than what we saw in pictures. It was breathetaking! The service was expectional! Everyone was very kind. The food was delicious!! We have been to a few high-end restaurants in Maui and Merriman's is hands down our favorite place to eat! Kristen Sturm(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-07-2013 Merriman's is an Excellent location for a wedding & or reception. It is so beautiful (even better than the pictures). We had a very small party, so we just hosted a dinner following our beach wedding and it was perfect! We had a cocktail hour on the patio which has such an incredible view and ambiance. My only complaint was the wait for a table, but even that was worth it. If you don't want to wait, you can always reserve the designated areas for private parties as opposed to a regular table. Our dinner was EXCELLENT. The food was INCREDIBLE. Delicious made with quality ingredients, and the service was equally as good. Even if you don't choose Merriman's for your wedding, I definitely recommend a visit during your trip to Maui. \r\rKristen & Christian (Marana, AZ) July 2013 Reviewed on 01-08-2013
Candace bighorse(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-06-2013 Merriman's is a very beautiful location. Kapalua Bay was breathtaking especially at sunset. We chose the grassy overlook because our party was small and the overlook looked nothing like the picture. The area was smaller than we thought, it did accommodate our 18 guests. Merriman's staff was somewhat helpful during the whole process. They provided an vendor lists for us to review and the only thing about the list is that we had to use only those vendors. But it was a helpful tool. The food was phenomenal, so delicious we would love to eat there again, maybe on our one year anniversary. Reviewed on 27-07-2013
Megan Smith(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-04-2013 My husband and I wanted to do a destination wedding to Maui, HI. We had looked at several venues, but once we looked at Merriman's, we knew that was where we wanted to have our wedding. \r\rI communicated with Danielle through email, and she was so great about answering all of my questions. It was so easy to work with Merriman's as they provided a list of vendors that we could work with. We didn't have to seek out any additional resources, and looking at their vendors' work online, you could tell that Merriman's only works with the best.\r\rThe location is absolutely breathtaking and the facilities were well maintained. We had our ceremony on the deck overlooking the ocean. We got to see a whale even though whale season was supposed to be over! We then had cocktail hour for our guests on the back deck. I was able to grab some food before having to take photos, and the appetizers were delicious and cooked perfectly. After cocktail hour, we moved into the private dining room. Our dinner menu was yummy, and the dessert buffet after was divine. Throughout the whole event, the service was impeccable. Our guests could not stop complimenting on the beautiful location and the great service and food. They were never in need of food or drink as the servers were always prepared. \r\rIt was such a special and beautiful day. Our experience with planning and the day of our wedding was seamless. Everything was so easy, and it truly was a memorable experience. \r\rThanks so much, Merriman's and to Danielle especially!\r\rI would also like to mention that I worked with Maui Sweet Cakes for our wedding cake and cupcake favors. The cake was moist and delicious. Maui sweet cakes also decorated it beautifully with fresh flowers. Not only that, but they decorated our cupcake favor boxes with our wedding colors. \r\rReverend Pia Aluli officiated our wedding as well. He was so sincere in delivering his words during our ceremony. We had several guests tell us that you could feel Pia was expressing from his heart. There was so much love conveyed through the ceremony.\r\rAll of these people truly made our day! \r Reviewed on 27-06-2013
Jane Dawson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-03-2013 Music to my ears were those words 'we do it all for you'... no wedding co-ordinator required. Ours was a small wedding, so we really did not need one. Merriman's were so good. It's hard when you're several thousand miles away and trying to organize this big day. Booking was straight forward, they provide you with a list of preferred vendors, do your research, pick the people you want and they really will do the rest for you. \r\rThis place is super busy, so do not be offended if sometimes it takes a little longer to come back to you. They keep on top of their time lines, and when they need something or information from you, they will let you know and keep everything on track.\r\rFor service on the day, they were phenomenal. Truly. We got favors through them, our wedding cake which was out of this world (they co-ordinated with Dellables for flower decorations and color scheme for the little ribbons on the party favors), they did out place cards, printed menus specially for us. \r\rThe team of servers was really fantastic, led by the lovely Valerie. They really catered to every query or request that we had, with perfect timing and execution, and did so very gracefully. They're on top of their game and delivered a first class service.\r\rThe food was just brilliant. Did I mention how good the wedding cake was? made in their own kitchens. Our wedding party had a mix of meat eaters, vegetarians, small kids, drinkers, non-drinkers (and it was only a small party of 15), but they catered to every preference and taste for us and did so magnificently. I was delighted to learn that one of our vegetarian guests who had always hated taro (unbeknown to me or my new husband) was blown away by the taro cakes! \r\rLocation for the ceremony - the grassy overlook was sensational, and the private gazebo for dinner was really perfect. They co-ordinated directly with our chosen vendors to make sure everything was in place on the day at the right time, etc. so that we did not have to do anything in that regard. Excellent, stress free wedding!\r\rThe vendors list gave us great options, all the options you would need. Our Minister, Denis de Rego, did a lovely job. Marvin Tevaga sang and played beautifully on the ukelele during our ceremony and cocktail hour. Dellables did a stellar job with our flowers and table decorations. We were very disappointed with our experience with Mike Sidney Photography unfortunately. \r\rI cannot say enough good things about Merrimans. And again, I really want to mention the excellent job on the day led by Valerie and team. Outstanding level of service. And all of the other bits that went in to place before to make this a flawless event. \r\rThank you, thank you. Reviewed on 03-06-2013
Stu Suttor(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-05-2013 We held our ceremony and cocktail reception on the gorgeous Merriman's deck, followed by dinner in the private dining room for 54 guests. The resounding feedback we've gotten from our friends and family is that it was the most incredible and beautiful wedding they've ever been to! \r\rFood & Service: Spectacular. It was not even close to your typical wedding food! My husband and I ate at Merriman's about a year prior to our wedding, and we can honestly say that the quality of the food and the wait-staff are unsurpassed, regardless of whether it is a romantic dinner for two, or a large wedding party. The cocktails were absolutely delicious (and strong, which our guests loved!) The simplicity of hosting a wedding at a restaurant also makes so much sense. No rentals required, everything is already there! \r\rCoordination: We opted not to hire an outside wedding planner, so we arranged for everything through Danielle. Danielle was professional, thorough, and delivered on everything that was promised. She may take a few days to respond to emails, but we appreciated that she didn't waste our time and her updates always meant she had made progress. She arranged to provide anything we wanted through her preferred vendors. We loved working with Danielle – it was ideal because we could be as involved as we wanted to be on certain things, and sit back and let her handle the rest! The best part was that her services were free! No 20% cut on all services booked, and no pressure to spend over your budget. The only things we had to arrange outside of Danielle were hotel, hair and make-up, and transportation.\r\rSetting: The photos don't do it justice. Pure elegance without distracting from Maui's beauty. The views are AMAZING! It is right on the ocean with views of the neighboring islands and Kapalua Bay, surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees...when you see it in person, you will gasp. Our private dining room was completely open air so we could hear the waves and see the sunset. We also had private access to the deck for the night, and after it got dark, they lit tiki torches and there is a fire at the end near the water which made the perfect setting for speeches. \r\rAfter-party: Something we did which we totally recommend is to have an after-party the next day rather than the night of the wedding. The pace on Maui is slow and peaceful and nearly every wedding venue you can find shuts down early (including Merriman's). My husband and I of course were exhausted after our wedding, but so were our guests from fun in the sun as well as the general time difference from the mainland. So rather than try and force an after-party on the wedding night, we charted a private catamaran and had a booze cruise the following day! It was so much fun, and way better than your typical post-wedding brunch! My husband and I were able to enjoy a romantic wedding night, but still let loose and partake in the after-party! \r Reviewed on 21-05-2013

The food was amazing - hands down, best wedding food ever (even if I didn't eat as much as I would have liked to, with the stress of the planning finally falling off my shoulders). The location is honestly amazing, with incredible views and they are very accommodating. I am a little nit-picky about details, and when you're planning your wedding from a different state, it's hard to avoid, but they answered my every question.\r\rThe food was AMAZING, and we are very picky about food and were still impressed. I wished there was a way for me to have eaten more though, but I was restrained in my tight dress! \r\rThe ONLY gripe I have is that we worked with their Coordinator Danielle up to a year before the wedding - who is super helpful and awesome. I found out the week before the wedding that there would be a different coordinator on duty that day, but was reassured she would have all my details and would be great. I really loved her the day-of but I could tell a difference between meeting her that day and what wouldn't have been overlooked if she had been involved from the get-go. She didn't help the bridal party walk out, and didn't say anything to us about them needing to switch the wine we had chosen when they ran out, to name a few. These were really minute things when it comes to the big picture and I would highly recommend Merriman's to anyone for their wedding! Danielle Kuck, the in-house event coordinator, was helpful and meticulous with all our needs from the very beginning. We visited the location once and fell in love with it (we saw turtles while we were there), and Danielle really made it happen for us. We planned everything over email - she hooked us up with her recommended vendors, and even let us stray from her list to get the band we wanted. We found a hidden gem here with the rental fee - normally booking the whole place for a reception dinner will run you 20k just for rental fee, but in the morning from 10-2pm, we got the whole place for ourselves with just $500. We started the reception a little bit late, and they actually let us stay til 3pm without saying a word!
