A Spiritually Healing Space
Sacred Grove Retreat is a wedding venue burrowed in the Piedmont in Gold Hill, NC. Bought by founder Ellen Whiteside in 2006, the breathtaking venue gives couples access to the best natural surroundings on offer in the Piedmont. Ellen is fondly known as the goddess of the grove and has placed a huge amount of love and time into restoring and beautifying the land. The incredible venue is surrounded by 11 acres of woodland and can cater to indoor and outdoor weddings. Whether you would like to spend your wedding weekend away from the world with your family and friends or you are looking to host a one-day wedding, Sacred Grove Retreat can cater to your desires. With two beautiful areas available for marriage ceremonies, there is plenty of choices for all. Ellen is a natural hostess and focuses on building rapport and making sure every guest who steps onto the land feels welcomed. The venue can facilitate intimate indoor ceremonies in the Grandmother Yurt, and larger outdoor ceremonies can be held in the alluring labyrinth. These areas are perfect for receptions and create ample opportunities for pictures. Sacred Grove Retreat's centerpiece is the Grove House, which can house up to 18 people. If you need to accommodate more guests, then you can add on the Log House, the Baby Yurt, and the Yummy Yurt which can increase sleeping capacity up to an additional 14 people. This makes the total lodging capacity 32. Extend your time in the idyllic location with your closest family and friends. This way, you can fully indulge in the gorgeous sights, enjoy strolling through the grounds, or chat by the fire pit as you bond over your shared love for each other. Sacred Grove Retreat is easily accessible to Charlotte, Greensboro, High Point, and Winston-Salem. This is not just a simple wedding venue, but truly a spiritually healing place full of love.

I have been blessed to be the owner of this Spiritual Retreat Center for the past 17 years. Born in Columbia, SC, I attended Clemson University, then moved to Washington, DC for a couple of years. From 1979-1980, I spent a year hitch hiking in Europe. After a short stay in the Charleston, SC area, I moved to Portland, Oregon and stayed for 22 years before returning to the South. I worked as a licensed massage therapist for most of my time in Portland. My favorite places I've visited have been Tibet, Thailand, Nepal, Mexico, and Costa Rica. My super power is making my guests feel welcome!
