The New Orleans Public Service Inc. - otherwise known as NOPSI - opened the doors of their elegant headquarters in 1927. This nine-story brick building was sited at the corner of Baronne and Union Streets in the Central Business District. With changes of ownership, this facility was declared a historic landmark in 2011, later to reopen as NOPSI Hotel New Orleans. A rooftop pool and lounge area look out over the New Orleans skyline while the Grand Ballroom features a 21-foot-high ceiling, expansive arched windows, and ornamental columns. Everything about the NOPSI on our wedding day was AMAZING!! The staff, the last minute changes and the communication was spectacular. This was a top notch choice and all of the guest complimented the venue and space. THE FOOD!! I consider myself a foodie so was extremely impressed with the food selections. The food was amazing, people are still talking about it. Meghan and her team went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. The powersuite terrace was a great space for pictures and to hang out before the wedding. The getting ready spaces for the groom and bride was also a really nice space and touch. They had EVERYthing we needed. The space is beautiful. The facilities were clean, top notch service and staff. Kevin, who is a super man at the hotel, was extremely helpful to all the guest!

This venue is gorgeous. This location is perfect. The food is hands down amazing. The attendants day of that make sure the couple and parents of the couple are taken care of are so great . We loved our wedding at the NOPSI and couldn’t imagine having our reception anywhere else!While we would book here again because of the above, there are a Few things to be aware of when booking so that you know what you’re getting in to:1. They are disorganized - their offers are often out of date on their website, they write down notes about your price points and day of requests but forget them, and they don’t listen when you tell them to contact your coordinator instead of you because you don’t want to deal with logistics anymore2. They don’t follow up and aren’t consistent - they somehow changed our email address in the system so we never got an invite to the big wedding tasting event because they had written it down wrong (after months of conversing with said email address), they changed the dates of when things were due from the time of signing the contract to the actual event, they also accidentally tried to charge us a higher price for F&B because they didn’t track when we signed the contract (2021). As event coordinators, there are improvements to be had3. They are running a business so there’s always a catch - when you book with them you get a complimentary get ready room. While they never said this before hand, the day of they told us outside food and drinks weren’t allowed (even cappuccinos and pastries which they don’t even offer in house). We had Already ordered outside catering because their catering choices were abismal (literally boxed lunches and $6 bottles of water). This is someone’s wedding day, it should be perfect and if that means they want pastries from a certain place you should let them. Also, don’t say you get complimentary use of a room and then try to put additional conditions on it that are not detailed in writing anywhere. Lastly, after the bridal party left the get ready room and the mothers of the bride and groom were collecting belongings, both mothers said they felt like they were getting kicked out. This is a special day for all family members, it’s important they remember that (esp since some of those family members may be footing the bill).All this to say, no wedding reception venue is going to be perfect. We would book it again, because we loved the experience the day of and the venue is so gorgeous. If you have a wedding planner or coordinator, there shouldn’t be any issue as they will know how to handle a venue. If you don’t, just go into it knowing that you will have to stay on top of them. It might be their job on a day-to-day basis, but I found that half the time I would . have to do their job to keep them on track and make sure all of the i’s were dotted and the t’s were crossed. If the NOPSI could get its ducks in a row a little bit more they would be the top tier wedding venue in the City. As is, they are great but have room for improvement.

The Nopsi was by far the best place to host a wedding! We loved having all our guest have the opportunity to stay close to where the wedding was held. Communication with the staff - both Jennifer and Alisha was some of the best customer service ever experienced! The food was delish and a whole experience in itself. The rooms were perfect for guest to take a break from the party if needed, but the main ballroom was just stunning and perfect for our big day! Can’t say enough good things about the The NOPSI!!

BEST RECEPTION EVER! Literally had multiple guests tell us it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The NOPSI is a beautiful venue, a swanky and luxurious hotel in NOLA, and their staff is second to none! After having to reschedule our wedding 3 times due to COVID and Hurricane Ida, Alisha and Jennifer at the NOPSI made it easy to get us finally married. They threw us the biggest party and made us feel like rockstars our entire stay. Would give a 10/5 stars if I could. Highly recommend!

We hired the NOPSI for our November 2021 wedding reception and hotel for guests, as we were a destination wedding. Pros: Beautiful venueDelicious foodAmazing staff- including front desk, wait staff, doormen/bellmen- really the service was top notch and what made everyone have such a great experienceGood locationGood value and availability for hotel blockUpgrade for parents of bride and groom Suite available for the wedding nightThey were able to keep the bar open for us in the restaurant for an after party, so we didn't have to leave and come back Historic but modern, beautiful, cleanOutdoor space for cocktail hour, pool/deck usage for guests during stayQuick turn around and response timeYou can bring in your own vendors, but they will recommend whatever you needFlexibility in seating arrangements and dance floor/stageCons: No discount to book the suite nights leading up to the weddingBack and forth on pricing- including after the wedding when the accountant miscalculated some itemsSome requested items were missing in the groom’s ready room the day of the weddingNo flexibility in our tasting date so we had to fly down- but it was amazing- chef is very talented! The bar area was set up in the wrong location for our cocktail hour. Last minute, the bar was moved, but only after our wedding planner intervened on our behalf. Hors d'oeuvres are priced per pieceThere was a fluctuation in staffing, as the wedding coordinator was furloughed when we looked at the venue, and our contract was drafted. This led to some initial confusion, but once we got on track ad worked out some of the kinks with Jennifer, things went pretty smoothly.

Beware: if you are working with Nicole, run the other direction. We worked with her for 4 weeks and experienced the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with. She was unresponsive and could never answer any of our questions. She had to rely on other people getting back to her, in order to get back to us. The most unprofessional interaction from anyone. We proposed telephone calls multiple times which she never agreed to. Email correspondence was broken and our questions were never fully answered. It was a constant run around! Not what you want when trying to plan a wedding where communication is key. I wouldn't have signed a contract if we even got to that point. Do yourself a favor and move on to your next option.

If your wedding day is important to you, and I am sure it is, then the NOPSI HOTEL is everything you deserve to make your wedding “over the top” fabulous.Ask for Lauren Langenstine for all of your wedding reception questions from tastings, ballroom tour, and general questions. Lauren is accommodating, courteous and exceptionally capable of assuring your wedding reception dreams will come true. The valet team, bell men team, as well as the Chef, bar tenders and wait staff will give you the most Royal Treatment in all of New Orleans.You will fall in love the minute you lay eyes on the Chandeliers in the Dryades Ballroom.
