SKIRBALL CULTURAL CENTER Reviews

We held our wedding ceremony and reception in the Taper Courtyard with the Reflection Pond as the backdrop and it was magical. The most gorgeous setting made even more beautiful by Coastal Event Lighting (thank you Michael!) and our beautiful flowers (Flowers by Lori). Huge shout out to our Skirball coordinator, Monica, who was went above and beyond in every way. She was always responsive and had a positive \"yes, we can\" outlook. Monica provided valuable insights, and made sure our vision was reflected in our wedding and was beyond patient with our many questions and emails. Monica is also amazingly organized and kept us moving forward at a realistic clip. We are forever grateful to her and her positive energy!! The food was also outstanding and everyone that worked our wedding was professional and accommodating. This venue, with Monica at your side, is definitely the right decision. Thank you Monica! Tiffany Lin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-07-2022 We were extremely happy with our decision to have our wedding at the Skirball Cultural Center. Quite honestly, everything went as well as we ever would have expected. Some highlights include:Jenny, our venue coordinator, was absolutely fantastic and of the highest order. She was one of the nicest, most patient, most understanding people we have really ever encountered. She had all of the answers to all of our, oftentimes dumb, questions. She was instrumental on keeping us on track for what felt like every detail. She was unbelievably punctual and responsive. Our entire experience was guided by the excellence that Jenny provided and I cannot overstate how much of a positive impact she made for us.The venue itself is beautiful. We had our wedding and reception in the Taper Courtyard in front of the reflection pond. Everybody complimented us on how pretty everything was when it came together. We had string lights overhead with lights illuminating the pillars and walls. The entire event was outside, something that was especially important to us in the setting of COVID; everybody was comfortable. There are lots of places for great wedding pictures on the campus. The food was great. Although we didn't get too much of a chance to eat, the amount that we did was delicious. We had expected as much from the tasting event that was held for us after we booked. Guests actively reached out saying the food was good. Not only \"good for wedding food\" good--actually good. Overall, we would highly recommend the SCC and would absolutely book the SCC again. Reviewed on 21-07-2022
Shira Artson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-12-2021 We got married in December 2021 at the Skirball and had the best experience with planning and on our wedding day. Our amazing venue coordinator was Susie Remo. The Skirball has to be the most accommodating wedding venue in all of LA. Susie took me through multiple walkthroughs of the venue with different combinations of family members. I have a family member who needed to spend time at the venue and get a feel for what the day would be like before the actual wedding day. Susie would meet with them every month at the Skirball to show them around and explain where everything was going to happen. Susie always responded quickly during the planning process to any and all questions that I asked. She provided guidance throughout the process and worked to make accommodations to make sure everything was the way we needed it on the day of the wedding. She made sure everything ran smoothly from the venue on our wedding day and it turned out more beautiful than I could even imagine. We had our ceremony in the Taper Courtyard and our reception in the Ahmanson Ballroom. Both were beautiful and comfortable for our guests. We were able to reserve multiple spaces that we held in case it rained. The food was delicious and the drinks were strong in a good way. The staff were wonderful as well. We did self-parking and it was easy for all of our guests. I highly recommend the Skirball and thank you again Susie! Reviewed on 01-04-2022
Yen Wu(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2019 Beautiful venue with easy access parking for all of our guests, we were very happy with Skirball as our choice for a wedding venue. The staff is very professional and the event coordinators are very prompt to respond to all of your questions. Many of the guests were surprised at the quality of the food and the Sushi bar at cocktail hour was legendary! We had an outdoor reception that required heat lamps last minute and many outside contracted vendors and it all went more smoothly than we could have hoped for! Reviewed on 02-09-2019
Lauren Wolchok(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-02-2019 Excellent, beautiful, and good-value venue. They were very accommodating to our special requests (like sourcing particular beers, for example), responsive, and good at working with our whole family. We appreciated having their excellent caterer, tables/chairs and other set-up crew all in house-- made planning our wedding just a little bit simpler. We also feel aligned with the Skirball Cultural Center's mission to promote understanding and tolerance for Jewish life in America and to support the principles of American democracy. We had such a wonderful time at our wedding and would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the Skirball! Reviewed on 04-02-2018
Jenny Ta(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-03-2016 We had our wedding there on 3/13/16. It is such an amazing venue. We used Skirball as our wedding ceremony and reception site. Susie Remo, the venue coordinator is the best ever!!! We loved working with her and picked it because she was so amazing, just like the venue. It really wowed our guests from the ceremony to reception. We had a lot of elder chinese guest that are not used to american food and a western style wedding. But Skirball was so beautiful and amazing that all our guest thought it was so beautiful and elegant. The best part was that our guest kept going back to our buffet style dinner because our asian guest don't like plated dinners. Our food was a hit and the venue was a hit. Susie Remo is the best and made it the happiest day of our lives =) <3 Reviewed on 31-03-2016
Yi-Jiun Wang(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-08-2015 Just had our wedding 7 days ago at the Skirball Center. I have the BEST memories from that night!! Honestly, I can't think of anything that went wrong. This is all due to the help of my Skirball contact Darrel de Vera. Darrel answered every single question I had with such speed and detail. He knows so much about weddings. I think sometimes in a day, I would ask him 15 questions, and he would know the answer to everything within a day. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue. We had an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception in the Mark Taper Courtyard, which is already beautiful to begin with. Then, we added string lights and the trees are lit up by the Skirball, and when I saw the venue at night, even I thought it was one of the most beautiful weddings I had been to...I couldn't believe it was my own. Every single staff member was helpful and professional. The Skirball Center was accommodating when we had to change vendors last minute and wanted them to open up a few rooms to view our slideshow. The price for the outdoor wedding is minimum $18,000 for food and drinks, which was within our budget. If we could have this wedding again, we totally would. It was absolutely breathtaking to have an outdoor wedding at the Skirball Center and we're so in love with our photos from that day. Reviewed on 15-08-2015
Jenn Samstag(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-08-2013 We chose the Skirball Center as our wedding venue, and could not have been more happy with every last detail. We worked with Lainy, who from the time we first met with her (a year and a half before the wedding date!) until the day of, was so sweet and helpful. She took care of everything, checked in with me about every detail, and was very easy to work with. The venue itself was GORGEOUS. From the Taper Courtyard where the ceremony was held, to the Ahmanson Ballroom where we had the reception, people could not stop commenting about how elegant and grand the venue was. It was everything I could have wanted for my wedding (and I know it is gong to photograph beautifully for our pictures!!) Reviewed on 06-09-2013
Alyse Larkin(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2013 We had a wonderful experience at the Skirball Cultural Center. The Ahmanson Ballroom was absolutely gorgeous. Also, seating, catering, stage set up, and lighting were all provided by the venue. The wedding coordinator, Lainey Parlen, was a joy to work with. However, they do have some strict rules. The venue was pretty pricey, but for LA, the value was great. Reviewed on 03-08-2013
