She was able to keep our reception running smoothly and helped to keep us on schedule. Everyone had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff at the reception was professional and polite. The food at the cocktail hour, reception, and late night snack was absolutely DELICIOUS. The steak was cooked to perfection. From our first informational meeting, to signing the contract, to the night of our ceremony, Connie could not have been more thorough and helpful throughout the process. The different wedding packages were all laid out nicely, and it was very easy to add 'extras' as the CC facilitated that process. For example, we wanted different chairs for our reception, and the team worked with a 3rd party vendor to rent out and coordinate the delivery, set up, return of the chairs. The process was stress-free for us. One top of that, Connie did an amazing job keeping everything running according to schedule the night of and she really went above and beyond with her service. Our guests are still complimenting us on the great food as well. Overall, we had the best wedding reception at the Convention Center, and I would highly recommend it! Reviewed on 30-08-2017

The convention center worked with me and my husband so well after the fire. Very pretty place and the staff is awesome! I worked with Connie. She was extremely helpful and professional. The event was elegant and ran very smoothly. The facility is beautiful. The food, beverages and staff were excellent. We received so many compliments. A few months later she quit and was replaced with someone else. The replacement was a little difficult to communicate with, and some things we had agreed verbally with Gretchen were thrown out, so that was frustrating. But, the food and atmosphere they created were exactly what I wanted. I would definitely recommend them to anyone for a wedding reception, just make sure to get everything in writing as it is agreed upon. Reviewed on 05-08-2014

They offer several different packages for your wedding reception. We ended up going with a package that included a seated dinner, cocktail hour appetizer trays and premium open bar for the entire event. The package we chose also have 5 \"free\" upgrades, so we received chair covers, uplighting, a gobo light display, wine service with dinner, and a hotel room at the adjacent Embassy Suites for free. Talk about a deal! Having my reception there was such a breeze - Gretchen handles everything for you and it all went off without a single hitch - she meets with you about a month before your wedding and figures out the timeline and all the decorations. Gretchen contacted all my vendors and worked with them without having to involve me at all. I received so many complements on our reception - about how beautiful it all was, how delicious the food was (best wedding food I ever had), and how nice it was that it was attached to the Embassy Suites. The hotel will give you a discounted rate for your guests as well. I thought the Convention Center was a great place to have our wedding reception. Reviewed on 31-12-2013

She gave us exactly what she said she would. Everyone has come up to me and told me how beautiful of a wedding it was and how the food was AMAZING! I have to agree that it was the best food I have ever eaten at a wedding! The ballroom looked amazing also. I would not change a single thing about my wedding! She was dedicated to making our wedding perfect and worked with us every step of the way. Examples- I needed Gretchen twice during our happy hour and all I had to do was walk up to anyone working for SCCC and they had her there in seconds. Additionally, Gretchen was there the whole night. She would stop by to make sure everything was going as we wanted it to. Also, we were able to set up our centerpieces earlier that week and she made sure they were placed appropriately on the tables for us, along with or favors and all of the other decorations. Gretchen pays attention to every details and to YOU! In addition to great staff, the food was awesome. We are still getting compliments regarding the food. Reviewed on 27-12-2011

My DJ who has been to a million weddings even commented on how fast the staff got out the food to the guests. The wedding coordinator was very nice and helped with whatever was needed. They did not have a lot of options as far as linens and centerpieces but we managed. The best part of having my event at the convention center was that Embassy suites hotel is connected. Connie Barber joined the St. Charles Convention Center as a Catering Manager and Wedding Coordinator in March 2014. She is a certified wedding planner with over 20 years of experience in events. Connie loves the industry, specifically the constantly changing trends and needs of brides, ensuring her work is never boring. In addition to her extensive knowledge on planning the “typical” (and not so typical) American wedding, Connie also specializes in ethnic weddings.
