We had our wedding at Shephard's Beach and I would highly recommend this venue. We looked at a lot of venues in the area and this was by far the best value. They block off a portion of the beach so you don't have to worry about random people in your pictures. The pictures we got were stunning, the food was delicious, all of the staff were very nice and accommodating, but by far our venue coordinator, Leah was the best part. I wish we didn't hire a day of coordinator, Leah took care of absolutely everything and she stepped in to make sure the day ran smoothly. Leah was extremely helpful in the planning ahead of time and she was a huge reason my wedding day went smoothly. Absolutely book this venue! Reviewed on 26-07-2023

We had our wedding at Shephard’s Resort in early December and it was the most amazing experience from beginning to end. We met with Leah, the wedding planner, a year prior to tour the resort and we were instantly sold on having our wedding at Shephard’s. There is so much to do at and near the resort and we knew our guests would be entertained. Leah was fantastic and so professional. We emailed with her frequently throughout the year prior to the wedding and she was always so helpful and quick to respond. Upon arrival the weekend of the wedding, we were welcomed by the fantastic front desk staff. Toni and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we and our guests were well taken care of. We met with Leah for our rehearsal, our welcome dinner and then for decorating the morning of the wedding. She was always so calm and we literally never felt any stress during the weekend. We knew Leah had everything under control and it was so refreshing to be able to enjoy the experience. Our guests raved about the food served during the welcome party and the reception. The staff and bartenders were exceptional. We loved our entire wedding weekend and we can’t wait to return. We would highly recommend Shephard’s!! Reviewed on 17-01-2024

Run Don't Walk Past Shephard's Resort. So much went wrong with my vow renewal at Shephard's Resort. Let's dive into it. The morning of my vow renewal, I arrived at Shephard's to check in, and no one could find my reservation. The front desk lady had the audacity to ask me if I was sure my event was today. By this point, I am mortified. My bridesmaids start coming in from the car to check on me, and I'm panicking, but I'm trying to downplay the situation because I was so embarrassed. After over 30 minutes to an hour, the staff finally realized someone (event coordinator) had checked us in the day before. How were we supposed to get a key or know we had been checked in without communication. Also, the events coordinator was MIA at this time. Then, we check the Wave Room, and it's not set up yet at 11:30 a.m. they are still rolling tables out. We get up to the room and drop our dresses off, and the room smells like musty mold. With the chaos of checking in, we are running late to the salon. It caused a domino effect all day. We end up in a bit of traffic. Things happen, right? Instead of the coordinator easing the stress and just shortening or eliminating cocktails, she goes up to my mom and starts running her mouth and says, \"No one has ever been late before.\" She went on to say this to my mother 3 times. She had my mom so upset that her blood pressure was through the roof because she would not stop running her mouth about the bridal party being late. The coordinator then decided to come up to the suite and try to force her way inside my room to cause more drama, and two of my bridesmaids stopped her as I was getting my dress on. I was only approx. 35 minutes late. Our ceremony was short and sweet around 10-15 minutes, so it was not that horrible for timing. The ending time for my event did not change, so my being late did not keep any of the staff at work longer. I did not ask to push out any of my timelines for my vow renewal (The Wave Room turns into a nightclub at 10 p.m. any events are done at 9:30 p.m.), but the hotel events coordinator decided to have an attitude all night. She did not say five words to me all night. She was passive aggressive all night. She allowed people to walk through my ceremony, and my mother-in-law had to ask them to please exit twice. During the pictures people were in the water behind us and the photographers asked them to move and one of the hotel guest became extremely disgruntled and acted like he was going to get out and fight one of my photographers. Another couple of hotel guests decided it was ok to stand behind me doing a bikini shoot while my photographers were doing pictures. My photographers ask them to please exit the private beach area until pictures are over. They continued with their photoshoot and ignored them, so I turned around and asked them to remove themselves from behind me. It was unacceptable for them to play their games and not do their jobs because they were mad I was late because of all the nonsense I endured that morning because they dropped the ball. When I reached out to the general manager of food and beverage, I was ignored for almost a month exactly. When he finally replied, he talked to me so disrespectful and never called and discussed the situation. He claims he was there that night, but none of my wedding party, parents, or guests recall him after seeing a picture of him. There was not that many staff at our event since it was a smaller celebration, and everyone who attended flew in from various other states other than my husband and myself. I suggest saving yourself the hassle and going to one of the other resorts on Clearwater Beach. If I could do it again, I would have, without a doubt, chose a different venue. Reviewed on 29-07-2023

Being from out of town made me nervous not seeing everything prior to the weekend of, but Leah made it such a smooth process! Our ceremony on the beach was beautiful and the Wave Night Club was right behind the ceremony location, which made it convenient for guests to go straight into cocktail hour. Patricia Garcia(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-04-2021 Maryland COVID bride here, planned the initial destination wedding for November 2020. Found Shephard's Beach Resort online and met with Leah Herring the day that we decided to book this as our wedding venue. Little did I know, there were not many options where you have a \"private\" area of the beach to get married on. This was very very important to me at the time. The fact that this resort also was a one stop shop for everything else like after party (venue turns to a night club after hours), this sealed the deal for us. Leah was amazing to work with and she was super responsive throughout our whole planning process. We had to reschedule due to COVID for today, April 3rd, 2021. Leah was SOOO understanding and allowed us to reschedule without even batting an eye. We went for a menu tasting the next time we were in Florida and the food was out of this world yummy! We got to bring my husband's mom and step dad along for the ride. We also brought my niece and Leah and the cooks prepared her her own little special chicken nugget meal as we tried wedding food. Leah was so accommodating to us.Just over a couple months ago, my husband and I found out that we were expecting our first child. The anxiety of COVID along with our doctors recommendations unfortunately meant we had to cancel our rescheduled wedding all together. Leah again was SOOO understanding and let us out of the contract. She wished us well wishes for our future baby! She was super helpful and communicative throughout the whole planning process and really made me feel comfortable about having our wedding here from the start! I wish we got to use this venue and her services in the end, but know we will be using her in a few years for our vow renewal ceremony in Clearwater. Reviewed on 04-04-2021

Alexiss Sylvester(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-05-2014 The brunch was held at this hotel. With drinks it was about $35 a head including gratuity. The spread was amazing. We had crab legs, prime rib, chicken, pasta, salad, and a large variety of breakfast foods and dessert. The only down fall was the hotel was under construction so we had to have the brunch in the night club because the dinning area was not finished. Also, if you book rooms with them through other hotel services like hotline or priceline be sure to read all the disclaimers. We were screwed on money because we called the hotel to cancel rooms, but when we got there we found out they were never canceled and that we had to deal with our booking company. (Which in the terms it said to call the hotel to deal with any cancellations.) Other than that small dilemma the hotel was great and so was the staff. Everyone must know this is a party hotel. So unless you like guest singers every night and young kids screaming shots down the hall at 3am, I would say stay somewhere more quiet. But if you like the craziness this is your place! Just wanted everyone to be warned. Reviewed on 25-06-2014

Corinne Rehmann(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-05-2013 If you want your wedding your way, don't have it here. our first issue arose when about 4 months before our wedding, I received an email stating that there was construction at the resort, they would have less rooms available so I couldn't reserve a block for my traveling guests. the place looked a a war zone pulling up. there was no construction near the actual wedding site so they would not let me cancel or get out of my contract with them and claimed they had no idea when they booked the wedding this was going to happen. so I was stuck having my wedding there or loosing out on thousands in deposits they already had. \rthe wedding coordinator and staff at the resort were very rude. the coordinator made me feel like I was an inconvenience. she wanted me to have my rehersal the day of my wedding so she wouldn't have to stay late the night before. things had to be done her way and on her time schedule. they cram a ton of weddings in at once so if you want to feel special, unique or have any break to what works for them, dont have your wedding here. \rshe would not allow anyone to decorate until 30 min prior to my ceremony so my florist and freinds could not set up for me. an hour before my ceremony I had to scramble to find people to show her staff how to set things up cuz she wouldn't take time before to be shown or let the people I hired in to get it done. \rshe also wanted me to start my ceremony prior to my husbands parents arrival, (as they had to go get my father in-law from the hospital so he could be there). \rmany of my guests also commented on having problems with desk staff, waiters, etc. \rin the end I think the guests had a good time and the wedding was beautiful but they were so unaccommodating and made the day way more stressful on me than needed. \rthe hotel was also very loud. some of my guests complained of the noise from the night club. my specific room wasn't an issue but i could hear every word and sound from the neighboring room which kept me up most of the night. \rif you don't mind lining up like vegas for a beach wedding then this place will be fine but if you want any say in your wedding details, don't have your wedding here Reviewed on 28-05-2013
Christine Noel(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-04-2013 We had our wedding at Shephard's in April 2013. The wedding took place on their small private beach area (65 guests). The reception was held in the Wave Nightclub. Food was excellent, Sharyn, the catering manager, was also our officiant. She was a joy to work with and very experienced and good at her job. The food at our reception was VERY tasty. Many guest commented on how much they enjoyed the food. Our rehearsal dinner was also at Shephard's (40 guests) in the pavilion next to the Tiki Bar. The whole experience was top notch. Just keep in mind that this is an entertainment hotel and has loud music at night. Many of our guests liked this as we would hang out together listening to music at the Tiki Bar. If you have guests who go to bed early, you may want to have them stay at one of the hotels next door. Kimberly Gump(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-02-2013 I absolutely loved Shephard's as a venue for the wedding. The staff was great helping to plan and arranging the details. The Wave Room was amazing and the food was pretty good too. The only negative part of the experience is this is where we stayed prior to the wedding and the room they rented to us (mind you we did this almost a year in advance) was directly above the Club. My wedding was on a Sunday, and Saturday night the club was so loud the bass in the music was actually rattling the appliances in the room. This is an amazing place to have the wedding, but I highly recommend staying somewhere else as the hotel staff's response was \"This is a night club hotel, deal with it\" even though we had spent nearly $10,000 on a wedding there... If it was not for the hotel stay Shephard's would have had 5 stars. Reviewed on 21-03-2013
