The catering team and technical support staff were able to handle every request we had. We had a wonderful wedding weekend for our daughter and new son-in-law at the Michigan League on a beautiful Spring weekend in May 2023. Lauren Yanakeff worked with us for a year planning and sharing her knowledge and experience. Our daughter grew up in Ann Arbor and attended the University of Michigan; she was so excited to welcome our guests to a home-town Ann Arbor wedding. The ceremony was at St. Maryâs, a short walk from the League. Lauren arranged for easy parking at the Fletcher lot. At the League, the weather allowed for a Cocktail Party in the Garden (Vandenberg room was backup). We had dinner and dancing in the stunning ballroom. The food was excellent â short ribs, sea bass, pesto ravioli (vegetarian), and portobello mushroom (vegan). We opted for the late-night âState fairâ hotdog/chips snack. Lauren coordinated bar and wine options with the Leagueâs catering team. It all went smoothly â costs were communicated clearly and there were no surprises. The wedding party and some guests spent the night on the 4th floor Inn, a very convenient and comfortable spot. Other guests stayed at the Graduate and Bell Tower. The hotels and venues were all withing walking distance, which was wonderful! The next morning, we had âBrunch with the Newlywedsâ in the Michigan room. The breakfast food, coffee, bagels, and danishes were excellent and appreciated by our out-of-town guests.Thank you, Lauren and The League staff for a beautiful wedding!

First, I want to say that Claire, our event coordinator was awesome. If Claire & Ann Marie didn't work the actual event, things would have been a disaster. Serious lack of staff, ballroom did not open on time, leaving the guests waiting in the hall. Food was late coming out. The cake table left on the dance floor. The bride had to move it to the side so the first dance could occur. This was about an hour after the cake had been cut, so there was ample time for that to be taken care of. We had paid for that cake to be cut and served. By the time that cake was taken back to be cut, a lot of guests had already left. Staff attention to clearing the tables was lacking. The bride & myself had to clear our own tables. Our wedding planner & assistant also helped with clearing tables, collecting our gold chargers, and napkins. This was not their job to do. At one point when I went to look for staff to help, as none were visible, I observed TWO catering staff taking a cart of water to a conference that was going on in the same building. It was told to us that this conference was only booked weeks before our event. If The League was that seriously understaffed, why book a second event at the same time? We were not provided a getting ready room for the bride that was sufficient. Thankfully we had paid for enough rooms in the venue, that we were able to dual purpose the cocktail hour space. The room that we had hoped to have, was given to the conference. What was offered was a very small room, that was not big enough to accommodate the bride & accompanying party. The grooms getting ready room was supposed to be locked at all times, with only two keys to open it. One of which the event coordinator had, and the other one we paid extra for our wedding planner to have. We were told that this room would be secure, and the wedding party could leave their personal belongings in there. After the ceremony, our officiant observed the room left open and catering staff cleaning up in there. The 2 people who were to have keys were no where in sight. After the bridal party pictures, we made our way back to the room to collect cell phones and anything else that might be needed during the reception, and the best manâs wallet was missing. A report of this was made to staff. Approximately 2 hours later, a staff member claimed to âfindâ the wallet in another room on the floor. Everything was still in the wallet, but later that evening it was discovered that the best manâs debit card had been frozen by the bank for a fraud alert. There had been 8 charges attempted on the card for approximately $1000. A little later in the reception I found that the side doors of that same âsecureâ room were again wide open, with no one in sight. Part of the conference was being held in a room directly across the hall, and attendees were milling about from that conference. This was very disconcerting, being that the wallet had already been reported as missing, and all the other bridal party, photographers, and videographers had their belongings in there. I do want to give Kudos where they are due. The planning was smooth, communication was good up until the problems started 3 weeks before. Things didnât start to fall apart until after Claire went on vacation. Once she was back, most everything was able to be addressed in a satisfactory way. The venue beautiful, reception set up perfect, food impeccable. In the end, the day was beautiful. I hope in time our negative memories fade.

Not to mention that throughout the planning process, Lindsay has been nothing but sweet, supportive, and accommodating. They respond so fast and they truly go above and beyond!

My husband and I got married early in the pandemic but wanted to celebrate with our friends and families so planned to host a wedding at the League. We could not have been luckier to work with the staff there--they have an easy to use website that clearly lays out pricing, options, etc. They have catering included as part of the package as well as bar service. The spaces in the building are truly stunning and make for excellent party spaces. We ultimately had to cancel our party due to lingering COVID concerns. However, the team at the League was amazing, they helped us think through all possible options and when we ultimately cancelled, they were supportive and helped us figure out how to proceed. I cannot stress how amazing the team is. I will be recommending them to everyone.

We celebrated our ceremony and reception in the Vandenberg room/Concourse area this past weekend at the League. Everyone loved it! The environment was so beautiful and the staff was wonderful. The food was amazing! We worked with Claire Leigh Monstevens, who helped us make decisions along the way and offered her advice. It really came together so well because of her help! We are so happy to have decided on the League - everyone made wonderful memories there! A heartfelt thank you to everyone at the League and the event staff!

Lindsay Sorgenfrei has worked with us for a year; planning and arranging tastings, site visits and sharing her knowledge and experience with us. It has been a pleasure and we are grateful to all the League staff who have been helpful and fun to work with since day one. Our guests delighted in a 'local' Ann Arbor wedding, many of them staying nearby at the Bell Tower hotel, a short walk away, and the 4th floor 'Inn at the Michigan League' (so convenient and nice!). There was easy parking at the Fletcher lot, arranged by Lindsay, and walking/shuttling to St. Mary's for the Wedding Mass. At the League, we used the Garden for our Cocktail Party, the Ballroom for Dinner & Dancing and the Vandenberg Room for Desserts and Cordials. A downtown Ann Arbor weekend and a lot of space at the League for guests to enjoy ~ all added up to a wonderful wedding celebration. Thank you Lindsay, you are the best!

The Michigan League was such a great choice for our wedding ceremony and reception! We worked with Lauren Yanakeff and she was so great about answering all of our questions and changes throughout the Pandemic. We ended up doing our ceremony in the Vandenberg and our cocktail hour and reception in the Courtyard. Everything was SO beautiful! The reception was absolutely perfect and everyone loved being outside in such a pretty area! I would definitely recommend the Michigan League to anyone!

The League was the perfect venue for our wedding. We loved being able to have ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location and the hotel attached was icing on the cake. Lauren our event planner was the best. She was so responsive, answered all my questions, kept us up to date and informed of any changes and worked seamlessly with our day of coordinator. The league staff was amazing! The room flip from ceremony to reception was done quickly and the room was completely transformed. All our guests have raved about the food, from the appetizers to dinner to late night snack. This was the perfect place for our wedding.

My husband and I had a great experience working with the staff at the Michigan League to plan our wedding! We worked with Lindsay to plan our event. We had originally planned to have our reception in the Grand Ballroom in May 2020. When we had to delay our wedding to 2021, Lindsay was very communicative and helped us to find a new date. She responded to all of our emails and phone calls promptly, and even reached out to check in with us from time to time. Unfortunately we then had to cancel our event at the Michigan League due to restrictions in the state of Michigan in early 2021. That said, Lindsay constantly communicated with us to make sure we understood the restrictions in place at the time and to help us make a final decision about our wedding. Overall, highly recommend the Michigan League for their professionalism and communication! They truly showed us they cared about us as a couple throughout the entire process.

We had a wonderful experience working with the Michigan League/Union. Lauren Yanakeff was our coordinator and I cannot say enough great things about her. We were planning our wedding during the pandemic and she was so flexible and understanding. She allowed us to move our reservation to different rooms multiple times as the restrictions evolved. She was very responsive and did everything within her power to ensure we were able to have our event in a way that was safe, but still felt like a wedding. We finally settled on the Garden at the Michigan League. Our guests were so impressed with this space and it was so beautiful! Lauren was present for our rehearsal and wedding and provided the perfect amount of guidance. We cannot thank her and the Michigan League/Union enough for being such a huge part of our wedding day!!

We were one of the many couples affected by the pandemic who had to postpone own wedding. Our coordinator, Jane Lloyd, was right there by our side the whole way. She communicated all updates to us promptly and was always available for a last-minute meeting. She was invaluable to us. I am very impressed with and thankful for The Leagueâs flexibility and understanding. Everyone we dealt with was wonderful. 100% positive experience. I highly recommend The Michigan League to others who are in pursuit of their dream wedding.

The League has been very easy to work with during the pandemic and Jane (our event coordinator) stayed in touch during it all. We postponed our wedding until next summer and feel like we are in excellent hands. There are so many reasons why I'd suggest the League for your wedding: the atmosphere, the easy communication, the willingness to accommodate for your wants/needs... The list goes on!! We can't wait to have our wedding in the ballroom and garden next year.

We had both our wedding ceremony and reception at the Michigan League in the Vandenberg Room and in the Hussey Room. Kayla at the League helped with planning and coordinating both my sisterâs and my wedding receptions at the League ballroom. Kayla is phenomenal and gave us so much peace of mind at every stage of the process. She was incredibly responsive and helpful as well as patient throughout the planning and decision making process. Our wedding exceeded all of our expectations thanks to Kayla and everyone at the League. Please do yourself a favor and work with Kayla and have your wedding at the Michigan League!!

The League was the perfect venue for my husband and I. We both have connections to the university and we wanted to show our family and friends how special Ann Arbor is to us. From start to finish the team at The League was incredible to work with. They kept in close contact with our planner, answered all of our questions, offered ideas based on what we were looking for, and helped us feel comfortable along the way. We walked through multiple scenarios (since we had a rain plan) which turned out to be a lifesaver. If our guests did not know we intended to get married outside, they never would have known we were using our back up because things were just so smooth the whole way. The food was amazing and many guests said it was the best they ever had. Lindsay was the absolute best and everyone on site worked hard to make our day perfect.

The ballroom was incredible; stained glass windows, hard wood floors, and a curved ceiling. All of which made for fantastic wedding photos. The coordinator we worked with, Claire, was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the entire planning process. The League building also has an Inn on the fourth floor, which was very convenient for us and our guests. Overall we were very happy with the entire reception!

We just had our wedding at The League a few days ago and it was an absolute dream come true! The location is a unique, historic building on the UM campus in Ann Arbor and offers many rooms to accommodate your event. We rented all of the large rooms to use for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. It was an easy, seamless transition for guests, who enjoyed exploring the building and the surrounding fountain and buildings. Many of our guests were out of state, first time visitors to Ann Arbor and loved that the venue was in the heart of campus. The bridal party and family basically took over the Inn on the 4th floor, which has about 20 guest rooms. The convenience of being two floors up from our venue was amazing and the bridal suite is HUGE! The League offers many different packages for food and alcohol that we found to be very reasonable considering the thoughtful, delicious dishes they offer. Compared to other venues in the area, we felt like we got SO much more for our money. The League was happy to work with us to create the perfect offerings for happy hour and a dessert bar to suit our event. Our guests raved about the food from start to finish! Most significantly, I have to give great praise to the catering staff and specifically our coordinator, Kayla. She worked hard to understand what we wanted and then figured out ways to make it happen. We had special requests that didnât faze her and was able to accomplish all of them. She was always responsive to our questions and concerns with a smile on her face. She seamlessly worked with our wedding planner to figure out the logistics of setting up some complicated decor installations and everything turned out perfect. We are so grateful to have chosen the league as our venue. You should too!!

The building itself is beautiful, and of course is situated near the heart of Michigan's campus giving many options of nearby settings for outdoor pictures. The University's catering is fantastic, and the entire staff was extremely helpful throughout the entire booking and planning process. If you have any attachment to the University, this is a perfect venue available at a reasonable price, and even if you don't, the setting and service stand on their own - you can't go wrong. There are even a handful of very nice hotel rooms in the building and parking available just across the street.

To start, our wedding coordinator, Chelsea H., was amazing to work with. She answered the million questions we had and worked around our busy schedules. She recommended great services like our florist, ceremony musicians, specialty linens etc. She worked hard behind the scenes to make sure everything was perfect! All of the staff involved did a tremendous job from the building staff coming and fixing some tech issues (I'm not good with technology) and the Catering staff was phenomenal. Lindsay and her catering crew made our evening picture perfect (the wedding photos show it, trust me!) From start to finish we were in the best of hands and we owe so much to the staff for making our day the best day ever! The Catering staff were professional, kind, and courteous. The building and space itself lends so much original beauty, then with the added special touches from Chelsea and Lindsay (her creative buffets are beautiful!)- I can't praise enough or thank them enough for the most beautiful day I have ever experienced! I highly recommend the Michigan League and their team for weddings and special events!

The League did a fabulous job with my wedding, which is a huge compliment coming from someone as particular as I am. I had so many guests remark about how amazing the food was, specifically that the filet was tender like butter. I tasted it and I agree. The chef also made a special requested dish (not on the menu) as the vegetarian option, which I chose and it was excellent. Because my husband and I love wine and were not happy with the menu options (or the appetizer options off the menu), the League held a special private tasting for us and we could choose wines (not on the normal menu) and taste other appetizers. The execution of the event was perfect. Claire was very helpful through the process and offered advice on choosing other vendors. The only reason Iâm not giving the League 5 stars is because this level of perfection did take some coaxing. For example, we had to request that tree limbs be trimmed that were hanging chest height right in the middle of the aisle for an outdoor ceremony. Small details but important ones that the venue should have anticipated. However, the League was quick to remedy any issues (such as providing us a private wine and food tasting). Really though, everything else was perfect. And letâs not even get started on how beautiful the League is. I couldnât imagine a more beautiful wedding venue. I would strongly recommend the League.

We chose the ballroom at the league because it had the largest dance floor and we were not disappointed. The food exceeded our expectations everyone loved it. They chef also made us a dairy free appetizer special so the bride could eat something (lactose intolerance). The staff who ran our event were fantastic and were ready to help with all the small things like getting the groom bandaids and the bride a sewing kit to fix her broken dress strap. We highly recommend the Michigan league for your wedding or event just book early as they are a very popular venue and book up very fast.

Our wedding had around 200 guests, and we were planning from out of state. As a result, many of our questions and concerns had to be handled over the phone and email, and Lindsay handled every single question and concern we had with efficiency and so much patience! The reception itself was extremely well coordinated and everything was handled professionally by the staff from start to finish. The food was also excellent, and the League handled any dietary concerns or restrictions so well- including some last minute changes! I couldn't recommend the venue more, everything and everyone went above and beyond our expectations!

We had a wonderful experience using the Michigan League as the location of both our wedding ceremony and reception. Throughout the entire planning process, the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and responsive. Our coordinator in particular, Lindsay Sorgenfrei, patiently answered many, many questions; gave helpful insight into logistics and the flow of events; and graciously and calmly talked us through various options when we ended up with more guests than originally anticipated. We are so grateful that the staff at the League not only provided expert guidance during planning, but also managed the day of the wedding so seamlessly that we were able to just enjoy the evening.

We had a wonderful experience using the Michigan League as the location of both our wedding ceremony and reception. Throughout the entire planning process, the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and responsive. Our coordinator in particular, Lindsay Sorgenfrei, patiently answered many, many questions; gave helpful insight into logistics and the flow of events; and graciously and calmly talked us through various options when we ended up with more guests than originally anticipated. The Michigan League was awesome! The setting of the Ballroom for the reception and the Vandenburg/Concourse for cocktails was perfect for 175 people. The team at the League, led by our event coordinator, Chelsea Herlein, was amazing! Chelsea took care of everything, answered any question, and was so wonderful leading up to the big day. Everything went smoothly and she kept me totally calm! The food was delicious (salmon, steak) and the service was wonderful. The venue surpassed my high expectations!

We were married at the League on June 24th, and it was a great venue and experience! We had both our ceremony and reception here, and because the ballroom needs to be flipped from ceremony to dinner/reception, we also booked the Vandenberg Room and Concourse. We had 130 at our wedding, and the ballroom was cozy (but not cramped--it can easily handle much larger weddings), and we loved that we and our guests could pop outside for some air (and to scope out Top of the Park) if we wanted. We also had many out-of-town guests, and I would absolutely recommend the Inn at the League for accommodations--the hotel and housekeeping staff upstairs were amazing, the rooms affordable and spacious, and we used the suite as our bridal party ready room and a family gathering space the whole weekend.When you book the League you're assigned a coordinator, and we were fortunate enough to work with Claire, who was friendly and professional. My fiance and I procrastinated a bit, and Claire was incredibly patient with us. She had wonderful suggestions for the space (one of which is that you really don't need to do much to the ballroom to make it beautiful, unless you want to) and helped us figure out how to meet/not exceed the food & beverage minimum in the best possible way (tip--if you can afford it, the Slurping Turtle sushi platters were a humongous hit). The League catering staff were very flexible--we asked for potatoes with the flank steak instead of plantains, they can mix and match alcohol options, they added imported cheese to the domestic, and gladly set us up with soft pretzels and cheese a la carte (my favorite junk food!) for a late night snack--I think they could probably accommodate almost any request with enough notice. Any issues during the reception were addressed promptly by Claire, and she was also very friendly to all of our vendors, answering their questions so everything ran smoothly on Saturday. The League coordinators are good at what they do and help make the day go smoothly. On our wedding day the space was just beautiful, the dinner was great, the snacks and appetizers were delicious, and the donuts (we opted for Washtenaw Dairy donuts instead of cake) were beautifully displayed. We are so happy we chose this space for our wedding. Planning a wedding is a lot of work, so it helps to find a venue that is flexible and understanding. I'd highly recommend the Michigan League--we're so happy we picked it for our venue!

My wife and I were married in the ballroom of the Michigan League, and we can't recommend it more! We worked with Jane in the event office as our venue coordinator. I highly recommend the Michigan League and would use it again for any type of event in future.

My hubby and I love Ann Arbor and all things \"blue\" and we wanted to get married in town. We love the ballroom at the Michigan League and that's where we decided to hold our reception.After going through planning a wedding I can't express enough how lucky my husband and I felt for having the League behind this wedding. We worked with Chelsea who is the most caring, organized and detail-oriented person! She checked in with me very frequently throughout the year prior to the wedding to ask if i needed help with anything. The league set up all of our center pieces and packed them up after the wedding so I didn't have to hire additional people to help. The League provides almost anything you (may not think) you need which makes it so easy. The food was amazing and all of the students that worked during the reception were so sweet and did a great job. I have to mention the food again---this is not your typical wedding food and we received so many compliments for the food. Overall, there was hardly anything that the League was not able to help us with......they are the best at doing weddings in Ann Arbor!I could not have imagined a better venue and better crew to trust with a wedding reception!! Absolutely amazing!!

Chelsea was a god-send to us. The rates at the League are beyond reasonable. The staff was so incredibly helpful with our questions as well as our concerns about logistics right up to the day of. For having done a mostly DIY decoration the League team was meticulous in how they set up what we had lain out for them. The rooms are all beautiful as well. The catering at the League is affordable as well as delicious and satisfying and it was a wonderful experience with working around the amount of children we had attend our wedding as well as the amount of allergies we had dealt with. They are extremely cooperative and attuned to your needs as long as you make them aware. Chelsea not only helped us with logistics, but also kept in constant contact with us so that we always knew what was going on. She was also easy to contact at a moment's notice, something that was very important for our wedding. The staff that ran the reception was extremely kind and extremely helpful, as they not only helped keep things in motion but also did a wonderful job in service and set up, as well as helping us take everything down and packing things up. We were allowed to create our own layout for our reception space and were provided with a room for the day in which myself and my girls were able to get ready and store all of our things in for the day. There could not have been more convenience or ease in this portion of our planning, or for that matter, our day!

Our wedding at the Michigan League was picture-perfect - we lucked out with Kayla as our phenomenally well-organized coordinator and absolutely everything went perfectly! We were very impressed with the quality of the food and the service, and the League worked seamlessly to make sure our catered desserts and flower arrangements were set up plenty of time before the event. The Hussey Room was a perfect setting for our 70 guests, the acoustics for our string trio were terrific, and it made for a beautifully memorable night!

I cannot say enough how special our wedding day was at the Michigan League. I received comments from every guest on how beautiful the location was. We had a our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on the second floor int he ballroom. My husband is a Michigan grad and we live in Ann Arbor -- the League was the perfect choice for our Fall wedding. Everyone in the office made the entire process easy from booking our date to the details of the day of! I didn't have to worry about anything! Chelsea was our main coordinator and was lovely to work with. Everything we needed, she took care of. I would 100% pick to have our wedding at the League again, and am so extremely pleased with how everything went. I can't say enough wonderful things about it!

We could not have asked for a better wedding venue. My husband and I both met at Michigan, so it meant a lot to us to get married on campus, and we are so glad to have picked the League. Chelsea, our event coordinator, was very helpful during the planning process and was able to accommodate us when we had to make changes. The Ballroom is beautiful, and the food and staff were excellent, and a great perk is that your or your guests can stay in the rooms at the Inn at the League (if they aren't booked). This was a great option for our elderly guests.

Having our reception at the Michigan League Ballroom and the ceremony at the Michigan League Hussey was the most romantic venue we could have thought of with our budget. The service was superb and professional, the food was delicious - the guests were talking about it for days! The room seems so grand and splendid. Really it was just fantastic. On top of that, Kayla did a fantastic job helping us plan our 130-person event. Everything went above and beyond our wildest expectations. THANK YOU MICHIGAN LEAGUE!!!!

Claire Monstevens was super helpful helping us coordinate the food, special requests we made for the reception, and the table arrangements. She was always available to talk about different options, especially as the big day drew closer.

Second, that our reception could be at the League in the Hussey Room with the grandeur and expertise in service and quality!! It was magical. Claire Leigh-Monstevens was the perfect person to work with from the event for tasting to the reception itself. Our catering manager and server were so attentive and met every need! The League is beautiful, spacious, and easy to find, and it may have a special significance for academically minded people and those with a connection to Michigan. For the duration of my wedding, the staff there were extremely responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with without being intrusive, and they did a wonderful job managing the different personalities of the parties involved in planning and carrying out the event. The League's event coordinator was exceptionally responsive--she worked with me for months ahead of time to get everything right, and she was very easy to reach via phone or email, the latter of which is especially important to me. Thank you to the League staff for a lovely wedding!

We decided on the Michigan League in Ann Arbor because it was important for us to have our family and friends spend time in our home town. We are SO HAPPY we had our wedding reception in the League Ballroom. We worked with Jane in the event office and she was incredibly helpful and responsive. The building is a beautiful setting for brides looking for something beyond the standard hotel ballroom. The food was great and all of our guests complimented the space. This is a great option for those looking to have a larger wedding in Ann Arbor at a reasonable price!

I had my reception in the ballroom of the Michigan League. I could not be happier with the level of service and quality of the venue, food, and staff. The room itself is beautiful, the wait staff is very helpful and professional. Our wedding coordinator, Jane Lloyd, was extremely helpful and returned all of my emails promptly and professionally. I greatly appreciated having our own server for the evening and having our food served first. This helped in being able to eat while also being attentive to our guests needs. I highly recommend this as a venue for a wedding reception!

We were pleased with the League from our first meeting with their staff. They worked with us to plan every detail of our reception and made plenty of helpful suggestions along the way because of their years of experience. The food was beautiful and delicious, and the catering staff and bartenders were exceptional. The on-site garden was perfect for pictures, and several of our guests stayed in the League's hotel and loved it. I have a hard time believing there's a more beautiful location for a reception in the Ann Arbor area.

The Michigan League is a great venue. They are certainly not inexepensive but they were willing to work with us and were extremely responsive. My husband and I had a noon ceremony in the ballroom and a short cocktail reception immediately following. The chef helped create custom appetizers for our guests which was great since we loved his main entree creations but were not thrilled with the standard appetizer menu. The ballroom was a perfect venue for a large ceremony. We would happily suggest the League to anyone!

I loved the look of this ballroom! Very elegant and didn't need any extra decoration! The staff was very helpful but we did end up having some issues with table seating being recorded wrong by the venue. All in all, however, the staff was very helpful and all I had to do was drop off a few items the day before and the rest was taken care of. Food choices were also excellent!

We had our ceremony in the Garden/Courtyard and it was 88 degree's that day, but by 5pm the garden was shaded and cooled down with a nice breeze. The ceremony was under the the tree on the grass, the area is so green it was beautiful. Our guest where seated on 3 sides of us and felt very personal. The reception was immediately following in the Ballroom and it was gorgeous! Food was great, service was awesome!

The Michigan League is an olf building onthe University of Michigan campus. It is a gorgeous building and the room was very spaceous but had a cozy warm feel. Perfect for a winter wedding.
