Mark your momentous occasion by spending it in the scenic Floridian countryside. Protea Wedding and Events has a storied history behind the doors of its brilliant white barn. This structure is known as a hand-hewn barn and was originally built in Canada in the 1850s. Transplanted to tranquil Ocala, it has been repurposed from its original agricultural roots to serve as an elegant event space. Characterized by the rare ‘swing beams’ of its inner structure, this building gives way to a generous amount of floor space. The golden wood of these exposed beams give the area an instantaneous warmth, primed and ready for you to celebrate with your loved ones. But before that, you can take advantage of the venue’s dedicated get-ready suites to prepare for your special day. The main suite offers room aplenty for your hair and makeup artists to give you and your entourage the star treatment. The rest of your wedding party can prepare in the Loft, an elegantly understated suite where everyone can connect and collect themselves before the ceremony. Choose to hold your service within the barn itself or on the outdoor patio where you can enjoy views of the rolling countryside. Following the exchange of your vows, you can enjoy a cocktail reception on the patio and relax in the serenity of the surrounding pastoral landscape. Featuring an indoor-outdoor bar, toasting to your union with a glass of bubbles is a breeze. Heading back inside the iconic farmhouse structure, you can welcome your guests to a reception area customized to your specific taste. With an overall capacity of 200, you will have ample room to celebrate with all of your loved ones. In order to facilitate a seamless event, the management of this location offer furniture rentals such as tables and chairs for your reception. Excited to welcome outside catering, they also offer a food prep area to ensure that your wedding meal is served to the highest standard. Wow, just WOW!! Protea Weddings and Events is truly the most beautiful and elegant wedding venue I have ever seen!The property alone provides a sense of peace and beauty on its own. From the second you drive up the driveway, you are surrounded by giant oak trees, green pastures, and ponds with flowing water fountains. The venue brought my dream to reality, creating a Tuscan themed wedding using the wood farmhouse tables with wrought iron decor. Courtney and Bev were amazing to work with throughout the entire process — attentive to detail, knowledgeable, and very quick to help. I went with every vendor on their preferred vendor list and could not have been more happy with it all!Highly recommend!!

The Protea is absolutely stunning! Our guests could not believe how gorgeous and perfect this venue was and neither could we! Courtney did an amazing job helping to make sure everything ran smoothly! Protea was literally the best choice we madeduring the wedding planning! Courtney andBev were such a pleasure to work with andmade the whole experience so simple butmagical! The venue itself was STUNNING! Weloved the jasmine wall ceremony site, separatecocktail space, and dreamy reception hall. Wecouldn't be more thankful to Courtney and Bevwho went out of their way to accommodate allof our needs. They even let us dig up a hole forour burry the bourbon ceremony haha!! Welove Protea and will forever hold a specialspace in our heart for the venue and staff!

My wedding day was absolutely perfect thanks to Protea Weddings and Events and their team. If you are looking for a modern rustic barn surrounded by gorgeous Oak Trees, this is the venue for you. The venue is spacious indoors for dancing and dinner, while the outdoor area is perfect for lawn games, cocktail hour and the most picturesque photos. My husband and I could not have asked for a better venue or team to work with.
