Stunning Setting in Downtown East Village
San Diego Central Library is a wedding venue located in San Diego, CA. Situated in the heart of Downtown East Village, the library is surrounded by cultural and architectural highlights of the city’s past and present. This impressive, soaring building offers a one-of-a-kind setting for special celebrations in this SoCal city. San Diego Central Library features a number of eye-catching, versatile event spaces where you can host your milestone moments. Consisting of 5,000 square feet, the Neil Morgan Auditorium can comfortably accommodate up to 300 people for ceremonies. This state-of-the-art theater features floor-to-ceiling glass doors which allow any event to extend into the open-air courtyard. Complete with an acoustically balanced sound system, a baby grand piano, wireless microphones, a projector, and more, its amenities can help turn your vision into a reality. The event space can be rented for four hours or more, depending on your event needs. After saying “I do,” you and your new spouse can join your loved ones in the Shiley Special Events Suite for your reception. Thanks to its expansive windows, you and your guests can admire breathtaking views of the San Diego Bay and East Village as you celebrate. Here, you can share your day with up to 500 people for a standing reception 333 for a seated occasion. Another event space, the Mary Hollis Conference Center, is also available. This hall is ideal for those celebrating with 40 guests or fewer. For a seamless planning experience, San Diego Central Library will supply round and rectangular tables in addition to 333 chairs. The staff is happy to provide their list of preferred catering teams for you to refer to for a stand-out dining experience. An array of audio and visual equipment is accessible to create your ideal reception ambience. For your convenience, complimentary WiFi is available throughout the building and its grounds.

The Shiley Special Events Suite at the San Diego Central Library is a top-notch event venue space. We used it for our wedding (160 guests), and our guests raved about the space, view, and location. We could see the Coronado bridge, fireworks from the Padres game, and overall downtown rooftops. The best part about the venue is the staff! They're extremely responsive and were more than helpful leading up to the wedding and on the day of. Funds from renting the event space go back to the library's programs, visitors, and the local community! The only difficult aspect was parking for our guests. Because our wedding day landed on a Padres game day, parking was $50/ car. We recommended that our guests use rideshares to be able to enjoy the open bar and avoid parking hassles.

Had an absolutely gorgeous reception here. This place is such a hidden gem!! Great time with the ballroom and patio (had hired to get lights installed). You have to coordinate your own catering and bar, but overall this was a cost savings. My wedding was years ago and people still compliment on the gorgeous venue!! Only advice: parking is limited so make sure you have transportation, and be sure to use a caterer who has worked there as the kitchen can be tricky. Be sure to get gorgeous photos on the ledge!!
