We used this venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. It was so beautiful! The staff was very welcoming. All the staff was very attentive to us and our guest. Simone/catering sales manager was amazing!!!! Simone was very helpful with the planning and organizing the day.

Everyone we dealt with at the Marriott was extremely pleasant and helpful while going through the planning process. They definitely know their stuff and their confidence in putting on a successful event really helped take some stress out of the whole process for us. It is obvious that they really want you to have the wedding you envisioned, even if that vision changes! Once we saw everything in place on the day of our wedding, we decided we wanted an extra table in one place and a different table in another. It was taken care of right away. The shining stars, though, were the staff working the event! Employees passing through would offer us water and snacks as we were setting up. During family photos, they served us the appetizers that we chose for the cocktail hour so we didn't miss out! We had dinner stations set up for our guests but the wait staff got our plates for us which made eating a little easier ... it's still nearly impossible for the bride and groom to eat a full meal at their own wedding! I didn't get a chance to meet the bartender until closer to the end of the night but he was fantastic as well. He knew everyone's drink of choice and was making jokes while serving. They ran out of our favorite beer and someone ran over to the other side of the hotel to bring us more even though the night was just about over!! So many of our guests commented how helpful and how nice and friendly the staff were. It would have been easy for them to just do their job but they all went above and beyond and really made an impression on us all. It seemed like they were genuinely having fun while working and taking care of everything for us! They were also like machines helping break everything down at the end of the night. Job extremely well done!Food: As I mentioned, we had the dinner stations. I could not have been more pleased with the food. Our guests absolutely raved about the mashed potato bar and the pasta station. No one had to wait in line very long and they even kept going back for more! The only reason I hesitated to give five stars was because of the cost. It was a little pricey BUT if you can afford it, having your wedding at the City Center Marriott is worth every penny.

Cherrelle and the staff at the Marriott were amazing to work with. Everything was gorgeous and timely. We never had to wonder about anything. They were always available either by phone or email. All of or guests remarked how classy the event was.

Newport News Marriott at City Center created a Wedding Reception that dreams are made of. We have wanted to write a review for several months now, but with my father waiting for a heart transplant and having to stay in the hospital for long periods of time, it has been hard. Although he is still waiting, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to say how amazing it was working with catering (Brianna Booth, Lisa Martello, Alison McPherson, and Georgia Carles) and serving staffs. We had the reception in the Grand Ballroom (Salon I and II) and the room turned out gorgeous. The attention to detail from everyone involved was second to none. The catering staff was with us each step of the way and whenever we had concerns or changes they were very responsive to them. Everyone was so friendly and caring, and the serving staff was on top of everything from making sure everything was in place, to making sure I was able to enjoy all the wonderful food. For the reception we had a brunch that included breakfast and lunch items and two omelet stations that our guests enjoyed so much and the food was delicious. We also opted to stay in the honeymoon suite which was a great decision, we were surprised to find chocolate cover strawberries, champagne, food left over from the reception, and a note from the staff waiting in the room for us. During the process of looking for a reception venue we visited several locations and kept coming back to the Marriott. To this day we don’t regret our choice and this decision was reinforced by our guest still talking about how beautiful everything was. We would proudly recommend Newport News Marriott at City Center to anyone.

I am rating our experience with our group block at the Marriott as 4 stars, only because our guests either didn't want to stay there, or they missed the reservation mark, which was over a month before the wedding. The service from everyone I spoke with was wonderful, and the value was exceptional, especially because they don't charge for rooms that go un-booked. The only thing I didn't like was that the deadline for guests to reserve their room was 30 days, which was before our RSVP date, so there were people who were unable to get the group rate because the deadline was so far out from the actual wedding date. Most people are procrastinators in deciding whether they're able to attend an event, so therefore they book hotels with than 30 days to go, I would think. So while our guests loved the hotel itself, many had to pay higher rates. If I could go back and change anything, I'd have requested an extension of the \"reserve by\" date. Other than that hiccup, it was great experience using the Marriott at City Center for our hotel block.

The catering/wedding coordinator was easy and great to work with. She saw my vision and helped pull it together. Meetings were easy to schedule. The food on the buffet was hot and delicious when it was served, and there was more than enough for guests to get seconds. Each round table sat 10 people comfortably, but I chose to put 8-10 people at each. The Pearl Ballroom and linens they provided were clean and gorgeous. The Marriott also worked very well with my other vendors!

We had a wonderful experience with an off-season wedding at the Newport News Marriott at City Center! The staff were very friendly, well-organized, well-prepared and professional. They definitely know how to do weddings and they have a beautiful place with the Rotunda, ballrooms, and the gorgeous fountain outside. The only detail I didn't like was the ugly carpet which, unfortunately is something you can't just crop out of the pictures, but overall they have an amazing setting for weddings and excellent staff that will make sure your special day is smooth and beautiful

We had a wonderful experience with an off-season wedding at the Newport News Marriott at City Center! The staff were very friendly, well-organized, well-prepared and professional.
