Shaker Run Golf Club Reviews
Sarah Wetzel(other)5 out of 5 Rating
My wedding day was a dream at Shaker Run. Lisa was amazing to work with, went above and beyond, and made the day go so smooth. She calmed our nerves and made sure everything was perfect the day of. The staff was also amazing and so kind from the bartenders, kitchen staff, and men driving us around in golf carts as needed, I couldn’t have asked for better. The ceremony and reception were beautiful. I had a very large bridal party and it was so much fun to get ready in the pavilion and be right next to the ceremony site. The day was a dream thanks to Lisa and staff at Shaker Run. Definitely recommend :) Reviewed on 02-10-2023
Tori Martin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-10-2022 Having Shaker Run as our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we made for our big day! Lisa was so easy to work with and so accommodating to make our dream a reality. We had several requests such as dietary restrictions (including me, the bride) and asking for the men to be in a separate building for getting ready since it was important to us to not see each other until the ceremony. Lisa was eager to make everything work perfectly for us.We had many out of town guests who raved about how beautiful our venue was from the lake side ceremony with a golf course view to the ballroom reception. Not having to switch sights from our ceremony to reception was so convenient for our guests and Shaker Run has two very different but stunning settings for both. It was also was a blessing how much was included in the wedding package. We had absolutely delicious food since they have a restaurant with a talented chef in house and a bar available to serve your guests if interested. Thank you Lisa and Shaker Run for the hosting our favorite day ever and making it perfect! Reviewed on 13-03-2023

Megan Neugent(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-08-2020 Hello! I found out about Shaker Run when I had purchased my wedding dress at Blush Bridal (they're amazing, too)! They told me that this place was beautiful and in Lebanon, OH. My then fiancé and I hadn't had picked a venue yet so we decided to as least look at it. We were communicating with Jordan with setting up a time to meet with our crazy work schedules and we fell in love. Not only is this place an amazing deal price wise, but the service was just phenomenal.Jordan answered every single question we had, even if it was a question we asked many times prior, she was also very helpful, genuine, and made us feel comfortable. Fast forward to the wedding day, her and her team were all over the place making sure we had everything we needed. Checking and making sure everything was the way I wanted it to be. When it came down to when I needed to be ready to walk down the aisle, it was getting ready to rain. I thought we would be able to get married outside until it started pouring down rain as my bridal party started to make their way down the aisle. We all went inside and hid in the back of the Lakeside Pavilion (having this backup plan already included in everything just made my stress levels lower tremendously) in the restrooms. My husband made an arch for us to stand in front of during our ceremony outside, but because it was raining it was left outside......until Jordan and my wedding planner went out there to get it and bring it inside. I was stunned, amazed, grateful, ecstatic all in one. Jordan, drenched from the rain from head to toe, comes in the restroom where I was waiting at and said, \"we got it. You are getting married in front of your arch.\" I was so emotional already to get ready to marry the love of my life, but the dedication of Jordan to make sure we had that arch and our aisle 'centerpieces' brought in for our ceremony inside made me feel special. In addition, we had our rehearsal dinner here as well and the service from the crew was just amazing! They were all very nice and super helpful throughout the dinner and even during our wedding. Not to mention, the food was delicious and everything was just perfect. Thank you so much, Jordan and crew!! Reviewed on 19-11-2020

The ceremony location by the lake is stunning, and the pavilion right beside it was a perfect backup (which wasn't needed, luckily) with the same gorgeous view. What really made this venue the perfect option for us though, was Jordan. When we could not make a decision on some of the wedding details, like the timeline or vendors, Jordan's insight and suggestions helped us out so much! Her organization and responsiveness was always comforting throughout the stressful wedding planning phase. It turned out amazing. She was so very helpful. She got us the chairs we needed and they looked amazing and went with our rustic wood theme we had. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in need of a beautiful place to get married. Jordan was always prompt in returning messages and emails when I had questions. on our wedding day we had a problem with our arch standing up because the wind was blowing she fixed the arch issue and decorated the ceremony site for us with the decorations we had and it was more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. she drove us and our photographers to different sites on the golf course so we could get different pictures taken. I have to say she helped make my wedding day so much less stressful. I am so grateful she was always there to help us and this venue is absolutely beautiful. Mary Brunner(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2019 So happy we chose Shaker Run for our wedding and reception!Shaker Run provides a beautiful outdoor ceremony site with a solid indoor back up option. Jordan was a pleasure to work with throughout. She had both indoor and outdoor options set up on our wedding day as it rained off and on. This allowed us to wait for the absolute last minute to decide on ceremony site. Luckily the staff dried the chairs and we were able to have our outdoor ceremony. After the ceremony staff were available for any guests needing assistance to the reception. Jordan worked great with all our vendors, bar service was great and the reception went perfectly. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars was the food. Both the tasting and reception fell below expectations for quality and variety offered. However we would not choose a different venue as every other aspect was perfect. An excellent wedding venue. Reviewed on 07-07-2019
Jessica Mizenko(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-08-2018 We had the best wedding experience at Shaker Run! The ceremony site was beautiful and the renovated ballroom was absolutely gorgeous! Over the year we booked the venue to the wedding day there was a few event coordinator transitions that had us a bit worried. Mostly because the new event coordinator started the week of our wedding. Both the new event coordinator and Shaker Run staff were amazing though! They met with us week of to make sure they had all the details previously agreed on and ensured us the wedding would be perfect. And it was! Shaker Runs staff was amazing and helped every step of the way!We were blown away with the great experience they provided for us. They set up decorations for us, checked on us regularly, and made sure we were hydrated on the hot August day (they set up a water station by the ceremony site for both guests and for the wedding party to have during pictures). The food was exceptional! Their chef truly knows what he is up to and we were very pleased with the quality of food served at our wedding. We had appetizers at cocktail hour and a chicken and salmon buffet for dinner and everything was delicious, brought out hot, and on time!We utilized the Simply Magnificent Wedding Package, which includes alcohol, and we were also pleased with the bar service provided. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about the wedding and the venue!Perhaps the biggest thing though that we were impressed about was the staff. A lot of the staff members were there the entire day, from when I arrived in the morning, until they left post cleaning in the late evening. The entire time, they were delightful and polite! lex veddern(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-05-2015 please save your money & don't even waste your time check out this venue it is HORRIBLE. I got married here May 2015, I cried the day of my wedding because things were so bad. from the owner, down to the ballroom staff, no one was helpful. they promised a whole lot of stuff they couldn't deliver. the ballroom had to be set up by my friends & family, (the director they had in charge of my wedding argued with my husband over how many tables we had/needed. he was wrong & then becam MIA as he often did that day & left my family/friends to set up more tables.) rarely could anyone be found to help at all, friends & family had to even set up the ceremony site, Ryan (my wedding director) actually 'tossed' my SIL a towel & said she could wipe them off herself, my videographer had to find & pour our champaign, my husband although promised, had no room to get ready in - him & his groomsmen had to get ready in the bar area which is open to all the golfers/club members. we paid for a full open bar, the choices were slim & the food wasn't very good, not much flavor, & it didn't stay warm enough to even get to your table. the head chef actually yelled at my bridal party as he drove off in a golf cart, spilling the other weddings dinner. \r\rI called several times after my wedding, left multiple voice mails & emails. I never heard back from anyone.\r\rI would honesty not reccomend Shaker Run to my worst enemy ! it is beautiful, yes but it was the absolute worst staff I have ever seen. they constantly questioned my husband about things because they were unable to deliver what had been promised to us. I also attended a wedding in June of 2014, they had no AC in the middle of the summer. they don't seem to have a good track record.\r\rmy wedding was over 7 months ago, so my anger has had time to calm down & I still have nothing good to say about Shaker Run. Jessica Wickman(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-05-2015 We had our wedding at Shaker Run in May. In the end, everything turned out great and was almost exactly what we had imagined it being (except for the rain forcing our ceremony inside). The staff at our reception were great, they were very helpful and attentive, the food was great, and the bartender was quick and kept the line at the bar moving all while making great tasting drinks. We had picked Shaker Run as our venue a year and a half before our wedding date. Over the course of that time, they had gone through two different wedding coordinators and did not hire a new one until the week before our wedding so the sales director was handling our plans and details for the 5 months leading up to our wedding. Because of the changes in coordinators, there were some miscommunications along the way, I had to reach out to Shaker Run a lot in order to have any communication with them instead of them contacting me when things would arise. Ryan did a good job coordinating everything, considering all the other things he was dealing with that were going on with the golf side of things. In the end, he made everything happen that we had wanted. If it hadn't rained on our wedding day, things would have been a lot less stressful and there wouldn't have been last minute changes in plans, but everything came together and our guests had a great time! The venue is beautiful and the pavilion was the perfect size for our reception. We even had our rehearsal dinner in the club house where they served Montgomery Inn BBQ, which was a hit with our families and friends. The only suggestion I have for them is to make sure they have enough staff available on the day of the wedding prior to the wedding. A lot of our family members had to help move the reception chairs and decorations inside because there weren't enough staff on hand in the afternoon to do it, which is something our families shouldn't have had to be doing while we were trying to get pictures done before the ceremony. I'm giving Shaker Run four stars because overall, the venue is beautiful and their food was great, the new wedding coordinator was helpful during our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception, but the lack of an attentive wedding coordinator for the majority of our planning process was frustrating and we felt like our wedding wasn't as much of a priority for them as it should have been, especially when we were spending the majority of our budget on their venue and services. Amy Spahn(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-05-2014 I couldn't have asked for a better venue for an outdoor wedding. The pictures were beautiful, the food was fantastic, but the service provided by the management team the day of the wedding was not so good.\rNo air conditioning in half of the ballroom has yet to be addressed by the Owner. It was 80 degrees! My wedding cake actually melted and had to be held together with straws. We had to change the order of the reception just so we could cut the cake before it crumbled. Again, this has yet to be addressed by the Owner.\rI had special meals for the children and they weren't served until the 3rd request. Isn't the bride not supposed to know any of this crazy stuff is going on? I was in the middle of all of this, which definitely distracted me from enjoying my day and focusing on spending time with my guests. \rThis has been extremely disappointing, so be aware that the management is not very responsive when something doesn't go as planned. They were good leading up to the wedding because they wanted their money, but as soon as they had all of it they have been MIA. \rOne last item that should be mentioned was my wedding coordinator from the Golf Club was fabulous. She was doing everything in her power to try to help get me reimbursed for all of the inconveniences, but two weeks after my wedding she was let go for no apparent reason. From that day forward the Owner hasn't returned any of my phone calls or emails requesting time to discuss my grievances. Reviewed on 07-08-2014
Melissa Voellmecke(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2013 Shaker Run was more than beautiful, which was the reason that we chose it as our venue.\r\rUnfortunately, they are not easy to work with. At the beginning, it was difficult for us to get a response at all. We then found out that they hired another Wedding Director. They didn't answer our calls until we threatened to drive there and speak with someone. \r\rThey are not easy to work with. There were multiple parts of the wedding that weren't set up correctly. We were not allowed to set up for the wedding until the morning of. There was no one to help for the set up, because they said that they were unavailable. There were things that did not get put out (Ceremony sand), place settings, guest book etc. I saw the manager for weddings ONCE on the entire day. (She was also not at the rehearsal dinner).\r\rWe paid for everything except wine prior to the wedding. We said that we would cap the wine at 25 bottles for the night. At the end of the night when we had to write the check for the wine, I asked how many bottles were used. When she replied \"Your wedding guests drank 36\". We had to pay for the 36 bottles of wine.\r\rOverall, I would say that it was not the best experience. It was definitely a lot of added stress toward the end. I know that a lot of brides want their day to be perfect, but they were not accommodating whatsoever.\r\rThe first man that helped us when we first booked, Ryan, was AWESOME. He made sure that everything worked out perfectly up until the point of the switch to the new manager. She was much less \"inviting\" and \"accommodating\".\r\rWith all of that being said,\rThe wedding was WONDERFUL and the pictures are AMAZING. And so is the food. If you can get past the set up and the execution of the wedding, you will be happy. Reviewed on 12-11-2013

Unfortunately, Julie was battling cancer and ended up in hospice and eventually passed away. As you can imagine, it was difficult to get any planning done with her health issues. Of course we understood the situation and we were bounced around to a few other people. Ted did everything he could to help us out and get things pinned down, but it was obviously not his area of expertise. He helped us hammer out the basic contract and get our food tasting taken care of. Then Ryan took over and everything easily fell into place. Ryan was amazing to work with. You could tell that he had been doing this for a while. He was accommodating to everything we wanted and made great suggestions. He made sure his staff knew every detail. On the day of the wedding, he checked in all day to make sure we had what we needed and that everything was running smoothly. The food was delicious. A lot of guests complimented the dishes served. It was a beautiful sunny day and the campus looked gorgeous for the pictures. The table settings were immaculate, just how I pictured them. Everything I wanted was done. The next morning when we came to clean up, everything was boxed and ready to go in the main lobby. That was extremely helpful in making it a quick cleanup. The locker rooms were not air conditioned and the womens was disgusting and that was the area they had for my bridesmaids and I to get ready day of. We had to clean the locker rooms and restrooms for guests due to lack of a cleaning crew. Someone took our cake out at 1030 am and it began to melt and when we asked them to put it back in the cooler they refused for an hour and were very rude. The wedding went fine despite these issues however a larger discount should have been given due to our work without help throughout the day. The holes as well as the porches are great for pictures. Shaker Run was great the day of the wedding, but was a little difficult to work with during the planning process. Our coordinator changed three times, due to some unfortunate circumstances, but Shaker Run came through in the end. Both the groom and myself are glad we chose Shaker Run for our ceremony and reception site! Reviewed on 12-06-2012
Amber Morris(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-08-2012 Worst experience ever! If I could give 0 stars I would. Shaker Run is gorgeous but that is where it stops. We planned our wedding here and after numerous phone calls and emails weren't returned we decided to move our wedding/reception somewhere else. Neither Julie or Julie's replacement Ryan return emails or phone calls. It took us months to get in touch with the general manager to tell them we were no longer having our wedding with them. Clearly Shaker Run is not set up properly to handle these types of events. After reading other horrible reviews I am glad we are no longer having our wedding here! Reviewed on 31-05-2012
Eva Garchar(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2011 My daughter will be getting married at Shaker Run in a week and a half. It is an absolutely beautiful venue! I met with Julie only once and found Julie to have the most kindest heart and wonderful spirit. She set the stage for my daughter's upcoming wedding and I know in my heart it will be a wonderful day. Reading past reviews, there have been some negative postings. Unfortunately, Julie was battling cancer at that time and I'm sure with that on her plate, some details were missed. I have met with Ryan Gilley, the new event planner and spoken with Mr. Lambert and I am assured that my daughter Sara will have a wonderful memorable day. If any little glitches occur, so be it... the actual marriage is what the day is really all about anyways. My condolences to all the Shaker Run staff as they have lost a beloved wonderful woman. Julie passed away yesterday. Reviewed on 02-05-2012

Heather Connor(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2011 This location was amazingly beautiful and exactly what I wanted for my outdoor ceremony. The picture locations were fantastic and the food is DELICIOUS! The only reason I do not give this venue 5 stars is the costumer service. It was very difficult to get in touch with the wedding coordinator at Shaker during planning and when it came time for the wedding she was not able to be present for the rehearsal and was only present for a few moments during the reception. By the time we had questions, she was not available. We started with another coordinator who was very attentive and let go early on in our planning. Possibly Shaker Run might want to rethink that decision as it appears that having only one person to coordinate weddings is not very effective. Otherwise, this is a great location for both ceremony and reception! :) Reviewed on 13-09-2011

Marion Lykins(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-06-2011 We had the pavilion out by the lake and it was beautiful. There's a lot of space that can be used outdoors, but you don't have to worry about the weather as the venue is indoors. Day of the wedding, everything went great! However, they did double book our hall for the day of the wedding for a college honors reception without really telling us, so they ended up setting up all of our decorations. Very stressful, but they did a great job in the end. Wedding coordinator was also very hard to get ahold of at times. Reviewed on 22-07-2011
Sandy5 Wiley(parent)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2011 Our daughter was recently married at Shaker Run. I can only offer our experience----AWFUL!!! If you are planning a smaller wedding, don't believe for a minute, that Julie will be of help. She was rude, avoided phone calls, not professional in dealing with people, and not helpful!! It is obvious that Shaker Run caters to the huge \"money making\" weddings. We were treated poorly, meaning, when time to get ready, we were placed in the back, kind of looked like a place where men gather to go hunting! It was junky, dirty, no mirror for everyone to get ready, no air conditioning, and we were left to \"fend for ourselves!\" This is just a summary of the awful treatment. I would be happy to go into further detail, if someone feels they are considering using this facility, and give you our experience! The summary----Think Twice!!!!!! Reviewed on 16-06-2011
Erica Peterson(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2011 After reading many rave reviews I was expecting both a spectacular location and spectacular service. The location is in fact GORGEOUS, but the service was appalling. Got married here on 6/11/11\r\rI had a small wedding (less than 50 people) so we opted to have the reception in the restaurant at the club house. We were told this would be absolutely fine. However, there was another (MUCH larger) wedding they booked for the same day that wanted the restaurant for their dance floor. So we got moved to the pavilion, which is much too large for a group our size but they were not going to charge extra for it, so we tried to make the best of it. \r\rI ended up going in for three different food tastings and every time I was told AFTER I got there the food I had chosen would not work out for one reason or another. (Couldn't have a plated dinner in the pavilion, certain dishes didn't work well on a buffet, etc.) Awesome. Because of all the confusion and the lack of communication on Shaker's end we decided to have our reception elsewhere.\r\rAlso, I think it should be noted how very disappointed I was in the event coordinator, her attention, and her service. I have noticed others have absolutely RAVED about her so I was expecting amazing service. What I got was anything but. Once she found out how small our wedding would be and that we were not going to be including alcohol with the meal she suddenly became very uninterested in us. My husband and I had a horrible time getting a call or email back from her, which made no sense because she LIVES on her Blackberry. There were numerous times where my husband, my parents, and myself would meet with her and she would be in mid sentence, stop what she was doing, and check her email/text messages because her phone went off. I find this exceptionally rude. This is a huge part of why we moved the reception. \r\rFinally, the day of my wedding she was no where to be found. She would see one of us looking for her and literally run the other way. There was the other wedding that took place two hours before ours and was supposed to be cleared out no later than half an hour before ours was to begin. We found out from the groom of the other wedding she NEVER told the other party that our wedding was to follow that closely. There were still people from that wedding milling around the site, plus that bride and groom were still getting their pictures taken. But again, I suppose a 250 person wedding made mine seem unimportant.\r\rFinally, we were told the locker rooms in the main clubhouse would be cleared out by the other party by a certain time for us. When we arrived (30 minute late) their things were still EVERYWHERE. Once we cornered the event coordinator, we were informed she decided to put us in the locker rooms of the old club house. We get in there and find it is DISGUSTING. Junk everywhere, the locker room itself was TINY and obviously had not been cleaned in a VERY long time. And did I mention there was NO air conditioning?? It was a 90 degree day. Only one large room still had air that worked so my bridesmaids and I had to get ready in a large room surrounded by windows. So much for any privacy. Because of all the confusion, the moving around, and the waiting for the other wedding to leave I missed out on pictures of me getting ready and into my dress, being able to relax, and being able to enjoy myself. The tears I shed before my wedding were not from happiness, but disappointment and regret from choosing Reviewed on 14-06-2011
Melissa Patrick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-02-2011 I can not give enough praise for Julie and the staff at Shaker Run Golf Club. From the very first phone call I knew I wanted to have my reception here because of how helpful Julie was and how professional. From the day I booked until even after the reception was over I have been happy with Shaker Run and Julie. The night was perfect and the food was amazing. The entire staff was professional and helped to make our evening perfect. The value was great as well. I also loved the pictures we got with our photographer because of the great scenery.
