Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden is a beautiful public Garden in the heart of Kernersville's Historic Downtown. Our Carriage House was designed to accomodate a full range of events including business and nonprofit events, weddings, receptions, rehersal dinners and parties. Our surrounding gardens provide the perfect backdrop for any occasion.
The Carriage House offers a Conference Room and an elegant 2,400 square-foot Ballroom opening onto the Patio Terrace.
The Gregory M. Ciener Ballroom features a dramatic, vaulted ceiling over half the space and on the other side of the Ballroom, a dropped ceiling for more intimate dining. The Ballroom accommodates 150 guests for dinner (seated) and dancing, up to 225 for Meetings, Lectures and Classes (theatre style), and up to 275 for Cocktail or Other Events (standing room only). French doors from the Ballroom open on the Patio Terrace with a view of the gardens.
Patio Terrace and Courtyard Garden is constructed with blue stone, surrounded by a stacked stone wall, anchored by two stone planters, the Patio Terrace is the outflow for the Ballroom. The Courtyard Garden resembles gardens found in Charleston. Seasonal containers and vines can be found here.
A receiving kitchen adjoins the Ballroom and is equipped to accommodate the service of food prepared by caterers.
Our goal for special events at the Garden is to provide a magnificent garden surrounding a lovely facility that can accommodate a full range of events; such as corporate luncheons, cocktail socials, rehearsal dinners and wedding receptions.
With stunning gardens, a spacious Ballroom located in our Carriage House, adjoining the Patio Terrace, and Conference Room, you can host an indoor event that brings in the outdoors.

Absolutely Stunning Venue, we adore the gardens! A few of our DJs have worked out here recently and the communication and staff from the venue was great, can't wait to work out here again! Reviewed on 02-11-2023

This venue is beautiful but the people who run it and the whole experience to get married here was horrific. They are rude, have the most ridiculous rules and make what is supposed to be the best day of your life, a miserable experience. They went as far as to say we had to blow out our floating candles MID RECEPTION because it “goes against the fire guidelines” even though the fire Marshall and Chief of the fire department stated this was not the case. As beautiful as the grounds are, it isn’t worth the terrible experience. Brides beware and do NOT get married here!! Reviewed on 21-10-2023
Kathryn S(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 This venue was beautiful. We had our ceremony on the terrace. Truly a stunning place for a wedding. Such a unique venue and so so so beautiful. So lovely to have the ceremony space and reception hall literally steps away from each other. A little difficult to work with staff. I will admit that I made a lot of what they called “last minute” changes although they were made a little less than a month before the wedding. They were supposed to have the chairs set up on the terrace for the wedding, but they stated because I Made too many last minute changes and they were unable to set them up due to staffing issues. We found Lynn a little hard to work with; however, overall we had a beautiful venue. Reviewed on 25-01-2020
Rachel Kinney(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2019 Overall, I would recommend this venue as the venue is inherently gorgeous and there are a variety of areas to utilize for a wedding making this venue an incredible value for all you are getting out of it. The venue includes tables and chairs for portions of your event located in the ballroom or on the terrace which is convenient and a cost saver. The staff is very friendly and flexible. However, one of the downsides to the venue is that there is no outdoor lighting and, unless you bring in your own lighting, there is no way to enjoy the beauty of the venue and the terrace at night. Rebecca Vestrat(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2019 I would not recommend this venue at all. The staff at this venue are not equip for events of this nature. They lacked in communication throughout the whole process and added much stress to wedding planning . When I spoke to the Executive Director about the inappropriate behavior on my wedding day and he stated that he could address the issues and that I would be compensated but nothing happen. While the venue is very beautiful, I would not recommend having a wedding here. Reviewed on 17-08-2019
Julia Evans(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-06-2018 Our experience with the gardens was absolutely amazing! (June 29, 2018) The space is breathtaking and Lynn was organized, responsive, super sweet, and very helpful on the day of! I have so many good things to say but I think the best way to convey how wonderful this venue is, is to share my experience with you. When I first visited, I was in AWE of how gorgeous this place is. Then after speaking with Lynn who couldn't be sweeter and more caring about our wedding and also realizing how reasonable the price is compared to other venues in the area even though this place was so beautiful and perfect, we pretty much immediately knew this was it. There is so much charm to this venue. It's hard to take it all in unless you're there and given a chance to walk around, so go visit! Once you book, the communication line is open and they are there to answer any questions in a timely manner. Our wedding was a fairytale – and that’s the word most of our guests chose when they raved about the wedding. It was just the most beautiful day! I’m not sure if people say this to all brides, but I cannot even tell you how many people have told me that our wedding was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to. Thank you to everybody at Paul J Ciener Botanical Gardens! Reviewed on 01-08-2018
Marquita Massenburg(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-05-2017 The staff was phenomenal! Lynn Adams made herself available by phone and email to myself and vendors throughout the entire planning process. She was super sweet, professional, organized, & detail oriented. Many of my vendors complimented her timely communication with them. The venue itself was beautiful. Our wedding ceremony took place in the \"tropical gardens\" portion of the venue, we had our cocktail hour on the patio, & reception in the ballroom which gave our guests three very different & beautiful experiences. I highly recommend this venue for any special occasion. Reviewed on 11-06-2017
Beverly Ward(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-09-2014 After visiting a number of wedding venues in the Triad, we selected the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden because of the facility amenities and the staff! We wanted an outdoor wedding with an excellent rain plan, just in case, and the Garden provided that. Our wedding ceremony was held in the Tropical Garden and it was beautiful! Our family and friends enjoyed cocktail hour on the Patio Terrace overlooking the newly constructed Hourglass Garden and our reception was held indoors in the Ballroom, with a buffet dinner and dancing. We received numerous compliments from our guest about the facility and many of them are looking forward to visiting the Garden on their own in the future! They loved garden! \r \rKristen Jones, the Facility Rental Coordinator, did an excellent job! From our first meeting to the day of the wedding, Kristen was great to work with. About a month before our wedding we walked through space with Kristin to review in detail our Wedding Day plan, including the rain plan. Kristin also reviewed our vendor list and confirmed the arrival times with each vendor. The day of the wedding she was at the facility the entire day and always ready to help if needed! \r Reviewed on 30-10-2014

Jaime Jo Huff(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2011 Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens are an up-and-coming venue in the heart of the Triad. Though they are still small, the facility on property to have events in is absolutely gorgeous! \rAt the time of our wedding, they didn't have their own tables and chairs, but I believe they now have enough to seat 150. It's a wonderful venue and the staff that we worked with were all fantastic and super nice. Reviewed on 03-12-2011
