We had our wedding cocktail hour and reception at the Union on 8/6/22, and the entire event was a dream. Our cocktail hour took place in the Courtyard, where the glass ceiling and flexible seating provided the perfect ambiance. The reception was held in Rogel Ballroom, and the room looked incredible. The catering staff were attentive and professional, and they even helped us clean up and load cars at the end of the night. The food was delicious, and we appreciated that we were able to attend a tasting earlier in the spring for engaged couples to make sure we chose the right dishes. We planned our event with Lauren Yanakeff, who was incredibly on-the-ball and knowledgable about the planning process. She answered our many questions swiftly, met with us in person, and put us at ease throughout the entire process.

The Union is an incredible place to get married. We knew we wanted to get married downtown and the Rogel Ballroom is completely gorgeous. Minimal decorations required, the prices are incredibly reasonable as far as wedding venues go, and the staff is excellent. Planning a wedding during COVID is not easy, but the Union was awesome. So supportive and flexible and willing to do whatever was needed. The food is good, the service is good, and the place is beautiful. What more can you ask for!

The Union is an incredible place to get married. We knew we wanted to get married downtown and the Rogel Ballroom is completely gorgeous. My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Michigan Union over Labor Day Weekend and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. The Rogel Ballroom was a dream venue, especially since both my husband and I attended UMich. Jane was an amazing coordinator/POC and helped us through every detail, especially when we were planning amidst the uncertainties of COVID. She was extremely responsive and organized throughout the entire planning process and as a result, I was not stressed at all the day-of and our reception went off beautifully. The food and bar service were both amazing as well - my husband and I appreciated that they put aside appetizer plates for us from cocktail hour while we were mingling and taking sunset photos (it’s the little things, haha). At the end of the night after my husband and I had left, we heard from our parents and bridal party that cleanup/rounding up our items to take home was extremely easy and efficient with the Michigan Union staff.Thank you to Jane and the entire Michigan Union events staff for helping us throw an incredible wedding reception. We and our guests had an amazing time and I cannot recommend the Jane and the Union enough to couples looking to get married in Ann Arbor!

When we were looking for a timeless wedding venue for our 2020 wedding, we came across the Michigan Union and fell in love with its tall ceilings and historic charm. We were so excited to have our reception in the Rogel Ballroom, however unfortunately due to Covid, we had to change our plans. Wedding planning is hard enough, but planning during a pandemic is in a league of its own. We cannot recommend our coordinator, Lindsay enough. She has been incredibly responsive, caring, honest, and resourceful throughout this process. Any couple who gets the pleasure to work with her is a lucky one. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with wonderful and caring staff, you should definitely book U of M.

When we were looking for a timeless wedding venue for our 2020 wedding, we came across the Michigan Union and fell in love with its tall ceilings and historic charm. We were so excited to have our reception in the Rogel Ballroom, however unfortunately due to Covid, we had to change our plans. Wedding planning is hard enough, but planning during a pandemic is in a league of its own. We cannot recommend our coordinator, Lindsay enough. She has been incredibly responsive, caring, honest, and resourceful throughout this process. Any couple who gets the pleasure to work with her is a lucky one. If you are looking for a beautiful venue with wonderful and caring staff, you should definitely book U of M.

The Michigan Union is an AMAZING venue to work with! Planning a wedding during a global pandemic has had its challenges, but the Union has been wonderful through it all. I write this review with a heavy heart that we are not able to get married at the Union, because we have decided it was best for us to move our June wedding outdoors. If I was getting married in 2022 I would definitely be getting married here! The staff has had amazing communication and has been very thoughtful through it all. We were able to do the food tasting before we changed venues, and the food was delicious. We are extremely bummed we won't be able to have it at our wedding. The Union is a venue that many other vendors are familiar with and enjoy working with, so it's very convenient to find great people to work with for your big day. I cannot thank them enough for their flexibility and understanding.

I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. The staff did an incredible job navigating the evolving situation related to the pandemic. They were more than accommodating the entire way through, as our wedding plans continued to change. When we ultimately decided to change our venue to an outdoor setting, the staff could not have been more supportive. We received a full refund and they worked with us to still cater the event. I couldn't have asked for a better venue and hope to use them again for our next event.

We loved having our cocktail hour and reception at the Michigan Union. We rented out the Pendleton Room for cocktail hour and the Ballroom for our reception. They were also prepared to move our ceremony into the Pendleton if needed since our ceremony was outside. Luckily we didn't have to! We worked with Chelsea Herlein and she was the best! My husband and I wanted a U of M Wedding that could accommodate a large number of guests and this was the perfect location. Chelsea and her team did a great job accommodating some of our nontraditional requests such as buffet stations instead of a typical plated dinner. Everything went smoothly and we had so much fun. We definitely recommend working with the Michigan Union and Chelsea!

We loved having our cocktail hour and reception at the Michigan Union. We rented out the Pendleton Room for cocktail hour and the Ballroom for our reception. They were also prepared to move our ceremony into the Pendleton if needed since our ceremony was outside. Luckily we didn't have to! We worked with Chelsea Herlein and she was the best! My husband and I wanted a U of M Wedding that could accommodate a large number of guests and this was the perfect location. The building itself is beautiful, but it was the staff members involved in the planning and execution of the event who truly set this apart from other venues we looked at. Throughout the planning process, the staff at the Michigan Union was highly responsive and incredibly helpful. The event was beautifully run from the cocktail hour in the Pendleton Room through the end of the reception in the Rogel Ballroom. We could not have asked for a more special day.

We had our wedding just two days ago and I will truly say that everything was amazing! Chelsea, our event coordinator was great, always accommodating us, we had last minute guest list changes that were a pain in the *&%%$@ but at the end it was all worth it! The Rogel Ballroom is gorgeous (doesn't need any additional decor really) and reception went so smoothly, everyone had an awesome time, food was good, the open bar was a hit! It was really a night we won't forget! More than recommended.

We had our wedding reception in the Rogel ballroom at the Michigan Union. Chelsea was our contact person. When we first started planning (about a year prior to the event), the communication with her was frustrating and slow. However, we expressed some frustration and then it definitely changed. She ended up being quick to respond and overall very organized. Our actual reception at the Union was almost perfect. The ballroom is grand and beautiful. We had 200 guests and it felt spacious. The front of the room has a stage which was perfect for our band. The only negative to the evening is dinner service was slow and caused us to push back our first dance and getting the party started on the dance floor. Also, although Chelsea had carefully outlined guest allergies and who would require special meals, the kitchen messed up big time here. They did not have three special meals that they should have had for people with allergies. One person (a vendor) just didn't have an entree and two others received a meal completely unlike the original dish (the dish was Indian and they ended up with a mushroom dish). This was pretty disappointing. However, Chelsea did reach out and apologize on the kitchen's behalf and tried to make up for it with some refund.Overall, our experience planning with the Union was very good and our evening was wonderful. The Rogel Ballroom is truly a grand ballroom for any reception.

We saved a fortune by choosing the Pendleton Room at the Michigan Union, but you'd never know! The food was superb, the venue was beautiful, and the planning process was easy and stress free with Lindsay's incredible support. We received compliments all night long. I would highly recommend the Michigan Union to anyone!

Our wedding reception was made absolutely perfect by our coordinator, Lindsay Sorgenfrei and the U of M staff. We saved a fortune by choosing the Pendleton Room at the Michigan Union, but you'd never know! The food was superb, the venue was beautiful, and the planning process was easy and stress free with Lindsay's incredible support. We received compliments all night long. I would highly recommend the Michigan Union to anyone!

As Michigan Alum we were thrilled that we could have our wedding at the Union. This was a place that had real meaning to us over the years. We ended up doing our cocktail hour in the Pendleton Room with the reception in the Rogel Ballroom. Everything went as smoothly as we could have hoped throughout the whole process. Chelsea was very easy to work with and made sure we were totally prepared leading up to the event.I would 100% recommend having your wedding at this location. They are great to work with and help to put on an amazing event.

Jane at the Michigan Union helped our dreams come true. She kept track of all the details very carefully even though we were mostly communicating on email or phone (since we're in a different state). Some last minute furniture needed moving and added and everything was taken care of immediately. The food was great. It was also very reasonably priced. They showed great flexibility with the menu, i.e. even though our vegetarian option wasn't vegan they agreed to provide one or two vegan plates for guests who were vegan. The food tasting was great too because we got to sample a lot of food and choose from all the options available instead of a few select things we may like. All in all we recommend this venue.

We held our Ceremony and Rehearsal Dinner in the Pendleton room of the Michigan nion. First of all, the Pendleton room is an absolutely gorgeous venue, and actually it was the least expensive venue of the many that we looked at. Claire, our event manager, was knowledgeable, responsive, and accommodating. She typically responded to emails within an hour, and was extremely clear about pricing and arrangements. She made planning a breeze, and was able to provide us with everything that we needed, from catering to room layouts. When we showed the evening of the rehearsal dinner, the Union staff were already prepared for us, and a catering manager immediately greeted me and made sure everything was going as planned. The food (BBQ Buffet) and open bar were great, and service was fantastic. I received many compliments on the rehearsal dinner, and most of all my wife told me I did a good job. It was also extremely convenient to have the rehearsal dinner in the same room as the ceremony so we could spend more time with friends and family instead of traveling to another venue. The wedding ceremony was beautiful, and the Union staff again brought their A-game and delivered on everything in a professional manner. On the wedding day, we booked two separate rooms for the bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen before the ceremony, and used union catering to have subs and water in those rooms. The food was ready when we arrived, along with mirrors, chairs, and tissues. I can't recommend the union more highly for a rehearsal dinner or ceremony.

I recently had my wedding at the Rogel Ballroom and absolutely loved it!! I was blown away by the staff and received so many compliments on choosing such a wonderful facility!! We were very happy with our decision to have our wedding at the Michigan Union. Our coordinator Jane was amazing and everything turned out perfectly. We got many compliments on the food and beautiful venue from our guests as well. Would highly recommend having your wedding here!

You'd never believe catering services would be so attentive and delicious. Whelp, I've got news, believe it. Even if you've never attended U of M, the Union blows everything else in the area out of the water, even when you don't consider that they're also the most affordable!

You can't get any closer to a perfect day than the one we experienced for our wedding and reception in May. The staff at the Michigan Union, led by our liaison, Claire Leigh-Monstevens, was absolutely superb from start to finish. These are wonderful professionals; they are knowledgeable, friendly, and supremely helpful. They helped us with every last detail to make our event perfect and our guests feel well cared for. They asked us questions about things we had not thought of (and we thought of a lot!) On the day of the event, we were able to relax and let things flow, because the planning had been so meticulous and professional. The venue was beautiful, the food was great; the service was excellent; the staff were flexible and caring. They made us feel that our reception was as important to them as it was to us. Our guests raved about it. I could not have asked for a better experience. I recommend the Union and its team wholeheartedly and without exception.

From day one, we were so happy with the amount of flexibility we encountered from decorations to the menu. It was so nice not to worry about bringing in an outside caterer. Their menu is so extensive and has anything you could possibly want for affordable prices. I mostly worked with Kayla and it was always easy to get in touch with her with any questions we had. The rooms are beautiful and made decorating so easy. All of our guests raved about the building, the ballroom, the food, and everything in between. If you are on the fence about booking them for your reception, I say definitely go for it. You will be beyond satisfied with your choice; I know we are.

I was planning from Washington, DC while juggling full-time work and school, and I couldn't have done it without Claire. She made the process smooth and easy, ensured every detail was taken care of, and is a delight to work with. She even coordinates with your other vendors to ensure all is set! All the staff is incredibly helpful, professional, warm, responsive, generous & flexible-- all stars! They went above & beyond, including Rob & Melanie! The venue itself is stunning. From the moment I walked in and saw the historic, elegant building and rooms, I knew it was meant to be. We held the ceremony in Kuenzel, cocktail hour in Anderson, and reception in the gorgeous Pendleton. Even the bridal ready room in Blain is perfect. You get the convenience of all-in-one location with catering, servers, bar, excellent food & hors d'ouvres, linens, etc., all for good prices for the quality. It's located in the heart of campus and downtown, and across the street from the best wedding photo locations in town-- the Law Quad, art museum, and so much more. In every way, the Michigan Union was absolutely the right choice to celebrate and savor the most special and memorable day of my life! The staff was extremely helpful, they gave us a lot of suggestions and offered us tremendous help in coordinating with the vendors, setting up floor plans. The guests loved the Union as well.

From the planning to the actual event the customer service was phenomenal!!! The space is beautiful and the event staff were so wonderful to work with. They made sure everything was just right and checked in periodically to make sure. So many guests for weeks after the wedding complimented us on the reception. Highly recommend them!!!!!

Ken Knell at the Michigan Union was extremely helpful and made planning our wedding a breeze. Questions were answered quickly, he made recommendations and all was great. Sadly, the AC was out the day of the wedding, but the staff opened all the windows and brought in some fans to assist with the warmth.

At the last minute street parking was not an option and the wedding party had to scramble for parking.
