Oceanbleu Reviews
G M(other)2 out of 5 Rating
Given the sheer beauty of this property and its direct location on the beach, I very much wanted to leave a glowing review. Westhampton Beach holds a special place in my heart as I grew up there as a child and have many fond memories at the old Bath & Tennis club. That said, the overall SEVERE lack of coordination among the two different businesses that now jointly manage the special events venue does not leave customers with a seamless experience, and in turn created significant stress throughout my wedding process (even with a wedding planner in place). My key source of frustration was their events manager- Riley. Her consistent lack of responsiveness and accountability for her missteps was incredibly difficult to deal with. When I first started booking my vendors, their own negative feedback on their past experiences with Riley specifically was my first red flag. Key details were not communicated on her end, including informing us upon booking that 95% of the hotel was already booked solid the night of our wedding (a huge deal given the closest hotel is 20min away in Riverhead), which ties back into my point above re the two sides (hotel and catering) not working closely together in creating a seamless experience for their clients. The hotel sits on a nice span of sand (their key selling point), but Riley also forgot to mention until 6 wks before our wedding that it is the customers job to create a boardwalk/floor to the water once Oceanbleu’s ends (her exact response was “well I didn’t think of it as our brides like to take their shoes off and walk barefoot in the sand”—essentially telling me how my own experience should be)—two weeks before my wedding, as we were already scrambling to sort this out, she remembered to mention a vendor that builds beach floors for them. Many details that needed to be ironed out months in advance became a fire drill as my wedding planner struggled to get a timely response from Riley (at times it took weeks to hear back). On multiple occasions we had to pull Riley’s manager into the mix just to get a response so that we could progress w/ our own planning process. The food and venue location are excellent—but the headache that we endured coordinating with this team offset all of those aspects. The reviews online were already not great on Riley, so I had a sense we were walking into a less than perfect scenario, but the experience was far worse than I could have imagined. I do put this on mgmt as they were made aware of my own experience in detail multiple times, had to step up and help correct some of the errors and should be paying closer attention to their clients feedback—if they were, Riley would not have a job. Michele McDonough(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-07-2022 Oceanbleu checked all the boxes in our search for a wedding venue. A beautiful setting, reputable caterer and ballroom capacity of 200+. Since they are a seasonal venue, patience is needed in contacting them off season. It took us a few calls and emails to get a response about a tour date. Once you make contact, tour the place and meet the staff, any frustration evaporates. Each person we dealt with at Oceanbleu was professional, courteous and informative. And THAT VIEW! It cannot be beat. Riley Nichols, brought our event to fruition and was amazing to work with. She took over just two months before our date. We had spent the prior 15 months meeting, emailing and collaborating with her predecessor William (who was also amazing) and had most of the planning done and decisions made, so learning that he left was unsettling. However, once we spoke with and then met Riley, we relaxed. She picked up seamlessly where William left off and she helped us with all the last-minute details. She is wonderful to work with and did everything in her power to make the day perfect. The level of service from the entire staff was exceptional also; Kyle, Angela, Chef Andre, Jim the valet, the kitchen, wait and bar staff - all were on their A game and allowed us to enjoy our party without giving any thought to the details. The turnover from ceremony under the tent to cocktail hour in the tent was swift and subtle. The guests whether getting a drink at the bar or taking a walk to the beach, didn’t notice a thing. The food and drink were fabulous and plentiful, the dessert parade I still think about :) The presentation, variety and taste all exceeded our expectations. The s’mores and the bonfire wrapped up the most perfect night. I hope to be a guest at a wedding at Oceanbleu to experience another night there. It was simply magical. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Oceanbleu, Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs and their staff, especially Riley. We will treasure the memories made that night for the rest of our lives. Allix Berkman(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-07-2022 I want to first stress that despite everything, this truly was one of the best days of my entire life, and like a couple other reviews I’ve read, the venue is absolutely gorgeous, and as for the food, unfortunately I did not get to taste much of it because it was my wedding day, but I have heard nothing but raving reviews about the food including the sushi and the passed appetizers, etc. Now for the cons - my one issue throughout the entire experience, was the customer service and communication. We started our planning during Covid - First, it took about a month to even get an appointment because Lynn was quite unresponsive and hard to reach. Finally, when we were able to see the venue, we started out talking to William, and I was pretty excited about him helping me on my special day despite the lack of communication that I would occasionally receive, because I could tell he was a true professional that would make my day extra special.Inching closer to the wedding, a month before to be exact, out of nowhere, William had left without a trace, I couldn’t even contact him through the phone. We were shortly assigned to a new individual Riley, a young girl who seemed to have been thrown into Williams role. A few days before the wedding day we had met with her, dropped off all of our signage, let her know everything that needed to be put up for the day of, etc. Wedding day: Overall, everything was absolutely gorgeous and perfect in my perspective, minus a few things. My ceremony was held up over 30 minutes because they had failed to prepare a wheelchair for my grandma although I had let them know this over a month in advance. We were also only served half of the cocktail hour foods, I had never gotten to try the sushi although she knew how much I was looking forward to it, she forgot to put out 90% of the signs that I had asked for, (and I worked HARD on those signs, so it hurt when she totally forgot to put them out) - We also did not receive champagne during our speeches champagne toasts, And she forgot to pull my dad aside for his speech so he never even got to do his daughter speech. I did like my bridal attendant though, in the beginning she was very accommodating to me.AC: The air conditioning was not great in the heat of the summer and most of my guests were unfortunately sweating towards the end of the nightCake: they had wheeled our wedding cake across a crowded dance floor when it had a leg that was about to break, and the entire cake had dropped right before getting to the kitchen, my guests were gasping and trying to hide it from me which luckily I did not see the cake drop. Overall, it truly was the best day ever. But unfortunately a lot of it was very unorganized, my cake was poorly handled, my ceremony was delayed due to lack of preparation, and my signage that I had spent time and money on did not appropriately go out onto the beach on the day of the wedding, which truly hurt. The worst part of it all, is that she had never even apologized for anything. My final message to Oceanbleu: Selecting a wedding coordinator for someone’s special day is not a choice that should be half assed. You truly should have had a better system for selecting the right person for the job, Because these choices could seriously make or break a bride and groom special day. I know that if William was with us on our wedding day that we would not have experienced what we did. Reviewed on 09-08-2022

William helped us push it to the limit with our 250 guest count and helped us to host cocktail hour right on the beach during sunset! It was unique, beautiful and memorable. A lot of work went into making the various aspects of the venue work together (beach ceremony, beach cocktail hour, the ballroom for dining and the tent for dancing) but the whole evening flowed so well and was exactly what I was hoping for in a wedding. Kent S(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-08-2021 Let me start by saying this:The place is beautiful, the food was amazing, the staff was incredible and the bridal attendant was outstanding. With that being said, the reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of the Maitre d. Throughout the whole process of booking and planning our wedding (2x because of covid) ,William (the Maitre r), made our entire experience dreadful. He was impossible to contact, so much to the point that he blatantly ignored 16 emails until we contacted his boss. He then told us he never got any of them, and when it came to our run through the week of he told my wife she was being \"sassy in her emails\" in front of me and both our parents. The guy has no shame about being unprofessional. The night of, he took it upon him self to HANDWRITE table cards and move people to tables we did not have them seated at. He was no help at all during setup or breakdown. He was basically no where to be found the entire night. He also took it upon himself to put our \"thank you gifts\" on the table before the guests ate, even though we agreed on having them distributed at the end of the night. We also had a personal cake for cutting purposes that when we asked for at the end of the night he told us he threw it out. On top of all of that, he kept most of our candles and table arrangement/decorations we brought in our selves. Absolutely don't trust this man. I can't believe after reading through all of these reviews that he still has a job there. Reviewed on 02-09-2021

Brittany B(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-10-2019 Where to start... I want to start with the good. The renovation came out beautiful. The food - fantastic. It’s perfect for a cozy beachfront wedding. Can be casual, can be elegant - it’s up to you! The price was fair as well! Now the bad.THE MANAGEMENT. I’ve been it the catering/hospitality industry basically my entire life and I am in shock on how disorganized and unprofessional the management was. First, I had a tent wedding and it was set up on the beach. After multiple discussions of tent - including the night before in person. But that’s not the worst of. I paid a couple thousand extra to have the specific liquor myself, my husband and my guests drink. The Maitre D lied about the price at first, it’s fine still paid it. On my wedding day, it wasn’t there. He had ordered something else thinking I wouldn’t notice. He then got very angry and stormed out to buy just a few bottles. Management was very rude to my guests, my family and awful to the vendors. But that really wasn’t the worst either. He kept making my dj stop playing music because it was time to serve food, however food came out a half hour later. There was a strange time with no music. So worried about screaming at all the vendors, they forgot to put out champagne for the toast. Still not the worst. I asked him a billion times what if it rains for the $3500 bonfire. He assured me we will move it inside to the front room not to worry. Well the Maitre d wound up storming out of the wedding in the beginning because he was caught making fun of my guest by the dj who was a family friend. So when it rained 5 minutes in - we came back in and the front room was all locked up. My guests had no where to go and had to sit on the stairs and all over the near the front desk in the dark for an hour until the buses came back to pick us up. I should’ve known better. I didn’t get a great feeling from the beginning with him. And then when their even coordinator quit, they sent a clueless, disrespectful woman from corporate in who has zero people skills. I wrote an email after weeks after the wedding but no response. This place would literally be perfect if it had different staff. Reviewed on 06-02-2020

They just renovated the entire place and it leaves an open palate for any decor, with a grey wash and simple chandelier lights along with their staple chandelier right in the center of the room which is a absolutely stunning! We had our ceremony on the beach and it was breathtaking. They are an amazing team, and made us feel so comfortable every step of the way. On the day of, they made sure everything ran smoothly, and did so much more behind the scenes than I was aware of day of.Oceanbleu as a venue is incredible. Our guests cannot stop raving about how elegant and breathtaking the space is, and how amazing our food was. We are both NYC foodies, and we were blown away by their menu options and food on the whole.I cannot recommend this venue enough. One suggestion would be to book a block of hotels elsewhere, as the Bath and Tennis Club (no connection to the venue itself other than location) was terrible with response time and gave us and our parents a hard time with trying to get more information/booking. Because they are so busy accommodating all of their brides, it was best for us to set up meetings and discuss details in person rather than via phone or email - and they were always up for it. They were incredibly patient as we worked our tasting all the way up to last minute details the day before our wedding. Alex M(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2018 Positives: The IMPRESSIVE MENU and DELICIOUS FOOD will make your wedding stand apart from others and have guests talking for years. PERFECT LOCATION: ocean front, ceremony on sand (weather permitting), pretty back-up space for ceremony. Despite the outdated building entrance and carpet in ballroom/throughout hotel, BREATHTAKING RECEPTION SPACE with tall ceilings, natural lighting, spectacular views. My bridal attendant and catering staff were all very attentive and accommodating.Despite all of this, I would NOT RECOMMEND Oceanbleu for many reasons due to POOR MANAGEMENT in hotel and catering company (Robbins Wolfe) ...No venue is perfect and mistakes happen (like setting the fire alarm off at your wedding), but what matters most is how a business handles customer service and resolves it. To keep this as short as possible, the main issues we experienced were:-DISORGANIZATION: We learned (from email proof) from a bride, that we were DOUBLE BOOKED for almost 6 months.-UNPROFESSIONALISM: Our site fee check was not deposited for 11 MONTHS (would have been later if I wasn't calling about it frequently). I was referred to as \"ENTITLED\" by Jessica when attempting to negotiate prices, and \"CRAZY\" by William for trying to get his verbal offer in writing after 5 months for the inconveniences we've endured. -POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: After hearing that many other brides were experiencing similar issues and nothing was getting resolved, I felt the need to get corporate involved. There was obvious resentment towards me as a result: \"I had to use my company card to pay for your complimentary ____ \". -POOR RESPONSIVENESS: To get proof of our booking, I tried to obtain copies of signed contracts via email and phone for months. It frequently felt impossible to get a hold of both the hotel and catering departments. BOTTOM LINE: After 1.5+ years of stress, I regret choosing this venue and would not recommend it (unless management of hotel and catering changes). Reviewed on 01-09-2018

This venue delivers on all of things you’re looking for to host a wedding/event: exquisite food, amazing decor, breathtaking scenery, and an awesome zip code.Even though these features will astound you, they aren’t the best part of OceanBleu. Rather, similar to your guest list, ultimately what matters are the people who celebrate your event and the people behind the scenes who make that happen. William (Director of Sales) and Jessica (Event coordinator) are two of the hardest working, kindest, most sincere people you will meet in this crazy world we live in (much less wedding/event planning). They genuinely care and sincerely want what is best for you. They have amazing spirits and we can’t wait to have another milestone in our life just so we can plan another event with them.Jerry, the maître d’, is laser focused with a tremendous attention to detail. He seamlessly ensures the progression of events and is that extra magic touch every successful event needs.Last but not least, Sarah. If you’re looking at OceanBleu for your wedding, Sarah is the bridal attendant who will be your champion on your wedding day. Yeah, it’s nice to make sure that you get to the food in cocktail hour, enjoy dinner, and make sure your cup is always full — but that’s nowhere near what Sarah will do for you on your special day. She is a calming presence who will field quite literally any mishap along the way (aka need an emergency seamstress because your dress/suit is falling apart... there’s Sarah). The only criticism for Chef Eric is how difficult he made it to choose our entrees, the tasting we had at Oceanbleu was one of the best meals we have ever enjoyed and it pained us to have to narrow down a selection for our guests (seriously, the most difficult decision we had to make for our wedding!). We may sound a bit biased since we love Oceanbleu, but we were assured they truly gave us an amazing wedding because even months afterwards, our guests were still raving about how much fun they had, the beautiful setting, seamless service and delicious food. Saving the best for last, William and Jessica will forever be in our hearts for all they have done for us. From day 1 William won us over with his sincerity and genuine intention to give us the wedding of our dreams. He was with us every step of the way, gave us valuable advice and support and worked hard to make our dream wedding into a reality, which resulted in a day that we still can't believe we can call our wedding day. Alongside William, the ever so organized, innovative, and personable Jessica made sure we were on track with our wedding duties and didn't veer off course. Wedding planning can be stressful at times, but every interaction with William and Jessica was just simply fun and heartwarming. We felt there were moments throughout the day that were disorganized, but Sarah the bridal attendant handled everything. Sarah was amazing and loved her. Overall had an amazing experience. Laurin Cabral(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-05-2017 I would 100% do my wedding here again, although I did have some concerns on a few things. First I'll say that I was VERY happy with the food, dessert parade, and our event coordinators (Jessica and William). They were both fantastic to work with. Jessica paid very much attention to detail and dealth with probably hundredsof emails from me over the past year and a half. She was REALLY great! Our bridal assistant (sarah I think) was also FANTASTIC to work with. She kept me well fed and drinks in hand, on track for all my dress changes and bustling. She was like a little miracle and I HIGHLY recommend to get the bridal assistant (I think it was $300 extra- 100% worth it. The food was AMAZING! (And I'm a NYC foodie and an avid cooking enthusiast). VERY VERY good food, everyone loved it. The venue did a very good job and went above and beyond to help me out with my wedding decor, which was a lot. It was something I was worried about since I didn't hire a wedding decorator and I was VERY happy with how they organzied everything and set it all up. So a few of the things I was disapointed by: the communication about the bridal suite situation was not very good. We had paid for our lunch through the catering vendor (Robins Wolffe) and it wasnt clearly explained that when we ordered breakfast and mimosas and drinks to the grooms suite during the day, they would be charged by the HOTEL (sort of like room service rates) and we ended up getting a bill for like $1400 after we finished lunch. Also Our $400 lunch that we had already paid for to the caterer didn't come till like 2;00 (not sure if they forgot or what) which noone got to eat because we were all getting ready to take pictures by that time. Waste of $ and we felt a bit nickel and dimed after paying over $25k for catering for the wedding. I am not convinved it was intentional but definitely not clearly explained to us. SO I'd simply recommend that if you plan to get breakfast/ mimosas/ or drinks during the day in the bridal suite or grooms room, you BRING YOUR OWN unless money is no object. But even so, we got charge $480 for a little bit of vodka and thats outrageous (Thats from the hotel, not the caterer). Also was very upset that the heaters werent brought out for my wedding. It was freezing (less than 60 degrees) and my guests were absolutely freezing. We had discussed the heaters previously at our tasting and was told they would be brough out if the weather called for it. Then when we asked about it that night to the maitre' d we were told it wasn't in our contract. Which is bullshit because if we were at all given the open to get them, we would have. But we were told they were included. Also you need to be careful with your stuff , Because even though I appreciate that they held our stuff overnight for us, the stuff is left without really being watched and hotel guests or anyone can just go in and steal it. I don't THINK anything was stolen but it was unnerving knowing that it wasn't locked up. And the next day after we made one trip to pick up decor, we headed back to get the rest of our stuff and we had 3 centerpieces there.but we were infuriated to find out that someone had stolen them ($1000 in flowers). I freaked out and Jessica was nice enough to hunt down the person who took them and she personally drove them back to me at my house for the brunch we were hosting. I was grateful but still upset they were able to be stolen in the first place. Reviewed on 21-06-2017
Angela Demolfetto(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2017 There is not enough stars in the sky to rate how many should be on this overall rating chart for Jessica and William at Oceanbleu. From the beginning, William was accommodating to our needs. He got a feel for who we were as a couple so he could build the story of us unfolded for our wedding. He knew that we had a budget and suggested we get Married the beginning of June so we had the chance of being warm. We never could imagine (even with all planning) the sunny beautiful beach day that was in store for us. Jessica Easton is meant for the Bridal Industry. Her calm, sweet, genuine, caring, accommodating personality helped guide me through all the stages of wedding planning. She never said the word no, always answered calls right away, accommodated my guests, and gave me great ideas. William and Jessica gave us a wonderful experience with our tasting. They gave us several dinners and it was very exciting to try them as well as romantic for us as a couple. Three days before we choose to do an extra hour of dancing we were so pleased that William granted our request. When the day came the Bridal Attendant catered to our every need to ensure we didn't miss any of our day. She not only gave us drinks, food, got our bags, gave us quality time but she even bustled my dress and packed my belongings. I literally can cry thinking of the 3 of them and how they made us feel that day on June 11,2017. The food was amazing, the desert parade was so much fun. Even at the last hour I felt like i was in a movie. This is the feeling every bride and groom should have, and we will forever be so thankful. Reviewed on 17-06-2017
Renee Bernardo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-08-2016 Three weeks ago was by far the best day of our lives. William, Oleg and the whole Oceanbleu staff ensured that every moment was perfect. Our favorite part of Oceanbleu was how they made us feel like family. The experience was always exciting and never daunting. Every detail was set out for us, times were nailed down, and they were always a step ahead of my type-A brain. Our family and friends raved about the beachy-chic venue - from the food, to the views, to the gorgeous interior. Thank you William for my making our planning experience unbelievably smooth. Oleg - Thank you for running the day without a hitch. Our amazing Bridal attendant Amanda kept us fed and happy. She also had to help me with my dress a bunch of times!! Ashlee Falco(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-08-2015 Our first and only stop when we began our wedding search! When we booked August 28th, 2015, we had no idea what the weather was going to be or how the day would be planned but we knew that William was going to coordinate the best day possible.\rWe did a lot of research online and a few things that were important to us were: one wedding at a time, enough bathrooms, light and open feel, no drapes!, a scenic view of the water would be ideal, and FOOD!\r\rAs soon as we pulled up onto the premises and William welcomed us with a tour and all the insight, we just knew!\rOur day was absolutely incredible and ran so smoothly thanks to William.\rThis was a bit of a destination for us and throughout the year of planning, we had lunch out on the deck, brought many boxes labeled with decor, our food tasting was remarkable and unlike any food tasting I have experienced. We were served actual portions and true presentations. Even the operations manager John, made himself available throughout our planning which made a big difference to my dad!\rThe view, the food, the ambiance.... The FOOD! We have gotten so much feedback about how incredible not only the cocktail hour was but the main meals!\rEveryone says as a bride you don't eat at your wedding, I DID and my groom did and it was nothing short of delicious. \rWe had an amazing desert parade that was perfect for keeping everyone up and moving and such a different experience for our guests.\rAll in all from start to finish, this was an incredible venue and I am grateful we were able to celebrate our wedding here.\rThank you William and Alyssa! Jeanine Asencio(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-07-2015 I'll be honest - this place was WAY out of budget for us but I'm so glad we bit the bullet and had our dream wedding there! It was incredible - the food, the decor, the atmosphere, the service. I can't say enough good things, especially about William the maître d'. \r\rThis venue only hosts one wedding at a time and is very accommodating of any special requests. If you want to get married in NY with your toes in the sand, this is the place to do it ;) Reviewed on 31-07-2015
Jennifer Bush(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-08-2014 I am not sure where to even begin. From the day I stepped foot into the Oceanblue, I knew I needed to get married there. Then, the moment I met William, I knew I had to work with him. He is truly an amazing planner, and an even better person. He honestly cares about every detail of your wedding and wants you to be the happiest person ever on your wedding day! He met with us whenever we needed him, emailed with us constantly about ideas. \rWhen we went for our tasting, he allowed us to make some adjustments to the meal choices to our liking. My dad is a huge sushi person - on the day of our wedding, William was standing at the entrance of the tent for the cocktail hour with a plate of sushi and chopsticks to feed my dad. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! The wedding from start to finish was a fairy tale and I wish I could do it all over again! The food was delicious and the venue is amazing.\rWe had our ceremony outside on the beach, our cocktail hour outside under the tent and the wedding inside. The place is magical and William is the icing on the cake! Reviewed on 29-08-2014
Jolene Leonardi(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-08-2014 Oceanbleu was to be the site of our dream wedding. Unfortunately, they need to work on response time. We had numerous telephone appointments scheduled but never received a call. We sent several emails and left voice mail messages but we did not get a response. This was AFTER we received the proposal and just had a few questions. Then we finally received an email at MIDNIGHT. This is an unacceptable way to run a business. As a result of their lack of response, we had to go with a different venue because we just couldn't hold out any longer. Very disappointed, to say the least. They put on a good show at the initial meeting, but good luck getting follow-up contact. Reviewed on 27-01-2014
Sandra Winstanley(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2012 This space is stunning. Very natural and simply beautiful. Food is outstanding and they are very accommodating on the menu. Staff was friendly, but they could use a little more attention to detail. They need to give a bit more guidance when running the ceremony and need to pay attention to what you book with your vendors. They are reactive vs. proactive in helping you bring it all together on day of. Reviewed on 08-11-2012
