Norlyn Manor Reviews
Monica Keller(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-10-2022 We booked Norlyn Manor on a short notice, they did everything they possibly could to make our day amazing! The owner and staff members are more than welcoming and accommodating. The food was excellent, all our requests were met with no questions asked and did not see one unhappy staff member from the day we toured through the day of our wedding. That really says a lot about a company! We will absolutely be keeping Norlyn Manor in mind for future events! Reviewed on 21-10-2022
Elaine Williams(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2022 We had our ceremony and reception here and everything went very well! They did complete set up and tear down of everything, which was a huge stress relief. Having a bridal suite and grooms room was a huge bonus and made coordinating everyone so much easier. Would definitely recommend! Reviewed on 10-06-2022

It is a family owned and operated business, and it shows! The team is attentive to any questions, concerns or suggestions. They were available to us every step of the planning process, as well as present the night of our wedding! They will set up and take down any decor you wish to use, and have it packed up for you. Emily Weyer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2019 My husband and I had our wedding reception here and we could go on and on about how amazing everyone at Norlyn Manor was! The first time we walked in there everyone was so friendly and we ended up booking them right away. They stayed in contact with us throughout the wedding planning process and were prompt on answering all of our questions or whenever we reached out to them. They also make their own food there so you don't need to worry about finding a caterer and their food is awesome! We had a very large wedding (about 350 guests) and Norlyn Manor fit everyone perfectly. We were able to come to Norlyn Manor the day before the wedding and tell them exactly how we wanted everything set up. They set everything up for you and take everything down for you at the end of the night which is a HUGE plus! When my husband and I walked into our reception on the wedding day we were blown away! They set everything up exactly how we wanted and it looked amazing! Many of the guests were telling us how beautiful the place was! We were very very happy we chose to have our reception at Norlyn Manor and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reception venue! Reviewed on 17-10-2019

Aimee Forsee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2018 We had a beautiful wedding and planning experience at Norlyn Manor! The staff we worked with leading up to the wedding was very professional and accommodating to all of my \"pinterest\" requests :) The venue was gorgeous, clean, and a great location for most of our guests. The food and drink service was excellent, and at a reasonable price. I loved that it was a family run business; that made it easy to get a hold of someone with any questions or inquiries. And I greatly appreciated that they did all of the set up and clean up...Big Bonus! The only downside was that we did not have access to the venue until an hour and half before the ceremony, but we wanted to arrive sooner. Which we were able to do, but had to pay extra :/ Other than that, the venue and service was wonderful and I would definitely refer other brides on the East side to Norlyn. Ask for Lynne :) Reviewed on 28-12-2018
Jenny Bartz(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-11-2018 Norlyn Manor was the absolute perfect location for our wedding ceremony and reception. All communication leading up to our big day was done with ease through timely responses via email, phone calls or in person meetings. They easily made accommodations for every request I had and I loved how laid back they were about everything. The pricing was affordable and the venue is very elegant and beautiful. All services and food provided were above any expectations or standards we had. I would recommend Norlyn Manor to anyone not only for a wedding but any other event they are planning as well. Ella Bemnet(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-09-2018 This venue was recommended to me by a friend from high school. She raved about the good food, great communication beforehand, and attention to detail. I'm not a totally picky person, but I can get pretty anxious about wanting to control everything and \"run the show.\" From the beginning, Joe and the event center staff were very communicative in the process of quotes, contracts, and booking. We were able to have a wonderful wedding at a completely reasonable price, which is nearly impossible in the area. All-inclusive is the way to go! Did not have to worry about a thing. The only extras we had to pay for were cake, photographer, flowers, dj, and smaller things that we wanted like guestbook. The day-of wedding staff was AMAZING. I do not give compliments lightly. I grew up in theatre and they were like the most perfect stage managers any cast or director could ask for. I did not have to worry about a THING. Even the things that I forgot, I just asked if they could do (like I decided not to change for my send-off because I was having too much fun), and they did it with the most efficiency and grace. I cannot say enough good things about them for day-of coordination. Planning a wedding was still stressful (obviously), but there were so few things I had to worry about before because of their comprehensive bridal packet. During, I literally felt like my most trusted companions were taking care of everything with the same care I would give. The food was incredible. Guests were raving about the food and drinks. We requested steak and different sides, and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals of my life. Then, they packed up the leftovers for us and we got to enjoy them all over again the next day! They have weddings down to a formula without everyone feeling like they followed a formula. Our wedding felt unique and our own. We're very grateful to the owner and staff. Reviewed on 26-10-2018
Savanna Vaughn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2018 I cannot rave enough about the Norlyn Manor! My husband and I got married a few weeks ago and and our reception was at the Norlyn Manor. Everything about this place is absolutely beautiful and perfect! When my husband and I toured Norlyn Manor we were blown away. Every other venue we toured just didn't measure up to the incredible feeling we got from Bob and his staff. Their attention to detail is top-notch! The communication was excellent and thorough. I explained to Lynne exactly what I wanted and they delivered. They are attentive, patient, organized, and know how to throw a party! My husband and I, our parents, and all of our guests were treated like royalty the entire night. Of all the weddings and events they have there, I felt as though they treated our wedding as their top priority. They CARE, and they want your night to be special! I would re-live our wedding over again 1,000 times! Norlyn Manor definitely earned a special place in our hearts. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of us! Reviewed on 26-10-2018

Our expectations were high from the beginning and the entire staff delivered a fantastic experience. Joe was the absolute best coordinator, he went above and beyond for us and was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Dan Akshita(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-12-2019 My wife and I hosted our daughter’s wedding at Norlyn Manor in January 2018. We can not adequately convey how happy we were to select this facility to hold the wedding ceremony and reception. Joe and his staff are truly committed to insuring the day is a perfect as possible. As this was the first wedding we ever hosted, Joe did an excellent job in guiding through the planning process. He was patient with any question we had and really wanted to make sure that our daughter’s requests were met. Joe’s experience in this role really showed when he offered suggestions to make the day even more perfect. The professionalism of the entire staff was evident in the way they offered the food tasting, the details listed on the planning sheets, the dress of the staff the evening of the event, the quality of the food served (both during the cocktail hour and dinner), and the cleanliness of the entire facility. It was top notch all of the way. While we did have a contract that outlined the expected services, Joe and the staff went well beyond the contractual obligations. When it came time for our daughter to leave her room to go to the ceremony space, Joe personally led her through a back path in the facility to insure none of the guests (or groom) had a sneak peek at the bride-to-be. Also, while we were getting family pictures after the ceremony, the serving staff provided hand served hors d'oeuvres to our families in the ceremony room. This was all quite unexpected…but wonderful! The kitchen and wait staff did an excellent job in preparing and serving 170 meals that were just as tasty and fresh as the food provided during our food tasting meeting. Norlyn Manor is a very special place to hold a wedding. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a 5-star facility and staff in the Dayton-Cincinnati region schedule a meeting with Joe to see what they can do for you! Reviewed on 25-10-2018

Julia Dunlap(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-03-2015 We had our wedding at Norlyn Manor on 3.7.2015. We very much enjoyed our wedding day and feel it was \"perfect\" in our eyes. The reasons I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 stars are the following: throughout the planning process, up until the night before the wedding at the rehearsal, we struggled to ensure that all the details were in order because every time we would communicate with someone at the venue it was a different person so a lot of small details were lost in translation and it took my mother (bless her heart!) having a moment at the rehearsal to ensure that the venue would be set up the way we requested and paid for (and were promised). The biggest issue we suffered with Norlyn Manor was when we showed up for the rehearsal all of our decorations and rented items were set up in the wrong room, the room that would hold the reception had not even been touched with our decorations, and only one person was there to begin the process of moving all the chairs, equipment, decorations, center pieces, chair covers, etc to the correct room and we were told it couldn't all be completed that night and they would finish setting everything up the morning of my wedding. With that being said, everything ended up being set up perfectly come 5:30 pm on the day of the wedding, however, I spent a good 2 hours of my purchased 4 hours of bridal suite time running around the venue making sure everything was set up the way I wanted it and I felt like I lost precious time that I could have been spending relaxing with my bridal party and making memories. Again, we truly enjoyed ourselves at our wedding and would recommend Norlyn Manor because there were so many GOOD things! The food is AMAZING! Lynn is very accommodating in regards to special requests from the bride and groom. The venue offers a place for a ceremony and a reception (the most important thing for us!). The venetian room is a perfect size for a reception of about 150 people, any more than that and it will be a little crowded, even though they advertise that more would fit in that room. A few last minute things to note: you have to pay for a rehearsal time outside of regular business hours (we had ours on Friday night at 6pm since it was out of town and most wouldn't have been able to be there during regular business hours, Norlyn Manor \"closes\" at 5pm), most of the bridal packages include 1 hour in the bridal suite prior to a ceremony, if you plan to have your hair and makeup done on site you'll have to pay for additional time (we booked an additional 4 hours in the bridal suite and it ended up working out perfect, other than I spent a lot of time running around making sure everything was set up correctly, and I had hair and makeup artists come to the bridal suite, I LOVED THAT!) Thank you Norlyn Manor for providing a beautiful venue for the wedding of my dreams! My guests are still talking about how much fun they had, how beautiful it was, and that it was \"the best wedding they had ever been to\"! XOXO Reviewed on 03-06-2015

We had our wedding outside at the gazebo, and even the weather was perfect. We went with most of the vendors that they recommended and those people were wonderful as well. When they told me that they were trying to make it a stress free day for me they were not kidding. The room captain or maître d was wonderful and made sure everything was exactly as we had talked about. The owner was extremely helpful in bringing drinks and snacks to the bridal suite for us while we were getting ready to helping us mend a broken zipper at the last minute. Andrea Maynarich(parent)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-06-2010 As the mother of the groom, I am writing a review to make potential brides aware of the unsatisfactory service we all received at Norlyn Manor this past August.\r\rThe first issue arose the week of the wedding. Upon our first meeting with the owner last year, we remembered being told that the “bridal suite” would be available on Saturday at four o’clock in the afternoon. However, when the bride spoke to the owner the week prior to the wedding, she informed her that the time was 4:30, not 4. This was a concern for us since the photographers said they needed more than an hour for pictures. With that, I contacted the owner on Wednesday, August 1st and we discussed this situation. She told me that there was a noon wedding and that they would be out by 4. We discussed my concerns relative to taking photos at the Manor when another wedding was in progress, and that we really would like the “bridal suite” by 4. The owner, Lynn, told me that taking photos during the afternoon event was not a problem; but we could not have the bridal suite until 4:30….maybe 4:15. I also expressed to her my concern regarding her staff having sufficient time to turn around the facility for us, but she assured me that this would not be a problem. Let me list for you what we encountered as we arrived at 5:15:\r\r1.\tA parking lot full of loitering people\r2.\tAt least 15-20 people hanging around the front door, smoking and drinking\r3.\tAt least another 10-12 people in the lobby, sitting around drinking\r4.\tMen in the parking lot with their shirts off wrestling/fighting\r5.\tBeer bottles and trash in the lobby\r6.\tBathrooms with beer bottles and trash everywhere\r7.\tWomen in the “bridal suite” along with purses and other personal effects\r8. Men in the area that the groom was told he could use before the ceremony \r \rThe first of our guests arrived at 5:20, 40 minutes before our ceremony was to begin, so they, too, got to take in the sights. Some of our guests actually helped me clean the lobby as I asked some of the strangers to step aside so our guests could come in and be seated. The afternoon guests did not completely clear out until 5:45—15 minutes before our ceremony.\r\rIt was shocking enough for the bide and groom to arrive to find this mess. Can you imagine if we had arrived at 4:30 for pictures to find this situation? Unbelievable. \r\rThe food was another issue. The groom requested the roast beef be rare and when we asked for such meat, the carver informed him that there was no rare meat. The meat was over cooked, the vegetables were mushy and tasteless.\r\rThe owner of the venue has yet to respond to my letter regarding these issues and when she did respond to the bride, her response was flippant and told her that \"she can't help people who think the world revolves around them.\" Reviewed on 15-09-2012
J H(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2012 My husband and I were recently married and held our reception at the Norlyn Manor. We had a wonderful evening from beginning to end. The service and food were exceptional. The venue was beautiful and the staff were extremely courteous and professional. The only comment I would have is that it would be nice to have a reduced rate for children under 12. I would also love to see a little more landscaping outside the building for pictures. The inside is lovely and so is the entrance and gazebo. We were concerned ahead of time because another wedding was going on at the same time in the room next door. We thought the sound would come into our room. However, this was not a problem at all. We couldn't hear them at all. Thank you, Norlyn Manor, for doing a wonderful job and making our wedding reception a memorable experience. Reviewed on 19-07-2012
R Brewer(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-03-2012 We were married here on 3-30-12. The service was top notch. We loved working with the staff. The food was delicious, and the staff was very professional. I recommend them. I wish they would have. Called us to follow up. I think so pics from the photo booth and a couple other small things were left behind, and I assumed they would call us to fetch or mail them. All in all I recommend. Don't overpay for guest be sure you know the count. We had about 12-15 that couldnt attend last minute, and you don't get your money back. Not even the unused bar money. I understand they cook for the number you anticipate, but to charge for the alcohol that the guests that didn't show up didn't drink. Come on now. Reviewed on 29-04-2012
Kelly Herbolt(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2011 While I admit, my wedding was beautiful and in the end turned out perfect; it was not because of the owners or staff at Norlyn Manor. The issue is that there are too many people doing the same job. One person tells you one thing and someone else tells you the exact opposite as the previous person. They act as though it is your privilege to use their venue. \rWhen I first visited Norlyn Manor, I told her I was looking to have both the wedding and reception in one location for approximately 200 people. She assured me that the Venetian Room would hold 200 for the ceremony and the Verona room would hold 220 comfortably, 250 if necessary. However, when I called to discuss the ceremony details, suddenly the Venetian Room only has occupancy for 150. To rectify the issue, she acted like she was doing me a favor by allowing us to use the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony instead. To make matters worse, the day of the wedding, I was told that the Verona Room could not the seat the 216 people on my guest list, after being told it would easily hold 220. I felt like she was completely dishonest and told me anything she could, so I would rent the venue. \rThe food served at the wedding was very good, especially the cheese whipped potatoes, and the servers were very friendly. However, the food served at the tasting was cold, greasy and unappetizing. They did not make selecting the food to serve at our wedding a pleasant or easy decision. \rThe bridal room was spacious and comfortable. But it does not come without a price, $100 per hour if you want to use it more than 1-1/2 hours before the wedding. We could take pictures in the building but we could not get ready there. Our wedding was the only event in the venue the day and we still could not use it earlier. \rNorlyn Manor is a beautiful event center with balconies, chandeliers and a gazebo. Overall, the end product was spectacular. My advice would be to get EVERYTHING in writing and DO NOT pay for a single person over the minimum to reserve the room until you turn in your final numbers, two weeks before the wedding. If you make changes to your contact, get a copy. Reviewed on 04-01-2012
Debbie Rettig(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-10-2011 We absolutely loved the Norlyn Manor. The venue is beautiful. We had our wedding outside at the Gazebo and it was great that we had the option to go inside if the weather was bad (thankfully we had great weather!). The staff was very helpful and set everything up exactly as we wanted it. I do wish we were able to get into the building the night of our rehearsal (we had some older grandparents and parents that had to drive down the street to use the restroom!) but everything else was great. We got a lot of compliments on the food and it is a good value compared to some of the other places we looked at. The setting is beautiful and the pictures at the gazebo look beautiful as well. Also very friendly and helpful staff. Everything was just perfect! Reviewed on 14-11-2011
Sarah Sulick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2011 Norlyn Manor was a great place for my reception. I used the Verona room and it looked elegant and beautiful the night of my wedding. Everything was exactly as I had imagined. The food was much better the day of then when I tried it at the taste testing. The only downfall was the maitre'd was nowhere to be found when I needed a chair for the garter and to find my bouquet for the bouqet toss. Also, we paid a lot in gratuity when booking the place and bartenders still had jars out for tips. Overall, the venue was great though. Reviewed on 09-11-2011

Rana Begley(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-02-2011 Norlyn Manor is a very classy building. The food was good. It is said that is is gourmet, Im not sure about that, but it is good to eat. The benefit to having a reception here, is that it is about the only large classy venue located in this area. Also there is no clean up,no stress worries, and lots of room. If you want varying times or her to work with you it is not going to happen. The owner treats you like it is YOUR privlidge to have your reception or wedding there, and not as a paying customer. She has the attitude like shes paying you. She seems as though she could care less if she has your business. It is a nice place, and you will get great pictures. Dont expect anything with out paying big for it. I would recomend not giving her the exact number of people. You have to pay in advance and if they dont all show, your are out that money. She wants her money, but does not go out of her way to make you happy. The staff members on the other hand are very pleasant, and make you feel wonderful. I think it is a little expensive for what you get. Reviewed on 16-03-2011
Rhonda Edwards(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-10-2010 I went to a wedding here a few years ago and knew right away when I got married I wanted it to be here. Every thing was great except for a few problems with the bar. I had paid for 4 hours of beer and wine so I thought that would be all that would be offered. I'm totally against cash bars, so if I wanted liquor to served I would've paid for it. However, the venue had a sign up with prices for mixed drinks. I was taken back by this as I wasn't even asked if I wanted this to be served. I shut it down immediatley after I noticed it. Also, I was also upset that the bartenders had a tip jar sitting on the bar when I was charged 18% gratudity even on the sales tax. To me that's tacky and double dipping. I asked them to take the jar down when I asked them to stop selling liquor and not ten minutes later I looked and it was still sitting up there. I had to find management to get it taken down. Not what I wanted to spend my reception doing. I was also told that my guests would be allowed to go up for seconds if I opted for the buffet instead of a seated dinner only to have guests complain that the doors were closed immediatley after the last table went through and they didn't get the chance for seconds. Between my type A parents and my crazy self, we were constantly calling and emailing Lynn at Norlyn Manor. She was always helpful, patient, & enthusiastic. They did their best to accomodate our every wish. \rWe had a cocktail hour with hors de ouerves and an open bar followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing. The venue was the perfect balance between elegance and comfort. We had guests from all different walks of life, and everyone felt comfortable at our wedding and had a great time. \rThe facility is beautiful and the food was delicious! In fact, we had people tell us that the filet at our wedding was the best filet they have ever had -- at a wedding or otherwise! \rNot being downtown, there was plenty of parking. The building was impecably clean, very bright, spacious, and open. One of the reasons we picked it at first was that all the rooms have windows and plenty of natural light! My husband and I both felt like we were at home...only it was bigger and our families didn't have to do the cooking!\rI would recommend this place without any hesitation. Reviewed on 27-08-2010
