Mountainville Manor Reviews
Rachel J(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-06-2021 Mountainville Manor helped us craft our dream wedding.. it was absolute perfection and beyond what I could've imagined. And I'm not known for exaggerating. Thinking about our wedding, I well up in gratitude for the most beautiful day that was put together to a tee. There are moments that I believe most people can point to and say \"I knew this was it\". I felt it when my husband and I were getting to know each other, when I visited the home we now live in, when I tried on the dress that I said yes to, and I remember having distinctly felt it when I visited Mountainville Manor back in December 2020, and met Lauren for the first time. Michael and I took a tour, tasted the food, chatted about having a COVID wedding and what that would look like for us. Then on the drive back, I had said, \"this is where we're getting married\". It takes a very special person to be able to instill trust - that you can hand over the many details of this day that you will remember for the rest of your life, and they've got you; they genuinely care, empathize, and will do everything in their power to help you. I encountered this in Lauren and thereby, in her team. Planning this wedding was a wonderful experience because Lauren listened to what we wanted and made suggestions as if she could read our minds. She made wedding planning easier and more enjoyable. A small example: I mentioned wanting honey favors with a \"meant to bee\" sign and Lauren helped procure adorable glass bear jars, found a local organic honey vendor, and presented the fee for taking care of it all. Simply amazing. For folks like me out there who take the time to read all these reviews, know that this venue is more than just a business. These people love what they do and are extremely good at it. Chef Craig floored our guests with some of the best food they've ever had at not just any wedding, but in their entire lives. Sally made stunning mocktails for my husband and I who do not drink alcohol, and refreshments and actual cocktails that our guests raved about. James is the man who will fix everything and together with Lauren, they handled the finer points I wouldn't have even thought of. An example: they took care of the outdoor-nature-bug situation so our guests and our food remained safe and happy throughout the entire evening. Another example: they brought over the flower pot displays and cards box from the Ceremony area and guestbook station to our Sweetheart Table during the reception. What a nice touch! Everything at this manor is just right. The size, the atmosphere, the location.. I loved our getting ready rooms, and having our first look photos taken under the shade of the rotund porch. We had a gorgeous outdoor Ceremony by the gazebo, Cocktail Hour with a display station and passed hors d'oeuvres, and Tented Reception with a five course plated dinner. Our color theme was white and blush with a splash of coral. We were beyond pleased with the table settings, linens, sweetheart table arrangement, and more. My goodness, the cake was delicious - for those who share my flavor palate, I recommend vanilla cake with lemon curd filling, elderflower syrup, and buttercream frosting. You will not regret it. I cannot thank these kind, thoughtful, and talented people enough. They are truly wonderful. I'm so glad our paths crossed and am so proud of the Wedding we put together. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit soon for another special occasion. Reviewed on 03-07-2021

Having our wedding at Mountainville Manor was the best decision we could have made. Our wedding was amazing, down to every single detail. The second I walked into this venue, I knew that this is where we would have to have our wedding. And I was right! Firstly, Mountainville Manor is spotless- the cleanest venue I have been to when visiting wedding options. Next, the team at Mountainville Manor, from the owners- Lauren, James, and the Head Chef Shelton, are all amazing, beyond attentive, and truly cared that we had the best wedding experience ever. It was all about us! You will be the only wedding there at the time, and you are their main and only focus. Their dedication to the bride and groom shows, and Lauren especially worked with me for many months on every detail to make sure everything was perfect and the way we liked it. The food is insanely amazing- the best we’ve ever had at a wedding- we are still getting phone calls from our guests about the food and the beauty of the venue. The service was perfect, classy and smooth. And the venue was set up to perfection- it was beyond gorgeous. Not to mention , Lauren makes sure everything is laid out for you before you get there- so all u have to do is arrive, get ready, get married, and have fun. Lauren was there with me the whole way through, from the moment we decided to go with Mountainville Manor to the very end, including even packing up for us, and ensuring that we didn't forget one thing. Mountainville Manor is truly a very special place, from the beauty of the grounds, the beauty of the interior space, the absolute best attention to detail of the set up from the cocktail hour and into the reception, the amazing food, and most of all the special people who own and run Mountainville Manor.Thank you to Lauren and James and Chef Shelton for giving us the most beautiful and memorable wedding ever! You will forever be in our hearts and a part of our lives!Erica and Jonathan Lipp Reviewed on 11-12-2023

If you were going to \"build\" the people that you wanted to work with on one of your lifes most special days they would be Laura and James the owners of Mountainville Manor. From our first visit they were caring, enthusiastic, focused on the details and dedicated to ensuring our happiness. We knew after our tasting with Chef Tom and Sally the \"bar chef\" that we had found our place. Their attention to detail, creativity and genuine effort to make you happy were unmistakable. The day of our event was fantastic - from the way Lauren helped accomodate our desire for a mid-November outdoor ceremony, to James being flexible with our seating chart, every effort was made to make us happy. We really enjoyed the bridal suite, groom room and the provided drinks and snacks while getting ready. Lauren kept us on schedule and allowed us to enjoy the big day.We could honestly write a book about the job that Chef Tom and bar chef Sally and their teams do with the food and drink. Sally makes creative cocktails and many of the set-up items she makes herself. The guests raved about their cocktails. The food was incredible in terms of quality and quantity. The cocktail hour was a great mix of passed hor duerves and an asian station which was filled repeatedly. The sit down dinner was a beautiful pear and beet salad, pasta bolognese and then a choice of steak, salmon or cauliflower steak, The food was so good and there was so much that we all ate until we couldn't eat anymore. But of course, then there was the cake. Laura and James partnered with a great bakery and our cake was amazing. One additional thing about the food - the groom as well as one of the guests have serious allergies. From the cocktail hour, where we each received our own plate of hor deurves, to dinner where certain courses was customized for us, to the cake that had an allergy friendly tier we were taken care of. The service from the kitchen, to the waitstaff, to the bartenders follow Lauren and James lead and are kind, accommodating and provide 5 star service.Lauren and James - thank you and your team for making our special day special! My wedding at Mountainville Manor was perfect, from the beginning of the planning process to decoration collection the week after. My husband and I are extremely detail-oriented, so making our wedding dreams come true and keeping us calm during the planning process was no small feat for Lauren, James, Chef Craig, and their wonderful team. Whenever we visited the manor, we were greeted by a lovely, talented group of vendors who had all congregated to bring the cake tasting, the drink designing, the flower arranging, the menu curating—everything—to us. On the day of the wedding, the manor looked spectacular. We knew from previous visits that the property was gorgeous and the natural beauty unparalleled, but we didn’t anticipate how many luxurious details we would encounter: my favorite teas waiting in the bridal suite, local pastries in the groom room, a glamorous valet (Sergio!), and so much more. Throughout the wedding, Lauren and James brought our somewhat complicated vision to life flawlessly. Our ceremony involved several processions, a capella choral singing, and an archival-quality document; all were handled with care. And then there was the James Beard Award winning dinner! I will never finish singing Chef Craig’s praises. With such excellent food in front of my guests, it would have been understandable had the bar not measured up—but Sally, Mountainville’s mixologist, is now a legend in my family. She managed to defy the expectations of even my British guests, with her vibrant amethyst Butterfly Peaflower Gin & Tonic, topped with pansies. The highlight of the night came after dinner, when my guests took an outdoor interlude from an intense dance set to gather round Mountainville’s fire pit and enjoy Lauren’s incredible homemade marshmallows at the cutest s’mores station. I could go on, but why bother? I’d only be wasting your time, when you should really be emailing Lauren and James to book your wedding date at Mountainville Manor. Reviewed on 12-10-2023

If you’re looking for an all-inclusive venue space in the Hudson Valley, seriously LOOK NO FURTHER. This venue is astounding! I could list a million reasons why this place is absolutely perfect, but I’d like to focus on their services/packages, cuisine, the Manor itself, and finally the incredible team & staff!Services/Packages: Planning a wedding is extensive, expensive and can unfortunately become very stressful. My husband and I knew from the beginning that we wanted an all inclusive venue to ease our anticipated stress. We toured several venues before Mountainville Manor, but nothing truly checked off all of our boxes….until we met Lauren & James. This venue HAS IT ALL. The food, drinks, tables/linens, cake, indoor & outdoor accommodations, exclusive use of the manor, day of coordinator, amazing staff, you name it! During our tour, we were kindly presented with several package options to accommodate all of our needs, dreams and budget! Lauren & James also provided a convenient list of recommended vendors (DJ, Florist, Officiant…who were all superb as well!) which made the planning process that much easier. Everything was at our fingertips and we didn’t even need a planner! Cuisine: My husband and I, like many other couples, wanted our wedding to be timeless, memorable, and talked about years later. We are definitely people pleasers and we gave a lot of thought to what people truly appreciate and remember at weddings. We came to this conclusion: food, alcohol and music. And let me tell you, Mountainville Manor DID NOT disappoint! During our initial tour, we were sat down for a complimentary tasting, where we were able to meet Chef Craig who is a James Beard award winner! Wedding food doesn’t have the best reputation and Cheg Craig expressed his vision and passion to bring elegance and tasteful cuisine back into the wedding industry. The food was beyond delicious, and was a huge selling point! On our wedding day, our guests sat down and enjoyed a beautifully plated and delicious 3 course meal, along with  hors d’oeuvres, late night snacks, coffee & tea, and a beautiful cake that was included in our package. In addition to the food, the cocktails were incredible! Their bartender, Sally, is knowledgable and truly an expert mixologist. Our signature cocktails were the talk of the night! Sally makes her own syrups and infusions which made for incredibly fresh and delectable cocktails. (Side note: We also teamed up with their recommended DJ, Matt with LB entertainment who also knocked it out of the park…so it’s safe to say we had SPECTACULAR food, alcohol and music. Several guests complimented us all night revealing this was the best wedding they have ever been to!) The Manor Itself: It’s hard not to talk about the physical aspects of the venue as well. The manor is a restored Victorian mansion that is insanely beautiful, romantic, and clean (seriously did not see a speck of dust in this place!) My husband and I adored the wrap around porch and the rolling hills that surrounded the venue. We used their spacious bridal and groomsmen suite that morning of our wedding, and had our ceremony in front of a beautiful and intimate gazebo. Not to mention, they offered both indoor and outdoor accommodations, so my husband and I never really worried about the weather! The Incredible Team & Staff: From day one, Lauren and James felt like family. They are honestly some of the nicest people we have ever met. Never did I feel like they were “selling” us anything. They are truly passionate about ensuring your day is everything you have ever dreamed of. They were kindhearted, professional, communicative, incredibly responsive, and so much more! Keep in mind, Lauren and James are not your wedding planner, but they never failed to kindly offer their recommendations, kept track of all of our requests, and ensure we had everything we needed. The day of our wedding, their staff was hard working, well mannered and very professional. Throughout the day, Lauren and James checked in with us to make sure everything was perfect. The BEST hospitality!!! We truly cannot say enough about Mountainville Manor, but their commitment to a seamless and beautiful wedding experience is held in high regard! Veronica Osborn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2023 We got married last month (April 2023) at the Mountainville Manor in Mountainville, NY. We're located in the NYC area and we knew we wanted to get married in upstate NY. I cannot say enough good things about our experience working with Lauren, James and the Mountainville Manor team (catering staff, mixologist Sally, Chef Craig). Lauren gave us amazing local recommendations for our DJ, photographer, and florist, and she was truly the most valuable person throughout the entire wedding planning process. Lauren was with us every step of the way from the beginning stages promptly answering all of our questions, coordinating a tasting session with Sally for signature cocktails & Denise for our cake selection, assisting with the details and design work that we didn't even know we needed, and expertly bringing everything together as the BEST day-of coordinator. When I found I had a last-minute stain on my dress the night before, Lauren worked her magic to make the spot disappear! Both James and Lauren checked in on us multiple times throughout the evening, making sure that we had drinks, food, and that everything was going well. It's not only Lauren and James either who went above & beyond for us, the whole team worked hard to make our day as special as possible. We had heard \"the food at Mountainville Manor is amazing\" before from our vendors, but the food was TRULY spectacular and was even better than we expected -- our guests raved about every course, especially the soup, and the wedding cake as well! The manor, grounds, ballroom, and getting ready spaces were all so beautiful -- it was like a dream, we soaked up every moment of the day with our loved ones and have stunning photos we are so happy with. The Manor is tastefully decorated making for an impeccable and elegant venue. The setting is magnificent and beyond amazing. Lauren's communication skills and attention to detail from day one made it easy to plan the perfect wedding. We started the morning of the wedding with a bridal brunch which was out of this world. They later served the groom and family lunch which was much appreciated and equally as delicious. The weather was amazing so we had an intimate outdoor ceremony and had made a special request to have champagne brought outside to the guests following the ceremony. Not only did they accommodate us but also brought out the passed Hors D'oeuvres as well. We continued on to cocktail hour in the 2 lovely cocktail rooms. Food was abundant and there were plenty of servers to keep things flowing seamlessly. Lauren and James were on top of everything from start to finish making the day run smoothly and effortlessly. All the vendors recommended by Lauren were top notch. The food and drinks during cocktail hour and the reception were incredible and the kitchen staff superb. A special thank you to Master Chef Craig and the rest of the kitchen staff for an incredible dinner. As soon as we entered, we both said, \"Is this for real? It's gorgeous.\" We met Lauren and James, the owners, who gave us a tour of the facility, but more significantly, we fell in love with how ardently she cared about giving her customers unforgettable experiences. Although we loved the area, the food, the scenery and the owners (Lauren and James) was the main reason we were so enamored with it. It was at Mountainville Manor that we would celebrate our union.Mountainville Manor was one of the first and last locations we toured when considering options for where to have our wedding. We were so in love with the place, we couldn’t picture anywhere else to celebrate. Everything was so meticulously planned and executed from the time we first met to the wedding day that it couldn't have gone any better. The staff was amazing and friendly, and we appreciated seeing how much they enjoyed their work; this is a huge reflection on the company as a whole. We were provided with samples of their meals. The Mountainville Manor's Lauren, James, and crew did a fantastic job making this event ideal for us. They were incredibly understanding and helpful throughout this trying time. The outdoor wedding ceremony and reception venue were lovely, and the food was excellent. Everything was taken care of for us, so all we had to do was enjoy the evening with our guests. When we had last-minute modifications leading up to the wedding, Lauren and James were exceedingly accommodating during the planning stage. Due to the pandemic, they were incredibly accommodating in allowing us to reschedule. We decided to hold our reception at the manor. Mountainville Manor did not require a caterer because they had a resident chef and baker who offered their own food alternatives. The location is very special and lovely, and it was perfect for our special day. I have nothing but praise for Lauren and James; they were wonderful! Lauren was our constant throughout the entire process, even though we reserved the Mountainville Manor well in advance of our scheduled date and there were several adjustments along the way. She always responded to our endless questions and made sure we felt supported throughout the process, from start to end. When you plan your first (hopefully last) wedding, there's so many things to account for and she has it down to the T. The fact that Mountainville Manor is all inclusive made planning that much more simple. The venue is naturally beautiful, homey and quaint - that's all you really need honestly. Besides aesthetics, the food, drinks, and service is what really made me fall in love with this place. Did I mention the food is amazing? Every wedding I've been to was absolutely stunning, but the food.. not so much. Everything served here is 5 star quality, my guests couldn't stop talking about the food or drinks. And I can't end this review without shouting out the bartender, Sally. She is the most down to earth person there is and she is always serving you with a huge grin on her face. Michael and I live 6 hours away, so we had to make a decision quickly. We were initially impressed with how the venue looked and the packages provided: they provide all inclusive packages and most importantly, they boasted unique and customized menus from a James Beard and Michelin Star chef. I thought, 'What a steal - I don't have to worry about finding someone to do my cake or a catering company.' Or so I thought. We were so excited to book MM on a very popular month (we got married October 7, 2022), that we gave our deposit one week after the initial tour and menu tasting. All customer service pretty much stopped there. After the initial payment, I honestly didn't hear back from Lauren unless I was the one reaching out, scheduling the next time we meet in person, or scheduling Zoom calls because we were at a distance. There was no communication initiated by Lauren or James unless it was time to pay them.I ignored that for most of the wedding planning - after all, I have to give them the benefit of the doubt right? I can't just now start from scratch and find another venue being 6 hours away.In the 15 months we planned our wedding, we spoke to Lauren only TWICE on the phone and only ONCE in-person to determine our signature cocktail. During this tasting, we worked with their ONLY main bartender, Sally, who was rude, loud, and obnoxious during our tasting. When my now husband called her out on it, she literally stormed out of the venue stomping like a 5 year old child. To make matters worse, Lauren or James who were at the venue when this occurred, but catering to another family having their rehearsal, did not make any apologies whatsoever about Sally's behavior. They shushed us when we tried to keep talking about it - almost scared to discipline their employee. We later found out that Lauren and Sally are very close friends for years - makes absolute sense. The fiasco during our signature cocktail tasting found its way to our wedding day: we did not want Sally as our bartender and because they don't have another bartender, they contracted out bartenders for our wedding day who did not make the same cocktails - not even close - and who were rude, unprofessional, not friendly whatsoever, and did NOT want to be there.Below are some of the other horrible experiences we had working with MM owners:- Heard multiple people comment on Lauren's negative and rude attitude including our parents, groomsmen, bridesmaids, and many different guests who commented on how uncomfortable and unwelcome she made them feel -Lauren LEAVES the venue at 8:30p - our wedding ends at 10pm-Lauren FORGETS my ring bearer and flower girl's signs for the ceremony even though I provided those to her two nights before and a list of items that needs to be used during the wedding-Waitstaff wrapped the top tier of our cake in JUST tin foil and ruined it-Lauren or James - nowhere to be found during the ceremony - did not give our officiant a chance to make introductions There is a lot more to be said - MM needs more experienced owners who actually care about you and not just money. Charlotte Strege(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-08-2022 We had our micro-wedding at Mountainville Manor at the end of August 2022. We booked the champagne micro-wedding package, which included all the food (5 course meal, cake, hors d'oevres), as well as the flowers. Having this package made organizing the wedding much easier for us by limiting the number of vendors that we had to book ourselves, while still being flexible enough to incorporate any adjustments that we wanted for our special day. The team was super friendly, responsive, and overall easy to work with, from the initial planning to coordinating with the vendors on the day. The manor is beautiful and we thought it was a perfect spot for a small, intimate wedding. One highlight for us in particular was the food, which all of our guests were raving about. Ariana Pakizegi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-06-2022 Mountainville Manor was the first venue we visited after we got engaged. We found the venue on The Knot and I had a feeling it would be the one! From the moment we met with Lauren, we really fell in love with the property. It felt intimate, had a lot of latitude for personalization and the location was so beautiful (even on a winter day). The tour we received was wonderful - Lauren answered every question patiently and thoroughly. We got to taste the excellent food prepared by Chef Craig Shelton and were able to spend time walking around the property. Lauren went out of her way to be accommodating in literally every way (big or small). No question was too annoying or insignificant and I knew we were in good hands. As the wedding approached, it gave me so much peace of mind knowing that Lauren would be taking care of us and James and the rest of the staff (Sally, Chef Ernie, Chef Craig) were amazing. Lauren knew our florist (Flowers by Joann) well and that was an added plus. Lauren allowed us to bring in special desserts that meant a lot to our family and helped us set them up on the day of. The room that the bride gets ready in was absolutely perfect (comfortable and great for getting ready / pictures) and my nerves were certainly calmed! The food is really spectacular - many of our guests have told us that it was the best food that they have had at a wedding. The display stations are so carefully designed and everything was really so personal and special. I truly could go on and on, but I really cannot recommend this venue enough. It sounds cheesy to say, but it really was our dream wedding! We are so grateful for the memories that will last a lifetime. Reviewed on 12-07-2022

The Manor is both warm and intimate with tons of charm. We were married outside and the lawn area and landscaping was both clean and free from debris. The bridal party got dressed for the wedding in the upstairs groom/bridal suites which were large rooms and very clean. Lauren and James who own and operate the Manor were so easy going and professional and just great to work with. You couldn't ask for a nicer couple to help plan your dream wedding. They went above and beyond to make us happy and I really appreciate all their hard work to make our day special. The food at this venue was incredible and our guest all talked about how delicious everything tasted. We had a few guests who needed special meals and Lauren served them herself to ensure they would get their specialty made meals. I really appreciate Lauren taking extra special care of my guests and ensuring we all had a great time! My husband also wanted a special beer and she made sure her bar was fully stocked. The bar tenders who tended bar were both professional and incredible mixologist. They created a apple bourbon signature cocktail made fresh with Hudson Valley apples and it was delicious! We used the baker, Ernie that Lauren recommended and our 3 layer red velvet cake was not only visually beautifully but melted in our mouths.I would recommend this venue 100% to anyone who is planning both a small or large (we had about 100 and no one felt crowded) wedding and wants a beautiful, warm, intimate setting for your special day. I already had it in my head that I wanted a U shaped table and I had the exact scene in my head that I thought would be perfect for us. Lauren made every single idea I had in my head a reality. Her and her staff of young people were amazing. They were so nice and super talented. They brought every vision I had for our big day to fruition. The bartender Sally was super cool and made the BEST drinks ever. Yes we had wine and beer, which I usually stick to, but it was hot and I wanted something fruity. Lauren and her entire team are spectacular, and they all went the extra mile to ensure that things were taken care of for us, so that we could focus on savoring each and every moment of the day. In fact, several of my guests commented that they had never seen a more relaxed bride! All of Mountainville Manor’s wedding packages are all-inclusive, and you can choose different locations for where you’d like to have your ceremony and cocktail hour. They have a gazebo that is tailor-made for a ceremony, and we chose that, which the team helped prepare for us. There is a full bridal suite with a bathroom, and across the hall there is a groom suite as well, which offered us a most pleasant place to get ready for our day. Every space in the manor is exquisitely decorated, from the memorable Moodna room to the bright cocktail space, the gorgeous wrap-around porch in the front, and expansive ballroom that can fit up to 150 people. Everything went off without a hitch, which I attribute to the amazing staff there. Lauren is an expert in her craft and provided us with checklists and briefings, even corresponding with our officiant to make sure that everything would go well. She will work with you and arrange a precise timeline for the day so that you know exactly what is happening and when, which is immensely helpful for the members of the wedding party and guests alike. She readily provided suggestions for local vendors in the area, many of whom she knows personally, and everyone she suggested, including the musicians, florist, and photographer, was a joy to work with. As any bride knows, planning a wedding can be incredibly stressful, but Lauren went above and beyond to walk us through the entire process, and in her capable hands our day went extremely smoothly.Chef Craig Shelton, a James Beard award winner, is a fountain of knowledge and master of his art, and his food was universally loved by all of our guests. Lauren and Chef Craig worked closely with us to craft a unique menu that those in attendance will never forget, and we were able to customize everything to suit our tastes, from the impeccable passed hors d'oeuvres to the scrumptious wedding cake, to our refreshing signature cocktail, which was made by their amazing mixologist Sally. It is evident that the staff is immensely proud of the service that they provide, and will gladly assist in making your day effortless and absolutely unforgettable. My husband and I couldn’t have made a better choice for a venue, and our guests are still raving about the extraordinary wedding that we had at Mountainville Manor. Lauren, James and their entire team (especially Rockstar Megan and Mixologist Sally) helped make our wedding day spectacular, to say the least. Lauren was wonderful to work with and extremely attentive to all of our needs and even our wants -- going as far as offering to help with things that were not in her role to do, but out of kindness and the desire to make our day special really went out of her way, genuinely always wanting to help. Each time I sent her a message, she would respond quickly and would always find ways to make things work in our favor and safe, especially considering this was very much still a pandemic-time wedding. She and James also went as far as to make sure that Wi-Fi extenders were installed so that we could host our wedding ceremony outdoors by the gazebo for our virtual guests who were streaming to watch, which definitely helped us share the intimate moment with our loved ones who couldn't be there in person. Mountainville Manor's grounds are well-maintained and manicured which gave our photographer / videographer team easy, but great backdrops to work with for our portraits. The ballroom was well-equipped with a nice sound system that our DJ was able to take advantage of. Our guests absolutely loved the food and drinks and the cake was perfect! We also had the entire venue to ourselves for the day which made things, like getting ready, so much more convenient and simple -- even for the groom! Mountainville Manor will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we absolutely recommend this to all couples looking for a gorgeous space, stunning ambiance, delicious food and drinks and an incredible staff that will make your wedding day a beautiful breeze with beautiful memories to last a lifetime!
