Beautiful Scenic Views
The Lodge at Seven Oaks is located on 150 acres of beautiful timber in the scenic Des Moines River Valley conveniently located on Highway 30 only minutes from Ogden, Boone or Ames. Situated at the bottom of the ski trails, The Lodge has a sixteen foot vaulted ceiling and natural knotty pine interior which provides a relaxed and private atmosphere. There is a kitchen, seating for approximately 300 people and a bar with a full line of locally brewed beers, domestic beers, wine and mixed drinks. We have ample parking and a very large open lawn, privacy and a beautiful view.

Seven Oaks made our wedding day a dream come true! Despite having multiple employee changeovers, our day ended up being more than we had envisioned. The staff helped us throughout our entire planning process with any questions we had and helped us finalize some of the smaller details that are often forgotten. All of the big things were set up when we arrived the day before and they even went above and beyond by making sure our napkins were folded as we had discussed at our final meeting. They were there to cue for timing of things for the ceremony as well as make sure we kept on top of our timeline throughout the reception. They additionally helped pack everything up at the end of the night making it substantially easier on us and our family to ensure we could truly enjoy the day. They’ve done a great job renovating spaces in order to ensure you have a comfortable space from rehearsal dinner to getting ready and getting married! Sara and her team are so great and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone getting married in the area!

Seven Oaks was a wonderful venue choice for our wedding this past October. Sara was so easy to communicate with and truly personalized our experience to make our day go as smoothly and as perfectly as possible. She made sure it was possible for me to get to come out and practice walking multiple times ahead of the wedding, as I’m in a wheelchair & walking down the aisle was a big goal of mine. She and Shelby were so laid-back and let us have our day, but stepped in when needed to get specific details arranged exactly the way my husband and I wanted them to be. We are forever grateful to Sara, Shelby, and the staff at Seven Oaks for making our wedding day truly unforgettable. ❤️

Can not recommend Seven Oaks more! Sara and Maddie truly went above and beyond! There was not one point in the planning process where I was worried or stressed about our venue because they communicated so well and truly helped with everything! The outdoor area was a huge hit for our large family with a lot of children! The venue was amazing and so gorgeous! I highly recommend to any upcoming brides/grooms! We also did the highest package and 10000% recommend it to everyone as we did not have to worry about anything!

Emma and Sara created a celebration that was exactly what we wanted, and even more special. They are specialists in every detail, and so great at consultation. By the time our event day arrived, we were totally confident to let them handle everything behind the scenes. The evening was faultless, and SO much fun! Seven Oaks was amazing! My husband and I wanted a stress-free wedding and that's exactly what we got. We went with the biggest package, so seven oaks handled all of the decor. They communicated with us well and responded to questions/concerns/requests promptly. The day of, the ladies helped everything run smoothly and made sure everything was in order!

The Lodge was the perfect place for our wedding reception: rustic, intimate, romantic, many spaces to use for our catering, decorations, and guest tables. To top it off the fall colors were amazing and we were able to get some good pictures on site! EMMA was excellent to work with as a planner - she is organized, very quick to response to questions, has great ideas on colors/decorations/timelines. I knew that I could count on Emma with anything. Our wedding day went so smooth and our reception space was breath taking. You will not be disappointed when choosing Seven Oaks!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Seven Oaks...Emma is the best thing about that place. She is knowledgeable, DEPENDABLE, communicates promptly, and is just a delight. COVID postponed our wedding multiple times, and she made it stress-free and easy as can be to change dates and plans. The space was perfect for our family, with basically three spaces for guests to roam; the beautiful outdoor patio, the bar area, and larger space with the dance floor. If I could do it over again, I would choose this venue again in a heartbeat.

I held our wedding at Seven Oaks in Boone. From the time I e mailed requesting information on the wedding venue Emma was very awesome to work with. She was there for my husband and I from the start to the finish. She helped set up my wedding the day before and helped take it all down. She ironed out my dress for me and men's clothes along with making sure vendors were there on time and that all guest we're headed outside around ceremony time. Anything I needed Emma would have an answer to or find out an answer. Her staff was amazing too. I can't recommend Seven Oaks enough đź’™

Seven Oaks is a simply beautiful venue site! I was a pretty “hands off” bride, and Seven Oaks (specifically, their event coordinator, Emma) exceeded all of my expectations!! Emma is a true professional- she’s planful, detail-oriented, and makes sure that the bride and her party feel like family! I highly recommend this venue to any bride who feels a little lost on the whole wedding process, like I did!

Myhusband and I had our wedding reception at Seven Oaks this past August. We loved that Seven Oaks had lots of indoor space as well as outdoor space to accommodate all the guests. There outdoor patio was a big hit for our wedding. It has plenty of tables for seating and is lit up with stylish lights. Inside, the bar was large enough for guests to hang out at bar top tables and beside the bar was a lighted sheet backdrop which many guests loved taking pictures in front of with props. The BEST part about Seven Oaks is the wedding planner that comes with it! EMMA PETERSON is AWESOME! We adored her. Anything we needed she was right there to help us. Planning our wedding with her was a Godsend. Even though COVID-19 and the Derecho in Iowa occurred during our wedding planning, Emma always had our back with it all. She even helped me find a photographer when mine dropped out a couple weeks before the wedding. I cannot say enough good things about Seven Oaks and Emma Peterson. They truly made our day the BEST DAY EVER!

We had our wedding reception at Seven Oaks the end of June. With Covid distance restrictions, Seven Oaks was wonderful with helping us extend our accommodations. Emma, the Event Planner, is simply AMAZING and helped with every aspect we needed. The venue is simply gorgeous the way it is, but added the outside seating area and breath taking view of the ski hills in the summer, it was a wonderful backdrop for family photos. While setting up, the owner even came out and visited with us, and was super friendly and welcoming. Truly, you can NOT go wrong wit this venue--

We were very happy with Seven Oaks Recreation as a wedding venue. It met our needs in regards to providing both a ceremony space as well as an area for the reception and dance. We wanted to be married near Ames and Seven Oaks was a logical choice with its location near Boone off of Highway 30.The planning process was very smooth and the timing for the meetings was logical as we worked toward the actual wedding date. The coordinator (Emma) was kind enough to allow additional viewings so family members could see the site prior to the big day. I was happy the venue had a good relationship with a solid caterer (Lidderdale Country Store) and I did not have to worry a bit about the meal and the company's ability to work with the wedding venue's set-up. The weather cooperated and we were able to have guests outside as well with social time and the use of the fire pit. Very pleased with the outdoor picture options too as the area around Seven Oaks is very scenic. The package we picked was fantastic as it provided a busser to clear tables as well as bartenders for the evening. We are also pleased to have cloth table clothes and napkins and it really helped to make the location classy with the wood decor provided by the venue. Emma is a fantastic coordinator and I was pleased with her questioning process along the way and all of the \"what if\" situations she was prepared for---we did forget some minor things (e.g. dessert plates) and she was ready with a solution. We were very happy with Seven Oaks Recreation as a wedding venue. It met our needs in regards to providing both a ceremony space as well as an area for the reception and dance. We wanted to be married near Ames and Seven Oaks was a logical choice with its location near Boone off of Highway 30.The planning process was very smooth and the timing for the meetings was logical as we worked toward the actual wedding date. The coordinator (Emma) was kind enough to allow additional viewings so family members could see the site prior to the big day. Where do I start?! First off, Emma the event coordinator went above and beyond with everything we asked and expected. She was very accommodating with anytime we wanted to meet in person, responded to texts within minutes, and was very resourceful/has good advice on every step of the operation overall! She really took the reigns when I needed her to! What an asset to Seven Oaks!The visual presentation of Seven Oaks has warmth with the knotty pine/cabin feel along with plenty of space to accommodate any size group with high 16' cielings to boot (Not to mention they provided a very tall ladder to hang my cieling decorations). Never did we feel cramped with our 200+ group! We had our ceremony out on the lush/manicured lawn right by the ski lift which was so fitting for us since we're ski/snowboard lovers but would suit any type of couple that desire an outdoor wedding. The Kitchen was very user friendly and easy to navigate for our caterer. Their bar had so many options for drink choice that it made our decisions easy and effortless and was located perfectly in between a quiet entrance and the reception area - a perfect social transition in our party!All of our guests were so impressed on the venue they can't wait to come back to see it in the winter time for ski season! We couldn't have asked for a better place to host our special day!

We had a long journey with Seven Oaks throughout the planning process of our wedding as we worked with 3 different event coordinators. We loved the middle one (Rebecca) but less so the one we ended up with (Heather). She was very quick to shoot down some ideas with a condescending tone and gave some unnecessary comments. We loved the look of the place- the price was pretty reasonable but things add up pretty quickly and make it not as cheap as you would think. We ended up being able to add on the conference room space but only paid the price of the contingency space- so that was very nice of the event planner to offer. There were just many instances where communication was very unclear or it took many many emails to clarify something simple- at times I felt that I knew the information better than her or that information had changed but nothing had been relayed to me or updated on the website which was frustrating. There was a deer head up on the wall that we had asked if it could be taken down---she instantly told me that it could not because it was bolted heavily to the wall because there was an issue with it and then at the rehearsal dinner we noticed it was gone. I did have to stay on my toes because some costs were updated and then reverted back on later bills due to a computer error. Many of my family and bridal party were shocked to hear that the bartender at the rehearsal was the event planner as she was absolutely no help and was taking selfies in the back while people were waiting on drinks. On the wedding day I walked past her for the first time that day and she didn’t even acknowledge me which I found very rude (not even a smile or eye contact). Also on the night of our wedding we had paid for a campfire and a ways into the night it had still not been started (and it was much after dusk which was when it was suppose to start)---when my personal attendant and I went up to the staff at the bar they told us that she had never said anything about it to them but they gladly went to get it started right away. The staff behind the bar were immensely nice and wonderful, the kept cups of water coming for all our guests on our very warm wedding day and had nothing but nice things to say about our event and thanked us for our business many times. Tracy was a huge help and wonderful at the end of the night with wrapping things up and helping us out.This is overall a very pretty venue for a reasonable price (anything wedding is super expensive to begin with!) but stay on your toes and double check everything and stay very organized.It was a beautiful and wonderful day for us be we had TONS of help from family and friends and that was ESSENTIAL.

We had a long journey with Seven Oaks throughout the planning process of our wedding as we worked with 3 different event coordinators. We loved the middle one (Rebecca) but less so the one we ended up with (Heather). She was very quick to shoot down some ideas with a condescending tone and gave some unnecessary comments. We loved the look of the place- the price was pretty reasonable but things add up pretty quickly and make it not as cheap as you would think. We ended up being able to add on the conference room space but only paid the price of the contingency space- so that was very nice of the event planner to offer. There were just many instances where communication was very unclear or it took many many emails to clarify something simple- at times I felt that I knew the information better than her or that information had changed but nothing had been relayed to me or updated on the website which was frustrating. There was a deer head up on the wall that we had asked if it could be taken down---she instantly told me that it could not because it was bolted heavily to the wall because there was an issue with it and then at the rehearsal dinner we noticed it was gone. I did have to stay on my toes because some costs were updated and then reverted back on later bills due to a computer error. Many of my family and bridal party were shocked to hear that the bartender at the rehearsal was the event planner as she was absolutely no help and was taking selfies in the back while people were waiting on drinks. On the wedding day I walked past her for the first time that day and she didn’t even acknowledge me which I found very rude (not even a smile or eye contact). We chose Seven Oaks because they were the cheapest place we could find that wasn't trashy. We used them as ceremony and reception venue and the ceremony was held outside with the ski slopes in the background, which was beautiful. I say they were deceiving because we were told it would be around a grand total and it definitely was more than that. Also when we put the deposit the event coordinator told us that they were adding a new wing to use for wedding and that if we wanted to use the new room instead of the old one we would be able to at no extra charge, but then when it came time we were told it would be another $500ish and we would be renting both rooms instead of just the one we wanted. Also within the time span of when we booked them to the actual wedding, which was less than a year they had two different event planners quit and I doubt the third will be there very long. The service was very inconsistent sometimes great other times horrible. Also they charge a service fee, which to my understanding is in place of the tip you would normally give, but then they also leave a tip jar out on the bar. One thing that certain guests found exciting was that the bartender didn't check IDs. Overall the wedding came out beautiful and went smoothly but that was through the hard work of myself and the natural beauty of the place. They helped out when needed but I felt like they could've done better. If you need a cheap place you can definitely do better even though it will seem like they are the cheapest.

We were hesitant to have our reception in Boone because its a ways from Des Moines. But, we loved that we could rent the ski-lifts, and that we could have a bonfire. The venue staff are all very easy to work with, and the bartenders were great. The guests LOVED being able to ride the ski lift, and we got some great pictures on it! Some of the grease dripped on my dress from the lift, but Seven Oaks offered to pay to clean it. Overall the venue is very pretty, the people are great to work with, and I wouldn't have changed anything about where we had our reception at!
