Hidden away in Adair, IA, Schafer Century Barn is a warm and welcoming wedding venue. Couples can wed at this lovely family farm away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Rural surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere make this quiet location an excellent choice. The team has lovingly repurposed their century-old barn to host one-of-a-kind celebrations. After tying the knot, couples are invited to etch their initials into the wall, making them a permanent part of Schafer's history. This picturesque farm has been happily tended to by the same family for seven generations. The team wanted to turn the barn into a beautiful wedding venue for some time. Originally built in 1915, the barn's centennial celebration seemed like a fitting time to start. In 2015, family, friends, and neighbors poured plenty of time and effort into making Schafer Century Barn a memorable and romantic event location. Since then, the farm has hosted lots of couples' magical milestone celebrations. Soon-to-be-weds are invited to hold serene outdoor ceremonies overlooking the pond. The happy couple can say their "I do's" as the scenic surroundings of the farm are reflected in the water. Afterwards, guests can enjoy an intimate reception in the barn. String lighting and light wood tones create a warm atmosphere from start to finish. Large doors open out onto the grounds for a starry end to the celebrations. From the outside, the barn's classic facade provides stunning photo opportunities. Schafer Century Barn has all the necessities for a romantic country wedding. Owners Tim and Susan Schafer put their all into making the farm a truly special setting to tie the knot. Some of the barn's unique details include rustic decor and meaningful family heirlooms. They offer a range of services to help get the big day up and running. This includes planning assistance and service staff for the big day. On-site dressing rooms are available for the wedding party. This gives the happy couple a relaxing space to get ready for their once-in-a-lifetime occasion. An additional time slot is also granted for the rehearsal dinner. Depending on the package chosen, couples have 1-2 days for setup and cleanup. This leaves plenty of time to tie up any loose ends. With room for up to 200 guests, this farm-style wedding venue accommodates events large and small.

Meet the Schafer Century Barn Team
Tim and Susan Schafer (Owner) Tim and I have been married for 27 years, and have 4 amazing kids ages 26 to 7. We have always been self-employed and have run several different types of businesses, but we have had the most fun with being involved in the wedding venue business. Our oldest two children got married in 2015 within 2 months of each other, so when we decided to host weddings for people we had first hand knowledge of what we would love or dislike about a venue, and we have done everything we can to make a wedding at one of our barns be as stress free and simple as possible.
