We absolutely loved the St. Paul College Club as our venue. Everything went very smoothly the day-of, food was great, and the space was both beautiful and versatile! Our only very minor complaint was that a little better communication and attention to detail from the coordination team would have been helpful, but it didn't put a damper on our day. Highly recommend having a wedding or any event there! Reviewed on 21-11-2023

St Paul College Club was the perfect venue! The staff were all so helpful and friendly. Tracy was so valuable and asked us questions we hadn’t even thought of in our planning meeting. Having her and Keelia, the day of coordinator, really made the planning and day of much less stressful. It’s such a beautiful venue there wasn’t much we needed to do for decor. I also appreciate that there is outdoor and indoor space available and the staff and venue are very flexible for any weather changes. The food was also delicious. We got so many compliments on our venue. Reviewed on 17-04-2023
Kristen Herscher(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-10-2022 We LOVED having our wedding at St. Paul college club. There were a few things that made it especially great and guest also commended on: 1) the venue is beautiful and timeless without feeling stuffy/too fancy 2) the food was great! 3) There were plenty of rooms to explore / use. We had people in the ballroom dancing, people playing cards in the living room, kiddos sleeping upstairs, and people out by the fire. This made for a great space to be together as a group when we wanted, and also spread out and talk to guests at other times. 4) the outdoor space was gorgeous. We really lucked out and the weather was warm enough at the end of October to have our wedding outside.Tracy and the whole team did a great job of making the day incredibly special, low stress and overall fantastic! Angie Peterson(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-09-2022 Pro: Our wedding turned out great and the day of coordinator had everything under control - The food was surprisingly good! Con: (and I realize some people might not find this a con; it's more of a personal pet peeve) However, the communication could be better. Yes, Tracy replied to every email, but you could tell she was very rushed to respond. Often times she only answered half of the email or provided incorrect information - it just made for unnecessary back and forth and it comes across disorganized and chaotic. Another thing to add to her communication style - because she is so rushed to keep things moving, it kind of took the fun out of the process. This was especially apparent during our planning meeting. She just breezed through it and was a tad condescending when we asked questions. This is our big day! We have never done this before, of course we are going to have questions. I get that this is her job and she does it daily. I just wish she would have slowed down a bit. Reviewed on 28-10-2022

Caroline Hickey(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-04-2022 My husband and I got married at the St. Paul College Club in April and it was a wonderful experience. While there were a few communication snafus during the planning process, Tracy, the venue coordinator, was quick to address our concerns and promised everything on the day-of would be perfect. She and the whole team (catering, bar tenders, etc.) at the College Club really delivered. Our day was magical and the venue and food were highlights for us and our guests. We chose to do a cocktail style reception and the space lent itself so well to that relaxed yet classy vibe. The food was amazing and we were glad to have so much say in the menu. We chose to serve an entirely vegetarian menu and had some other dietary needs to consider and the chef and team did a wonderful job. Amber Sellon(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2022 Our wedding at SPCC was fantastic! The venue is beautifully maintained and we loved the option of having our ceremony outside, and SPCC provided plenty of decor options to go along with what we brought. Tracy, Keelia, and the rest of the staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful, and Tracy provided a lot of great suggestions during our planning meeting such as taking some time after the ceremony for the two of us to sit in the wedding suite and just breath before joining cocktail hour. We can't speak more highly of everything Keelia did on the day of the wedding to get all of the details set for the ceremony and reception. We had several guests comment that their meal was the best wedding food they've ever had, and we agree! Our only critique from our experience working with SPCC is that Tracy seemed to be so busy with the number of weddings booked at the venue, there were some delays in our email communication. We occasionally had questions that weren't answered until we reached back out a few days later, and more prompt replies would have helped ease some of the stress of planning the details. This being said, everything worked out well and our wedding day went flawlessly! We'd highly recommend using St. Paul College Club for your wedding day! Reviewed on 05-07-2022

The food was delicious and we received so many compliments from guests. The venue itself was perfect! We had around 150 guests attend out wedding, and if you are getting married in warmer weather, the outdoor space during the reception is a dream! The weather on our wedding day was perfect and most people spent their time outside during cocktail hour and even after dinner. So many guests stayed until the very end I think it was because of having space outside of the dance area to chat with family and friends whether that was in the living room, upstairs, or outdoors. Another bonus of SPCC is that you get to bring your own alcohol into the venue. We went through their preferred vendor to order most of our alcohol, and I don't think we could have saved as much money as we did by being able to bring in our own booze! Bonus is the amazing bathroom upstairs that so many of guests used to take pictures and the governors cat who made a visit during our reception. Sarah Ahmadi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-07-2020 I could go on and on about how perfect this venue was for us. First, it's a beautiful space with lots of opportunities for remarkable photographs. Their outdoor and indoor spaces are spectacular, but anyone who visits the SPCC can see that. Because of COVID, the SPCC was extremely nimble in dealing with changes we had to make to the wedding. This is where I want to introduce the wedding planner at the venue, Tracy, who was kind, generous, professional, and every positive adjective I can come up with. She made planning a COVID wedding *fun*. She made us feel at ease the entire time. She welcomed us to the SPCC any time we had questions, always offering us something to ease our spirits (cookies, mimosa, etc), demonstrating not just a tremendous capacity to deal with the details of our wedding but empathy and generosity, as well. As the situation changed, she offered us new and creative ways to approach the wedding, including outdoor live music, outdoor seating, etc. On the day of the wedding, there was concern about rain; she gave us a call and told us not to worry, she would take care of moving things inside if the weather did not permit outside seating. In fact, at no point did we have to worry about the details. We told her what we wanted (even semi-last minute changes like adding a cocktail to our bartender's list of things to serve) and she made it happen. Here, I want to talk about the food. Because of COVID, we could not sample the food in advance to make informed selections for our hors d'oeuvres or dinner (they typically do a tasting with several couples at a time, which had to be cancelled for health concerns). She made recommendations and we trusted her -- and we are so glad we did. The food was *phenomenal*. It was honestly the best food I've ever had at a wedding -- and it was our wedding! Yay! All in all, such a pleasure to share our wedding experience with the team at the SPCC. We look forward to doing other events there. Reviewed on 16-07-2020

Lizzie Morris(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2019 We knew we wanted a venue in St. Paul that had history, charm, and significance. The St. Paul College Club was all of those things and more- the perfect balance of elegance with the comfort of getting married at home (well, someone else's very fancy home). The variety of spaces allowed for guests of all ages and interests to enjoy their time at the wedding. Folks who wanted a quiet space to talk could be in the library or the sun porch, while those looking to dance and party could be in the main room on the dance floor. We got married on a beautiful September day and loved being able to have our ceremony in the backyard and then continue to use the backyard space well into the night. We had about 30 children of all ages at our wedding and at Jenny's suggestion, we used one of the upstairs rooms as a kids room. The kids absolutely loved it but I think their parents loved it even more. We did heavy hors d'oeuvres for dinner. Our guests loved the food and we enjoyed being able to keep the party going without having a sit down dinner. We saved so much money by bringing in our own alcohol - especially because Total Wine let us return anything we didn't use. It also allowed us to completely customize the drinks available. Jenny and the staff at the St. Paul College Club were extremely helpful and made sure no detail was overlooked. We felt supported and acknowledged at every step along the way. Jenny had a direct, no-nonsense approach on the day of the wedding and admitted that she needs to get bossy so that people listen and pay attention. While we understand the need to be direct to get the point across in the day-of chaos, unfortunately that approach came across as rudeness to some of our Midwestern guests and wedding party. Our wedding was absolutely everything we could have dreamed of! Josie Sienkaniec(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 The St. Paul College Club was a total DREAM. We toured a lot of venues around the Twin Cities, but nothing compared to St. Paul College Club. It is a GORGEOUS house, with many areas for guests to spread out and talk to many people, versus just having to be at their tables all night. The location is stunning - right on historical Summit Avenue in St. Paul. There's also a beautiful backyard you have access to (it snowed on our October wedding day, so we weren't out there much) that is a gorgeous extension of the house. This venue is stately while also being extremely cozy, and feels secluded, even with being less than 10 minutes from downtown St. Paul. A big reason we chose St. Paul College Club was the ability to make our reception exactly how we wanted. I did not want a band or DJ, just a playlist. They have an awesome audio setup you can bundle in, including a projector. You can also bring all of your own alcohol for the bar, which was another way for us to really make it our own, by only bringing the items we wanted to serve. The staff was also just flexible with how we wanted the rooms setup, the schedule to run, and how the decorations were done (sidenote: they have a decorator who will setup everything for you, you just drop it all off!). Just FYI - there is a \"decorator\" included but honestly she did not do much, I didn't ever really meet her, but my personal attendant and mom ended up doing a lot of the decorations -so make sure you have someone available day of to decorate! All around a great wedding venue, decent pricing, and awesome food & atmosphere! It was really nice to have a coordinator included because we didn't have to spend extra money on a wedding planner or day-of coordinator. Reviewed on 17-10-2017
Eleanor Hughes(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-07-2017 Perfect venue for a medium sized wedding. Our late-July ceremony was held in the beautiful backyard with our 100/110 guests fit perfectly into the garden for the ceremony (and gorgeous pictures) and the reception hall for dinner. During the party, we spread out across the space and spilled out into the garden: everyone could find what they wanted, loud music and dancing or quiet conversation in the comfy library. Rebecca & the whole team at the St Paul College Club do a great job and give the day a gentle guiding hand, so the bride can relax and enjoy her day. The house is grand enough that you don't have to do much in terms of decoration, but you can, and that flexibility was exactly what I needed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Reviewed on 12-09-2017

Hannah Strauss-Albee(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-07-2017 We loved getting married at the St. Paul College Club. However, we had a few frustrating experiences- there was turnover with the 2 event coordinators, so we were handed off to 3 different coordinators in the span of only a few months. This made communication somewhat difficult as we would need to re-explain details to each new coordinator. On the day of the wedding, they ran out of our buffet entree, and told us that it was our fault that our guests ate too much. Although these experiences were negative, the setting was intimate and perfect for a wedding. The food was delicious, everything flowed well from inside to outside, there is ample free parking right in front of the venue, and the location is really close to the airport and many surrounding hotels. Stephanie Lauer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-03-2017 I cannot say enough good things about SPCC. We decided on the venue about a year and 3 months before we got married. We started working with Lindsay, and finished the process with Mackenzie since Lindsay left. Both of the ladies were very helpful and asked us many questions that we would not have thought about! It was honestly like having a wedding planner included. I most appreciated this during the week leading up to the wedding. We picked up our alcohol (very cheap to have an open bar since you bring your own!) and other decorations and dropped them off. They put everything up and decorated where we wanted it. I kept having friends and family offering their help, and we just got to spend time with them instead of having to spend our time working on setting up since it was done for us. I felt completely stress free that week, and on the day of the wedding. They were there to help the florist and other vendors as they arrived. They take care of absolutely everything, and come and quietly let you know when they are about to start the next thing. We received so many compliments on the venue - I think everyone thought it was so expensive, but it is very budget friendly! If you add on all the extras they offer it can get very expensive, but we didn't and the venue is so gorgeous you don't need to! Highly recommend. Laura Mansell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-12-2015 SPCC was an incredibly gorgeous wedding reception venue. We had our reception there in early December so it was decorated for Christmas and looked so beautiful, even before our decorations were added. The coordinator, Lindsey, was beyond wonderful to work with and was incredibly helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding day was perfect. Everything was so organized and well-planned out. I had bought all of the decorations and gave them to Lindsey. She and her assistant, Adriana, decorated the venue better than I ever could have myself! We had a couple fireplaces going during the reception and between the decorations, the fireplaces, and the ambiance of the College Club in general, it felt like a fairy tale reception. There are many rooms there for people to explore and find some quiet to talk, which everyone appreciated. All of the staff worked so hard to serve dinner and drinks and clear tables and make sure that everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious and we got many compliments. \r\rThe only not-so-positive thing I have to say is that the food prices were increased about 6 months before our wedding day, after we had already signed the contract. This added quite a bit to our total bill which was disappointing. Lindsey was able to partially rectify the situation by getting us some other things discounted, which we appreciated. \r\rOverall, the venue was beautiful and a perfect fit for what I was looking for to meet my \"magical winter wedding\" goal. Although the food was expensive, it was very good, and the fact that you are able to bring your own alcohol saved us thousands compared to elsewhere. She was able to answer any questions we had and gave us reassurance with each meet that this was going to be the wedding of our dreams. She helped in a big way to make our wedding everything we hoped it would be and I am honored to have worked with such an incredible coordinator. Anyone who chooses this beautiful venue must request Beata. She is vital part of this amazing mansion. No grander words can be used to describe how wonderful Beata is. I wish i could invent one to use just for her!\r\rThe actual mansion is so unbelievably exquisite. Our guest were blown away with its grand beauty and many rooms. I had always wanted an indoor wedding so we wouldn't have to be dependent on the weather but once we saw the backyard, I was insistent on having our ceremony outside. We were fortunate enough to be able to be married out in the gorgeous backyard, but the plan b option of inside would have been just as amazing. I can't think of a single corner of The St. Paul College Club that wouldn't have been ideal for our ceremony. The food was a big hit with our guest. One concern we had was for those people with a diet restriction (my husband's cousin and uncle have a serve allergy to glueten) but they were able to accommodate their needs with equally amazing food. We went with the roast beef crostinis and the mozzarella crostinis for cocktail hour appetizers. Everyone loved them. We probably could have gotten away with serving those for dinner too with how popular they were! But I'm glad we went with the chicken pesto with spring vegetables and mashed potatoes. Even those with allergies were able to enjoy a variation of dinner. The staff was amazing and the bartender we had that night was quick and friendly! \r\r I could go on and on about our amazing experience at The St. Paul College Club, but honestly anyone considering it as a possible place to get married should say yes! Lisa N(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-05-2014 I really don't think I can recommend the College Club enough! The venue is unbelievably gorgeous, the food is wonderful, and the staff is an absolute dream to work with. We really wanted a more unique venue that would be comfortable for our range of guests (college friends, older family members, young children) so having more or less access to the whole mansion was perfect. There's a Brides Room and Grooms room upstairs so you can get ready onsite (and get lovely photos in the meantime), plus the most amazing bathroom I think I have ever seen (it's a little quirky... but amazing). The main floor is broken up into smaller rooms so after dinner people could hang out by the music and dance floor or find a quieter spot to sit and chit chat.\r\rI was really hoping for an outdoor ceremony since they have a lovely little garden in the back, but unfortunately May was still pretty cold. The great thing about this venue though is that the interior is still gorgeous enough to make a great ceremony setting, not just at last minute backup in case of rain. \r\rThe College Club also provides a coordinator for you to work with, which is wonderful, especially for the day of. They are incredibly well organized and we even had other vendors tell us how easy they are to work with. Added bonuses for us: pricing is completely spelled out on their website, you can stock your own bar, and if you have additional decorations to bring in they'll handle the set up (but seriously, this place is pretty lovely on it's own!) I felt like we were repeating things a lot, and it was very stressful planning the wedding with them. They told us the wrong pricing on something when we met in person, and then through email quoted us a different price, and then explained that we misunderstood. We definitely didn't misunderstand anything, but from there on out I was very clear with my explaining things, and I sent an email to verify everything we talked about in person. When we went in to pay the final balance, they \"forgot\" to less our $1100 deposit, so the total remaining balance was $1100 too high. Larry Palm(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-11-2013 \rWe selected the Saint Paul College Club and couldn't have been happier! We went looking for places that would allow you to bring your own liquor, but you didn't have to arrange anything else (caterer, tables and chairs, etc) and this was the clear winner.\r\rWe ended up with a really small wedding of around 80 people and the set-up was perfect. Our ceremony was in the \"living room\" just at the door and the reception in the Great Room in the back. There was plenty of room for everyone to mingle, but I would think you might have difficulty with this set-up if you go past 90 or so people (for the reception).\r\rBecause of having the ceremony and reception at the same location and the liquor, we were able to do some things differently. We started things off with cocktails and appetizers which threw them for a small loop but it was really fun to hang out with our guests first, loosen everyone up and separate the appetizers from the actual dinner.\r\rFor the ceremony, we invited everyone to bring a drink and we did a toast in the middle. We even did a \"unity drink\" where our parents poured champagne for each other instead of sand, rocks or flowers. It's fun and keep the social and festive part of the evening going.\r\rWe had a November wedding, and the fireplaces were amazing. The Library is a great social hub and every photo taken in that room looked like we had rented out the most expensive house in all the world. Everyone was warm and glowing from the wood paneling and fire.\r\rWe had some specific timing issues that staff handled well. I think we ended up serving dinner 30-45 early because we pushed the timing and staff responded well. \r\rWe can't recommend the hot chocolate bar enough. Adults and kids were lining up. Made from real chocolate and with toppings like marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings it felt like a lot more value then we spent. We added Kahlua, Bailey's and mint schnapps for the bar but that really wasn't taken advantage (oh well, we took it home with us!).\r\rWe selected the plated dinner option. We didn't pick the steak dinner since the steak knives they have look very cheap with big black handles that would have looked out of place on the elegant white linen tables. So we went with other dishes, and they were terrific. We had the chef's vegetarian specialty of the night - noodles with mushrooms in a cream sauce - and I might have had done for everyone - it tasted so good!\r\rWe also had to use the back ramp for someone in an wheelchair. It worked pretty well, but there seemed to be little lighting so at night it was a bit difficult.\r\rYou can't beat the location, service, venue and flexibility of the staff. We loved it and are sure you will too! Reviewed on 08-01-2014
Brittany Williamson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-10-2013 Elegant and simple is how I wanted my wedding day to be (since I lived out of state), and having both the ceremony and the reception at the SPCC made it that way. The mansion is gorgeous, and having the on-site coordinator made it so that I didn't have to worry about ANYthing on the big day. Guests loved being at the mansion, the rooms to get ready in are fantastic (especially the bride's room!), the food is delicious, and the people who work there are very good at what they do. As others have said, it's a huge savings to be able to bring in your own booze and offer your guests an open bar at a fraction of what it would be at a hotel, for example. \r\rI was very impressed with how easy planning was for me, and loved that we could basically do whatever we wanted decoration-wise, but really needed/wanted to do very little.\r\rMy only criticism was in some pre-wedding communication. My coordinator quit and it took a while to figure out who my new one was, I would get emails from a variety of addresses, and sometimes it was challenging to find a time to visit or do a food tasting.\r\rOverall, I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone who wants a beautiful, hassle-free wedding day! Colleen Horn(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-08-2013 I cannot say enough wonderful things about the College Club. We just had our reception here and it was phenomenal for oh so many reasons:\r\r1) Transportation/location: the valet parking is so useful and we were married at the nearby Cathedral, so it wasn't a long drive for guests after the ceremony. Guests could come straight there instead of awkwardly trying to kill time between the ceremony and reception.\r\r2) The mansion itself. Hello gorgeous. It is SUCH an awesome blank canvas for any wedding. It doesn't need a lot of work, but if you want to personalize your day, they give you lots of areas/ways to do so. \r\r3) The food. OH.MY.GOD. We had people tell us that the food was worth their trip alone. We had a tasting before the wedding and the food tasted just as good, if not better, on the actual day. I can't recommend the bacon-wrapped scallop enough.\r\r4) Event coordinator. Katie is a lifesaver. She went above and beyond to make sure that my husband and I had the best day possible. She coordinated with the DJ to make sure guests seated in the living room made it to the ballroom for speeches/toasts. She personally got us treats from the kitchen because our guests had inhaled all of the desserts and we hadn't tried any. She was on her hands and knees on the dance floor trying to wipe up spilled drinks so people wouldn't slip. We never felt pressured by Katie to sign up for a part of the reception (certain decorations, more expensive linens, etc) but she always made sure we knew our options and gave us her honest opinions. I know she's moving on to a new position, but I am sure anyone who replaces Katie will have the same attitude towards weddings. She was incredible.\r\r5) The liquor. You can bring in your own booze/pop/etc. while they supply ice, napkins, straws, and the bar tenders. You provide garnishes and they'll slice them up for you. My parents bought the liquor from a local liquor store and bought the pop from Cost Co and it worked so well. We saved a ton of money on what would have been a very expensive bar tab (younger wedding guests, Irish Catholic wedding, you get the picture). It was so easy and yet another way that this venue rocked.\r\rLong story short: book this venue if you can. They did an incredible job and everything was perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. This results in a HUGE savings and you have an open bar the entire wedding. This will make your guests REALLY happy.\r3.) The price comes with a College Club Wedding Coordinator who helps plan your event and oversees everything the day of. This results in less headaches for everyone on an already hectic day! Trust me, YOU NEED THIS.\r4.) The food is excellent. All events are catered by the College Club French chef. The day of our wedding, the food was spectacular and came out piping HOT. I don't remember ANY wedding where this was the case for a sit down dinner.\r5.) It's affordable. In relation to other places that will nickel and dime you to death, this place outshines them all. We had about 120 guests and spent about $10,000 for everything and that included valet parking, decorations, the cake, food, and service fees/taxes. What a deal!!\r6.) Prestige of Summit Avenue in St. Paul. This place is next door to the Governor's mansion. People will think you paid tens of thousands on this wedding and they'll never know the real price. It's a beautiful area that is very high class. We were married in October and Summit had beautiful fall colors at the time.\r\rIf you're like me and desired a top of the line wedding, with little hassle, and the most bang for your buck - you'll like this place. The wedding planner that they currently have (we had 3 since we contracted there 2 years before our date) is exceptional. She is talented and eases any problems or concerns you may have. This would not be the place to have a large wedding but for 200 or less people its a great venue. We had 90 people there and all of them raved about how amazing the wedding, food and mansion was. You do have to get your food through the club, however, the tastings were great and we didn't feel like we were being forced to go through them. You can either go through vendors that they have teamed up with or bring in your own cake and alcohol. It is worth it to go through the vendors that they offer though as these vendors are reliable. Overall, the College Club thinks of everything that you could want and meets and exceeds it. On a plus the bridal suite is breath taking and certainly the selling point for me as to wanting to go there. Its a place you have to see to believe, so if you are looking don't pass this place up.
