Welcome to your affordable all-inclusive wedding venue at Northern Kentucky University; located just outside Cincinnati, in Highland Heights, KY. The Student Union at NKU is a unique entertainment complex with a variety of banquet rooms for wedding receptions, rehearsals and ceremonies. We can accommodate intimate events but also larger events up to 300 guests for our all-inclusive packages. See our pricing tier attachment for more details. I would 100% recommend NKU as a wedding venue (or any other event). The staff were so helpful, friendly, and accommodating. We checked out so many venus but they met our needs perfectly.Not only did we have BOTH our wedding ceremony and reception at the NKU student union ballroom, but we also had NKU’s wonderful caterer and serving staff provide the food, as well as the wedding cake!The venue itself was perfect. With the ceremony on one side of the ballroom, our guests easily went from the ceremony, to a cocktail hour spot, to the reception. They gave us access to rooms to wait in and lock the wedding party’s possessions in, and cooperated with us for all rehearsal. Also, we had the kenton garage open for our guests which was so wonderfully convenient and was the final selling point (another venue we were considering insisted that everyone our age gets a Lyft anyway so it didn’t matter they only had four spots-but I have a large family, with lots of “Boomer” aunts/uncles that I would rather they just had a parking spot).They answered our questions easily and quickly, especially when I last-minute added a bunch of guests and they assured me they could flip the room for us if necessary. They worked VERY well with our other vendors and our wedding planner. Catering: We had specific requests, due to vegetarians in the family, and having unique requests for the hors d'oeuvres and the flavors for the different layers of the cake. We also requested a specific wine they got just for us (the bride and groom). They did it all and were so happy to do so. We received so many compliments about the food and the staff who were so pleasant and efficient. The cake also, was delicious and we received lots of positive feedback for that as well.Also, people were really impressed with the drinks!My family and friends were surprised because they didn’t know this venue existed and they loved it so much!Definitely would recommend and I’m so happy we chose them, and not just for ceremony and reception, but also catering, bartending, and cake.Thanks so much!Susan (and Ian)

I'm so happy we decided to have our wedding at NKU, Leah and Sara were an amazing team to work with. I will admit - before we booked them I was worried about having our event at a venue that isn't necessarily made or known for weddings but, the communication, thoroughness, and affordability were top notch and I'm so happy we went with them. Leah and Sara showed great flexibility and genuinely just wanted our day to be how we envisioned it, we had so many questions that were all answered very quickly and they were always happy to accommodate our requests. We chose to have our ceremony outside, the grounds were beautiful and well kept and the indoor ballroom where we had our reception was the perfect space as well. As for the catering, our guests loved their meals, the signature drink, and thought the staff were kind and professional. Overall we had such a great experience at NKU and they should definitely be considered in your venue search!

Leah and Sarah were perfect to work with. They were flexible, patient and just overall knew what they were doing! The NKU Ballroom is a perfect location for a wedding/reception. The food was amazing as well as the cake. The staff were kind and courteous. It was an easily accessible location with great amenities. To any brides deciding upon a venue, CHOOSE NKU!! This venue takes the stress out of finding a caterer, a cake, and centerpieces for the tables. It is incredibly affordable for any budget too. I will highly recommend this location to any of my friends getting married soon.

Leah and Sarah were perfect to work with. They were flexible, patient and just overall knew what they were doing! The NKU Ballroom is a perfect location for a wedding/reception. The food was amazing as well as the cake. The staff were kind and courteous. It was an easily accessible location with great amenities. To any brides deciding upon a venue, CHOOSE NKU!! This venue takes the stress out of finding a caterer, a cake, and centerpieces for the tables. It is incredibly affordable for any budget too. I will highly recommend this location to any of my friends getting married soon.

We used Northern Class Catering (Catering at Northern Kentucky University) for our bar and food part of our wedding. Our wedding was at Stone Valley Meadows which was offsite and the catering staff did a fantastic job with everything considering it was an off site event not in the NKU ballroom that the staff is use to. Sara Trauth (Catering Director) and Felix (Catering Chef) and the catering staff were so flexible and professional from the start of the planning of the event until the lights came on after the wedding. Every single guest at our wedding complicated the food and polite/kind catering staff through out the whole night! There is no other catering company I would ever book for anything else I may need other than Northern Class Catering at NKU. They made our special day even more special! We will forever be grateful for them! THANK YOU!

My daughter had her wedding reception here at the NKU Student Union Ballroom. The whole staff were very accommodating and met all our needs. We had the food tasting and they intently listened to all of our requests on table setups and the food. The staff was there to help us in every way in setting up the hall with decorations etc. They took the time and put personalized touches on the hall. The management was very friendly, accommodating and answered all of our questions. The servers smiling, friendly, energetic and were terrific. The chef cooked the chicken, steak and the rest of the food perfectly. All my guests kept saying how great the food was. The food wasdelicious. The hall was nice and spacious and accommodated all our guests. It was kept nice and clean all evening. The bartenders were great too, everyone enjoyed their drinks. They set the hall up so everything was spread out and we weren’t all crowded together. Our guest kept calling us to say how great the food was and how the hall was setup.Thank you!!

This was THE BEST place to have my wedding at! Sara was great and helped me make decisions every step of the way. I was able to get everything I dreamed of. The steak meal was delicious and so tender. The cake was beautiful, moist and flavorful. I had one layer vanilla bean cake with lemon in the middle, the other layer was vanilla bean cake with strawberry in the middle and the last layer was chocolate cake with fudge in the middle. They made my cake there was made everything more convenient. The servers and bartenders were amazing!!! My family keeps raving about the food, location and how much fun they had. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Although the prices are reasonable, NKU does not have a wedding planning staff. All of the staff involved in wedding planning are also involved in scheduling and catering other events on campus, which makes the wedding process very disorganized. A few specific issues we had with our wedding: 1) We were unable to sign a contract with them until 6 months before the wedding, making the planning process very stressful. 2) We paid for an open bar for guests for 4 hours, and they closed the bar after 3 1/2 hours. 3) We had our cake catered by NKU so it would already be at the venue and the top layer was the wrong flavor and we were not given the leftovers. 4) Food was prepared for the original number of guests on the contract, and we were charged for many guests who did not show, but were not offered the leftover food we paid for. The best part about our wedding was that we had the ceremony outdoors on campus and no one from NKU had to intervene.... except the extra fee they charged to use their grass.
