Kirstie Essman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-10-2020 Just unreal amazing. Our wedding was originally supposed to be at 1 Hanover, but when COVID hit, we couldnât get married indoors. Kevin, Nikki and the team were unbelievably accommodating and moved our wedding, same date but with 50 guests, to his new location at The View at Battery Park. Absolutely stunning views, amazing food, and we felt incredibly cared for. Nikki was amazing day-of at asking if we needed anything. We couldnât have been happier. Megan Dishman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-04-2019 My husband and I got married on April 26, 2019 at the India House. I dragged my feet writing this review because I wanted to get down as many details as possible! Our wedding was everything we hoped for and more, thanks to this incredible venue. The service. Kevin and his team were radically hospitable, granting any and every request we threw his way. From the initial walk-through, to tasting the food, to proclaiming our vows, Kevin was beyond hospitable and a joy to work with. His team moved furniture, helped us build the perfect environment, supplied beer as requested, and even threw in our favorite treat, pigs-in-a-blanket, even though it wasn't on the menu. From little things like making sure my dress was straight when I walked down the aisle to preparing a private table of the food and drink for my husband and I to enjoy immediately following the ceremony, this venue was full service and consistently helpful. Being a professional event planner in NYC myself, I noticed Kevin's event expertise and genuine care of our event right off the bat. He cared about the specifics in a way most venues don't - like flow of foot traffic, seating arrangements, and where the band should set up. His willingness to work with us to make our day uniquely our own was pleasantly surprising in the world of event or wedding planning, especially in NYC where they nickel and dime you for everything. Not at the India House. Kevin worked with our budget from day one to make our dream wedding possible, and he didn't compromise on service. His team was far and away the most accommodating staff I've ever worked with on an event that I even re-booked his venue for a work event, which proves Kevin's professionalism, confident team, and kindness. He let us bring in our own A/V company, photographer, DJ, and band. All our vendors complimented Kevin and his team on our wedding day and told me how easy they were to work with. The Food. Our guests raved about the food, drink, and venue. Many told us it was the most fun wedding theyâve ever attended. Still, one year later, we still hear comments about how great the food was. We did a cocktail reception for the whole reception with one hour of jazz bad and the rest DJ dancing. This allowed our guests to mingle around the venue, meeting others and eating whatever came by and displayed stationary.Location. Location. Location. The India House Location was key for us in planning our wedding. Located at One Hanover Square in the Financial District, this historic building in a historic neighborhood gave our guests a LOT to enjoy, from night life on stone street and the famous Fraunces Tavern to Lady Liberty tours and Brookfield Place. Hotels in the area and transportation on all major subway lines worked well for our many out of town guests. Reviewed on 09-07-2020

Bradie Vaughan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-12-2019 The venue at 1 Hanover Square, also known as the India House, was the most unique, inspiring and amazing experience for a wedding that we are still getting compliments two months later. We could not have done this without Kevin Mattner, the person who manages the venue. Kevin is cool, calm and collected in an industry that is usually full of high-pressure and anxious people. He was beyond thoughtful and responded to any questions or concerns with solutions rather than just ânoâ or âthat will cost XYZâ as other venues did. We gave Kevin our budget and he was incredibly conscious of that the entire time, which was a breath of fresh air. Visiting other venues, there is a random 22% service fee, but Kevin was very upfront that the India House does not charge that fee and thereby there would be no hidden fees. The food was phenomenal in both cocktail hour and dinner with fresh oysters (Iâm very particular) and the best coconut shrimp Iâve ever eaten. My husband was a huge fan of our âSouthern Comfortâ station, which had homemade biscuits with different jams, fried chicken and mac and cheese. When we tried to add another (unnecessary) station to cocktail hour, Kevin was very clear that we could, but that we didnât need to spend the extra money. I have never heard of someone trying to have you NOT spend money for a wedding. I trusted him implicitly and the result of our wedding was incredible. The venue rocked with our 9-piece band that was perfect for dancing. Not the typical banquet hall and our photos have turned out incredible. The drinks were top shelf and many friends shared that they ordered Manhattans, martinis and other complex drinks without being turned away, as other wedding venues sometimes do. Kevin provided a list of recommended vendors with whom I was incredibly happy to work. While most brides are balls of anxiety, I was able to remain free of unnecessary stress because of my trust in Kevin, the staff at India House and the vendors he recommended. If I could do it all over again, my husband and I would choose 1 Hanover Square again and again. Reviewed on 30-01-2020
Maya Washington(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-08-2019 India House was the most perfect venue for our wedding! It's a historic gem in the financial district. The staff goes above and beyond to deliver on value and service. We held our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner reception there and also worked with Masterpiece Caterers for our welcome party the night before at Sky55. You won't need to do much for decoration given the natural charm and dynamic spaces available for use. The food was also a big hit with our guests. Highly recommended! Reviewed on 02-01-2020
Dakota Kolbenheyer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 I have taken way too long to write this review because I've been struggling with how to describe such an incredible experience. First, I will say that the primary reason we chose India House was because of Kevin. That's not to take away ANYTHING from the venue because its incredibly beautiful and unique. It's just that we both knew as soon as we met Kevin, we would be taken care of from start to finish as though we were his only customers and we were not wrong. The man must have several clones of himself to be able to accommodate all the different weddings that go on there with such white glove service. Kevin was the only Event Director to ask me what our budget was and from there how we could work backwards to ensure we stayed within budget. Every other venue contact just gave me a number and that was that. Kevin was adamant that weddings should be about the couple and not just about $$$$. We are so incredibly thankful for him and his OUTSTANDING staff who made the actual day run as smooth as can be. Now the venue itself...indescribable. We spent some time looking around the city and nothing had seemed really unique to us until we visited India House. I remember walking up the cobblestone streets and seeing chandeliers glowing inside through the windows and feeling like I was being transported back to a different time in NYC. We stepped inside and that feeling did not leave. It's beautiful, historical, and so unique for a wedding. We had a little over 200 people and we utilized every room in the building with our ceremony on the 3rd floor, cocktail hour on the 1st, dinner on the 2nd and dancing back up on the 3rd. Our guests are still talking about what an awesome venue it was and how they loved that they got to see the entire building! We had been worried about the flow leading up to the day but it really worked out perfectly.Last bit I want to touch on - the FOOD! Tons and tons of it! There are several different food stations you could choose from but I wasn't really finding anything that represented my hometown (Fl. Keys). We had chosen Chinatown for NY, Mediterranean for Greece (our honeymoon), and we were looking for something to represent the Keys. When I mentioned this to Kevin, he was so excited to come up with a whole new station for us and we spent time going over what dishes could be included. It turned out AWESOME and we had so many people comment on the food. Again - can't say enough for Kevin and his team as this was such a nice touch for us!To us, our wedding was absolutely perfect. We wouldn't redo a single thing other than to go back and do it again as a wedding guest :) People have asked if we have the post wedding blues - the answer is definitely no. Wedding planning was stressful and crazy and we're glad that part is over - we're only sad we don't have a reason to talk to Kevin every day! Reviewed on 26-12-2019

Kevin and his team were reliable, detail-oriented, and highly professional throughout the entire process. Peter OâDonnell(groom)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 This review is for both the India House and Masterpiece Caterers. For the most part, both the venue and MC delivered a wonderful wedding experience. There were a few avoidable day-of miscues, though, that kept them from getting 5 stars. The venueIn a word, STUNNING. If you've already visited, then you understand what I'm talking about. If you've never been there, absolutely go, because it's impossible to capture the feeling and decor of the place in a short review. The decor, the architecture, the colors, everything contribute to an absolutely gorgeous venue. The locationPerfect for us. Conveniently located in lower Manhattan, but away from the annoyance of midtown, you get the best of several worlds. You're within a few blocks of anything you might need last minute, close by to plenty of bars and restaurants for rehearsals, the after party, and other events that weekend, within a short walk of several hotels for out-of-town guests, and right near several beautiful spots to take pictures. We did ours at Elevated Acre and it was just amazing (and easy!).The foodGreat. IMO, food at a wedding shouldn't steal the show, but should be very tasty and satisfying. MC delivered on both of those. Everything was prepared well, presented elegantly, and tasted great. The serviceTop notch. Kevin is very clearly a seasoned professional and takes his job very seriously. Our only gripeWhat ended up being just an amazing and expectation-exceeding experience was slightly tainted by a few avoidable mistakes. Our day-to-day contact missed the boat on a couple of details. She was very gracious and accepting of them when originally discussed, but just wasn't able to remember or follow through on them the day of. For instance, one of our guests only drinks vodka with grapefruit juice. We had brought this up early and were assured that it would be accommodated (otherwise we would have just provided our own), but unfortunately it was not. Another is with the vendor meals. We repeatedly had to remind her that we only needed 2, but every version of our contract/program called for 3. Even our final bill, which we then had to re-remind her that we shouldn't be paying for, since we only had 2. We had requested a card box (which was beautiful BTW) at the rehearsal, but when we arrived at the venue the day of, it was nowhere to be found. The staff eventually found it and put it in place at the last minute. There were also some issues with remembering the final guest count. We had confirmed it at the rehearsal, but it was still wrong on our final bill. There were a couple of liquor choices that we had arranged ahead of time that were not in place when we arrived at the venue the day of. I noticed and brought it up, and to Kevin's credit, he got it fixed right away. But it was disconcerting in the fact that had I not noticed it, it wouldn't have been caught. Kevin very quickly and graciously did his best to remedy as many of these small issues as he could, but the lack of attention to detail and follow through on the part of our day-to-day contact left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths in what was otherwise a fantastic experience. From our very first visit, we knew in our bones that India House was where we needed to get married. The venue is stunning, historical, and unique - a vibrantly/well decorated brownstone tucked off of Stone Street in the Financial District. It's a true hidden gem, which in the NYC wedding circuit, is definitely hard to find! We took full advantage of all 3 floors and every beautiful room, which gave each event in our wedding night a distinct and special feel. The food was unbelievable (the tasting may have been one of the best days of our lives, right behind the wedding!) and we were able to have creative input in the menu to reflect our favorite foods. The menu was far from the average wedding menu, and our guests can't stop thanking us for that!! But the staff at India House is what really makes the venue soar - Kevin and his team are the definition of professional, thoughtful, responsive and wise. We were able to rest easy during the (stressful) planning process knowing we had them in our back corner. Spacious bridal suite, classy antique paintings, elevators, clean bathrooms... etc. As we were speaking with Kevin to get planning started, we knew he was going to be âour personâ for our day. Transitions were smooth from the ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, which was crucial to me so that guests wonât be confused on the day of. After the ceremony, Kevinâs Team set aside mini dining table for the newly wedded husband and wife to have the moment alone and enjoy the food. We had a magical wedding on 1/12/19 and Kevin and Nikki were our support system from the start. Never in my career (of PR and event planning) have I experienced such service. From the first meeting to the last, they provided real-time answers/suggestions and provided hand holding when needed. Kevin's attention to detail far surpassed any of the other venues we researched. We made a decision on the spot when we stepped foot into India House and planned it in four months (again, all thanks to Kevin). Mike S(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-08-2018 THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN LOWER MANHATTAN!!!!!!!! Searching for a quality yet affordable wedding venue in NYC is next to impossible. We went to several venues within our price range that were profiled to be elegant and tasteful yet turned out to be much less than we expected. We were on our way back to New Jersey to try and find a venue when one last venue came to our attention in NYC. We thought, lets just give it a quick look. To our unbelievable surprise, WE FOUND IT - the perfect place - The India House at 1 Hanover Sq, lower Manhattan. When we arrived at the venue, the word \"India\" in the venue name threw us at first but to our surprise we walked into \"Old World\" New York, New York charm and elegance. We were greeted by Kathleen (who is no longer with the venue) who gave us a complete tour of the facility and by the time we reached the \"red\" room where the ceremony is held, we both had tears in our eyes and grabbed for our checkbook. The venue is 3 levels of beauty, elegance and unbelievable old world charm that impressed us and everyone who attended our wedding beyond belief. Masterpiece Caterers is in charge of the event itself (coordination, foodservice, etal.). Kathleen helped us put together a magnificent cocktail hour and main reception menu which included the finest details to complete an elegant, black-tie affair in Old New York. About 8 weeks before the wedding, we met Kathleen for a food tasting that was professionally organized and executed by their chef. I'll just say right now, the food from the cocktail hour to the plated meal at the reception was BEYOND COMPARE! I assure anyone reading this review that your guests will be amazed at the quality AND quantity of outstanding food at your event - omg so much food!! The day of the wedding, we met Kevin who organized everyone and everything from the moment the door open until the end of the event. All in all, the venue is immaculate, beautifully decorated and well run. The food is superb [quality and quantity - beginning with the drinks/snacks in the bride/groom suites and ending with the much raved about cookies and sweets that accompany the wedding cake]! It's been over a month and guests still mention the food and drinks (the rare cajun beef, seared tuna and arctic char are musts). The staff are helpful, kind and efficient. We had family come in from Spain [who spoke no English] and they made sure they had staff that spoke fluent Spanish - and went as far as to have the menu printed in both English and Spanish to make all of the guests feel welcome. Andrea Wilson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-09-2015 This review is a admittedly overdue, but my husband and I of nearly a year have had plenty of time to reflect on our first year of marriage and the incredible party and celebration with which we kicked it off! We chose India House while looking for a venue that felt like a classic and classy winter evening in Manhattan. We couldn't imagine ourselves in a hotel ballroom, a country club, or contrived Brooklyn \"warehouse\" over-decorated with mason jars. As soon as we stepped inside India House and met Kevin and Arlinda, we knew we found our venue. The space itself has the authenticity of old world New York without being stuffy. Kevin tastefully decorates and updates India House so it maintains timeless style. We were married in December, and the white lights, garlands, and soft candles gave our venue a romantic, warm ambiance. Perhaps most importantly though, Kevin and Arlinda and the rest of the staff are true professionals that ensured the evening was executed seamlessly. We utilized the entire venue, and they helped create a time table and flow to the evening that kept our guests moving throughout the building during different phases of the wedding. I really had nothing to worry about that day or night except enjoying myself and trying not to have my dress stepped on!Lastly, I can't write a review without mentioning the food. The meal was really important to my husband and me. We didn't want a dinner that was forgettable or served banquet salmon with asparagus. Our guests still rave about the food, right down to the spiked rootbeer floats for dessert. And maybe most amazingly, my husband and I actually had a chance to eat! Kevin set up time after the ceremony for us to sample all our hors devours and sip champagne in the privacy of our own room upstairs. We would recommend this venue a 100 times over. Thank you to the India House team for making our wedding a truly wonderful evening that reflected our tastes and style as a couple! Reviewed on 12-11-2017

An Vo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2017 We worked with Kevin at Masterpiece Caterers for our wedding at the India House/1 Hanover Sq, and he is amazing. He is communicative & prompt, and tries to be as accommodating as possible. Trust him & the rest of the staff at Masterpiece Caterers to make your wedding day go as well as possible. 1 Hanover Square was the perfect venue for what we envisioned, and it felt personal to us in a way. It is a beautiful and unique historical building filled with art work and vintage touches. One of our guests remarked that the venue is so beautiful, she felt tempted to just walk around the different floors and admire it. We were the only wedding booked that day (Sunday afternoon wedding) and had free reign of the floors.Masterpiece Caterers is a very professional business - it seems to me they have a full-time staff, in contrast to other venues/caterers who hire temps to work events. The difference in service is stark. I've been to many weddings before having my own and saw a lot of bad staff behavior - young, uninterested servers at cocktail stations; a venue valet who stole from our car; caterers who threatened not to serve guests unless they got tips upfront. This made me very apprehensive about my own wedding day, but the staff at Masterpiece Caterers went above & beyond. There was a woman named Sandra who helped fluff my train & veil before I walked the aisle - she saw me shaking from nerves & was super sweet, reassuring me that everything would be okay. We were overwhelmed with gift boxes & envelopes from our tea ceremony, and the staff made sure to pack everything neatly away for us to take home at the conclusion of our wedding. In fact, they had a chance to steal an envelope with $50 in it that we forgot on a serving cart, but they actually kept it safe by packing it with our gift boxes! Very very pleased. The food was delicious, and I love that they work with Financier Patisserie for the wedding cake. We chose something different, a passion fruit flavor, and were worried about how it would go over with guests. They loved it as much as we did! I didn't get to finish my dinner (do the bride & groom ever?) but I made sure to eat my slice of cake. I surveyed a good amount of guests after the wedding and they all raved about the food & service. One guest described the service as very classy. Our memories of that day are still as clear as they could be. We couldn't be happier with India House and Masterpiece Caterers and we want everyone to get married there! Kevin and his staff made sure that we were attended to in every respect. I had done my own centerpieces and they arranged them beautifully in the room, on the tables and fireplace mantle, along with wedding photographs of our parents and grandparents that they artfully displayed. And speaking of fireplaces, Kevin had told us that if the temperature was right, that they would light fires in both the ceremony and reception spaces (at no extra cost), something that I thought would lend a lovely coziness to the event. We got lucky, and on October 9 the temps dipped into the 50s so we had a lovely fire during our ceremony in the Red Room and also a floor above for our reception. There was nothing quite like hearing the sparks of the burning logs while we recited our vows. We decided to do food stations for dinner, rather than asking our guests to sit down for a meal. Everyone loved the fried chicken and waffles, mac and cheese, suckling pig and other delectable foods to choose from. Kevin made it a point that no one would go hungry and even supplemented our wedding cake with additional scrumptious desserts. As a New Yorker bride on a budget, I didn't think I could ever afford such extravagance, but Kevin worked within our constraints and the results were perfection. After our ceremony Kevin led us to a beautiful, private spot along the East River where our photographer took some amazing shots of us with a pink sky and Manhattan bridges in the background. If you love old New York, simply take a walk around India House and Stone Street to soak in that atmosphere of history, original architecture and cobble stoned streets. Sarah B.(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-02-2017 My husband and I got married at India House in January 2017 and would wholeheartedly recommend the experience to anyone looking for a quintessentially New York wedding. I think the venue is a particularly good choice for fall, winter and early spring weddings for several reasons. First, the building itself is gorgeous. The day of our wedding we were surprised with a sudden snowstorm that meant we couldnât take any photos on nearby Stone Street, as we had previously planned. It didnât matter, however, and we didnât regret the lack of outdoor space for a second. Each room in India House is amazingly decorated with deep rich colors, interesting paintings and period details. The staff had fires lit in every fireplace and there were candles everywhere. Our photographers were able to get so many great shots without leaving the venue, and our photos are really unique and memorable as a result. We also had an amazing florist, but honestly did not have to do much to make the rooms beautiful. The space was cozy, lively and elegant, and really helped to set a special tone. Iâve since had several guests tell me how magical the venue was for a winter evening wedding. Second, the staff at India House are pros. We worked with Arlinda, and she was consistently cheerful and responsive. At our tasting, she and Kevin worked with us to make some much appreciated tweaks to the menu and helped brainstorm ideas for a late-night snack option. Perhaps most importantly, Arlinda just gets things done. Even better, she doesnât have to be chased or reminded (something I found myself doing with some of our other vendors in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding) â instead, I felt like I was in great hands all the way through the wedding prep and on the day itself. Finally, I think India House is great value for money, particularly in New York (and even more so if you are getting married in the off-season). The catering and event spaces are phenomenal, and we were able to have access to the venue the night before and the entire day of the wedding for a rehearsal and prep. The staff was flexible and worked within our budget to modify some of the standard offerings. The operations team provide valuable day-of coordination services, meaning you wonât need to hire a separate coordinator or planner if you choose not to. All in all, this place is a true gem, and more than capable of delivering the kind of classic New York wedding that feels like itâs out of a film. We would absolutely encourage anyone looking for a wedding venue to consider it! Reviewed on 16-09-2017

Plus, he provided excellent suggestions on decor and recommendations for how to structure the night of the wedding. Working with him was effortless and stress-free -- especially the day of the wedding! I attribute the success of our event to him and his attentive staff. Aside from the staff, the food is amazing. This is something I'd expect from the best restaurants in NYC. Needless to say, we'll be visiting the Blue Bar there often. Finally, the price is very affordable. It's amazing everything you get with this venue. Between the outstanding food and drinks, A-list service and being able to entertain our guests throughout the historic NYC building (we had our ceremony on the first floor, cocktail hour on the second floor and reception on the third floor), I'm sure people think we spent much more than we did. Our guests keep telling us this is the best wedding they have been to and to me, that's the ultimate testament to this venue. It's a special place. I say experience because it is rare that a wedding venue delivers amazingly delicious food, exceptional service, exquisite decor and staff dedicated and committed to making your wedding exceed your dreams. Arlinda is amazing! She was always there to answer questions or to offer suggestions thru the entire process. I walked into the wedding planning process resigned to the idea that that most food options would be bland, boring or identical to offerings I have already seen at other weddings. I quickly discovered I was wrong after meeting with Arlinda and the team at Masterpiece. Their menu and presentation were instant standouts and after a delicious tasting the choice to hire them became a no-brainer. On the day of the wedding, staff was on time and professional. One of my only regrets from the evening was not taking more time to enjoy the food! I am convinced the reception would not have been as well-received by our guests if not for Masterpiece's hard work. Maureen Martino(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-04-2017 I cannot say enough great things about India House and, most importantly, Kevin, the manager. We got married here in the end of April. So many of our guests came up to me after the wedding, spontaneously RAVING about the site and also, most importantly, the food. This place is a GEM on all levels. The building itself is in a great location and the inside is really stunning. It is the opposite of a \"wedding factory\". Also, it is fully handicap accessible which made a huge difference for me (you would be surprised at how many venues aren't).And Kevin (and his staff) are truly everything a bride wishes for on her wedding day. There is no need to hire a separate wedding planner because Kevin is on-site and 100% attentive. He responds almost immediately to all emails and is just one of the most professional, yet warm, people I met in this wedding planning process. One last thing that I loved: India House is NOT out to \"nickel and dime\" you. The prices are quoted with tax included, and there are many \"extras\" that are included (like votive candles, for example). Please don't look any further and book the India House!! Liza Bulos(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-05-2017 We got married at India House on May 20. Needless to say it was the most important and magical evening of our lives. All this would not have been possible if not for Kevin Mattner. We have a pretty unique story with Masterpiece Caterers in that we booked it a year in advance. After seeing the beautiful space, we looked at a couple of others and knew in our hearts this was THE ONE. It felt right and it suited all our needs plus the price was just perfect. We met with a wonderful lady who was going to be our coordinator/manager. She left the company and we were transferred to another person. When that didn't work out, we spoke to Kevin and he immediately made us feel at ease and handled our account from that point forward. He is undoubtedly the most professional, amazing, competent person. He knows his job inside out and he really cares about the happiness of his clients. To him, there is no event or wedding too big or too small. Each one must be treated the same and we certainly felt that way. We had our ceremony in the Hanover Room and the entire 2nd floor to ourselves for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. Everything looked so beautiful and went smoothly. As a bride who works in events, I was very concerned about everything but Kevin handled it all with ease! All our guests raved about the food and the abundance of it. Everything I imagined turned out better than I expected. Everything flowed smoothly. We had a little hiccup with one of our vendors on the night of the wedding but Kevin dealt with it and literally made a miracle happen. He is always responsive to emails and phone calls and he literally alleviated a lot of worries from an already stressed-out bride. We cannot say enough great things about this space, the staff, Kevin, the food and drinks. Nadezhda Allen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-07-2018 There are so many great reviews already for India House, but I'll add another. Book it now! I organized a fundraising event here a few years ago, so when we got engaged I knew the place - convenient location, beautiful surroundings, warm service, great food - all at a surprisingly reasonable price for a Manhattan venue. We got married here on a Friday evening last month - perfect location since most of our guests work in Manhattan (out-of-towners stayed at the charming Wall Street Inn just across the street, as did we.) Our ceremony was in the Hanover Room on the first floor, and the reception with food stations and various seating (tall boy and seated tables) was on the second floor. The historic interior is so lovely, we barely had to think about decor. We got the one sunny day that week and were able to take fabulous photos on Stone Street, Old Slip, and Hanover Square. Staff was warm and welcoming, and took the time to help us find the right oysters and great wine for the reception. They were also very accommodating to my husband's and guests' gluten allergy. It was all so convenient - we could drop things off early and could leave gifts, etc. overnight. India House and its staff made for an amazingly easy, reasonably price, absolutely beautiful wedding. Sami Hamdan(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2017 We got married April 1 at the India House and I am really going to gush right now about how wonderful the entire experience was. First of all, what a beautiful unique venue! Theres a great history behind the building, and it's in such a cool neighborhood right off Stone Street and a few blocks down from Wall St. People loved the location, and the pictures in the neighborhood and in the venue look outstanding. Exactly what we wanted from our NYC wedding. The Andaz hotel down the street was excellent in terms of location, price, and the rooms themselves. Also, there are some great bar spots to keep the party going afterwards right on the same street. The service was INCREDIBLE. The entire staff treated us like royalty but I have to particularly call out Kevin Mattner and Jonathan Nieves for going above and beyond from our first tour of the building, through the tasting, the planning stages, the rehearsal, and the wedding itself. They bent over backwards whether it was specially catering the menu to our needs, making sure the bar was stocked with what we wanted, making sure our families were taken care of, or anything else we could have needed. The food was outstanding! No tasting menu bait and switch, no microwaved hors d'ouvres, no bland potatoes and vegetables. We ended up going with the rack of lamb and seared arctic char for our dinner entrees and I can't suggest both enough. The entire menu was outstanding, and Kevin's willingness to work with you on what you want for your cocktail hour or dinner menu really demonstrates his and his staff's desire to deliver the perfect wedding. I also want to take a second to point out how much I appreciated their all-in-one pricing structure. So many NYC venues sneak in administrative fees, venue fees, make you bring certain items in from outside, and can really blow your budget out of the water. India House gave us a figure per head and a minimum head count. There was never any weird wedding math, or crazy calculations or secret fees. We were always able to stay on top of costs because of this, and that goes a long way. Again, can't stress how wonderful they made our entire experience. The place is beautiful, and they're always working to make it better. They made everything as easy as could be and I hope I get to use them again for future life events. Reviewed on 09-05-2017

Throughout the entire planning process and til the end of our after party at 2am, India House staff provided exceptional service. Food quality is really important to both my family and my husband's family-- and you will eat nothing but the best at India House! We got rave reviews from our family and friends about the food selections all night, and even in emails after the wedding was over! The location is gorgeous-- we used the entire venue and had a progressive event with the ceremony on the first floor, cocktail hour on the second floor, reception on the third floor and after party back on the first floor. People loved moving through the old mansion and seeing the beautiful artwork on the walls throughout the night. The entire staff at India House is so warm, inviting and attentive, and we could not have pulled off such a seamless and amazing wedding without the support of Arlinda, our Catering Manager and Jonathan, our Operations Manager. They went above and beyond to make sure all of our requests were incorporated into the event and that all of our guests-- from our parents to our friends to our little flower girls, had a blast! The guests loved the India House and its unique character as a historical building in lower Manhattan. The usage of both floors in the space, with the upper consisting of three rooms, offered much to experience for our guests and ourselves. We had a live band that performed very comfortably upstairs while permitting those not wanting to be in the immediate presence of the music to chat in another room. The staff at India House is top class and really made the whole experience a breeze for us as rather stressed newlyweds! Cannot recommend this unique, welcoming venue enough! Reviewed on 07-05-2017
Kathi Pastena(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-07-2018 My daughter and son-in-law got married at City Hall in January, and in April we had a celebration at India House. Our planning was rushed, and we were so lucky to discover this elegant, historic and unique venue. The surroundings were lovely -- our guests commented that they felt like they were in a gracious home, not a catering hall. We didn't have a formal sit-down dinner, but food stations throughout the second floor rooms with different sized tables - large, cocktail and high tops. This encouraged mingling. Kevin, the Event Manager, could not have been more helpful throughout the planning. He was happy to accommodate our requests, enthusiastic about our unusual-style event, re-jiggered the floor plan multiple times as we moved the location of the band and the tables. He had great suggestions, always responded quickly, and bent over backward to make us happy. And he gave us a wonderful price, even including an extra-special food station of our choice. I never imagined that we could have afforded such a sophisticated venue in Manhattan, but the price was right. It was the menu that really sold us, though, definitely not typical wedding food. We had fun and interesting choices -- an Asian station, Mediterranean station and comfort food -- a perfect blend that reflected the diversity of NYC cuisine. Our guests loved sampling different dishes, all delicious. At Kevin's suggestion, we had a late-night station -- NYC street food including hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, and more. This was a giant hit with our guests. And the wedding cake from Financier was scrumptious. I'm still getting phone calls and emails from friends and family telling me what a good time they had and how impressed they were with the food and the surroundings. \"Best wedding I've ever been to\" is a typical comment. I only wish I had another daughter, so I could do it all over again at India House! Reviewed on 04-05-2017

We were kept informed of details along the way and reminded of deadlines as they were approaching. We always felt taken care of and reassured. We arranged to drop off our decorations and have the wedding rehearsal in the space the night before and everything went smoothly. Jonathan was our day-of coordinator, and he was friendly, energetic, and calm. The space is incredibly beautiful and the level of service and hospitality is unparalleled. I would be very skeptical of finding another venue whose staff went to such far lengths to make us feel happy, comfortable, and relaxed all day and all evening. Mariam Manichaikul(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-03-2017 My wife found India House after a search through the jungle that is the wedding scene on the internet. I was skeptical beforehand as I thought the cost would be way out of our budget, or the service would be scaled back to meet cost constraints. Nevertheless we inquired about seeing the venue on our way back from the Poconos after looking at rustic wedding venues to of save a buck. We left a voicemail early Sunday afternoon, and got a callback 5 minutes later from Kevin Mattner (aka \"The Sweetest Man on Earth\"). We asked The Sweetest Man on Earth (TMSE) if we could stop by shortly from when he called, he answered with his rally cry, \"Sure.\"When we arrived, I was taken back with the old New York high society vibe throughout its decor, and my heart was attached to the merchant ship paintings, and the hardwood floors made each step you take feel as if someone important was coming through. After seeing the three floors, each unique with its own aesthetic design, TMSE described how they utilize each area - 1st floor for ceremony, 2nd floor for cocktail hour, 3rd floor for dining and dancing... I loved the idea so much that I began preparing myself for the let down of affordability. After the tour, TSME discussed formalities. Here's where I was ready for the punch in the gut... but it never came. After he laid out initial options and pricing, we saw a glimmer of hope. TMSE told us he would come back with a proposal over email.... from there we achieved an agreement on a package that worked within our budget and delivered key items we wanted in our reception (btw, agreement ended with Kevin responding to our last request with \"Sure\").From then on, TMSE was very accommodating with a moving guest list, tasting/menu options, receiving wedding day materials (pictures, flowers, etc...), and adding a cake after our local bakery wouldn't deliver into Manhattan. We held rehearsal the night before, and that's when we got the pleasure of meeting Jonathan - the Operations Manager. He introduced himself as someone who loves what he does (the truest thing anyone ever said). Jonathan coordinated the procession & recession that evening, and ensured we were in good hands. I asked TMSE if he is passing us off, and he responded with his 1st \"No\"... he insisted that he would be leading from a far and overseeing a variety of functions. Were left in great hands, as Jonathan executed our plans with a passion as if it was his own wedding.TMSE arranged the first look to be at a nearby atrium/plaza called Elevated Acre. When I learned the escalator was broken and knowing our parents would have trouble using the stairs, TMSE quickly arranged for access to the connected office building's elevator. The ceremony went off without a hitch. The reception was everything we wanted and more. Plenty of food and easy access to drinks. We had a cocktail reception format... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS. It works great since it really fits with utilizing the multiple rooms of the 2nd floor. We had dessert and dancing on the 3rd floor for the last two hours... It felt like the best club in NYC for those 2 hours. To cap it off, TMSE let us stay a little over the finish time which really made the guests happy. If you are considering India House and if you are like us which was a couple looking for a fun and relaxed wedding to be enjoyed by all, then book a cocktail reception wedding at India House and tell TMSE that Andrew & Mariam send our regards. Weeks later, I still have family emailing and even sending cards to thank us for the wedding! Everyone felt welcomed and taken care of all evening. They've raved about the food, the ambiance, and the service. They all left feeling like they'd been treated to a truly special evening. We booked VERY far in advance - we first contacted India House almost two years before the wedding (I'm not implying that this is required, I'm just saying we had a LOT of time to get to know these people). We were offered a tour (which turned into several tours) and were even treated to food and drinks at the Blue Bar before we booked so we could be comfortable with the quality we were getting. Every time we went back to take care of some detail, we were offered drinks and asked to stay a while, even when we ran in to throw some boxes of decorations at them the Thursday before the wedding (and they seemed disappointed when we didn't have time to stay!). The customer service experience here is so much more than just the wedding day.We originally worked with someone else at India House who left about six months before the wedding. We panicked, but Kevin called us on a Saturday to go over every detail we'd previously discussed and make sure he knew exactly what we were expecting. From then on, I knew we were in good hands and I think the switch certainly worked out in our favor. Kevin knows his business like no one else. He's seen it all and will offer his observations and expertise without making you feel like you're being judged for your preferences. We were never told no. We felt like Kevin and everyone at Masterpiece Caterers approached every conversation with the goal of making our vision happen, instead of supervising our choices to make sure they fit in with THEIR preferences. We had a few vendors who tried to bend us to their will and it was always such a relief to speak to Kevin. Any time we spoke and I would make a throwaway comment about \"oh it would be nice if we could...\" or \"xyz would make this a lot easier\ Reviewed on 13-02-2017

Erin Kissel(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-07-2016 Out of all the places in NYC that we could've picked for our wedding, I am so glad we went with our gut and chose India House. After originally inquiring about Morningside Castle, Kevin, the GM of Masterpiece Caterers, informed us of MC's other space: India House. Little did we know, India House would be the perfect space for our wedding. Besides the fact that India House is conveniently located just two blocks from our apartment, the actual space was what really sold us: classy, nautical, and charming all at once, India House reminded my now-husband and I of his family and upbringing, which made the decision a no-brainer. We booked the space after seeing it twice (first viewed it just the two of us, then visited a second time with our parents), but were sold on it from the start when we first met Kevin.Kevin had given us the grand tour of all three floors, explaining the history, the decor, and how the space was used to its best ability to host weddings of many sizes. He explained how some features were updated, but that MC wanted to keep India House true to its roots, which is what really makes the space special. As you walk from room to room, you can't help but appreciate the architecture and vibe. As time went on, my husband and I were introduced to Jessica, who would be our day-of coordinator (HUGE perk, when you don't have an actual wedding planner). Jessica worked with us for months on end, answering my never-ending questions and countless emails. She was truly great to work with, and now, post-wedding, I know I wouldn't have managed that day without her guidance and knowledge.TL;DR, our wedding went off without a hitch thanks to the team at Masterpiece Caterers. Two months later, every time my husband and I walk past India House, we are so grateful to have hosted our wedding there - from the food selection (which - unbiased - I truly believe is the best wedding menu you could ever ask, as it far surpasses your typical wedding meal and is outrageously delicious) to the overall feeling of the space (intimate, classic, and warm). Our guests loved it, our families loved it, but most importantly, WE loved it and all of the memories that were had there. All of the planning was well worth it at the end of the day, and it couldn't have been done without Kevin, Jessica, and the hardworking staff at India House. Reviewed on 02-10-2016

Justin Satriano(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2016 India House was a fantastic venue, and made for a spectacular wedding. The decor is amazing, and it made for a really great evening that different parts of the night took place on different floors. All of the guests complimented us on the choice of venue, but it was all made even better by the fact that the staff was so attentive and thorough. The food was good and the cake was incredible. After the chuppa was used in the ceremony, the staff even repurposed its flowers to decorate the cake and the Marine Room. The staff also left hors d'oeuvres for me and my wife when we ducked out to be alone immediately after the ceremony. They are very experienced and they care a lot. I would highly recommend Masterpiece Caterers at India House to anyone planning a wedding. Reviewed on 15-09-2016
Adam H(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2017 They were very gracious with offering us a GREAT negotiated rate for a wedding - all in at $195/person (including food, cake, alcohol, tax, administration fee, etc.) with a minimum of only 85 people for a Saturday March 2017 wedding on the more desirable top floor (typically a min of 100)! We ended up using a different place for our wedding but this is a good option for a negotiable wedding venue. Reviewed on 11-09-2016

Always helpful, gracious and with a smile on her face in answering all of our questions. I appreciated her honesty when I asked for opinions and all her tips. Sophistication, class and attentiveness like you would not believe. Natasha Mann(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-08-2016 We chose India House for our wedding ceremony and reception on 8/7/16. I will be forever glad that we decided to host our wedding there. When we started searching for a summer 2016 wedding venue, we spent hours doing careful research. In the end, we discovered India House by chance and I like to think it was serendipity at work: I had a prohibitive work schedule, so my husband and mom were tasked with visiting venues. One day, after viewing several duds, my husband called Morningside Castle in a last ditch effort to see one last venue for the day. He was informed that the Castle doesn't host summer weddings, but their sister venue, India House, does. They jumped on the opportunity and traipsed over. They were immediately enamored. After hearing their effusive endorsements, I quickly made an appointment to see this magical place myself. The first time I laid eyes upon the mansion's character-filled majesty, I was sold. We were further enticed by the staff's superior customer service (e.g., we were served food and beverage at the Blue Bar after our tour). The icing on the cake (literally): India House would take care of all the catering and we wouldn't have to rent anything (e.g., linens, utensils, etc.).From the contract signing to the day of the wedding, we worked with Arlinda. She was responsive and worked with us on every wedding day detail. The biggest wedding planning highlight was the food tasting. Arlinda graciously allowed my parents to join and it was a delightful evening of palate pampering. The quality and presentation of the food was impressive and the bartender worked with us until he got our signature drink just right. Also, a few weeks before the wedding, with Arlinda's help, we were also able to figure out the perfect spot in India House for the first look photos. That was huge relief!Fast forward to our rehearsal, which went swimmingly: Arlinda and her team had refreshments waiting for us! And they were patient with us, making sure that everyone was comfortable with the ceremony proceedings. Our wedding day was stunningly sunny so we were able to get photos in Hanover Square, along the waterfront, and on quaint Stone Street. Because we had approx. 200 guests, we had the whole mansion to ourselves. I particularly loved that the events of the evening took place on different floors. It could have been mayhem, but Arlinda and her team guided the evening along and made sure everyone knew where they needed to be and that they were well attended to. Overall, the day was peppered with thoughtful touches: Whatever we needed (a steamer, Krazy glue, drink refills, etc.) was quickly addressed; our bride and groom suites were stocked with breakfast and lunch while we got ready; right after our ceremony, Arlinda and her team had an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and prosecco awaiting us in a private room so that we could regroup before joining our guests for the cocktail hour. Final thoughts: We didn't have an outdoor wedding, but we were able to have a change of scenery throughout the night. Our guests were blown away by the venue and the food. We left for our honeymoon feeling like we had the perfect evening to celebrate such a momentous day. Thank you so much to Arlinda and the entire India House team! Reviewed on 06-09-2016
Megan Brandt-Meyer(not set)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-08-2016 My husband and I had an amazing experience with Masterpiece Caterers at India House! We held our wedding reception there two weeks ago, and the staff and facilities were incredible from the beginning of the process to the end.Leading up to the event, our coordinator Jessica was helpful, friendly, and responsive to questions and requests. She worked with us and our vendors to ensure that we had everything we needed, and arranged meetings whenever I requested them so we could visit the space and discuss plans. On the day of the event, Katherine and Alanna, who coordinated at the reception, and their team were extremely attentive and helpful, both to my husband and me and to all our guests. They made everything seem effortless and were always right there when anything was needed. We were allowed to begin dropping off reception items (decor, favors, etc.) five days beforehand. Of course, we ran late and brought everything to India House the morning of the event, but the staff was very kind and did not object to our last minute drop-offs at all and they set up everything beautifully. Masterpiece Caterers' chefs are incredible. My husband and I refer to our tasting as \"the best lunch date ever,\" because it was so fun and delicious. The tasting courses were all so good, it was very difficult to pick which ones we wanted to serve at the reception! The caterer was able to accommodate vegetarian and vegan guests and guests with food allergies with special meals, and the bartenders had no trouble whipping up our signature cocktails. The cake, which was provided by Financier Patisserie as part of the contract with Masterpiece Caterers, was amazing (all three cakes we opted to try were excellent, but the French strawberry shortcake custard cake we decided on was magnificent). Not only delicious, it was also lovely, with sugar flowers in our wedding colors on each tier (I had been unsure whether cake decorations would cost extra, but was thrilled to learn that they were included in the price!).In addition to Masterpiece Caterers' great staff and contractors, India House itself is beautiful. The architecture is classic, with clean lines and high ceilings, not cluttered up by too much decoration. We did not need to bring in outside lighting, because the Marine Ballroom can be subtly lit in various colors (we chose a golden glow to offset the candles in our centerpiece arrangements, and it looked very natural and warm). The building has been recently renovated, and is in better shape than some other spaces we considered. There is also an elevator, which was helpful both for our vendors and for less mobile guests, as well as restrooms on every floor (some spaces we saw didn't have them so well distributed). We held our cocktail hour in the red room on the first floor, then brought everyone upstairs to the third floor for the reception. This gave our vendors time to put finishing touches on the ballroom even while our cocktail hour was starting downstairs. All in all, it was a perfect night, due to the hard work of the staff of Masterpiece Caterers and India House! Thank you, we can't recommend you enough! Reviewed on 19-08-2016
Kerri Reynolds(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-08-2016 I can not say enough about the professionalism and expertise of this staff. They are 100% on top of making sure your day is set and perfect. Arlinda, our coordinator, paid attention to every detail so that we didn't have to and could enjoy our wedding day. She helped coordinate with our other vendors and was happy to take it off our plate. They truly understand that this was not a day for them, that it was OUR day and did everything they could to make sure we enjoyed it and believe me that is unique in the wedding business. The space was perfect for our wedding of 60. The dance floor was separate from the dining room which made it great for our older family members to have a more quiet place to socialize. With our added lighting and flowers, the venue looked like $1 million. AND THE FOOD... WOW. So many people came up to us and were impressed. Our DJ who has been in the business for years and has attended hundreds of venues in the tri-state area made mention of how superb it was. They are definitely about quality not quantity but everyone left stuffed and HAPPY. Thank you so much to the team. We will never forget it, thanks to you guys! Reviewed on 16-08-2016

We booked our wedding the first time we visited! We had a small wedding. We had the ceremony in the Hanover Room and our reception on the 2nd floor in a multi-room set up with dinner, dancing, and merriment! Everything from planning the wedding to the night of was perfection. Kevin and his team are true professionals and visionaries. My husband and I wanted to customize many aspects of the wedding to honor both of our heritages. Kevin was beyond accommodating the entire time and brought the night to life in a way beyond my wildest dreams! Additionally, Kevin and his staff are very hands on and walked us through all the tiny details, so we truly enjoyed the big day. I will never forget the feeling of seeing all of the elements come together the night of. Everything that I had imagined in my wildest dreams was better than I could have hoped for! The flowers, the candy bar, the wine bar, and every detail we had hoped for looked like an unbelievable dream scape. I can't forget the food! Sometimes catered food can be somewhat underwhelming. Not in this case! The dinner was delicious and amazing. People commented that it was an unforgettable meal. The cocktail hour, appetizers, cheese board, were raved about! The seated dinner was perfect. Scallops, fish, and steak cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. We also decided to do TWO wedding cakes. One traditional and one French. The in house patisserie, Financier, again blew us away. The colors of the flowers and details were unreal! I keep looking at photos and reliving each moment. The cakes were also the most delicious we had ever tasted. We chose flavors that reminded us of childhood, and they were absolutely delicious. If you want an unbelievable, unforgettable, and romantic night, trust Kevin at Masterpiece. I am a high strung person. I asked many questions throughout the planning and had a ton ideas. My only regret is that I fretted or worried at all during the planning process. Every item and each detail was so thoroughly though out and tended to by the Masterpiece staff, that I should have relaxed for the whole engagement. Our wedding at India House was the best party anyone had ever attended! Pure happiness and perfection. I wish I could relive the entire night in slow motion and savor each taste and experience one more time. Thank you, Kevin and staff! Reviewed on 14-07-2016
