Charming Venue in LaFayette Square
SqWires Restaurant & Annex is a wedding and event venue located in St. Louis, MO. Situated in the city’s historic LaFayette Square neighborhood, this charming property was once home to the former Western Wire Factory. Today, it is a preserved Victorian building complete with both 19th-century details and contemporary industrial-chic finishings. Owner Bethany Budde-Cohen has been a resident of the area for years and strives to create new local food traditions through her carefully curated menus. Whether you’re hosting your ceremony and reception, engagement party, shower, rehearsal dinner, or anything in between, this establishment’s team is dedicated to making it memorable. When celebrating at SqWires Restaurant & Annex, you and your partner can host your special day in the event annex connected to the restaurant. The space consists of the main level and a mezzanine and can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests for seated or cocktail receptions. The Front Room is an additional space adjacent to the main restaurant which is suitable for guest lists of 40 people or less. Each interior reflects the authentic Victorian designs of the building through their 18-foot ceilings, exposed brick walls, and original wood and iron details. SqWires Restaurant & Annex offers mouthwatering catering services for newlyweds and their loved ones. The culinary team is happy to prepare plated, buffet, and station options, depending on your unique vision. Menu selections include seared sea scallops, grilled strip steak, and herb-roasted chicken. Vegetarian dishes, like butternut squash ravioli, gnocchi, and warm lentils, are also available. To simplify the planning process, dining packages are offered and can include bar services as well. For your convenience, tables, chairs, china, glassware, flatware, and other dining elements will be supplied for your celebration. Additional event items such as table runners, lanterns, vases, mirrors, and more are also available.

We had both our ceremony and reception at SqWires and could not have been happier! The space is absolutely beautiful and requires very few (if any) additional decorations, especially during Christmas when there are beautiful decorations already up. Ashley was super easy to work with and very responsive during the planning process. SqWires lets you use their centerpieces and decorations and/or bring in your own, which is a nice option to have. On our wedding day, she helped move our timeline along and worked seamlessly with our officiant, photographer, bakery, and DJ. We had our ceremony in the Annex and then moved to the Front Room for cocktail hour while the Annex was set up for our reception. The food at our reception was delicious! I've been told it was the best wedding food some guests have ever had! Our wedding day was perfect and I couldn't be happier that we used SqWires.

We had both our ceremony and reception at SqWires and could not have been happier! Overall the venue was a great choice! However, a few things to note... The space would be best for smaller parties who do not need to utilize the mezzanine for seating. I didn’t read the description properly and thought we could fit 100 on the main floor – the number changes to 80 with the dance floor. We were also limited to 7 tables of 10 (probably because of the photo booth) instead of 8. I was worried about the guests at those tables would feel isolated from the group on the main floor. I chose younger friends that wouldn’t feel offended like some of the older relatives might. Unfortunately, I was told that they couldn’t hear any of the background music during dinner or speeches. I would highly recommend having a close friend/family member do a walk through before the event. Your contract states that you are responsible for damages caused by guests. We had to pay for a new toilet (including the plumber fees etc) to replace a broken toilet. I didn’t argue since I knew it was in the contract. However, it’s really hard to believe that it was a guest that broke it based on the picture. It was likely damaged prior to the event and worsened over time. Again, I didn’t argue – but I wish I would’ve had someone do a walk through prior since this is in the contract.Aside from the things listed above, SqWires was a beautiful venue. You don’t need a lot of added décor – they also provide you with a ton of options so you don’t have to worry about buying more/bringing a lot of items to the event (and then also taking them home). They set everything up for you and coordinate with vendors so you don’t have to worry about that the day of your wedding. Working with Stephanie was wonderful. It’s worth booking the venue for the coordinator alone. It was really nice to not have to decorate early in the morning when your day is already booked with hair, make up, photos, etc. I heard from guests that the food was really good. They were also very accommodating when it came to dietary restrictions. Renting the house across the street is also very convenient! I would highly recommend the venue for a wedding– especially for smaller weddings.

SqWires is absolutely amazing! My husband and I started planning our wedding shortly after the engagement March 2022. This vendor came highly recommended by a previous co-worker who had used their services for her wedding the year prior. After doing much research, communication between myself and the vendor was a breeze. I was sold on all the accommodations that were included with the package. We decided with an evening Saturday ceremony taken place at the Gratto in Lafayette Park. The process for securing our spot at the park was thoroughly explained and easily to obtain. It was surprising to learn it included the bridge and pond that’s surrounded by beautiful scenery, ducks, and my absolute favorite two swans. This was the perfect spot for our wedding. Bonus part is the venue staff sets up the chairs, podiums, and other necessities needed for your big day. This also includes arbors, drapings and other decorations. The cocktail hour and reception took place inside the SqWires Annex. This space is so beautiful with a romantic vintage feel that includes a main level and upstairs. The venue completely provides all the decorations including faux florals which you have about six themes you can choose from. You can add any personal items if you like such as a wishing well box, signage’s, or pictures. We chose the buffet style which included two salads, three sides, and two entrees which were all very delicious! I’m still receiving many compliments from my guests about the venue space and food. The cocktail hour including one signature drink and three appetizers. Also in this package included 4-hours of open bar! Who can beat that? The best part is this venue has an Annex House available for the day of—all-inclusive! This means complimentary breakfast, fully stocked house such as you would see in an AirBnB, and many last minute items you may need for the big day. It really was a one stop shop not only for my guests but my bridal party as well. Adding this house was an additional fee but it well worth it. I promise you will not be disappointed. I personally added the house for the whole weekend (Friday to Sunday morning). A great way to have a bachelorette party the night before, a place to get ready the day of, and a place for my husband and myself to stay the night till the following morning. I highly recommend!!!Despite having to speak with two different coordinators during the initial process, I was completely blown away by the new coordinator, Stephanie, for completely taking charge and seeing to our vision is better than fantastic! Her communication, professionalism, and eager to please customer service absolutely made our day even more special. Phenomenal is a better choice of words. All my vendors and guests raved so much about Stephanie and her phenomenal services. That’s how amazing she and the staff were. I really appreciate that the venue really connects with you through this whole process. They really want to hear you and give you everything that you ever dreamed for your special day. I keep replaying everything from start to finish with the biggest smile on my face. I can always look back and say, “Wow, we really did this!”. Our wedding here at SqWires with no regrets, only wonderful memories. So what are you waiting for? Please go on their website and look at all your options. You won’t be disappointed. Buyer beware. Carefully read the contract. If you must change or cancel the wedding date, your deposit is non-refundable. In our case, our son and daughter in law got married in Europe, well before our planned party in Saint Louis, and did not want to host another local event. After we canceled our event, Sqwires was easily able to rebook the October date. They offered for us to \"use\" our deposit for another event for up to a year. We approached Sqwires about just hosting a low key celebration dinner on a different date when the couple would be in town, but the terms amounted to us paying full price for a dinner in order to \"use\" our deposit. If you have any uncertainty in your reception date, do not book this venue.

Jill and the whole SqWires team were so kind, efficient and accommodating, even going above and beyond for our guests with dietary restrictions. We just had a rehearsal dinner here and I can’t recommend it enough! The staff was wonderful! Super friendly and very organized! We had the event space booked out for about a year in advance and they had a shift in management during that time. Honestly the shift seemed very smooth and professional. We never felt like they were dropping the ball on anything. They did a great job reminding us on due dates for things! Can’t say enough about the staff!! And I mean the space itself is just amazing. They really have put a lot of thought and talent to making the space as special as it is. And an even bigger plus… the food was amazing. Which I feel like is hard to do for large events. We received lots of compliments!!

My husband and I got married at SqWires this past June with a church ceremony and small brunch reception in their Front Room. From our first contact with Meredith, to all of our planning and rehearsal, to our wedding day, SqWires was absolutely fantastic to work with. Meredith was incredibly responsive and thoughtful, and we felt like we were in good hands throughout the entire process. We were originally planning an outdoor ceremony, and Meredith understood our last-minute concerns about the heat and helped us switch everything to an indoor ceremony. She took care of so many details leading up to and on the day-of that we really didn't have to think about anything but having a nice time with our family! Our reception food was delicious and we got lots of compliments from our guests on the selections. I would highly recommend anyone looking to have a smooth, wedding planning experience to book with SqWires and work with Meredith! We can't say enough great things!

SqWires is phenomenal. My husband and I still comment how they were easily one of best vendors to work with. We held our rehearsal dinner and a welcome event for all our guests the day before our wedding. Meredith and Bethany made us feel stress free the whole way through. As we encountered hiccups, SqWires was always accommodating and focused on removing stress. Meredith was so detail oriented and helped us make decision that stayed true to our vision and budget. SqWires’ service, food, and drinks were fantastic without breaking the bank. Choosing SqWires was one of our best choices!

We live out of state and they made everything so easy for us. In addition, we were unable to make it to our food selection tasting due to travel issues and they made up for it by providing us a meal when we got there! The level of service we got was top notch and it didn't break the bank.Everyone loved the food at our reception. We served sweet chili glazed salmon, beef tenderloin, and airline chicken for the main course and according to multiple guests the tenderloin was perfect. My wife and I stayed at the Annex House, owned by SqWires, across the street from the restaurant and we highly recommend it. It's a beautiful house and you cannot beat the price and convenience it provides.Many thanks for a beautiful wedding weekend!

Selecting SqWires as our wedding venue and reception hall was the best decision we could have made as a couple. Not only did the day run absolutely flawlessly (Bethany and Meredith were incredibly helpful) they were able to bail us out of a failed rehearsal dinner. Any request I had was met with “we can totally do that!” And they 100% could. I was a pretty easy bride I knew the jest of what I wanted but really wanted to make no decisions the day of and that’s exactly what I got. The food was incredible, our guests could say nothing but wonderful things about it. There is not a better venue around.

I booked Sqwires for my rehearsal dinner on 1/7/22. We rented a private room for 24 people. First of all the food is delicious. They even went out of their way to accommodate my gluten allergy and made sure I had plenty to eat. The bartender that was assigned to our party was excellent and creative. The waitresses were amazing too. The sales team was always responsive to my questions and they made sure our night before the wedding was nothing but wonderful and memorable. I live in NY so planning an event from out of town was stressful but nothing went wrong and I was so happy that I chose that restaurant. Guests raved about the event for days !

(If you want gorgeous lighting and a dreamy first look location - book the Park House!!) They took good care of us on wedding day so that we didn't have to worry about the little details! Our guests loved the space and raved about the food! The only hiccup we experienced is that there was a staffing change during the pandemic, so response time was sometimes slow. But just know that Bethany and her team know what they're doing and will take good care of you - she's just busy running a whole restaurant! :)

Where to start....We chose SqWires as our rehearsal dinner venue, and worked with Jill during the planning process. I was clear from the beginning that I cannot have Gluten due to having Celiac Disease and was assured that would not be a problem. We scheduled a tasting, and upon arriving and was told by AJ that everything was gluten free, only for them to bring out Orzo as a side.... which is 100% not gluten free. I over looked this, and we continued with the process. We were told we would meet with Jill at the tasting to discuss details, and she had overbooked herself and was off the premises for a meeting during our tasting time. 4 weeks before our event I sent my final head count (3 less than our original estimate), it took 2 weeks for Jill to get back to me and when she did she informed me we did not meet the minimum, and gave no guidance on what to do next--leaving me panicking 2 weeks before the event. This led to a long discussion with Beth and Jill where their solution was that we pay half of the difference in order to have the consumption bar we planned (and then we would pay the bar bill at the end). Finally we agreed (1 week before the event) to just add a per person bar package to meet to minimum. (Make sure you ask plenty of question regarding what does and does not count toward the minimum). Fast forward to the day of the rehearsal. I again double checked that everything was gluten free, and was told that one of the entrees actually was not (which was also served to me at the tasting and at that time I was told it was gluten free). They did offer to make me something else, but at that point I was frustrated by the whole situation and just ate the other things we chose for the buffet. It is unacceptable to have so much confusion when it comes to dietary restrictions and allergies (I could have ended up very sick on our wedding day had I eaten the chicken--thinking it was gluten free since I was told previously it was). Overall for a venue that does events quite often I was disappointed and frustrated with the lack of communication, professionalism, and attention to details and requests. I would not recommend this venue.

They set up an amazing wedding at Lafayette park with the park house and then a beautiful 2 block walk to sqwires. The food and drink were amazing. I cannot say enough amazing things about squires annex! I had my bridal shower june 26th in their smaller annex room and all we had to do was walk in and enjoy! It was completely decorated just how I had envisioned, the food was phenomenal! We did the brunch package and loved the sweet potato hash and the quiche was a huge hit with my guests! All in all this was a beautiful space, with impeccable service and such a fun vibe!

Bethany (the owner) ruined my event. She was rude, yelling at my guests, and even called the police this past Saturday. She told the police guest weren’t complying with the masks, but police told her they couldn’t do anything about that. So then she said fine- she didn’t want us in her building, and demanded us to leave. It was embarrassing and sad. We had both our wedding and reception in the Annex at Sqwires and it was amazing! My husband and I met at Sqwires so it was special to be able to celebrate there. He actually threw a surprise engagement party for us in the front room so all important moments have been here :-) The planning process was easy and well thought out by the Sqwires staff. We had the ceremony in the annex with cocktail hour in the front room while the annex was turned over for the reception.We got married in December and the space already had beautiful décor with wreaths and poinsettias. Sqwires also has many décor items available for use - we used their mirrors, vases for votive candles and lanterns as part of our centerpieces and tables. The gold door made a great backdrop for our aisle. Additionally, we had a Santa take photos with guests and Sqwires had a big throne-like chair which was perfect! We has appetizers and stations for food -- all were delicious! Our favorite was the risotto from the risotto, pasta and mashed potato bar. Overall, the pricing was very reasonable and we were so very happy with everything.I highly recommend getting married at Sqwires! It was a perfect evening!

There were ZERO hidden fees, unlike some of the other venues I requested quotes from. I was able to ask Ashley any question at any time and never felt like a burden, nor did she charge extra to answer. By the time the final meeting came around I was pretty over thinking about the design and layout of the centerpieces so I just gave Ashley what I purchased and told her that I trust her, and honestly? I couldn't have done a better job so I'm glad I let her hold the reigns. Sqwires is a one stop shop for amazing food, decor, easy planning, drinks, I wouldn't change a thing! Not to mention, it is absolutely beautiful! We also took over the bridal suite that morning and had an amazing time, its so convenient that its attached to the Annex. Seriously, if you're questioning if SqWires is right for you, let me tell you, it absolutely is!

Best venue ever- would ONE THOUSAND PERCENT recommend! We wanted a casual, Sunday brunch wedding and SqWires made it happen beautifully! We had our ceremony in the Annex, cocktail hour in the front room, and brunch reception in the Annex. The space is beautiful with that rustic modern-y industrial look that paired so well with our navy blue, gold, burgundy theme. I made my own faux flower bouquets, centerpieces, and various decorations and Ashley and her team made it all look great! We went with the champagne brunch package and our guests raved about the food and the beautiful atmosphere. Our wedding day was amazing; book this place and you will not regret it!

Best venue ever- would ONE THOUSAND PERCENT recommend! We wanted a casual, Sunday brunch wedding and SqWires made it happen beautifully! We had our ceremony in the Annex, cocktail hour in the front room, and brunch reception in the Annex. The space is beautiful with that rustic modern-y industrial look that paired so well with our navy blue, gold, burgundy theme. I made my own faux flower bouquets, centerpieces, and various decorations and Ashley and her team made it all look great! It's a beautiful space regardless which room you're in, the staff were all great to work with in reserving the space and choosing our menu, the food was EXCELLENT, and the bar and wait staff were great throughout the evening. SqWires food was delicious. The annex was absolutely beautiful and looked exactly the way I had envisioned it. All our guests loved the food. The wait staff was great, whatever I asked for (or didn't ask for) they got for us. SqWires offers a lot of items to use as decor, which is really nice so you're not left with a bunch of laterns or table number signs after the party is over. The only downfall was that it was difficult to get responses when were trying to plan the reception. Overall it turned out exactly as I wanted and was very happy with our reception. Everyone loved the space and commented that the food and space were wonderful.

Ashley, the event coordinator, was so great and easy to work with, and took care of nearly everything. She really is fabulous at her job! We had both ceremony and reception in the Annex, and the staff flipped the room while we had a cocktail hour in the front room in between - which means they set up all tables, decor, flowers, etc. making it so easy on us and our families. Ashley truly did take care of every need and question I had throughout the whole process. The food here is delicious, and it's really nice to have the venue do the catering for you. Also, we barely needed any decorations as the room is so beautiful as is (brick, mirrors, string lights); they also have a \"closet\" full of other decorations on hand for couples to use (table numbers, votive candle holders, glasses, signs, cupcake tiers, etc.) which is really convenient. We LOVE SqWires!

We had our wedding and reception at Sqwires on a Saturday evening and Ashley and her staff was amazing! This venue is very beautiful and intimate and definitely a wow factor for your guests. This place needs little decorations because this unique beauty stands on its own. We told Ashley our vision and she went above and beyond. We didn’t have to stress over the small details because Ashely took care of it!Sqwires is located in the beautiful Lafayette Square which makes an amazing back drop for pictures. Lafayette Park is minutes away for pictures and Sqwires has a beautiful fountain out front . Our photographer captured some beautiful pics before and after the ceremony there.We had an open bar and the bartender was very fun and energetic and kept the drinks flowing. The staff was very friendly , helpful, and accommodating. We had a sparkler send off and the staff helped coordinate and light sparklers for the photos. I can’t begin to speak on how delicious the food was! My guests are still raving about the food! Sqwires was very accommodating to my guest with food allergies and special diets. They also offered vendor meals at a very affordable price and my dj and photographer was very satisfied with the selection.If I could, I would definitely rate Sqwires ten stars! I definitely recommend Sqwires! You will not be disappointed!!!

Sqwires was great. We loved the venue and the people we worked with. Ashley was our coordinator and she made everything so easy. The best part of Sqwires is that the fees they charge are all inclusive. Everywhere else we looked asked for extra fees, one place even asked for extra money for a dance floor. It was ridiculous to look at venues but the moment we found Sqwires, we were sold. The food is better than any wedding food you will ever have and the prices are very very reasonable considering their competitors. They even set up our center pieces for us! What place does that?? It was so amazing and easy to have that done for us and not have to have family members or friends work on that for us. We met with Ashley twice over the course of wedding planning and that was all we needed because they make it all so easy. The only downside to this venue is that is a little small but if you are hoping to have less than 150 people, this is the place for you!

We had about 90 adults and 15 kids at our wedding, which felt like a perfect number. The loft space was a great option for people wanting to have a quieter conversation or who weren't interested in dancing. Ashley and her crew were very accommodating, and made planning from out of town very easy. Our guests gave rave reviews about the food (especially the tater tot bar!). We used an outside vendor for our dessert, and they made it look amazing at no extra cost. What a great experience!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Sqwire’s in July and it was absolutely perfect. Sqwires was amazing from the time we initially contacted them in October 2016 through our reception in July. We thought the history of the place (wire factory turned restaurant/reception venue located in the first historic district in St. Louis) was cool and we liked the fact that it didn’t look like a “typical reception venue.” The place has so much character (exposed brick, amazing windows, baby grand piano, etc.), and we liked the fact that we would have the entire reception area to ourselves. We also thought that Sqwires was affordable and high quality compared to many other smaller reception venues in the St. Louis area. We both live out of state, and Ashley was extremely accommodating throughout the planning process. She worked with us via email, met with my parents when we were unable to meet with her ourselves, and scheduled our meetings when we knew that we would be in town. She was also very helpful with planning our reception. At our tasting appointment we were blown away by the food. Ashley helped to come up with menu options that would help accommodate various dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian). She was also great about giving us centerpiece ideas, and I was able to look through their back closet of various centerpiece items that we could use. The special touches that Sqwires really helped make our reception. For example, we loved the passed appetizers during cocktail hour and the coffee display after the cake was served. Our guests seemed to really enjoy the reception, and are still commenting about the space and the food. Karen and the staff at the reception were amazingly attentive and professional. We highly recommend Sqwires! We love them!

We were so happy with our reception at SqWires!-Gorgeous space and delicious food-They were easy to work with, friendly, and outlined everything, as well as brought up things that we didn't think about-They do the set-up for you, so you don't have to worry about it on the wedding day!

While the Annex was being \"flipped\" from the ceremony to the reception, we had a cocktail hour in the Front Room. Anything I asked Bethany about in regards to the ceremony was provided (table numbers, candles, signage, etc.) Bethany held several consultations with us including a food tasting and 2 rehearsals. She was extremely organized and I didn't have to worry about any planning on my wedding day. Please book your event at SqWires, you won't be disappointed.

From the planning to the execution, Sqwire's was flexible, professional and very helpful regarding all aspects leading up to our big day. I had to plan the entirety of the event from abroad and it was seamless working with them. The decor, food, mood and all of the amenities of this intimate space in historic Lafayette Square really made for a special reception. We had a magical evening thanks to the team at Sqwire's. Our ceremony was at the Jewel Box and then we went to Sqwire's for the reception. It was a perfectly intimate and cozy day for me and my lovely husband. Plus, we have lots of money left over to travel on! Financially speaking, it was very reasonable and the last thing I wanted in looking for a venue was a vendor that added on for every little thing- Sqwire's didn't. I'm still on cloud 9. Thanks again!!!

I couldn't be happier about having done our wedding reception at SqWires!! My husband and I are really into brunch and we wanted to have a small-ish, not-too-costly, morning, intimate wedding day - SqWires was the PERFECT venue. We had been there a couple of times for brunch and a couple of times for dinner, so we knew the food was going to be fantastic. The place in itself represented us very well as a couple, it's a perfect combination of modern rustic with beautiful exposed brick and high ceilings, and a loft/industrial look that makes for amazing pictures. We had the pleasure of working with the owner, Bethany, who was as accommodating as anyone could be. Everybody had great things to say about our wedding; they loved the food and thought the venue was super cool. SqWires provided us with everything we needed, including our centerpieces for a very fair price which made planning so much easier and smoother. We didn't have to worry about setting everything up and taking it down, they did it for us. I dont have any complaints about this venue, they truly made my wedding as wonderful as I imagined and I couldn't be more thankful that I had the opportunity to work with them. Thank you SqWires for making our day so special and beautiful!!

We love love love SqWires in Lafayette Square! We chose the venue because of the rustic/industrial look of the annex, which is where our reception was held. It has brick walls, exposed wooden beams and duct work. It is just a cozy, beautiful space. \rThe food is also fantastic. We splurged a little and got steak and salmon for our guests...totally worth it. We had so many people tell us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding!! We also had appetizers (yum!), an open bar and champagne toasts included in our package. We love to have a good time ;) LOL\rThe staff is the best in STL!!!\rThe bartenders and waiters/waitresses were very friendly and professional. They know how to show guests a good time. They even went on a Captain Morgan hunt when we ran out....again, we like to have a good time! And then there is Mandy, the event coordinator. She is the go to person for everything!!!!! She helped me find a DJ and officiant, was the tie breaker in our food/beverage decisions(haha), helped us scout photo opportunities in the area, helped me organize all my decorating ideas and then helped us decorate. She also made the day of the wedding run smooth. She coordinated everything so I didn't have to worry. I could just have a glass of wine and relax :)\rIf I had to do it all again, I'd choose SqWires, hands down! Maybe we'll have a ten year anniversary party there?!\r

My wife and I got married last January at Sqwires. I know most people say this about their weddings, but just about everything about ours was perfect. From the very beginning, Sqwires' event manager Karen was open and flexible. We had both our ceremony and reception in the same space. She worked with us to set it up exactly how we wanted (from the schedule to the placement of the furniture) and offered suggestions when we were at a loss (which was often). By some standards, our wedding was smaller (about 100 people), which she was completely open to. Other venues we had looked at were far less flexible. \r\rAs the day got closer, she was great at communicating with us and helping with all of the little details. Because we didn't want to get too wrapped up in the planning, one thing we liked about Sqwires was that they took care of basically everything for us. Our package, which was a flat, per-guest cost, covered the room, food, drinks and more (no extra fees for things like napkins or tablecloths).\r\rThe day itself was perfect. Her care and attention to detail was amazing. Having not had a lunch, I was feely shaky when I arrived before the ceremony. Without asking any questions, Karen brought me a bowl of soup and a glass of orange juice. It was a really small thing, but it saved the day. Throughout the ceremony and the dinner, she managed everything and kept things on track. The space itself was beautiful and worked perfectly for a group of 100. The food was amazing. It was the kind of flavorful, filling dinner you'd expect from a good restaurant. \r\rBefore getting married, we had bumped into some friends who told us they had also been married at Sqwires. They said we would love it. We did. Now whenever the topic of our wedding comes up, we say the same thing. Thanks to Sqwires and Karen for everything!

To get straight to the point, our entire experience at SqWires was perfect. The staff, and especially Karen, the wedding event manager, are true professionals that really work hard to personalize your reception and ensure that everything runs perfectly. From the ceremony to the food and drink options, Karen ensures that everything runs smoothly, and basically serves as an all-in-one wedding planner and an advocate who answers all of your questions in a prompt and friendly manner. Karen was my hero/angel/all around wedding day miracle worker, and the day wouldn't have been the same without her. She is truly a rare gem, and if you get lucky enough to work with her you will see exactly what I'm talking about. She's fabulous!\r\rBack when we started looking at reception halls, I looked at the SqWires website, and initially passed it off as too expensive because of the pictures on the website. After our initial plan for a reception fell through, we figured we would contact SqWires just to see how much it was, and we couldn't be happier that we did. Not only was it a lot more affordable than I thought it would be, when compared against some of the other options in the St. Louis area, it turned out to be a true bargain. I have been to a wedding at Windows On Washington, and there is simply no comparison. SqWires aesthetic was unique and charming, the food far exceeded any other reception we have been to, and Karen was even able to facilitate a beautiful ceremony in Lafayette Park. On top of it all, it was a lot more affordable for a wedding and reception that was superior to Windows On Washington in every way. \r\rGetting to the details, SqWires helped us set up a ceremony space, park house rental, and got chairs and a speaker delivered to Lafayette park. The ceremony went off without a hitch. Before the reception Karen contacted the DJ and florist to ensure everyone was on the same page. We were offered several different dinner and drink options for the reception, and we were thrilled with our selections, we have gotten many compliments from people at the wedding about how great the food was. The room was decorated beautifully, and we were allowed to come in and add additional decorations to the room with help from Karen. The wait staff and bartenders were very professional and prompt with their service, and the room layout worked great with the space.\r\rThere aren't enough great things to say about the job the staff did at SqWires, and I can't recommend them enough if you are looking for a classy wedding that won't break the bank. SqWires stacks up against any other option out there, and certainly can't be beat. Our day was a dream come true!!

My initial experience with this venue was very good! We were very impressed with the prices, food options, flexibility and additional help offered by our coordinator. She promised to take care of all of the decorations and to handle everything on the day of the reception. However, once the day actually arrived, she apparently was unavailable and left the party with management we had never met or spoken to, without notifying us of the change. There were two direct requests for special diets, and both of these were not followed. One involved giving the father of the groom an incorrect meal. The second, and more serious mistake, involved giving one of our guests with a severe allergy one of the three foods we asked specifically that she not be served. As the bride, I wasn't even aware that the management for the evening event had changed. Our party favors were not put out until I went back into the kitchen at 15 minutes till the end of the evening to ask where they were. We brought many decorations for them to use, and most of them were not put out, but they had been taken out of their packages so we were unable to return them. We did state our concerns to our coordinator on the following day, but she didn't seem very concerned with our opinion. Unfortuately, it seems like they were more interested in double-booking events (at an off-site location) than taking care of the guests at their annex. I would probably go with a venue that specializes in weddings and events, even if you have to pay a little more.

They were easy to communicate with and responded promptly to my questions. Our guests gave rave reviews of the food in our buffet. We loved our wedding at SqWires and definitely recommend this venue to couples looking for a unique and memorable space.

We did not want to spend a lot of time on details for the wedding such as decorating & this is where SqWires excelled for us! They have some decorations that are available to use - lanterns, boxes to display cupcakes & simple decorations for the tables. We utilized all of this, plus a very elegant display of vases & floating candles for our ceremony. We just told Bethany what we wanted & she made the space look amazing.\r\rWe chose the plated dinner which also comes with appetizers, 4 hours of bar & a gourmet coffee display. The food was delicious & we felt that the price was amazing for all that it included.\r\rWe were thrilled with our experience at SqWires & I can't recommend it highly enough!

We held both our ceremony (the Front Room) & reception (the Annex) at SqWires. We choose SqWires because we loved the loft feel of the Annex area & we wanted the simplicity of having everything in one place.\r\rBethany (the owner & our coordinator) was a pleasure to work with! There is simply not enough space on this review to go into detail about this amazing venue. Karen Kruse, the main coordinator made all our dreams come true. We were on a budget just like every other couple, and she made the numbers work. We chose to use their Annex space- equipped with bar, private bathrooms, and private closet for guests. We didn't want a formal sit down dinner, because we wanted people to mingle, dance, and be merry! Karen suggested the heavy h'orderves menu and a gourmet cheese, pasta, and several other delicious foods at a set station. In addition we did a round of late night food, which everyone seemed to love. The food worked out beautifully!\r\rWe ended up not doing a traditional cake, or many flowers, because the space is so different and beautiful, it didn't need much. Karen just shock loaded the space with candles and it was the perfect combination with the beautiful flowers our Florist Becky Huffman made. We reused the bridal and bridesmaids bouqets along the dessert table, and on the small cocktail tables we had floating candles and small flower arrangements. The money we save on the cake and flowers, we put that into our band budget, and went all out! Our guests said it was the best wedding they've been to! They danced and ate all night long and everyone is still telling us what an amazing time they had. \r\rKaren and her team helped with every small detail of wedding plans. I must have met with her at least 5-10x during the process, and she never made me feel like I was a pain. She was patient, kind, and enthusiastic! That attitude was carried throughout our whole reception by the staff. They were always willing to help and the thing that topped them above all other venues was that they didn't \"up-charge\" for everything. If they had it, you could use it. They had countless vases, picture frames, mirrors, stands, etc. When it came down to crunch time, Karen confirmed all deliveries with the vendors, and set up the room more beautifully than I could ever imagine. \r\rWhen the day finally came and we arrived to the reception, Karen was there to greet my new husband and I with our drink of choice (which she so smoothly inquired about through the planning process) and escorted us into the space so we could be the first ones to see the space. I will never forget that moment. Thank you Karen. I got goosebumps. It was more beautiful than I dreamt about.\r\rIf you want a non ballroom wedding, at a place that's unique, intimate, urban, and young, you will love SqWires!! Even though we opted not to do a sit down dinner, I know people who have there, and they say it was just wonderful! Either way you go, you can't beat the service, and their attention to detail. They really help take the stress out of the process due to their accommodating nature.\r\rGo to SqWires. They will make all your dreams come true!

We had our reception at Sqwires and it was AMAZING. We had Bethany do pies instead of cake and she also did our flowers and centerpieces. She is great to work with. If you have more than that you have to put some tables upstairs in the loft area. This apparently is common but we didn't want to have to do that so we chose to have everyone downstairs. I would absolutely recommend Sqwires and working with Bethany. You will have a beautiful reception and work with someone who truly cares about her couples. The space is unique, the food and drinks are delicious and the cost is very reasonable.

I have dined at Sqwires many times and have always enjoyed their food, so when I began looking for venues for my wedding and brunch reception, I had to look no further than Sqwires. They offer one stop shopping and minimize your stress level greatly. Karen Kruze was our event manager and she is amazing. The venue is just the right size for 100-150 guest, the food is beyond great. It's a week later and my guest are still raving about how good the food was. Most weddings have banquet food and, it taste OK, our food was GREAT. We had our ceremony in the Front room and reception in the Annex. Sqwires had so many decorations they allowed us to use, such as table numbers and candles, there wasn't much for us to do. For the price and value and the service and quality of food this is a must. We will be booking our future parties at Sqwires. \r\rAlso I have another friend who also had her reception there and she was also extremely impressed. \r

Sqwires was the perfect (!!) place to have my wedding. The venue has a modern feel with a vintage twist. The exposed bricks, quirky light fixtures, and tall ceilings were stunning. I actually had my rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, reception, and bridal brunch all here and they were fantastic each time. Bethanny Budde, owner and wedding coordinator was a dream to work with. She was so knowledgeable about how to plan the ceremony, flowers, cake, working with my DJ. Often times, I'd have an idea and she'd say what I was envisioning before the words even got out of my mouth. She saved me a fortune on flowers because she does the buying and arranging herself. It was easy access to Lafayette Square Park to take pictures before the ceremony. My winter wedding was gorgeous in front of the fireplace in the front room and the annex had more than enough room for our tables and dance floor. And since it's a restaurant first, the food was killer! Every guest raved and some even asked for boxes! I can't recommend this place and Bethanny highly enough. Book anything here and you won't be sorry!

Most of our guests had never been there and were extremely impressed with the venue. I have heard so many compliments about the food as well, and we absolutely loved it. There are so many options to choose from, it was hard to narrow down. Everyone we dealt with there was so friendly and helpful, and they did all of the set up and clean up as well. I wish I could have my reception there all over again, it was aboslutely perfect!

The venue was amazing and the staff was very helpful from beginning to end! We only had one issue with meals being switched but it was resolved quickly and there were no other problems after that. They did all setup and helped clean everything up after. Overall and excellent choice for a reception venue!

Absolutely amazing to work with. Bethany handled everything including the table setup with our decorations. The staff was friendly and helpful the entire evening. The annex was spacious and fun as it was an old wire factory. The food was absolutely delicious and was modified easily to accommodate our tastes. We got married in Mexico and Sqwires is the perfect choice for the cocktail and appetizer reception we are throwing for our friends and family. They are so easy to work with and have delicious food!
