Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at The Priory Reviews
Sarah Bootman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-06-2022 Our wedding day at the Priory was simply magical! Every single guest in attendance was in absolute awe of the hall with our lighting and table settings. While the guests saw the exquisite venue and decorations, behind the scenes we saw the high degree of professionalism that makes the Grand Hall one of the premier wedding venues in Pittsburgh. Our wedding coordinator Courtney was highly experienced, clear in the expectations an offerings of the services, patient during our entire process, and advised us in a calm and capable manner (she had a clear answer or advice for everything!). Courtney was also a source of calm for us when several guests dropped out last minute, and my groom and I forgot to tell our own officiant the rehearsal time. Courtney addressed these hiccups with grace and aplomb and kept the show running even with our boisterous and unfocused wedding party. Beyond Courtney's skills, the Priory staff was incredibly professional, fun and simply a delight. We had the wedding of our dreams at the Grand Hall and cannot recommend this venue enough! Jennifer, our event coordinator, was THE BEST! She was on the ball from the beginning- always answering our calls and emails within hours. Jennifer and The Priory’s staff were not only friendly and accommodating, but they executed the event perfectly! Jennifer was present and engaged before and during the event.Unfortunately, we had a rainy Pittsburgh wedding day. The staff was more than happy to wait to shift our event inside until the last minute based on our call. Reviewed on 13-11-2023

I don't know if there are enough positive words to explain our fantastic wedding experience at the Priory. As soon as we walked into the venue for the first time, we fell in love. It is so unique - high ceilings, stained glass, pillars, lighting, - there is not another venue in Pittsburgh that is like it. About 3 weeks before our wedding, our point of contact left the Priory. This could be unsettling to a couple in the final countdown before wedding day, but the Priory did not miss a beat. Jennifer was absolutely wonderful to work with and made sure every single detail of our wedding was exactly what we wanted - truthfully, she helped with details that we never even considered. She really carried us across the finish line to make sure we had the most perfect day, and we did not worry about a single thing on wedding day. Rebecca also helped with coordination and organization throughout the last few weeks. Mandy was super helpful with finishing touches and making sure our cookie table lived up to the Pittsburgh tradition. Janet, part of the banquet staff, took care of our head table, making sure we were able to eat the appetizers and were never without a drink. Janet also assisted in multiple events throughout the night and made sure our sparkler exit went off without a hitch. It was wonderful to be taken care of so we could focus on enjoying our day. Our guests raved about the relaxing and beautiful atmosphere of the courtyard for our cocktail hour as well as the food - every meal was prepared perfectly. It was not just \"wedding food\" good, it was restaurant food quality. They also worked with us to have awesome late night snacks - pretzels and tater tots - and also Cheese Curds shipped from Wisconsin - where my husband is originally from. We loved the convenience of the connected hotel and were able to use all 42 rooms for our guests, who never had to leave the venue with the ability to do everything from start to finish at the Priory. The Priory provided us with absolutely everything we wanted for our special day and we cannot speak highly enough of this venue! Reviewed on 15-08-2023
Erin G(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-03-2023 We had the pleasure of having our wedding at Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at The Priory in March 2023. Since many of our guests traveled from out-of-town for the wedding, we also utilized all of the rooms at the adjacent Priory Hotel for the weekend. We are beyond thrilled with how everything turned out and would highly recommend hosting a wedding or any other special event at this venue. As a special event venue, the Grand Hall at the Priory is truly one-of-a-kind – with history, charm, and beautiful details unseen in other venues like stained glass windows and an overlook choir loft. When you combine that with the modern touches – spectacular food, valet parking, full-service packages reasonably priced, hotel on-site – it’s hard to find another venue in Pittsburgh that can compete in our opinion. In addition, we were especially dazzled by the outstanding service we received throughout the planning process, at the Grand Hall on the day of our wedding, and the Priory Hotel itself. Courtney (Director of Events & Catering Sales), Jennifer (Event Manager), and Luciano (Guest Services Manager) are absolute pros and everyone that we came into contact with was extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating (Nicole and Logan at the hotel front desk, Janet at our wedding, everyone really). If you are looking for a great wedding experience that will “wow” your guests (ours are still talking about how great everything was and how unique the Priory is), we would encourage you to consider this venue. Her organizational skills and attention to detail really helped us to make our big day exactly what we imagined. Jennifer worked with us during the final two weeks, and she was at the venue on the day of our wedding. She really helped to bring our vision to life through her artistic eye and by carrying out all of the small details that we had planned for and requested. She also allowed us to come help her set up the hall the day before the wedding. We really appreciated being able to see the space come to life and to be able to hand place some of our most important details. Throughout the planning process, both Jennifer and Courtney were extremely responsive, supportive, and knowledgeable. They were truly able to make everything that we requested happen. Many of our guests stayed at the Priory Hotel over our wedding weekend, as we were able to block the whole hotel. This was extremely convenient, and all of our guests were happy with their rooms. The proximity between friends and family also made the whole wedding weekend even more fun.We used the beautiful courtyard for our cocktail hour. It was a great way for us to have outdoor elements in our wedding reception without the risk of having plans be ruined by bad weather. Courtney and Jennifer even allowed some of our guests with concerns about Covid to eat their meals in the courtyard! This allowed some of our family and friends with Covid risk factors to still be able to take part in our big day.During our reception, all of the staff was outstanding, and many of our guests raved about the food.We truly couldn’t have asked for more from The Priory for our wedding day! Courtney, Rebecca and Jennifer made the planning and the execution of the weekend's events so easy, stress-free and absolutely spectacular. I appreciated their professionalism, their excellent and quick communication and the fact that each of them are outstanding at what they do. Every single contact that we had, whether it was with support staff or with the team directly, was a positive one. The Grand Hall has several wedding packages, and Courtney will work with you to decide which package is best for you. The cost is reasonable, especially for the exceptional quality of the food, the beauty of the venue and the efficiency of the support staff. Rebecca at the Priory handled all of the guest reservations and everyone felt especially welcome and pampered. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room and parking is free. Our guests also used the complimentary shuttle to travel to a nearby restaurant during the weekend. Jennifer at The Grand Hall is a ROCKSTAR! Never in my life have we seen such a gorgeous wedding venue with such a beautiful set up. Our guests were complimenting us on our venue choice all night and for many days after, most saying it was the most gorgeous wedding they have ever attended. The staff, especially Courtney, were equally great and helpful during the entire process, especially since we were planning during a pandemic. They were very flexible/fair to us and made the entire experience enjoyable. Courtney was always easy to get a hold of and would promptly return our calls and emails. Many of our guests, along with ourselves, also stayed at the The Priory Hotel. The rooms were exceptionally clean and up to date. I was planning my wedding from CO and they took care of all the details - with only a few emails, phone calls, and 2 in person visits. They were flawless during the planning process and on our day treated us like royalty! It goes without saying that the venue is uniquely beautiful and the food is delicious. Our guests raved about our venue choice and menu. Planning a wedding is a huge time and financial investment and at the end of the day I wanted it to be fun and memorable. It so exceeded that - I will forever remember the day as the BEST EVER - it was an absolutely grand affair and we have been told again and again by our guests how fabulous it was. I attribute so much of this to our venue choice- we are a pretty causal couple, but for one day felt absolutely glamorous. I see many wedding sites rating the Priory as a high end/costly venue, it is definitely high end , but I have been involved with the planning of DIY weddings and at the end of the day I feel like the Priory was a great value. Jessica Rodgers(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-08-2014 My husband and I had a great wedding at the Priory and highly suggest it! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and made our wedding everything we ever wished for!!!\r\r From the beginning to the day of, the wedding planners were always available to answer our questions and got back to us in a timely Manner! If you are in between a couple venues like we were.... One thing that sold us was that the space at the Priory is yours and only yours! You don't have to share the space with other weddings or events like many other venues out there! Also, we used the outside courtyard for cocktail hour which really made the venue stand out! \r\rThe food was great!! We got to taste it beforehand so we had an idea of what we wanted! Everything tasted great so it was hard to pick! You can not go wrong with anything! We also used the priory bakery for our cake.... Which was also delicious! \r\rThe room was very comfortable and spacious! The high ceilings and the stained glass windows really makes the Priory such an amazing atmosphere! We used the uplighting on the pillars which was also a great accent! They have valet parking and security around which also sets the Priory different from other venues we looked at!\r\rWe highly suggest the Priory, and would like to thank Sara and the staff for making our day so special!!! Erica Nigro(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-07-2014 The moment I found out about the priory, I knew this was the place for us. This was the only venue my husband and I looked at. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was our venue. Sara-Lynn was amazing. She always responded to our emails and calls the same day and was truly our wedding planner. The Thursday before the wedding, she met with me walked me through every detail and introduced me to all her staff. I was worried the night of the wedding that she wasn't going to be there but the rest of her staff did an amazing job. We have received so much feedback from family and friends on how impressed they were with the venue, service, food and DJ. I can honestly say I would not change one thing about my wedding. Yes, it was a stretch on our budget but the food (crab tilapia and almond chicken) was amazing! I would highly recommend the Priory. I wish I could relive this night all over again, minus the rain! Thank you Sara-Lynn and team, you were amazing! Reviewed on 07-10-2014
Kristin Bucci(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-06-2014 My husband and I visited the Grand Hall before we were even engaged, so that we could get an idea of what we needed to plan & how much to save. This was the first venue we researched, and all others that followed could not compare. It was the easiest & fastest decision we made. I had forgotten that our first visit was before our engagement, until our wedding coordinator, Sara-Lynn, reminded me as we were setting up the venue the day before our wedding. There are many couples that she works with, and for her to even remember our first meeting two years ago is a sign that you will not be treated insignificantly. \rBesides the beauty & cleanliness of the Grand Hall, we loved the organization & more importantly the communication with our wedding planner & the entire staff. When it came down to about two weeks before our wedding, communication was important. We had many questions that hadn't popped up in the prior months, and Sara-Lynn was excellent with timely responses and clear explanations to all of our needs. The day of our wedding really was the best day of our lives. After our ceremony & pictures, we relaxed at the Townhouse across the street, where we enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before our reception. Sara-Lynn helped my mom bustle my gown during this time, too. The townhouse was one of my favorite parts of the day. It was wonderful to enjoy that time with my husband, as we all know the day goes by fast!\rLastly, the food & service. This is coming from an italian who makes everything from scratch. Everything was exquisite. We are still getting compliments on how amazing the dinners & wait staff was at our wedding. Servers are very kind and attentive. They did not just walk around with trays ignoring guests during cocktail hour. I can't tell you how many events I've been to where I'm the person chasing the server for hors d'oeuvres! They approached our guests and treated them kindly, as if it was truly their pleasure to be at our event, too. \rI highly recommend Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at the Priory. Ask for Sara-Lynn! We had a bit of trouble with Heather (who no longer works there), but the general manager Rebecca stepped in and took care of everything! She is amazing- she helped us make our wedding day about us, and helped tailor everything so that it would be \"our\" wedding. (We had a small wedding that was nontraditional.) They were willing to work with our budget- we had our wedding on a Thursday evening to help keep down costs. Rebecca stayed in contact with us throughout the planning process and was always quick to respond to questions and emails. \rThe food was amazing as well. All of our guests raved about how good everything tasted! And the staff was excellent. Everyone was so kind and pleasant to deal with! Trish and Christine worked our event. They made sure to work with our photographer and DJ to make sure everything ran smoothly. Its been a busy year and now that my husband and I are approaching our 1 year, we thought it would be a fitting time to go back and express our thanks. From the beginning of the process to the end, the Priory did everything they could to make our reception flow smoothly. The food was amazing (especially the Seafood Napoleon!!). I get comments from guests about how beautiful the hall was and how nicely everything was put together. I will also commend them on the accommodations that they provided for my family and my bridal party for the night prior to the wedding. With all the confusion that can come with planning a wedding, they handled everything professionally and made sure everyone was accounted for and were given what they needed. Thank you so much!!!!! Paige Hodgson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-03-2014 We fell in love with the Priory as soon as we saw it. We got married in March and were given the Winter Wedding Package which is a huge discount over summer months and the absolute highest-end details the Priory has to offer. My husband and I both work full-time and long hours and didn't have time to worry about small details. The Priory took care of everything! We worked with Heather, Sara-Lynn, and Christine throughout the process and each one of them made the process as painless as possible. They gave tips on details I wouldn't have thought of, made sure that every aspect of the wedding ran perfectly, and treated us - as well as all of our guests - like royalty. I can't tell you how many of our friends and family commented afterwards how professional the staff was and the food was excellent. \r\rSara-Lynn ran our wedding reception. Everything ran perfectly and neither my husband or I felt stressed or pushed around in the least. Every detail was planned ahead of time by the Priory and it ran flawlessly. Sara-Lynn even ran to get sewing supplies when the bustle on by dress broke during the cocktail hour! The service was so smooth and flawless I was truly blown away. \r\rOne of the best things about having our wedding at the Grand Hall at the Priory was having hotel rooms available in the building as well. The rooms were beautiful and very reasonably priced. We even used the apartment suite on the 4th floor for people to get together who wanted to continue the celebration after the wedding. An absolutely gorgeous property. \r\rWhether you aren't someone who is into the small details and overwhelmed by the process (like me!) or someone who wants to plan every detail the Priory will make sure your day is perfect and help you every step of the way. They were flexible and accommodated every need we had without complaint. The Priory was well worth the money with our package and much less expensive that most of the other venues that we looked at if you are willing to get married in an off-season month. Champagne taste on a beer (or maybe nice glass of wine) budget. \r\rI would highly recommend Grand Hall at the Priory to anyone! Thank you to all the staff for a perfect wedding. Jennie Youell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-11-2013 Choosing Pittsburgh's Grand Hall as the vendue to hold our wedding as well as reception was the best decision we made whlie planning our wedding. Aside from the Grand Hall being absolutely beautiful, the staff were the nicest people we interacted with while planning our wedding. Most vendues simply want your business. The Grand Hall never once made us feel like we were just another wedding giving them business. They were beyond helpful to us. They were always willing to talk to us, always willing to answering any questions we had and help us when our other vendors did not go as smoothly. The planning process was very easy. The staff were willing to meet with us as many times as needed to see the hall. The staff always answered my questions no matter how small or stupid my question might have been. The guest at our wedding absolutely loved the food, we did not receive one compliant. They also told us how great the staff were during the reception. During the reception, some of our other vendors were not being as professional as they could have been, however the Grand Hall handled them very well and remained completed professional and supportive throughout the entire day. Overall our experience with the Grand Hall was great. The only thing that I wish could of been different is if the wedding could of lasted past 11pm, it just went very quickly, however that could be outside of the Grand Hall's control. I would recommend the Grand Hall to anyone that is interested in working with wonderful people and having a beautiful wedding. Reviewed on 28-01-2014

Leigh Cunningham(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-08-2013 I cannot say enough great things about The Grand Hall at The Priory. First, let me tell you about their staff. Heather, the Priory's Event Planner, helped us every step of the way. From the moment we chose the Priory as our venue, she was available to answer all of our questions, and put us at ease. We held our ceremony in the Grand Hall, as well as our reception, and everything went off without a hitch thanks to Heather's hard work before our event, and the staff's hard work that day. Our day went something like this: We arrived at the Priory the morning of our wedding, and my large bridal party was able to spend the morning with me in a room big enough to accomodate all of us as we got ready ( I had 12 bridesmaids, 2 hair stylists, and a make-up artist and we were all hanging out comfortably in the Priory's Chapter House room). This again, was coordinated for me by the wonderful staff members in the months before our wedding. My husband and his groomsmen got ready at a small home across the street near the venue's gorgeous Bleumengarden. This townhome rental was included in our wedding package. We were able to take wonderful pictures in the courtyard before our ceremony, and then afterwards in the garden across the street, and our pictures came out beautifully. After our ceremony in the Grand Hall, the guests came outside for a lovely cocktail hour in the courtyard with delicious hor'd ourves. The staff quickly arranged the room for our reception, and we came back in for dinner and dancing. My guests raved about the food at both the cocktail hour, and their dinners during the reception. We also used the Priory bakery for our cake, and it was a big hit. The venue itself is beautiful, as you can see in the provided pictures. And the rooms, including the bridal suite, were wonderful as well. The Priory is such an interesting place with so much history. There's even a small speak-easy style bar right near the hotel lobby, which makes you feel like you've gone back in time, in a good way!! Overall, I'd give The Priory the highest recommendation. My husband and I could not have asked for a better wedding, and we have the Priory to thank for that! Reviewed on 01-10-2013

The timing of various events also went very smoothly thanks to Heather and the staff, who worked seamlessly with our DJ, photographer, and videographer. We also love that the food is made fresh by the chef and kitchen staff there, and not brought in by a caterer. The food was absolutely delicious and we received so many compliments from our guests on how great it was! We stayed in the bridal suite and it was very clean, comfortable, and spacious. We had our flawless and regal wedding ceremony at Heinz Chapel. However, the reception held at the Grand Priory was another highlight of the wedding day. The customer service was first class. Heather, the Director, was pleasant, professional and accomodating which allowed our reception to occur without a hitch. The venue is aptly named Grand Priory because it is such an elegant venue which is only surpassed by the fine dining and hospitable staff. While the cost is fairly high it was worth every penny and exceed all of our very high expecations and exacting standards. Heather was our first point of contact and her customer service skills were excellent. After the venue was booked, Walter became our point of contact and he was outstanding too. Aside from being absolutely BEAUTIFUL, there were a two things that stood out about the Priory for us:\r1)The DETAILS/CUSTOMER SERVICE - Walter makes it known that they do 1 wedding a day, and they are completely focused 100% on you when it's your day. This was refreshing and also makes a huge difference when comparing to other venues like hotels where there could be 2 or 3 events going on at the same time. No detail was left out, and the attention on our wedding was so nice. From the decorations, to the food, the cookie table, the accents and the lighting, everything was in place and perfect. The night ran seamlessly and that was mainly due to Walter, the Priory staff, and their exceptional customer service and expertise. \r2)The FOOD – The food was incredible. From the appetizers to the cake, every course was served as it should be (either hot or cold) and was absolutely delicious. For a guest count of 200, this was very impressive. The portion sizes were VERY generous also. \rI would highly recommend the Priory to anyone considering having their wedding reception there. We were able to make it a reality with their \"Winter White\" wedding packages. We were married on January 1st and even though it was a balmy 50 degrees outside it was a beautiful winter wonderland inside with the white lit birch trees, white table linens and chair covers, and beautiful candle centerpieces. The service and attention to detail are top notch. We worked with Heather and she was patient, friendly, and very helpful with getting us to the day and down the aisle. We used the space to hold both our ceremony and receptions. The guests loved that they were already at their tables, didn't have to travel between venues, and had extra time to mingle with friends and family that they don't always get to see. Walter at the Priory was also very helpful and obviously experienced. Every time we talk to one of our guests they mention how beautiful the space is, the delicious food, and the incredible service. All of our guests had a great time and more importantly we (the bride & groom) were able to enjoy ourselves with them. There wasn't a single glich with the day! Heather, our coordinator from the Priory, and her service team did a great job at making sure we didn't have to worry about anything! They make the planning process easy, too. We didn't want to have to worry about searching for vendors or worrying about vendors not showing up with correct products, or not showing up at all. The Priory provided our tables, table linens, center pieces, wedding cake, bar service & alcohol, and wedding coordinator as part of our package. We were able to attend an \"open house\" to taste many of the possible food selections, passed hordvors, and cake. The options were all so great and many that it was hard to pick our favorites. Our guests couldn't get over the variety or the amount of food that we had at our sit down dinner for 136 guests. We haven't heard a single negative comment from any of our guests (and believe me we have some tough relatives and friends that work in the hospitality and service industries). Overall, we belive that the money we spent was well worth it for a night of great food, plenty of drinks, lots of dancing, and of course memories to last a lifetime. Reviewed on 19-01-2011
