We are so happy that we chose Monterey Tides for our wedding! The day could not have gone any better. The beach ceremony and reception were beautiful. Kelly is a rock star and did such an amazing job coordinating with vendors and putting out fires so that we were able to enjoy our special day. The location and views are absolutely amazing. The morning after our wedding many of our guests had brunch at the hotel restaurant and were given quite the show by migrating whales breaching the water! Reviewed on 19-09-2018
Melanie Brucks(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-07-2017 We blocked Monterey Tides as our wedding hotel for our guests, but we had the service and reception elsewhere. We chose MT for their beautiful view-- and they did not disappoint in this regard. The lobby is a great place to hang out, and the view is to die for. However, working with them was very difficult. From the beginning, their website did not work for the wedding block. It only displayed Ocean View (and not the cheaper Garden View), plus there were many issues with our guests booking the rooms, so my husband ended up being the middle man for everything (very frustrating!). We also decided to use the bonfire package to have a pre-wedding event. We had the event for around 30 people and it cost $250 for them to set up a small fire and some chairs. It would have cost another $250 to have alcohol there (with a $1000 minimum on top of that!) They refused to offer any other compromises (e.g., we bring alcohol, we buy wine/beer from them but serve it ourselves...). Also, my bridesmaids and I got ready in the Captain's room, which was a nice space. But in order to have a light breakfast (some cereal, granola, seasonal fruit, coffee and tea) it cost $22 per person! (this was after they waived the $6 fee for having less than 20 people at the event). There were other hidden fees as well-- 1. there is a $25 \"resort fee\" for each night, 2. if we wanted to give our guests welcome bags it would cost $2 per bag to pass out at the desk and we weren't able to leave them outside the rooms... Also, it would take a long time for them to get back to us. Many times we had to wait a week or more, and they kept switching who we were in contact with. At one point, a month or so before the wedding, I realized the most recent point of contact didn't even know I was getting ready there with the bridesmaids! They don't communicate between themselves well. Overall, this was one of the decisions I regretted. It took too much time. Reviewed on 24-07-2017

Monterey Beach Resort is an absolutely stunning venue. After looking at several places, we chose MBR because it was the prettiest and most convenient (everything in one place - ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and overnight accomodations). We had our ceremony of 110 guests on the south beach and our reception in the Points Ballroom. Everything about the day turned out perfectly. However, you have to be proactive with them and maybe hire a coordinator. Lura is good at responding to emails, but Cristina is not (accounting for only 4 stars instead of 5).There were several times I tried to reach her via email and phone calls and she did not get back to me. On the actual day of the wedding, my coordinator (Carolyn Wilson - LOVE her) said that Cristina really stepped it up and was there for whatever was needed the day of, which is nice. If you don't mind staying on top of the venue to ensure you get what you need, then this is an excellent venue. Reviewed on 24-08-2012
Stephanie Durr(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-06-2012 I loved this place! It is beautiful, the view is breathtaking and the food was delicious! Our wedding went perfectly and the reception was beautiful as well. Everyone seems to be very helpful, but I felt that the communication was lacking in the pre-wedding department. But all-in-all, great place at a reasonable price!!! Reviewed on 04-08-2012
Renee Trevino(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-07-2012 In regards to the wedding itself the property and staff were amazing. My wedding day turned out better than expected and everyone made me feel like a queen. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is because it was not mentioned that everything is broken out in the beginning so at the last minute I was trying to find a DJ, bakery, etc. Reviewed on 30-07-2012

The staff was helpful and our wedding turned out great. The only caveat is that you have to use their preferred vendors for everything! Reviewed on 30-05-2011
