Ashley McWilliams(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-08-2022 When we started looking for a wedding venue, I knew I wanted a site on a lake where all our family could stay and have all the events in one place - a weekend event more than just the wedding. The Newfound Lake Inn was absolutely perfect. We had our rehearsal dinner in the restaurant and our ceremony on the beach with the gorgeous lake and mountains as a backdrop (the Inn even asked the boat owners to move so they weren’t in the background of our pictures!). I was able to travel from the hotel to the beach in a horse drawn carriage and back to our cocktail hour on the lawn. Afterwards we had an amazing celebration with our friends and family in the barn for our reception that continued in the hotel bar for afterglow. The next morning we had a delicious brunch before everyone headed home. The entire weekend was absolutely perfect. Baylie was very thorough in helping us plan this wonderful weekend and worked well as the site coordinator with our wedding planner. There were times that communication, particularly, email was slower than ideal but we did eventually get answers to all of our questions. The lack of modernization, especially in the ability to book rooms online or even by phone, was an impediment to some of our guests who did elect to stay offsite rather than continue to call multiple times. Hopefully this will be updated soon for future weddings and guests. I am still so happy with our entire wedding weekend and genuinely wish we could relive the entire weekend again. So many of our friends and family have said it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever attended. Reviewed on 06-11-2022
Amanda Vito(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2022 I am so glad my husband and I found the Newfound Lake Inn to host our wedding. The venue and scenery are truly remarkable. The food was delicious and was served in a timely manner. The inn allowed me to store my boxes of decorations in the barn a few days prior to the wedding and had this not happened it would have made the following day a lot more stressful. The bartenders at the event were friendly and delightful and I am grateful for the service they provided. However, along with the wonderful things I can say about the venue it came with a lot of faults as well. The communication with Baylie as the day of coordinate was horrid. She took multiple days if not over a week to respond to my emails. When we had scheduled phone calls, she did not review my emails that I had been sending, which answered a lot of her questions she proceeded to ask. She failed to tell me I was responsible for picking a beer list until 2 weeks prior to the event. The menu also changed a few times since our tasting in March 2022 and I was not made aware of these changes until I was finalizing my menu merely weeks before the wedding. On the day of the wedding my family found it difficult to find her for assistance, and Baylie had previously told me she would be available to put chair sashes on the ceremony chair - yet she told my Step Mom that she no longer felt comfortable doing.Baylie did not listen to my concerns about floor layout upon my arrival to the wedding weekend. She did not follow through on many tasks she said she would. My party favors were put out by my Mom and my Aunt which I was previously told this would be something a staff member would be able to assist with. Instead, my family members rushed to put them out as the reception was nearing the end.My friends and family had the all the rooms, but one, booked at the inn for the weekend. The staff did not allow the courtesy to my guests to check in early despite the rooms being empty and available. We did ask the staff if early lodging accommodations could be made for my nearly 90-year-old grandmother who would soon be arriving, and Baylie merely shrugged her shoulders at us (as in an “oh well” kind of attitude) and said there was nothing she could do about it. The light breakfast that was provided at the inn ran out of coffee and pastries every morning and finding a staff member to refill it was no easy task. By Sunday they were all out of bagels, even knowing that every room at the inn was booked. After spending nearly $43,000 (venue, food, lodging, drinks) for a one-night event I truly just expected exceptional customer service which I do not feel we received. I would not recommend any brides to have their lodging at this venue if you choose to have your wedding here. Reviewed on 05-11-2022

It was clear that the bridge and groom and the 150 guests were thoroughly enjoying themselves at this great venue, and many of them commented to us and to Larry, the co-owner and consummate host, that it was a great wedding. The setting is beautiful, and we had an outdoor cocktail hour on the beautifully landscaped lawns with a view across Newfound Lake. The wedding barn is a stunning and comfortable space. Plenty of room to dance, mingle, and the tables were not crowded together. The food and drinks were great. Lots of good selections, featuring fresh local ingredients. Highly recommend going with the pie buffet for dessert- featuring Larry's assortment of freshly made pies that he personally bakes. Larry is a very engaging host, and does everything he can to ensure that everyone has a good experience. He had told us \"you and your guests will not be disappointed\ Reviewed on 27-06-2019

Kyle Lawton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-05-2018 The hotel has an incredible view to the lake and is an old beautiful house. If you want to enjoy your visit you need to know it will be like go back in time, back to the wallpaper, tall beds and shared bathrooms. I was there with my husband and we were lucky to have a room that had also a bathroom, in the other side of the hall. But the beautiful decoration, the cleanness, the view, the porche, the garden is worth it. In our case the ocassion was a wedding, so it was the perfect venue for that because they really did a great job in the service. People in the hotel are very nice. The hotel has a private beach in the lake, so if you go in summer bring your bathing suit and if you go in winter, I am sure you will feel very warm and comfortable inside the hotel but bring a book because there is no television in the rooms. There is a tv room that you can use. There is also wifi in the hotel so you can watch what ever you want in your computer. Sunday we had a great brunch, but the rest of the days breakfast was just average. Many people get married here, so there is something special in this place: the love is in the air! He even had late night adult beverage with us on the porch after the wedding was over! From start to finish Linda could not have been more helpful. Even when something did go wrong, me as the Bride was unware. Just as it should be. I keep getting messages from my guests that attended and they all raved about the food (filet mignon and the haddock.) We also served homemade pies! Larry helped execute every detail perfectly and even gave my sister the last minute option to still do the wedding standing on the beach if the weather had cleared, and I know she really loved that flexibility. The ceremony inside the barn was beautiful, the wedding on the lawn was perfect and the fireworks at the end of the night were incredible. Overall huge success and you could tell Larry put his whole heart into making everything go smoothly, including serving the tables when needed! As Maid of Honor and someone who grew up on Newfound, I was beyond happy with the experience! It was exactly the type of setting we were hoping for; relaxed, rustic, comfortable, beautiful scenery and inn and charming reception. Linda and Larry know what they are doing when it comes to coordinating a wedding and are there for you every step of the way, but without being intrusive. I don't know how they do it! Our guests were also raving about the Inn and the delicious food (we served chicken havarti and haddock) and the hand made pies from the Inn were also a huge hit!I cannot thank Linda and Larry enough, and everyone at the Inn as well. Sarah Palmer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-08-2016 We had our wedding there at the end of August and we could not be happier. We only booked the venue in February of this year and everything went great despite the short planing time. We picked this place because we vacation at Newfound Lake all summer long. Living in New Jersey and going to weddings there, this is not your typical wedding factory venue where they do more than one wedding a day, this is a place where the owners actually work your entire event and you can see the pride and \"home made\" quality. The barn is beautiful and so are the gardens and the beach, New England beauty. The food was really good and not so lavish and over the top, what you can find in other places, but just really classy. Our guests loved the wedding and we could not be happier. The only downside is that there is no \"flat rate\" fee for the bar, but everything is paid by the glass/ bottle. We got an estimate before from the Inn, what we could expect with an open bar and we actually came in below. The entire contract is very itemized, but in the end it does not cost more than anywhere else and it worth every penny. They do all the set-up for you besides the tables decoration and flowers (that the florist does), which is nice, so you do not have to do too much work yourself. We used the vendors and band recommended by the Inn and it worked out great, Mountain Laurel for flowers and the Club Soda Band. Also, do the fireworks, they were pretty great and all of our guests very so surprised. Reviewed on 26-09-2016
Andrea Benoit(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-07-2013 I had an amazing wedding at the Inn on Newfound Lake! The slow response times (or lack of responses) to the planning emails scared me a little, but the wedding day was flawless. Larry is an amazing host who is there from ceremony start until the end of the reception. In our case he also baked 16 pies the day of the wedding for our desserts! No detail will be left undone at this venue. So happy with my choice. Reviewed on 08-08-2013
Amy Devoid(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-06-2013 We had our wedding at the Inn in late June. We chose it as our wedding venue because it is an absolutely beautiful location - great gardens, cool refinished barn. Also, I grew up in the area and spent many days on Newfound Lake so it was really special for me to get married there. Joy was really helpful and pleasant during the planning process, although she is clearly overworked. Most of our guests didn't end up staying at the Inn, because they have a 2 night minimum and they only needed 1.\r\rThe grounds and the barn (and the Inn itself) are incredibly beautiful. There is a little dock across the street where you can get some great pictures. The whole place has a really elegant feel but with a touch of rustic NH - there are cool antler chandeliers in the barn but it still manages to not feel like a hunting lodge! \r\rThe reason I only gave the Inn 2 stars is because the service we received before, during, and after the wedding by the Inn's owner, Larry, left a lot to be desired. I felt bullied when I wanted to do things that are outside their normal mode of operation (for example, something as simple as having the groom put the Inn-required place cards on the tables instead of having guests pick them up on their way in). He was rude and pushy during our rehearsal (he didn't seem to like the way we organized our processional and kept trying to make us do it a different way).\r\rWe hosted an open bar and 4 guests mentioned that their drinks were taken away by servers before they were empty, and when they said they weren't finished they were told \"it's ok, just go get another one.\" Their open bar is charged per drink, not a flat rate, so we ended up paying for an unknown number of extra drinks. \r\rSeveral guests received the wrong meals, in spite of my handmade place cards being written on (even though I had clearly indicated the meal choice on the card already, and they were approved by Larry). Larry blamed that on our guests who didn't pick up their cards - so the servers just asked guests what they wanted to eat. This would be fine, but they only make the exact number of meals you request. So - if you request 4 vegetarian meals and someone with beef changes their mind, one of your vegetarians is going to get stuck either with no meal or eating the beef. Some guests who DID pick up their cards still got the wrong meal (and one meal was lost for a period of time). We also paid an extra $2 per person for upgraded salads, which weren't served (we did get a refund for those).\r\rBOTTOM LINE: If you're looking for a spectacularly beautiful place to get married, with good food and strong drinks AND you're strong enough to stand up for what you want, you request that they make extra meals, tell your guests not to put their drinks down - this is the place for you.\r\rLastly, Larry asks guests outright to write Yelp reviews. I called the Inn to find out why the above problems happened so I could write a positive review (maybe a server or a cook was out sick, or they had a bunch of new hires, or a million other acceptable reasons) and was treated to a very unprofessional voicemail from Larry in which he accepted NO responsibility and in which I was treated with blatant disrespect. My husband called to speak with him and ask what he would be doing to rectify the situation and Larry said he would call back on the weekend - we never heard back. Reviewed on 27-07-2013
amanda leigh robbins(wedding party)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-07-2018 The Inn was a beautiful location for my cousin's wedding. The scenery was amazing and I could not ask for better from their grounds crew....they do an amazing job.\r\rThe wedding was beautiful but there were many things that went wrong that did not go unnoticed by myself and or the bride. \r\rFirst, the rehearsal was less than smooth. Larry did not listen to what the bride or groom was saying or what they wanted. I think the groom said that he and his brother were walking their mother down the aisle about 4 times and yet a few minutes later Larry made a very offensive and uncomfortable comment to the mother of the groom saying, \"oh...no husband?!?\". Kidding or not we were not amused. Then he made another comment about the groom’s side not having any grandparents there. The awkward comments would and could have been avoided if he paid attention to what the bride and groom said a FEW times earlier.\r\rThe ceremony was beautiful on the lawn and the barn was set up amazing. Very pretty.\r\rThe inn requires you to have place setting for every guest. On the place setting you have to put the meal that the guest requested. On top of that you have to submit your seating chart along with what meals go where. When I heard this I thought a little pain in the butt but it will make the food service go smooth. Holy crap was I wrong. The main meal serve was a cluster. The best man was the LAST person to get his meal. They brought the food out by food the type (ie fish, beef) not by table. I assumed that the seating chart was so they could plate the trays by table. Example... table 1 has 3 fish 4 beef and 1 vegetarian. Done...one tray one trip done. Nope. Tray of beef went out and the service staff went wandering around looking for the beef people. Then another tray of beef. So there were tables of people with beef and it was a long time before a tray of fish came out to distribute. \r\rThen a guest did not get their meal and when requested she was told they were out of fish. A few minutes later Larry came back saying oh I found you a fish. Meanwhile, at another table someone switched their meal for fish with no problem. I was very confused. However, Sarah from the wait staff was extremely helpful and hands down wonderful.\r\rMy date and I had the beef. It was very good but the portions were completely out of whack. My piece was much smaller than my dates and over cooked. (Still tasty though) My date’s piece was very large (he had no complaints). The lady sitting next to him her piece was even larger. Rule number one of banquet food serving is to make sure all the food is presented the same. The steaks did not have to be the exact same ounce, but I should not be able to see the difference in the sizes from across the table.\r\rOnce service was over and it was just party time. The wedding a blast the DJ was a lot of fun.\r\r\rAfter, Larry was terrible. Called the bride a liar when she told him about the things that went wrong. When I wrote a letter to complain...he called the BRIDE back and told him her that he \"Does not care about me or my opinion\" Honestly, the most UNPROFESSIONAL \"manager\" out there. When as the maid of honor it is my job to help the bride and to care. \r\rWe have been very disrespected and mistreated by Larry. \r Reviewed on 17-07-2013

Working with the Inn Keepers and staff was a great pleasure, as they made the process not only very stress free, but also a lot of fun.\r\rThe service was amazing, and everyone who was at the wedding is still talking about it. The food was so good that we had a number of people tell us they would travel from afar just to come back to experience the rest of the stuff the Inn serves, as everyone was very impressed with every aspect of the meals.\r\rWhile planning the menu for the reception, the Inn Keeper mentioned that he could do a pie service in conjunction with the cake. Luckily we took his advice, as that was AMAZING. The pies went quick, and here it is two weeks later and we are still getting messages from people who were at the wedding stating how much they enjoyed the pies. They were defintely a big hit, and we would most certainly reccomend this option, as you will without a doubt not regret it.\r\rIn planning our wedding and going through the schedule of events with the Inn Keepers, we opted for the late night fireworks show to finish the big day off with. We were amazed at the show the Inn Keepers put on for us, as was every one of our guests. It was simply a great way to finish the night with, and everyone was very impressed.\r\rOverall, we were both so impressed and are already looking forward to our next trip to the Inn to experience the fine dining, amazing service, and friendliness of the staff that works there. \r\r Reviewed on 02-10-2012
