Milltown Historic District is a wedding venue located in New Braunfels, TX. With a stunning event space that is unique, cozy and accommodations make for a beautiful setting to say âI do.â Nestled along the Guadalupe River, Milltown Historic District is a short drive from Austin and the scenic parks of Canyon Lake. For celebrations of up to 200 guests, to-be-weds can exchange their vows along the riverbank overlooking the historic Faust Street Bridge or the beautiful white gazebo area and the indoor reception space boasts the spacious ballroom with elegant chandeliers and regal staircase is reminiscent of New Orleansâ French Quarter. The venue has indoor and outdoor space, allowing you flexibility and peace of mind while planning your special day. Dedicated to exceeding all expectations, this venueâs team sees each celebration through fresh eyes and takes joy in creating something magical for each couple. After scheduling a tour, to-be-weds can share their ideas regarding design and layout and discuss the preferred vendors that may suit their vision. Their event rates include day-of support staff, setup and teardown, bar services, and tables and chairs. For overnight guests and pre-ceremony preparations, the venue has five rustic cabins that can accommodate up to 36 guests. 5 stars for the venue and Vanessa!2 stars for upper management This was a very unique time to get married...COVID threw us all for a loop - bride and groom AND vendors. We had our wedding at the River Venue here at Milltown, which is a gorgeous, homey setting. The river is stunning with the bridge in the background (and close enough to get away for some off site photos). The patio is HUGE! There are already lights strung outside and there is enough character on the inside that requires minimal dressing up if you wanted to keep it more simple. This was good for us due to living out of the state and having less time for planning out tiny details of decor. In general my experience with MHD over this past year has been up and down. Given the circumstances of COVID, and having to reschedule our wedding from May to October, there were some intense hiccups in the process. Mainly from higher management and ownership. Lisa Hernandez is the Director of Operations, and when we were deciding how to move forward after having to dance;/reschedule our original date, it was a terrible experience trying to contact her in order to sort out details. We vaguely communicated for over 6 weeks about something that could have been handled in 2 due to her lack of response to my emails and not returning any of my calls. I would have preferred to be reimbursed and have a small private family gathering due to COVID but they would only allow me to reschedule for the next year. This made my wedding feel no longer like MY choice or decision but the decision of a venue, holding me hostage. COVID was NOT considered an act of God though the world was collectively in a state of emergency. It was extremely frustrating to go through this process with Lisa, mainly due to not only her lack of adequate communication but also a lack of empathy and humanity regarding the unusual circumstances. Had I felt like she cared at all, I may not have been so frustrated to the point of wanting to involve a lawyer. As was the case for many couples, and vendors, during the pandemic this was an extremely challenging situation, but I felt that upper management was NOT accommodating to the unique situation. I would give two stars to upper management and would hope that no one has to deal with them when in a defenseless situation. Vanessa Simpson, the Venue Manager, was my only saving grace at this point. She was EXTREMELY helpful, accommodating and understanding. She basically talked me off the ledge and went above and beyond to make sure we had more than what we needed and eased our concerns regarding COVID. The wedding day went beautifully. The venue is lovely and we were fortunate to have the best October weather. Thank you Vanessa for all of your help and support! You made the experience much easier and encouraged us to move forward with ease.

We absolutely LOVED this venue. My husband and I live out of state, while our families still live in Texas. They worked hand in hand with us as a couple, along with my parents to get everything done. The venue is beautiful and checked all of the boxes for us. Their staff are also wonderful to work with! The venue's preferred vendor list also has wonderful recommendations!

We stumbled upon this beautiful venue by chance walking along Faust Bridge, prior to our engagement. Once we were engaged, we couldn't stop thinking about this place. When we signed with Milltown for The River Venue, Vanessa was our point of contact, and if we could provide Vanessa a personalized review we would! She was amazing! She is amazing! She was incredibly responsive, flexible, and passionate about helping make our day special!Vanessa left Milltown about 6 months prior to our wedding, and we were so saddened by that news. After Vanessa left, we felt the personal touch from the venue also left. The communication afterwards was not at the same level.Do not get me wrong, the location is what you are paying for - it's breathtaking. It was the talk of our wedding, and still is! However for the price you pay there were certain things we expected. So here are some PROS and CONS.PROs:Location, location, location - you cannot beat it!The deck is beautiful at night - we had our dance floor outside with string lights overhead. It was magical! They even have a fireplace inside - we lit it after dinner.On site lodging for your and your wedding party (we rented 4 of the 5 available cabins and stayed throughout the weekend).Our coordinator (The Perfect Day) has worked with them for multiple weddings and the venue made the site available for vision meetings with our vendors, and we did rehearsal on site.Michael with the bartending team was incredibly helpful with alcohol numbers and suggestions for our signature drinks.CONs:Faust Bridge is public - so you may have wedding watchers (if that would bother you).Construction is currently happening (Nov 2021) in view of the outdoor ceremony site (the venue did not communicate this with us, we found out on a vision meeting about 30 days before the wedding). When our coordinator asked the venue if the construction would be paused on Saturday, they said yes. However minutes before we started, workers were on site and about to begin. Thankfully they did not. The key codes for the cabins did not work, and the hosts were not readily available. This added unnecessary stress and put us behind on rehearsal timelines. Bar wise - for a wedding venue we were shocked they did not supply drink carafes/dispensers for ease of mixed signature drinks.The parking lot is shared between their 3 venues - so up to 3 weddings could be happening at once. The places needs some sprucing up - the deck in particular. Some string lights were out, the paint is peeling and needs sealant. Overall our wedding was wonderful. The venue was beautiful, and we walked away in love and as husband and wife!! We hope this review helps you find your venue and your happily ever after!

I was asking for quotes (had some trouble starting the conversation) and when I scheduled an appointment to come out and view the facility, there was no one there. we confirmed the day before to meet and yet we waited 20 minutes until leaving.

Stunning location. The ceremony location was incredible â along the banks of the Guadalupe River with a small waterfall and the Faust St trellis bridge as our backdrop and beautiful shade trees over the ceremony lawn. The River Venue for our reception provided a huge deck overlooking the river for our cocktail hour, and even when we moved inside for the reception, two walls of floor to ceiling windows allowed us to continue to enjoy the view. I thought the venue was a renovated historical building and was amazed to find out how recently it had been built with such an eye for detail. Vanessa was awesome to work with from the very first meeting. She was always willing to answer questions, give advice, and generally take care of things. Zach deserves a shout out for all his hard work the day of the event, making sure everything was set up the way we requested. And the fact that bartending and security are provided as part of the venue package of services made it so easy. Canât imagine having picked any place else for our wedding.

Found this in a bridal magazine, went to visit during open house, and booked that night with Vanessa. Itâs like a Goldie Locks deal- we choose the medium size/price venue of Grande. It had a NOLA vibe inside and gazebo for the ceremony. We loooved it. Had Bill Millerâs cater, stocked our own bar (you pay the venue for a bartender and security) so it was amazing and I would recommend this venue

We recently got married at Milltown on December 30th, 2017! I feel like all the nice things I could say here about Milltown and the staff will not even do it justice. The buildings and outside scenery are stunning. I cried when I walked in the The Grande (where I got married) because of how beautiful it was! The on-site cabins are so convenient, comfortable, and clean. Stephanie and Tiana quickly became our good friends. They will go out of their way to make everything perfect for you. Tiana is amazing with a camera and shot beautiful engagement, bridal, and wedding photos for us. Pick Milltown and you will not be disappointed. I have nothing bad to say about them! I am forever grateful to these wonderful people and beautiful place for making my wedding dreams better than I could have ever imagined!

Everything was so amazing, from the venue, to the cabins, the views and of course, the staff which were the nicest and most helpful! Absolutely gorgeous venue. Stephanie was very helpful every step of the way. It's pricey but worth it! The only bummer is the 11pm hard out but that's due to New Braunfels City restrictions, not their policies. Thank you for being part of our special day!

Absolutely the best venue ever. We celebrated our wedding at the River Venue, and we had the honeymoon suite and river cabin for the night. Michelle and Stephanie made us feel like family and they were so understanding and quick to help us figure out anything we needed. The venue space is positively gorgeous, and we got everything we wanted from the cabins. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone I know. It was the perfect space for our wedding, and the venue offered everything we could need: bartender, florist, photographer, table linens, centerpiece decor, even invitation design.The only forewarning I would give: two of the venues at Milltown have the capacity to hold up to 200 people, but that is only with a specific table layout. If you want to have more than 150 guests, you will likely need to be flexible with the table layout. If you want to have a very large group, ASK the venue staff what is the best table layout for your group and venue. Don't plan your own layout for 175 people and then realize you have no space for a dance floor or walking room between tables. Just my advice.Huge thanks to the Milltown staff for taking so much of the stress out of our big day. 100% would recommend this venue to absolutely anyone.

My husband and I had our ceremony and reception in the River Venue at Milltown Historic District in November 2016, and we were beyond happy with the place as a venue. The recently upgraded outside patio (which was without a doubt our favorite part of the venue) perfectly accent to the historic Faust St. Bridge, and the River Venue itself, full of glass, and wood and stone elements is a beautiful space that was truly memorable for both us and our guests. The lawn was in excellent shape for being November in Texas, and the venue was clean and accessible to guests with mobility issues thanks to the staff-operated golf carts! They have a monthly payment plan which was definitely a plus when it came to budgeting for this wedding. They offer a good variety of linens, and provide the tables and chairs for both the ceremony and reception. We also rented all the of the cabins on-site for our out of town family and friends to stay in, which was PERFECT. The cabins are comfy, spacious, clean, and decorated in a quaint rustic way that suited our weddingâs theme. Overall, the space is beautiful, the staff professional, and the value worth it. We were not, however, made aware when we paid the deposit for the space that we were not guaranteed a place for a rehearsal. Our wedding was scheduled for a Saturday, meaning our rehearsal would traditionally be on a Friday. I didnât find out it wasnât guaranteed until months before the wedding, and then I was told they would let me know if the space was available in the month before, which led to some scrambling when we found out that a wedding was being held in the space that Friday after all. Being that November in Texas is a very popular wedding month, I think it might be better if all interested parties are informed straightaway that a rehearsal in the River Venue is unlikely.TLDR; Beautiful and unique venue; linens, tables and chairs available; be prepared to rehearse elsewhere, and be prepared to set up everything yourself!

The cabins are comfy, spacious, clean, and decorated in a quaint rustic way that suited our weddingâs theme. Overall, the space is beautiful, the staff professional, and the value worth it. We were not, however, made aware when we paid the deposit for the space that we were not guaranteed a place for a rehearsal. Our wedding was scheduled for a Saturday, meaning our rehearsal would traditionally be on a Friday. I didnât find out it wasnât guaranteed until months before the wedding, and then I was told they would let me know if the space was available in the month before, which led to some scrambling when we found out that a wedding was being held in the space that Friday after all. Being that November in Texas is a very popular wedding month, I think it might be better if all interested parties are informed straightaway that a rehearsal in the River Venue is unlikely.TLDR; Beautiful and unique venue; linens, tables and chairs available; be prepared to rehearse elsewhere, and be prepared to set up everything yourself!

The river venue is absolutely gorgeous! We couldn't have chosen a better place to hold our wedding. It was also a great surprise to find the deck had been expanded since we booked--perfect place for cocktail hour during the pretty fall weather. We also rented the honeymoon suite and the cabin next door, which came in handy as we were getting ready during the day AND for continuing the party with a few friends after the reception. Michelle was really responsive and great about meeting us in the months before the wedding, including on a Sunday before we had to head to the airport. We really appreciated it!The only hiccup was at the end of the night. The event had to end at 11, and we were told previously we had to be out by 12. However, staff told our coordinator that night that we had to be out by 11:30. I've catered numerous weddings myself, enough to know that 30 minutes to breakdown a wedding is simply not possible. An hour itself is already difficult. I would recommend clarifying this from the outset to avoid the stress at the end of the night.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the River Venue at Milltown on May 21, 2016. Overall, our event was wonderful and beautiful. For the wedding, we worked with 6-7 vendors and had lovely experiences with all of themâŠexcept Milltown. We dealt with several employees throughout the process. My mother and I routinely, felt like we were bothering the women in the office by choosing to do business with them. What a strange way to make your clients feel! When we tried to schedule times to visit the venue or confirm details, it usually felt like they wished we would not come by or contact them.One particularly experience stands out. I took a day off from work to visit the venue 6-8 weeks before the wedding. They scheduled an appointment for us in the afternoon. The woman showing us the venue repeatedly told us that we only had a few minutes because she had to pick her daughter up at school and that she could not come back afterwards. The woman did not even walk inside the venue but stood at the door, shaking her keys. We were rushed in and rushed out.If you have over 150 people, you have to pay for a second security officer. We communicated that we would have less people than that but were told we owed them for the second security officer (not a small sum of money). We confirmed that we would not have more than 150 guests. They continued to press us on the issue and insist we needed two security guards. It took a lot of effort to get this issue corrected. We rented four cabins. There was an issue in three of the four cabins. No toilet paper, a stopped up toilet, and a tiny bit of hot water and water pressure. The response from maintenance was less than timely. When we booked the venue (we were on site), the deck was rather small. When we visited the venue 6-8 weeks before the wedding, the deck had been rebuilt and doubled in size. When the employee saw our surprise, she remarked. âOh, we didnât tell you that we extended the deck?â UMM, NO. I am so glad we visited because it totally changed the layout for the event and changed the number of the tables/decorations we needed. We ran into many, many more issues throughout the planning process and the day of (longer review on Google). Nothing big but so many small things that the venue became the most stressful part of the wedding. If you choose to get married here, a word of advice: If you want it, ask for it and you still might have to take care of it yourself. My mother and I are or have been professionals in service industries. We truly believe in treating others how you want to be treated and demonstrated that throughout the process. I wish our experience with the staff had been different. The running of Milltown seems like a hobby. The weather was completely perfect so no one minded sitting outside but it's just something to keep in mind if you select Milltown.

First off we are told we have to set up our own ceremony chairs. Ok, so I just paid you to provide a venue but we have to set it up? Well my groomsmen and I did set it up, in the rain, and I have to say it looked pretty darn good, no thanks to the staff. It probably wasn't 20 minutes later and I saw the staff of the venue setting up chairs for another wedding on the grounds... wow Closer to our wedding date, we accepted the fact that its going to rain. They refused to set up a ceremony inside and then reset up for the reception. If we were to do our wedding inside, we would have to use the reception set up and just \"deal with it.\"\r\rThe lady helping us \"Stephanie\" was generally nice but not helpful at all. First they set up the reception tables completely different than what we had decided on. They were about 5 tables short, no mats on the floors to help wipe the feet from the weather, and the catering tables were missing. So instead of my wife relaxing on her big day, she was running around trying to get all of these issues fixed. Every time she asked Stephanie something, it would take her an hour to come back and she did not have the things my wife asked for, and then she would ask if there's anything she could do! AHH annoying.\r\rThey tried to tell us that we could for sure fit all of our guest into the reception hall and still have a dance floor, they were incredibly wrong! We had to start the reception with no dance floor because of space, and remove tables halfway through to make room for a dance floor. When the reception started the lighting was all the way up, no mood lighting, and the AC was on about 72. Generally that sound ok but with 180 people crammed into a reception hall I was sweating ALLL NIGHT. I called Stephanie to try to find a fix for the lights and AC and not only did she not answer, she did not even call back. Not once did someone from the venue stop by to make sure everything was ok and their excuse was \"We are understaffed.\"\rHere is what made me angry the most. We chose our spot for a wedding because the river was beautiful and it had a beautiful bridge going across it and we wanted all that in the background of our wedding, and that is also the selling point for that sight. Well they scheduled another wedding to take place ON the bridge DURING my wedding. So I can only hope that in my pictures there isn't another wedding floating above my head on a bridge. Not to mention you could hear BOTH ceremonies.\r\rMy advice, if you use this venue you need to stay on top of them and pester the staff or you will be running around on your wedding day trying to fix things they should have. If you can find another place with the same great look, do yourself a favor and do not use this venue.

I did my own decorations to save on the budget and they let me come in the day before to set it all up. On the day of the staff was there to help and gave us a ride to the bridge and waited there while we took some pictures. They stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothy throughout the night. If anything popped up someone was always close by to assist.

Wonderful/Perfect Wedding Venue for the Rustic or Country type wedding, we booked the River Venue which is steps away from the Guadalupe River, our ceremony was held outdoor right on the banks of the Guadalupe River, with an Amazing Back Drop of the river and rustic walk over Faust st. Bridge!! This made for Beautiful Engagement and Wedding Photos!! Staff was Wonderful and Attentive to our needs!! Only downfall would be selection of possibilities for bride and groom exit, but used glow sticks and the pictures came out wonderful!!! Otherwise we were able to choose our own vendors, without having to choose from a mandatory list. Great Service and Venue all around!!

The flower arrangements were done by Stephanie, she did an awesome job and incorporated our daughter's theme of coral love birds into the arrangements. Our new son n law carved out the birds and placed them on sticks for the arrangements.\r\rThe acoustics were awesome in this old mill turned into an elegant, fun, happening event center.\r\rHighly recommend the Grande Hall for a wedding with less than 130 guests. Not only that, but the staff are incredibly friendly, always accommodating, and happy to help you with all of your wedding needs. It's a family run business and they do a great job of making you feel like you're part of that family. They also provide a vendor list which we found very helpful, and it was a great bonus having an in-house photographer (who also does stationary, but we did not use that service) & florist. All in all, I'd have to say our wonderful and perfect wedding would not have been possible without the fabulous family running this event center. My new hubby and I wanted an all-in-one wedding location, complete with lodging for our out of town guests. Milltown was that perfect location with the most convenience and gorgeous outdoor scenery, being next to the Guadalupe River. It was also very sentimental for my husband's family. The old mill was where his grandfather used to work, who passed away while my husband was attending basic military training. Our ceremony was beautiful. The staff was there every step of the way and were very helpful! It had rained the night before and they came out and brought towels and assisted us with wiping down about 90 chairs. They made sure we had everything we needed. Stephanie made sure my flowers were delivered on time and they were breathtaking! Michelle relieved all of my stress and was there to answer all of my late night panic questions the night before! My family enjoyed the area and they thought the venue was gorgeous! We had a great time and we would recommend Milltown to anyone!

The staff was beyond helpful and went above and beyond to help fix a problem created by the city of New Braunfels! The staff at Milltown even went as far as spray painting some grass back to green that the city had killed with a pipe running across my wedding spot. Our wedding was amazing and I would choose Milltown again in a heartbeat!

The venue was really important to me, so that's where we spent the biggest chunk of our budget. But it was a beautiful, perfect place that gave the effect of an outdoor setting while still being in the cool of air conditioning! Our guests loved the rustic feel, the lawn and river to explore and the bridge adjacent to the property. The only drawback was they started doing construction in the time that we booked and our wedding, so the parking lot closest to the venue was roped off and filled with construction materials.

Our guests loved the rustic feel, the lawn and river to explore and the bridge adjacent to the property. The only drawback was they started doing construction in the time that we booked and our wedding, so the parking lot closest to the venue was roped off and filled with construction materials.
