~Stunning and versatile ballroom, amazing food, unbeatable service, and rave reviews~ Northern Lights Ballroom & Banquet Center is a family owned venue located in Milaca, MN, which can host both ceremonies and receptions. Northern Lights offers four beautiful spaces to choose from with seating from 40 up to 400 guests. Our ballroom is timeless, featuring a dropped tray vaulted ceiling, and eight gorgeous chandeliers that shimmer off the ceiling, it is a must see! Great location, yet set back for a privacy and a welcoming atmosphere. We provide full service on-site and off-site catering and bar service. Our room rental includes set up, clean up, tables, chairs, your choice of white/ivory/black table linens, dinnerware, central sound system, staff, and an event coordinator. From there all you need to choose are your food and beverage options. *Now offering 1/2 off room rental November 2023 through March 2024 or November 2024 through March 2025!*

We got married during the pandemic and didn't have a reception. We celebrated our two year anniversary at Northern Lights Ballroom and were VERY pleased with the service. Throughout the year they were helpful with any questions we had and were very quick with responding. We only had a third of our guest list show up. The owners honored our down payment by upgrading us to their \"Platinum Experience\". They were helpful in finding vendors we needed. They even let us come in a day early to decorate. We chose Northern Lights Ballroom because they are a family owned and operated business, and they treated us like family!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience from day one! I went in there right away telling them about what disappointments I had when touring and speaking with other establishments and how poor they were with their communication and return calls and emails and Northern Lights was the complete opposite. Every time I asked her something she was back with the answer in an email that day or the next day. She always had the information I wanted and valuable information she thought I might want. Their professionalism was excellent and they were very kind, patient and polite with me. One thing that meant a lot to me was when I initially signed I mentioned that wedding planning was not something I was not real excited about doing because both my parents were deceased and I didn't really want a big wedding but my fiancée wanted it so I was going along with it for him. She told me she would help make it fun and she did help a lot and was very sensitive to that along the way which meant so much. They are very detail oriented in the planning and keep checking on items that need to be done without hounding you. The venue is beautiful and well kept for a reasonable price. The food was excellent. We received rave reviews. Our guests told us it was some of the best wedding food they have ever had. Especially the roast beef which is usually dry!The day of wedding planner was very helpful and receptive to our needs. She was very easy to find if we needed her which was very little. She was usually looking for us to ask if we were ok or needed anything. The servers and barstaff were friendly and polite. I have not one complaint about this place. We both said that. Not that we were looking for one but we couldn't find one in the overall experience. Topnotch!

Loved working with this venue and their employees. They made our Wedding Day run smoothly along with all the questions and meetings leading up to Our Wedding Day. Very accommodating to our needs and wants. We were able to have them do our food, cake, rent centerpieces and other items from them, plus they had a decorator we could hire (very inexpensive) and clean up was quick and easy. Very beautiful venue and the food was excellent. Lots of great feedback from our guests on all of it.

We just had our wedding reception there last weekend and the food and the service were outstanding, from the kitchen staff to the bartender, to the on-site coordinator. The staff was very professional and kept us in the loop on everything. When planning our event the owners were on top of it and were prompt in their communications with us and answered any questions we had ahead of time and allowed us to make last minute changes. Very nice venue, I would highly recommend!

We LOVED having our wedding at Northern Lights! They were prompt to answer questions and were so helpful in the planning process. During set up they were very flexible as we changed things around and made set up a breeze! And the food- our wedding was a month ago and people are still raving about the food! Our rehersal dinner went exactly as planned. The food, beverages, decorations, and table arrangements were exactly what we had asked for. The food was very good along with the very polite servers. The location was perfect for our guests. There were no hidden costs or fee's that we did not discuss, everying was professionally spelled out on a contract.

Words cannot do justice for how blown away and how incredibly grateful we are that we had our wedding at Northern Lights!! Wow! It’s hard to even know where to begin! Bryony, Wendy, and all of the Northern Lights team including the event coordinators, chefs, servers, and bartenders are absolutely WONDERFUL to work with!!! Everyone was so nice, caring, and helpful throughout the entire process from booking the venue through the day of our wedding! If you book your wedding at Northern Lights, you are truly supporting such an amazing group of people!! We had so many guests compliment on how incredibly nice everyone was as well!! The venue is absolutely GORGEOUS and spacious, the food is INCREDIBLE (and I mean incredible!!), parking is plentiful, and the venue is so easy to find and see right off Hwy. 169! We have received SO many compliments from our family and friends about the venue and the amazing food!! We had the Italian buffet the night before our wedding, and the Royal Buffet (with carved roast beef and white wine chicken as the main courses) and full dessert bar at our wedding reception, and it was all SO delicious!! We had several guests tell us it was one of the best meals they’ve ever had in their life, and we totally agree!! On top of all that, their prices are incredibly reasonable (especially for the level of service that they provide)! If you are looking for an amazing venue in central Minnesota, please check out Northern Lights! We truly cannot say thank you enough to the Northern Lights team for everything and we are just SO happy that we shared our special day with our friends and family at this truly wonderful venue!!

Northern lights was amazing! They provided amazing service and went above and beyond to make sure my guests and I were taken care of. The food is to die for and people are still talking about it. We did Ham, Roast Beef, Cheesy Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and the Tequila Berry Salad and it was all PERFECT. I’d recommend them to anybody!!! So glad we went through them for our wedding!

The Ballroom itself was very bright,open,and beautiful, It also had a lot of extra space inside as well as outside that was just as beautiful. This venue is amazing! Such a beautiful ambiance, they always have it decorated beautifully so you can add to it or if you want your own look they’ll move anything you’d like moved! The food is phenomenal, if they had a restaurant I could order from I’d drive there just for that! They are super easy to coordinate with for your big day and Maggie was our day of coordinator and she was so fantastic to work with! I wouldn’t choose anywhere else!

Bryony was awesome but the whole staff was amazing in making sure everything went perfect. We had our ceremony and reception there and it is set up perfect for that. The dinner is prepared on site and I can't tell you how many compliments we had on how good it was. I would highly recommend Northern Lights for your wedding or any occasion!

Amazing experience! The venue is beautiful and so nice to have the food and banquet hall under the same ownership. The staff all was amazing (from the owners all the way to the waitstaff and bartenders)! The process to hire the venue and then leading up to the wedding was so smooth and the staff is very responsive! We had a Buffett and I have seriously not had better roast beef in my life! We are so happy we picked this venue and it was actually the most reasonably priced compared to the others we looked at so that was an added bonus!

Northern lights took special care of the details of our wedding and took all of the stress from us. They had the venue set beautifully for us before we arrived the day of the event, and were available whenever we needed anything.After our ceremony they quickly changed the dining room from the ceremony seating to a gorgeous dining table set in excellent time for us and our guests to finish our social hour. Our dinner and cake was delightful and the overhead music they put on was perfect to set a casual mood over the group. Helpful, professional, patient in answering questions, very timely in responding to emails. Food was great. We had the royal buffet with cake in 4 flavors as 1 of our sides. They stress the fact that the cake is unlimited so i thought they would just keep bringing it out until people stopped taking it. However a lot of people didn't get cake including myself and my entire head table. My mother in law said the cake wasn't out for very long either, but I was so busy I just don't know for sure. All that being said, I probably would have chosen a different side and paid for cake separately so everyone would have gotten a piece. I can't stress enough how awesome everything else was though and because of how well they treated us I still say 5 stars. They do a great job and I would highly recommend them. All the vendors they recommend are top notch. I used the DJ and decorator they recommended and both were fabulous. You get a real sense of the quality they require here which to me is important. They did some other really nice things for us that may not be possible in every situation such as: we got to set up and decorate the night before which was super helpful -- if they have another event that won't be possible so you can't expect it. We originally booked for sept 8 but had a family issue so we asked to switch the date to Sept 1 and even though they already turned someone else down for the 8th they were still willing and able to accommodate us which I'm so grateful for. We did have another wedding going on next door and it was no problem at all. If I had to get married all over again I would go this route. Everyone loved the food. We did ribs and roast beef. I highly recommend doing an all inclusive package. It wasn't actually that expensive and everyone was well taken care of. The ballroom was beautiful and best of all we didn't have to clean up. Genny Reynolds decorated for us as well and we were super happy with her.

First off, I would like to say that I had incredibly high expectations going into our wedding day... I work in the industry and I have overseen the execution of thousands of weddings throughout my career... Northern Lights Ballroom, blew me away, and I did not feel as if I was \"working\" my own wedding (which says a lot because I notice all of the little details)... We knew we were in good hands at the start of the planning process, and that really paved the way for our wedding day... We ended up coming short on our guest count which we were locked into in order to book the entire ballroom... So Bryony (our sales manager) spoke to the chef, and they provided late night pizza for us and upgraded food items on our dinner buffet at no cost to us... They didn't have to do that since we were contractually obligated to pay for all of the guests, but they wanted us to get value for our dollars spent... That set the tone for our actually day, and we felt appreciated and taken care of... The food was absolutely amazing!!!!! I received so many compliments on the food, and even 3 weeks after the wedding, I'm still receiving feedback that would make any caterer blush... I wasn't expecting the \"world\" with food quality... I knew going in that we were having a buffet, and that buffet food is what it is... But the food we had was absolutely amazing!!! The entire night was a huge success, the team at Northern Lights really knows their stuff, and made my wife and I's reception one to remember for the rest of our lives!!!

I received so many compliments on the food, and even 3 weeks after the wedding, I'm still receiving feedback that would make any caterer blush... I wasn't expecting the \"world\" with food quality... I knew going in that we were having a buffet, and that buffet food is what it is... But the food we had was absolutely amazing!!! The entire night was a huge success, the team at Northern Lights really knows their stuff, and made my wife and I's reception one to remember for the rest of our lives!!!

My wife and I planned a short time frame wedding and Northern Lights Ballroom was able to facilitate my wedding ceremony, my dinner, my wedding photos, EVERYTHING! The staff was amazing and catered to our every whim. They have multiple ballrooms to facilitate any size wedding. The catering was amazing. We had the chicken and pork loin and it was phenomenal. I couldnt have asked for a more beautiful setting for my wedding and I am thankful to have found them! Thank you, Northern Lights Ballroom!

We had our wedding reception here at the end of July in 2013. Over all the service was very good. All of the employees acted in a very professional manner from the first meeting that we had to the end of the reception. We were assigned an employee to be in charge the night of our celebration, Shannon was her name. She made sure the whole night went smoothly and did a very good job while all the time being very professional. \rWe rented out the whole ballroom and we had about 250 guests in attendance. With this amount of people the room was full but comfortable. We also were able to design the layout of the ballroom. The day before the wedding we changed out minds and asked if we could have the room arranged different from what was originally planned. Shannon assured us that it wasn't a problem and that everything would be taken care of.\rAs far as the meal we decided to go with a bundle which offered an three appetizers, a main course with three sides and dinner rolls and salad, cake, and a late night snack. The meal at the reception was better than the one that we had during our taste test.\rOverall the reception hall was a good choice. They are reasonably priced, have very appetizing food, and are very professional in how they conduct themselves. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reception hall in central Minnesota.

Do to limited option is our area I went with Northern Lights. The building is nice and it is in a good location. The food was good. I wasn't impressed with our coordinator. Stuff that was supposed to be set up on wedding morning wasn't. It is def their way only! I didn't appreciate the passive aggressive emails filled with smiley face emoticons. They were very unprofessional. I wish I would have shopped around more!

I had my September wedding reception at this venue!! It was AMAZING!! There was plenty of space in the ballroom for the guests to walk around and socialize throughout cocktail hour and dinner, because of the placement of food and tables! The head table was visible to all. The ballroom itself, is beautiful!! And the whole place can be a dance floor!! They place signs on tables that will be moved for the dance. The workers were so kind and accommodating!! I would recommend this place every time!

Northern Lights Ballroom and Banquet Center was a great spot for us to host our wedding reception. The ballroom was perfect for our 300 plus guest list, and the price per plate was very reasonable - or as reasonable as feeding 300 plus people can be. :0) We chose a pasta buffet and it all tasted very good.\r\rThe service was also exceptional. In planning the event, they were willing to work with us on any special requests we had and in many cases, the staff went above and beyond to make it a great and worry free night.\r\rIn addition to all of this, the building is easy to get to and there is plenty of parking!

Northern Lights was wonderful to work with. Our other wedding venue kicked us out becauase Army decided they wanted to use the hall that day and Northern Lights welcomed us in with open arms. We got a free meal just for coming and looking at the place. The food was delicious! We even got to taste different wines for free. Our guests just had a blast. The ballroom is so beautiful, yet simple. The decor in there will work with any wedding colors. The service over all was top notch.

I was having trouble finding a venue with flexible entertainment options, food options and at a reasonable price. The Northerlights fit all my expectations! The site is gorgeous inside, especially the ballrooms, the staff are personable, the food is excellent (a review that I heard numerous times from my guests) and it is all resonable prices. I definitely encourage brides to go look at the venue!

The overall look of the place it was wide and open with gorgeous chandeliers and a ceiling that glittered. It had neutral colors so it was easy to decorate the way I wanted and it was just perfect for my fairytale wedding.;There are no places to really take pictures outside and the parking lot is gravel.

Meet the Northern Lights Ballroom & Catering Team
Bryony Stark or Wendy Fraser (Manager) Wendy and Bryony are a mother/ daughter team, they started off site catering 7 years prior to opening Northern Lights. Their customers kept requesting that they open their own facility, so they took 3 years to create a business plan and opened Northern Lights Ballroom in June 2007. They both truly love what they do and look forward to each and every event!
