Katherine Cook(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-06-2015 I had been in contact with Kasey at Sheraton for a little under a month. I am a school teacher so getting out to venues on my schedule can be a little difficult. I had informed her of my June wedding date several times through many email conversations and we had a Saturday afternoon tour scheduled. I showed up with my mom at the gorgeous hotel. I was already very excited. I had to call to let her know we were there because it was busy due to check in time. When she came out to greet us, one of the first things she asked was what was your wedding date again? \rI reminded her it was for June 20th and she said oh well that date is filled up but I can show you the smaller ballroom we have available. I was only interested in the villa. I was very disappointed that was the whole reason we were there. My mom asked when it was book and she stated earlier in the week. My question was, then why would you still have me come look at a reception site already booked?\rI figured we were already there maybe I could be blown away and convinced to move my wedding a weekend back. She starts to walk us out to the site and the entire time she is walking a good 50-75 feet ahead of us, not talking, not explaining things, nothing! Like she had more important things to be doing. We take the LONG walk from the hotel to the villa (quietly) and see that it is much prettier in pictures than in real life. She tells us what comes with and then everything else was \"could hire someone to...\". We then asked about the restrooms and they were at the bottom of the hill, none were located in the facility. Which if you're in heels would be a bear! I was getting more and more irritated by the minute. She did not seem like she wanted to show us the facility or \"paint the wedding picture\" as many other vendor have. I finally asked if there was a minimum and this was the final nail in the coffin, $8500. For what you get that is extremely overpriced. If you look at their menu online, everything is additional. You can only do buffet style service and I do not believe the venue is worth that investment for my sized wedding 50+. \rHopefully other brides will not be blinded by the pretty pictures online and will have a better experience than I did.\r**Hint: Friday minimum was 6500 and Sundays was 5500. Just a little hint. Reviewed on 15-12-2014
Caroline Ward(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2019 The Sheraton Hotel did a great job with my wedding receeption! If you think the pricing is a bit steep (at least $44 per person, not including alcohol), I think that is overridden with all the \"extras\" they provide. I didn't have to worry about renting napkins or forks or anything for that matter because the hotel did all of that for me. The cake cutting service is included in your fee as well as the champagne for the toasts. Besides food and alcohol, everything else you could need is pretty much available and at no additional charge. The ballroom was wonderful and plenty big, the cocktail hour area is PERFECT, there is complimentary parking for wedding guests as well as valet parking that you have to pay for. There is a discount on hotel rooms for guests if you set up a wedding hotel block in your name. You are able to have a food tasting at no additional charge, and the staff there is great! I would recommend this venue to anyone! Reviewed on 10-08-2014
Lea (bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-05-2014 We went to about 10 different venues, but as soon as I went to the Sheraton and saw Plaza on the Hill I knew this was where I wanted to have my wedding. It was convenient since it was right next to the airport and a hotel and was a unique space for a wedding. The staff we pleasant to work with and everything went perfectly! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique wedding space with the convenience of a hotel right across the pool! Reviewed on 12-06-2014
Betty Hernandez(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-12-2012 I got married December 22, 2012. The whole day was amazing! We had our reception at Plaza on the Hill, at the Sheraton. Everything was beautiful. The food was pretty good and the wedding coordinator did a fantastic job! The only down side.. you do not get to keep the food you paid for. Reviewed on 10-01-2013
Amanda Wood(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2012 I had my wedding ceremony at the outdoor gazebo and then the reception inside at the Plaza on the Hill. Jill was my primary contact in planning everything. Overall the wedding went off pretty well and I was happy. I have broken my comments into the wonderful , average and the not so good. Even though the bad is lengthier than the good the bad were only minor things.\r\rThe Wonderful The venue is beautiful. I got a lot of comments from my guests saying what a perfect place it was to have a wedding. You have the feeling of the outdoors without the Texas heat. The food was amazing and the bartender did a good job of keeping up with the drink orders. \r\rThe average. Jill was very polite and professional and usually pretty prompt to respond to emails. However she didn’t seem to be very organized. When we went in for our tasting she had mixed up some of the paperwork in the files because she was asking me about an event planner that had nothing to do with me or my wedding. Also I don’t think she took detailed enough notes because there were several times where I had to give her the same information twice. My suggestion is that you get everything in writing and make sure to look over all the paperwork and have everything included in detail. I had to have Jill revise my paperwork multiple times before it was correct.\r\rThe not so good. My wedding was on the same day as a Ranger’s game. This created major parking issues because the Sheraton Hotel allows baseball fans to park in their parking lot. Jill assured me that parking wouldn’t be an issue that they would block off enough space for my wedding guests to park. However on the day of the wedding several of my guests couldn’t find a parking spot because the lot was full and had to pay to valet park. \r\rAnother issue was that we had picked out two signature drinks a watermelon margarita and an apple breeze. On the day of the wedding we were informed that they didn’t have the ingredients to make the watermelon margarita and so they substituted a strawberry margarita instead. The strawberry wasn’t very good. It was way too sweat which is why I had chosen the watermelon to begin with. Another thing about the drinks is that several guests said that the signatures drinks were pretty weak. I sort of expect this but at $9 a drink one would hope they would have been more generous with the alcohol to make it worth the price.\r\rFinally dealing with the accounting department was a nightmare. I put my credit card on file when I signed the contract so they could automatically charge my card for all the installment payments. The accounting department never charged my card until I called to remind them to charge it and still it usually took them a few days to get around to it after my reminder. However, when it came time for the final payment after the event was over they were very prompt. So prompt in fact that they didn’t give a copy of the final bill before charging it even though I had specifically asked Jill for a copy of the bill before they charged my card. They charged my card on May 30th and on June 4th after 5 phone calls and two emails I finally received a copy of the final bill. Reviewed on 13-06-2012
