South Hills Golf & Country Club is a wedding venue located in Fond du Lac, WI. Set on a manicured golf course with picturesque surroundings, couples can exchange vows in the midst of nature. This property works to create a personalized celebration for each couple, assisted by their dedicated staff and years of experience. The golf course was opened in 1927, established by A.D. Filiatrault with the assistance of two farmhands. It was initially named ‘Takodah’, which was the successful entry from a local newspaper competition. The name was revised in 1951 when the land was sold and the property became the South Hills Club, changing again to its current title in 1987. The property is presently run by a team of committed staff, with Rebecca Turba overseeing weddings and events. This golf club offers a peaceful and quietly luxurious ambiance. Couples can exchange their vows on the carefully tended green of the 10th hole, with views of the golf course, or avail of the grounds for pictures. Should the weather be unseasonable for an outdoor ceremony, the team can offer a back-up location inside the club itself. Receptions may be held in the country club’s banquet facility or restaurant, which boasts high windows and beamed ceilings. This venue allows each couple to customize the event space as they wish, so that they may bring their vision to life. This property caters to all ceremony types, including religious and non-religious events, vowel renewals, and elopements. They can cater for groups up to 275, with their own in-house catering team providing delectable cuisine to delight guests. The club will provide a full team of experienced staff including servers and bartenders, as well as an event coordinator to assist with the planning details. They will take care of the setup and breakdown of the event, leaving newlyweds-to-be with more time to enjoy the celebrations. Items such as tables, linens, plates, and glassware will also be provided. While this club welcomes any vendors chosen by the engaged couple, they offer a list of preferred vendors who they have worked with previously. This includes services such as bakeries, photographers, DJs, florists, hair studios, transportation, and local accommodations.

I had a spreadsheet made of about 300 venues within a 1 hour drive from Appleton and we ended up touring the top dozen or so. None of them could compare to the ceremony location at South Hills, nor the value in pricing. The cost to rent South Hills was unbeatable along with the atmosphere, but where they truly shine is the FOOD! Our guests were complimenting the appetizers & dinner all night long. We had multiple people tell us that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. The portions were generous, and even though I have a hard time eating when I'm anxious/nervous/excited... even I almost finished my entire plate. For appetizers, we ordered a mix of displayed and passed appetizers. We had caprese skewers, spinach and artichoke dip, pork pot stickers, and bacon wrapped water chestnuts. We had caprese salads preset for dinner along with fresh rolls, and then we gave our guests the options of salmon, chicken, beef tips, or alfredo. We heard compliments on every single dish, but the salmon was the clear winner. We also had our rehearsal dinner at south hills and the food was incredible for that as well. We pre-ordered breakfast through them for the morning of the wedding, as well as lunch... again, absolutely delicious. One thing that I thought was a unique compliment from our guests, was on the service from all South Hills staff on our wedding day. We received compliments on the bartenders, servers, EVERYONE. They were like a well-oiled machine- drinks were always full, and every dish during dinner came to the table (literally) steaming hot. Rebecca, their coordinator, also has AMAZING attention to detail. Being the type A bride that I am, I was drooling over her notes that she sent over a few days before the wedding. She seriously helped make our wedding day flawless. Our photographer was also in LOVE with the location. South Hills staff took us out on golf carts after the ceremony for the dreamiest wedding photos :)

The perfect venue for our wedding ceremony and reception! We received so many compliments on the food, service, and views. BUT the wedding coordinator, Jackie ruined all of that and it’s hard to say I’d recommend them to any bride looking. She was very snippy and had a terrible attitude with the wedding party on the day of, which was very unsettling and mood altering for a new bride and groom on their wedding day. We were warned about her attitude and lack of professionalism from several couples prior to booking, but we had hopes that wouldn’t be the case for our wedding day. Unfortunately we were wrong.

The staff at Southills went above and beyond to make our wedding day absolutely perfect! Jackie was wonderful to communicate with and to have her there running the show the day of the wedding, was an added bonus. The club itself is beautiful and elegant-Loved our outdoor ceromony on the grounds and the photos on the golf course turned out gorgeous! Lastly, the food was amazing-all of our guests were impressed!! And thank you for paying close attention to my dietary needs and making me a special plate :-) Best decision to have our wedding at Southills!! Thank you all for making mine and Nick's Wedding day more perfect than we could have ever imagined!! Highly recommend !! :)

Our wedding at South Hills was amazing! Jackie was attentive to all our needs and thought of everything to make sure the day went smoothly, and exactly how we pictured. From the view of the golf course during our ceremony, to the friendly staff, and incredible food that our guests are still talking about, everything was perfect and much better than we could have imagined. I highly recommend South Hills for your special day!

We recently had our wedding at South Hills Golf & Country Club. I don't know where to start! Whether it was how Jackie (special events coordinator) and the staff handled the Covid restrictions, or the amazing food and service, I just have to say that this was the best experience that I could have ever imagined for on my special day! From the very first day that I contacted Jackie, thru the first tour and menu tasting, she was there to answer all of my questions and accommodate all of my special requests! I could go on and on, but all I can say is bravo to the entire staff!

I have not heard one person say anything positive about our wedding day because all people can talk about is how terrible the meal was. As the bride I am sure you can imagine how heartbreaking this is for me. Every time I talk to someone different I hear another horror story. The one thing that I should not have had to worry about is the part of our day that went completely wrong. To start off the dinner it was served late but this is the least of our worries. When the soup came out it was room temperature at best. For the meal we had beef tips, mashed potatoes, grilled chicken, jasmine rice and sautéed green beans. The food at the head table was COLD! Not warm and not even room temperature, COLD. My question is how can the kitchen be behind and yet the food comes out cold? This was very upsetting to myself and the groom. We were looking forward to the amazing meal since the taste testing. What we were served was NOTHING like the taste testing. The Groom and I did NOT eat any of the food that we paid THOUSANDS of dollars for. This is what we received: cold soup, cold head table meal, cold buffet, RAW CHICKEN, and under cooked rice. We had guests get physically ill. I am so disheartened by the lack of remorse I received from South Hills. With your establishment being a banquet facility and this being a large part of your services, you would think South Hills would have tried to rectify the situation better. I do not believe we were provided proper compensation for the mistakes that were made that night. Also, we were never served our desserts. When I brought it up I was told we did not order/pay for dessert. I went through all my emails and pricing that I was provided and explained that the per plate price did include the cost of dessert. In response to that I was told that the pricing had changed which I was NEVER informed of. I went back to the contract that I signed and it stated pricing is guaranteed 3 months before the wedding. I had been provided pricing and did the taste testing ONE MONTH before our wedding. Then I was told the contract had updated since I signed mine. You cannot change my terms based on the new contract because that is NOT the one I signed. The fact that I had to argue to receive a refund for these items is unbelievable. Above I mentioned we paid thousands of dollars for our food; let me explain to you what we received as what South Hills considered proper compensation. I received 50% off 50 plates, as that is how many they anticipated were affected by the raw chicken. I am sorry but if I was served raw chicken I would expect a complete refund for my plate. Also, what about all the other errors that were made? The cold and undercooked food? What about the fact that we did not have a dessert? What about that fact that South Hills ruined our wedding meal, which took away from the happiness of the day? What about the fact that guests became ill? We did end up receiving a refund for the dessert but I had to argue to receive it. Meaning, they did not believe they needed to refund this to us. I can say that my attitude toward the situation would have been much less disgustful if South Hills would have willingly compensated us for their mistakes and I should NOT have had to argue. At the end of the day, I married the man of my dreams and nothing can take that away but this is not how I ever expected the day to go.It breaks my heart when I think of my wedding day meal.

We couldnt have asked for a better place to celebrate our special day. From the very beginning of planning our wedding, Jackie has been wonderful, and to be honest was one of the big reasons we chose South hills. She didn't let any detail slip by, she was professional and went above and beyond what was needed to make our wedding perfect. It poured the morning of our wedding, her and the man running the pro shop watched the radar for us, and we were able to get married outside like we wanted. South Hills food was good, the golf course is very well maintained which made for beautiful photo opportunities, and all the staff was very accommodating. We had so many compliments on how nice our wedding was and we would recommend South hills any day!
