Anndrea Anderson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-05-2022 We booked our 5/7/22 wedding at the Sioux Falls Museum of Visual Materials and WOW. This place is absolutely stunning. It fit perfectly the vision we had for our wedding+ceremony, and we could not have picked a better venue. Taryn and Ben were so extremely professional and helped make the wedding go off without a hitch. Ben was so quick to respond to my emails ahead of the wedding, and was so assuring and helpful with any questions or concerns I brought his way. The planning process could not have been easier and we felt like we had complete control of our wedding vision. The venue created a custom layout for our big day, provided everything we needed, from linens to chairs and tables and everything was spectacular! We brought some out-of-the box ideas and they were absolutely happy to accommodate and make everything come to fruition just as we envisioned it. I'd have my wedding here 1,000 times over if I could! The compliments from guests and family members were non-stop about how beautiful the venue was and how amazing the overall experience was. I can not recommend this venue enough!! Megan Turnis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-02-2015 The space itself is so pretty you really don't need to do a whole lot of decorating. Jeremy and the staff were very helpful with all of our needs. For an extra cost we rented the museum for the day before also and they had all the tables, chairs, and linens set up for us. All we had to do was set up center pieces. They locked the building up and didn't open it back up till the day of our event when our remaining venders needed to get in to set up. The have a good selection of beer and wine to choose from and allowed us to chose our own catering. Overall we had a great experience. Reviewed on 15-03-2015
Berit Foss(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-01-1970 Loved having our reception here! We did not have to do too much decorating because the building has so much character! It was perfect for a wedding of 200 guests. Perfect space. Easy to work with those running it! Reviewed on 20-11-2014
Whitney Christensen(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-04-2013 They really have a uniqe space. You hardly have to decorate with the beautiful wood flooring, art, and exposed stones and brick. It was an enchanting space. The staff who I worked with prior to the event were helpful, but not overly helpful. The staff member on the wedding day was a little aloof and I wasn't exactly sure what her role was. Reviewed on 23-04-2013

Rebecca Romkema(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-09-2012 The building is really cool, I loved the rustic, eclectic look. But there were a few issues. \r1. We could not decorate the night before because they had already booked the location, and they wouldn't let you book Friday and Saturday. This resulted in us doing the rehearsal the day of, and some big decorating issues.\r2. We were VERY LIMITED on decorating time. we only had from 8am to noon. And when I arrived at 8:00, the doors were locked. When someone finally let me in, I found that they had not cleaned up the area so my mother, wedding party and other family had to help clean up from the night before so we could actually start decorating. It was a mad dash. The Museum's excuse for the four hour decorating time was that they were short staffed (considering we paid for the entire day, I felt they should have figured something better out). We had to decorate and do the rehearsal in that four hour time period. They also locked the doors at noon, so if we couldn't even leave anything in the building that we would need for pictures. They then opened the doors again at 4:00.\r3. They change the artwork on the walls every two months. The first two times I toured the building, they had really beautiful artwork hanging up. BUT on the day of the wedding I found that the art had changed again, to a burned wood technique of naked humans. Basically all of my head table shots have abstract pictures of boobs, vaginas, and butts. I didn't want to do the tacky white thing behind the head table so I just went with it, and am going to Photoshop out the naked pictures.\r\rThe building is very \"green\ Reviewed on 18-10-2012
Megan Punt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-09-2012 Amazing architecture, great \"green\" building to utilize to have an amazing wedding ceremony. Alicia Coggins(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-08-2011 My husband and I toured several reception venues both in Rapid City and Sioux Falls, but couldn't picture actually hosting our reception anywhere until we toured the Museum of Visual Materials in downtown Sioux Falls. There is SO MUCH character in the building; a LEED Green Certified facility. We had approximately 160 guests at our reception, and the space worked perfectly. We were able to create an earthy/woodsy theme by decorating with mason jars hung from the support beams, slices of tree trunks on every table, and hundreds of fresh flowers. The atmosphere was incredible, and exactly what we were looking for. Comparatively, the price is UNBEATABLE!! We also appreciated being able to contract our own outside catering service. The staff was very friendly and took care of us 100%. The museum curator, Jeremy, has a long history of working within the wedding industry. We contracted our DJ service through him as well, and at a discount for using the Museum, so it all was an incredible value. We are so happy that we had the wedding of our dreams and couldn't be more pleased with our vendor selections! Reviewed on 02-11-2011

The staff is friendly and accomadated us. I rated it a four because what starts out at a low price quickly adds up when you have to buy everything above and beyond a 100 chairs and tables at a la carte prices. Reviewed on 14-09-2010
