Running Mare is a working farm conveniently located 30 minutes west of Richmond in Maidens, VA, and is a beautiful wedding venue to share with your special family and friends. The barn, artists loft and wedding site are shoreline to a 20 acre lake surrounded by pastoral farmland. We have recently renovated our facilities to better accommodate the needs of your special wedding day. The 1500 square foot loft now boasts an open floor plan, exposed timber frame and huge bay windows that allow guests to soak in the views. Rain or shine, the beauty of Running Mare is absolutely stunning!

The Running Mare was the perfect venue and Austin and Robin were so easy to work with! Even through a tropical storm, their staff was corporative and willing to change the set up to fit our wants and needs. It is so beautiful. Such a hidden gem!

I cannot say enough good things about this venue. We had our wedding this past May and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It is absolutely gorgeous and the owners Robin and Austin are lovely people to work with. Any question we had was quickly answered and any request we had was easily met. Running Mare will always hold a special place in our hearts. Highly recommend having your wedding here you will not regret it!

I cannot say enough good things about this venue. We had our wedding this past May and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It is absolutely gorgeous and the owners Robin and Austin are lovely people to work with. Any question we had was quickly answered and any request we had was easily met. Running Mare will always hold a special place in our hearts. Highly recommend having your wedding here you will not regret it!

Just say YES! Running Mare was the ideal venue for our wedding celebration. The surroundings are picturesque during all seasons and the barns are decorated with gorgeous planters! The bridal suite is fit for a queen and made preparing for the ceremony with my ladies such a vibrant experience! High ceilings, huge windows, local art, unique furniture, multiple mirrors, and refrigeration are just a few perks of this space! Both barns are full of character and can be set up and decorated in a variety of ways. The owners and staff are PHENOMENAL! They welcomed us with open arms, listened to our thoughts and requests, offered a variety of decor, and helped make the whole weekend just what my husband and I had envisioned! We had just about 100 guests and a 5 piece bluegrass band ... to say we had a blast is an understatement! Bottom line, if you're looking for a wedding venue in the Richmond Metro area go check out Running Mare!

There are a lot of beautiful venues out there, but only Running Mare has Austin. He was very responsive, professional, and kind through out the whole process. We benefitted from their knowledge of weddings and several referrals of vendors they have worked with before. The venue itself is gorgeous, welcoming, and comfortable. I am so glad we went with Running Mare. We can not say enough good things.

There are a lot of beautiful venues out there, but only Running Mare has Austin. He was very responsive, professional, and kind through out the whole process. My wife and I had to reschedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic (initial date was 9/19/2020), and Robin and Austin were excellent in helping us reschedule everything for the following year. The location is not far (~20-25 min) from the Short Pump area in Richmond, which is where we recommended our guests to stay. Speaking of which, we were able to accommodate around 150 guests comfortably. We have amazing memories and no regrets with choosing Running Mare for our wedding venue.

My husband and I got married at the Running Mare in September of 2021 and it was truly the wedding of our dreams. Robin and Austin were amazing to work with and super accommodating. They were able to provide us with the contact info of a phenomenal day of coordinator, Debbi (who I also highly recommend). The venue itself is breathtaking with the water views, flower blooms, and farm animals. The whole planning process and day of was seamless with Robin and Austin. I cannot recommend this venue enough!

They were also SO helpful and had so many decorations/tables/chairs already at the venue which was a huge help to us. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect spot to host our wedding; everyone loved it!

Running Mare is a beautiful venue! Robyn and Austin are amazing host and helped us all the way to our wedding day! We had hurricane Michael come through two days before our day and knocked out power and lots of tress. Robyn was on top of it for us! Thankfully the day of our wedding we had power and the property was all cleaned up. They treat you like family and always go above and beyond!

My daughter's wedding was just this past weekend, 5/18/2019. The venue was perfect, Robyn and Austin were amazing to work with. We were able to come by the venue before hand as many times as we felt necessary and urged to do so. We have been asked over and over how we found the \"perfect place\" for an outdoor venue. I would strongly suggest that if you are looking for an outdoor venue, you check this out! AMAZING!!

Running Mare and its owners, Robin and Austin, provided the most incredible backdrop and venue for our wedding. The setting shattered expectations and we had the most perfect wedding. From the groom's cottage to the bridal suite and everything in between, this is the best location for a picture perfect wedding in Virginia. We even saw a bald eagle swoop in and catch a fish right out of the pond as we were taking our formal photos. The setting is gorgeous and words fail to accurately describe the beauty of Running Mare and of Robin and Austin, and their family. Running Mare is truly the most amazing wedding venue in the state.

Running Mare is a gorgeous venue! It's been built with weddings in mind. The bridal suite is stunning and has so much natural light. The grooms area is very rustic and located further away from the bride for privacy. The cabin to stay the night is absolutely worth it! The owners are amazing people. They are so involved in creating an atmosphere that is relaxed and making sure guests stay happy and safe. I highly recommend getting married at Running Mare and as a vendor look forward to working their in the future.

Robin and Austin the owners are such amazing hard working people and we are very excited to work with them for our wedding next fall! They are great at responding to questions and concerns I have about everything. We can't wait to see the new barn they are building in the next few months!

The Owners Robin & Austin are the most sweetest people to work with and very down to earth! Their heart is in entertaining & serving others! They run and maintain their gorgeous farm with horses and longhorn cattle. The property has breathtaking views in every direction giving a bride and groom endless options for their DREAM wedding day! The beautifully renovated Barn is perfect for any wedding rain or shine! I am a wedding photographer and have photographed here multiple times and I am always finding a new little nook to photograph in, giving my couples a numerous amount of beautiful options for their images! Meet the Running Mare Team
Austin and Robin Lee (Owner) Austin and I were married on this family farm long before we ever knew we would be in the wedding business. Years later, we had the idea to share the beauty of our farm with others through hosting weddings and special events. We realize that farm life is rare these days, and sharing the beauty of the landscape and happiness of the animals is is truly a special experience. We have enjoyed this small business to it's fullest, and have made customer service central to our mission. We can't thank our past families enough for being such a pleasure to work with!
