PBG was such a beautiful wedding for our wedding on 5/20/2023. We loved being able to make the space our own and have both indoor and outdoor options. We also had so many great spots throughout the garden for photos as well. Having preferred vendors for rentals and catering also made coordinating easy. The events team was also very easy to work with as well. Thank you for giving me my dream wedding! Reviewed on 26-11-2023

We got married 9/9/23 at pittsburgh botanic garden. The venue is such a beautiful, peaceful place. From the gardens to the gorgeous rock wall and door to the barn and event space. It is stunning. I loved that the venue had some preferred vendors for the catering and rentals. It made the planning SO much easier. the venue coordinators were great . They answered every question and were so accommodating. They set up a beautiful cookie table, s’mores bar and had the fire going all night. It was all so organized and thought out. This venue is an absolute dream! The team we had leading up to the big day and the day of (thank you Emily, Jenna, and Abby!!) is what makes this place work, and they all seem to be seasoned and professional. Everyone is very nice, always willing to lend a hand, and open to all questions. That’s not even to mention the space itself is stunningly beautiful; whether you’re inside or outside, the place is gorgeous. The customization lent by Ambassador Tent Rental is very handy too, and you can completely make the space your own and exactly what you want. Reviewed on 03-05-2023

Even though we had a small ceremony of less than 20 people the staff made us feel special and understood the importance of the day. The venue does require vendors from their preselected list, but the ones we chose (Ambassador Rental and Rania's Catering) were wonderful and worked well with the venue. Zoe Sorrell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2022 We were so happy we chose to get married at Pittsburgh Botanic Garden. The venue is gorgeous and it is so convenient to have the garden, tent, and barn all within such immediate proximity. The staff were kind and on top of everything. We also loved having a venue that would still offer a gorgeous Plan B in the event of inclement weather. But we were lucky to have an 80 degree November wedding (!!!) that allowed us to take full advantage of photographs around the gardens, another amazing plus to this location. I would pick PBG a thousand times over and cannot recommend it more highly for your special day. Reviewed on 29-11-2022
Elizbeth Hall(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2022 The botanic garden as a venue is beautiful. We fell in love with the ambience, the barn, and the look of the place. However, the staff there were not good to work with. It was always a bother to come and look at the venue during the week, and they were not much help overall. Additionally, they repeatedly kept our decorations and did not allow us to see into the storage closet where our decorations were kept. I ended up going to the venue twice to try and get items back, as one was an easel that I borrowed from work that they claimed we \"borrowed\" from them. No items were even allowed to be borrowed from the venue, so the whole situation was extremely odd. Luckily, after the second visit back to the garden, we showed them the pictures of the items and they gave us our items back. Even after all of this, they still did not let us back in the storage room. Odd... On top of all of this, we rented heaters from Ambassador that were never used. Ended up paying a thousand dollars for the propane tanks to sit there. Nothing was given back. So all in all, I loved my wedding, but didnt love the staff. While they sell you on a day of coordinator, she didnt do anything. Contacted me once via email. Thank GOD I hired my own coordinator, or the night would have been a disaster. Reviewed on 28-11-2022

The reception provided so many different kinds of areas for people to sit quietly by a fire, have kids run around playing yards games, have a drink by the bar, sit and talk at the tables or dance the night away in the barn. There was something for everyone but you still felt like you were celebrating together <3 We had so much fun and the venue was literally stunning. Emily Schmitt(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2022 First on a positive note - the PBG was the perfect venue for us. We are very outdoorsy people and loved being able to incorporate the outdoors with the safety of inside for weather. It was so gorgeous, unique, and US! We hosted our rehearsal dinner in the new welcome center, which was a perfect addition to our weekend. The majority of the staff was phenomenal to work with, very professional and you could tell they knew what they were doing. However, we did have one pretty major hiccup. On the rehearsal night I was told that my coordinator, Emily (who I had been working with for months), would not be there for the wedding as she was working a different wedding elsewhere. She handed her duties off to Noel for the wedding day. Noel never really introduced herself to me and did not know many of the details of the wedding. During the wedding day she seemed frustrated and very unhelpful and not friendly to my bridal party and my parents. (an example is my father is handicapped, she wouldn't open the barn door to let him in and said he had to walk all the way around the venue to enter. Thankfully our caterer let him in to make it easier. This is the FATHER of the GROOM and she couldn't accommodate him). I hate even taking a star off my review because the day was perfect and the venue was amazing. It was unfortunate to have that experience with a staff member, I'm sure the change of plans was stressful for her too... but unfortunate for us. Other than that I recommend this venue 10/10! Its beautiful, romantic, and perfect. Reviewed on 03-07-2022

They met with us to organize our timeline for the day and go over everything in advance, coordinated with our vendors, and basically made us feel totally at ease with how the wedding was going to go. Day-of the staff and Emily in particular was with us every step of the way, making sure things ran smoothly, getting us to the right place at the right time, and organizing everything. PBG struck the perfect balance, filled with flowers/plants/wildlife, outdoors, a little rustic, but all within a 30 minute drive of downtown Pittsburgh.Throughout the planning process Ashley and the PBG team were fantastic—super organized. They kept our planning on course and were flexible when a few weeks before the wedding we realized we needed to add on a set-up package given the reality of our day of timeline. Leslie Giaquinto(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2018 We just hosted our daughter's wedding at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden and it was wonderful! The outdoor celebration garden was a beautiful backdrop for their vows - we didn't need to decorate as the natural landscape and fall - appropriate planters were already there and ready! The barn is beautiful both day and night. It has heating and air conditioning, so weather is no problem. The PBG uses Ambassador Tent Rental exclusively for providing tents, tables, chairs, dishes, etc. and Tania was wonderful to work with! The weather was chilly and Ambassador was able to provide a heater that kept our tent at just the perfect temperature. PBG has a list of preferred caterers - we chose Nick from Hazelnut Catering and the food and service were fantastic! Ashley, Colleen, and all the ladies at PBG were so helpful, answered all of our questions, communicated in a timely manner, and were a calming influence on wedding day. Ashley was a joy to work with and couldn't have asked for a better person to work with. Katie Buckley(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-09-2018 My husband and I knew we wanted an outdoor/barn wedding, but after looking at several places that either smelled like a farm, needed rented bathrooms, etc. we stumbled upon PBG-- and we are SO happy we did! We had the most amazing wedding day, and so many guests came up to us and said how much they loved the space, and had never seen a wedding venue quite like it! We had about 130 people, and the space fit everyone perfectly. Colleen and Ashley are quick to respond to any emails, and our wedding band, Radio Tokyo, also said Ashley was great to work with. Just an FYI you will need to rent everything like forks, spoons, cooking utensils, which is all done through Ambassador Tent Rental- a very easy process, but something I hadn't thought about at the beginning! PBG was the best venue for what we wanted with great landscapes around for pictures, great staff, beautiful space, AC in the barn-seriously everything is perfect about it! Reviewed on 17-09-2018
Stephanie Fitting(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2018 We fell in love with this venue the second we saw it and now after the wedding we are still certain it was the right choice. It was beyond beautiful (albeit super hot) for our June 2018 wedding. The ceremony site is gorgeous, the barn is the perfect combination of rustic and contemporary. The a/c was crucial and the barn would have made a perfect back-up spot in case of rain. There are multiple other lovely spots around the grounds for good photos. We loved that it was not a total blank slate - we hardly needed any decor/flowers since it was already so awesome. My only gripe is with the coordinator staff, and it's a small one. They were very responsive to my emails in the months leading up to our wedding and Ashley assured me that she would be on site helping and would stay until the end of the wedding to help us pack up our stuff. Nearly 2hrs before the end of our event, she came up to me and announced that she was leaving and these other two women who I hadn't met would take care of us the rest of the night. Worse than that, there were no signs or people to direct our guests from the parking lot/shuttle to the ceremony site around the back of the building. Because of this, they just went into the visitor center and stood around confused. It wasn't until my aunt texted my dad \"we're here! downstairs\" that anyone even knew about our confused and lost guests. Why did the clerk sitting right there in the visitor center not say anything? We know they own a sign pointing toward the event area, where was it on my wedding day? Despite this, we still feel we made the right choice and were super happy overall. Venue gets 5 stars, coordinators get 4. Reviewed on 26-06-2018

We had around 120 guests and everyone fit perfectly and had room to dance on the floor. The barn theme was exactly what we wanted and we got married outside in front of the two doors which made for perfect photos. The barn had air conditioning so it was cool in the hot summer day. All of our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful our wedding was. Ashley helped us along the way and was very organized. Colleen and Ashley were absolutely wonderful through the whole planning process. We felt relieved to know that we were in good hands in the hectic days leading up to our wedding. What I loved most about this venue is that the Plan B for the ceremony is just as beautiful as getting married outside. We had rain during our ceremony and the staff moved the guests inside with such ease and we still had an incredible ceremony. The two staff members that stayed during the reception were also super helpful and fun! I wish I could remember their names because I'd love to give them a shout out. Our guests kept coming up to us to tell us how beautiful and unique our venue was and how they plan on coming back to explore the gardens. The space held our 200 guests comfortably and the barn was beautiful for dancing and cocktails. Having the botanic garden trails to take pictures was such a nice touch. Kimberly L(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2017 The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden was the first choice that my husband and I wanted for our September wedding in Pittsburgh. It had all the feel and style that we wanted for our botanic themed wedding and it gave us our ceremony site and reception site all in one place- which was what was most important to us and our guests. It has some great upgrades, combined with a rustic feel that overall gives you a great effect especially when the sun is setting-its truly a beautiful space in barn. We booked as early as possible in January for our September date and had a Friday date originally planned but luckily a Saturday opened up and we were able to switch, (so it was great that they were able to accommodate us that way!) and we still loved the venue even without being able to see it in full bloom so to speak when we booked. Over the course of the planning months we learned what it was like to deal with the vendors that PBG dictates you work with. You can only use their food vendors that they are familiar with, and you can only use their one preferred rental company-so I wasn't really able to get a better price check for the rental items I needed to purchase- like linens, tables, chairs, heaters, seating tent-not to mention every single thing your food vendor will need that day. And you will need to purchase event insurance for this venue-just FYI. Overall most people were great with communication-its not the easiest thing, so you really need to be organized if you are planning it yourself like we did. But we did have some concerns with how many different people ended up being our event coordinator. It just seems like at the time of our wedding they were having some employee turnover. On the days nearing the wedding we worked with Colleen and Shelley. Colleen ended up being our main contact and Shelley was the assistant that day, and Shelly was the sweetest-so thoughtful. Overall the venue on the day of was great, we didn't have rain, so keep in mind the weather is going to play a huge part in how your day is at this place, and our guests really loved being able to walk the grounds of the gardens as well. We did have a few random people who were visiting the gardens just try to walk into the space while we were setting up but we just asked them to leave and figured \"hey we paid for this space today so please be respectful!\" We also paid for the use of the golf cart, and fire place (totally worth it) and we were able to load things into the venue the day before the wedding in their storage closet before our rehearsal time-which was in the morning since we got married on a Saturday- we had to have our rehearsal in the am the Friday before because there was a wedding that Friday night. So overall, I loved the venue, I had a beautiful wedding, but if you are a no hassle, not into deciding a million details kind of bride/groom, you might want to have someone help you or get a wedding planner. The only reason I'm taking off a star was again because of how many coordinators we had, (I wasn't handing over my final payment until I met with someone in person) and because of some attitude incidents that we had from our coordinator and I'm sorry, I know how stressful wedding planning is, but it all counts when you are paying thousands of dollars for one important day and your family is watching! Other than that the 4 stars are easily earned and I'm exited to go back and visit the gardens on our anniversary! Reviewed on 11-02-2018

Our theme was boho chic, tying in both of our styles! The barn was rustic and the garden totally romantic! We were looking for a rustic venue, however most are a far distance from downtown Pittsburgh, This was 10 minutes (or less) away, and super close to the airport! We got married on Friday, July 28, 2017. The day called for rain, all morning the sky was overcast (perfect for pictures and would keep the temperature down). 15 Minutes before go time, sitting in the bridal suite it started to rain.. pretty heavily. Colleen was so awesome going back and forth between my hubby and I to see what we wanted to do (wait or have the ceremony under the tent) We decided just to go on with it, rain or shine, outside. As I stepped outside to line up, the rain had stopped! It held off until we got some fabulous pictures at the pond. An hour or so later it POURED and I mean POURED! I can honestly say however, all of our guests (young & old) complimented and are still complimenting us on the venue and how beautiful it was! This venue, and stuff exceeded our expectations, made the planning process easy, and was an overall GREAT CALL! The price is totally reasonable, and having the freedom to choose your caterers, DJ's , ect really makes it flexible for most budgets! Leah Palmieri(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-05-2017 We were married here in May and I would recommend this venue! It is a more natural garden currently with stone accents and a barn. The scenery is beautiful! We worked with Dana as our coordinator and she was great! I would like to note though for any couple looking at this space it is very DIY. At some venues they will decorate with your additional decor. Here you or your family is responsible for any decor that is not flowers from your florist. Or if you hire a set up vendor. We worked with a great florist! Sapphire and Lace! We paid a very fair additional fee for them to set up the decor. Although the venue was great in rolling out wagons to help bring in the decor the day before and wiping the ceremony seats after rain. Also you purchase and drop off alcohol for the bar. More work we saved a significant amount of money. My only suggestions would be to assist with the decor as many other venue's coordinators such as hotels accomodate that and to widely expand the list of approved caterers. They have about 8 and 1 never responded to me after many attempts, 1 is Indian food (great but not for our family's taste) and many of the others are extremely expensive. We went with Hazelnut Catering by Nick and he was absolutely the best! Bar done Nick was flawless and his food was amazing. There is room for improvement but again I would definitely recommend this venue! Reviewed on 30-06-2017

We got married at the Botanic Garden April 29th and it was by far the most beautiful, incredible experience that any bride and groom could ask for. The flowers and trees blooming provided the opportunity for our guests and photographer to take exceptional pictures of our day. They had a golf cart that took our wedding party to different spots throughout the Garden so we could take pictures without having to walk everywhere in our gowns and heels. We took pictures in fields of dogwood trees and tulips while our guests enjoyed cocktails in the gorgeous rustic barn and tent strung with lights. It was raining in the morning and I was truly not worried about our backup plan to have the ceremony in the barn instead of outside because it is equally as beautiful. Dana, our contact at the Garden, was so kind and helpful with every aspect of our day. She responded to all of my emails very quickly before our big day and was there before, during and after our wedding helping us ensure everything was perfect. The day couldn't have turned out any better. The ceremony was outside at the garden wall and the scenery was beautiful. We rented the six-person golf cart just to take the bride, groom, best man, maid of honor and photographer for additional photographs along the beautiful trails after the ceremony. According to them, there were some great spots for photographs along the way. The reception inside was wonderful with about 90 guests seated indoors with dancing after dinner. The air conditioning kept guests cool on the humid 90 degree day. The dressing room for the bride and attendants was lovely and provided another great spot for photographs. The large catering kitchen with ample counter space, double refrigerator, chest freezer and other necessary appliances allowed the caterer to prepare delicious and perfectly prepared food. Megan and Dana were extremely helpful with advice during the planning stage and were on-site during rehearsal and wedding day to solve all the typical day-of and day-before issues and decisions. We decided to tent the patio in case of rain, but the tent adds a very high-end, dressed-up look to everything even if no rain is expected and I would recommend it. We rented the 40'x20' tent which was the perfect size. The guests all said it was the nicest wedding they'd ever attended and were impressed with the beauty of the venue, both inside and out. April M(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-04-2016 The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is a stunning venue for a wedding. It was the first venue we visited, and all others we looked at afterwards did not even come close to the beauty of the garden. We were married in the spring, and it was the peak week for dogwoods in bloom. Our pictures are amazing. The barn, along with the tent we had set up with beautiful string lighting, made for a rustic and chic look that no other venue could put into one. It was so gorgeous, yet simple too. We barely had to decorate, besides our centerpieces. The venue is stunning itself. Our guests could not stop talking about how gorgeous it was at the reception. Megan, the event coordinator, was very helpful, but not pushy with any ideas. The great advantage and great disadvantage about the PBG is that the only vendors they specifically work with are an equipment rental place (for tables, chairs, linens, etc.) and a list of caterers you can choose from. We found our own DJ, photographer, videographer, and florist. It was our responsibility to communicate and plan with each vendor independently, including the equipment rentals and caterer. Kathryn (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2015 I knew early on that I wanted to get married in a garden, so my first thought was to contact Phipps. I'm so glad I decided to google other/backup options, though! Megan, the event coordinator at PBG, is very kind and went above and beyond to make sure my needs were taken care of. She gave us a tour of the garden on our schedule (willing to come in even on one of her off days), and on our wedding day generously provided a golf cart to transport us in the rain! I could ask her anything and I never felt I was just a source of money. \r\rSpeaking of prices, they're definitely affordable! They give Phipps some great competition for sure! There aren't any extra or hidden fees--what you see on your quote is what you get.\r\rWe loved the gazebo as our ceremony site--it felt so intimate, perfect for our small party. You're given a two-hour block for your reservation, and during that you're allowed to take pictures anywhere in the garden for no charge! Which was great because the garden is constantly expanding, so there's multiple beautiful areas to go to (a lotus pond, a children's fairyland, a restored barn and orchard). For an extra fee you can rent the dressing room in the main event hall to get ready in (and without having to book the event hall itself). \r\rIf anything I would recommend staying on top of emails and phone calls. Megan is right now the only person handling all the events at PBG, so don't be afraid to follow up with her. \r\rOtherwise Megan did a great job, and I don't think the wedding could've been any more lovely!
