A Tropical Wedding in NE Ohio
Booking now for 2025. Two dates available for 2024: August 24, 2024 & September 21, 2024 Imagine this: You step onto plush grass that feels cool to the touch under your bare feet. The wind is blowing gently off what appears to be an endless body of water that stretches to the horizon. You walk past the white, sandy beach where a bon fire is burning and hear laughter as friends share drinks and stories. The twinkling lights, music, and dancing beckons you towards a Tiki bar where a bartender is serving up fizzy drinks and fun cocktails. You stop. You soak in this moment. You smile as you run towards the dance floor and realize: this is my wedding day. Beauty abounds at Shangri-La no matter the day or season, but we like to think that the our sunsets are second to none. As the sun begins to slowly set it gives way to a kaleidoscope of orange, red, and pink hues that are cast upon the lake. Shangri-La transforms into something you would find only in a fairy tale.

I'm a wedding photographer (Beck Photo Co) and have photographed MANY weddings at Shangri-La. It is truly one of the most magical places. Every wedding I photograph there is so beautiful. The lake, the beach, the grounds, pontoon boat, the island...I could go on forever. And the sunsets! Oh my gosh, they are unbelievable. But what really takes this place over the top is the owners and the staff. They are the absolute best people to work with. So kind and accommodating to all of their couples. They really go above and beyond for everyone. I couldn't more highly recommend a venue. You will have an amazing experience if you get married at Shangri-La!

Pam and Rod are top notch and made my wedding a night to never forget. They went above and beyond with my vendors and made sure the night went perfectly. I couldn’t say enough great things about the owners and this venue. I still have guests tell me this wedding had the most unique and beautiful setting. We felt like we were on a beach in Hawaii with the tiki bar and fire pit. Everything was customizable and if you didn’t have a vendor in mind, Pam and rod will steer you in the right direction. Lastly, the boat rides throughout the reception were a HUGE hit. I would highly recommend this awesome venue to anybody looking for a fun, romantic wedding!! ❤️

This is a great venue!!! I cannot say enough good things about Shangri-La. The owners and staff are amazing and extremely helpful. There is so much to do at this venue, from the boat rides, to the games and dance floor, there will be something for all of your guests. Pam and Rod are truly kind people who want to give you the best day ever. They treat you like family and we cannot thank them enough for all of their kindness. The property is gorgeous and includes multiple rooms to get ready, a kitchen, and a lake house for your bridal party to stay in. If you are even thinking about booking this venue don't hesitate... you will not be disappointed!!!

We had our wedding at Shangri-La in 2019. I can't say enough good things about the venue, Rod & Pam, and the rest of the staff. They made our wedding dreams come true and were so easy to work with. Any questions or concerns, they were just a call away to help. I recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a venue for their wedding or other large gatherings. The number of compliments we get on the wedding venue still a few years later is amazing, it's a venue that your guests will always remember... and that's all thanks to Rod & Pam! They're the BEST!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding here over the summer and words can’t even express how amazing this venue was. The pictures can’t even speak for it either. The landscape is beautiful, the sunset on the wedding day was breathtaking. The owners Pam and Rod are amazing. They truly cared about how their facility became the perfect place for the special day. I couldn’t say enough wonderful things about these amazing people, but the venue itself is also spectacular. This is the perfect place to celebrate with family and friends.

Amazing wedding venue!! I was the maid of honor in my best friend’s wedding last summer and the venue exceeded my expectations! The property is beautiful and you feel as if you are on a tropical island when you are there. The owners are extremely professional and accommodating. They are very hard workers and make the entire experience stress-free for everyone involved! I cannot recommend this venue enough if you are looking to have an outdoor ceremony and/or reception.

We had a big wedding and the owners were very accommodating and helpful the whole time. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather for the island ceremony, but a monsoon for the reception. Pam & Rod kept me calm and told me, let’s just dance in the rain. It was one of the most fun & memorable weddings all the guests have been too (so they say) :) The landscape is beautiful and perfect for pictures at any spot. You’re picking the right place if you choose Shangri-La Event Center.

This event center is truly one of a kind! The entire grounds are beautiful, if you are looking for an outdoor venue this will exceed your expectations! My husband and I got married here this past summer and it was everything we dreamed of. The owners are great, easy to work with and very accommodating to your needs. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Meet the Shangri-La II Event Center Team
Rod and Pam Zeigler (Owner) Rod and Pam along with Pam’s parents Bill and Adele Sohm ran a water ski center for over 30 years. During that time several weddings were held at the lake. Recent renovations and the addition of a 100’ x 50’ clear span tent and grounds upgrades have moved the center to a tropical wonderland. Shangri-La is now a family owned and run venue. Accommodations on site are now available, The Lake House (sleeps 8); The Cabin (sleeps 6)Today Shangri-La is a full service event center that hosts weddings and events from mid-May through mid-October.
