A down-home, authentic wedding experience
Your wedding, Your week. At Sugar Island Barn Rustic Venue and Bar in Watertown, WI, our foremost concern is facilitating your perfect wedding day. With grass and trees nearly covering the six-acre grounds and a state-approved 4,000-square-foot venue with a fully licensed and operational bar, we pride ourselves in providing the flexibility to help you visualize and actualize your special day. We don't believe in hard-set deadlines to set up and break down but rather focus on how we can best assist you in making your day special and memorable. The venue may be a barn, but we're not in the business of herding you in and out like cattle. We take care of the little things, from the ceremony to the reception, so you can focus on enjoying your day. (There was the time Rascal Flatts crashed a wedding here, too.) This venue is breathtaking! It was my dream to be married in a barn and this was the place to do it. The staff is unbelievably friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. We also got the venue on the Wednesday before our wedding, which really brought down the stress with setting everything up. I can’t say enough great things about this venue. Don’t hesitate to reach out because with all the amazing things they have to offer, their weekends fill up fast!

This venue is breathtaking! It was my dream to be married in a barn and this was the place to do it. The staff is unbelievably friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. We also got the venue on the Wednesday before our wedding, which really brought down the stress with setting everything up. I can’t say enough great things about this venue. The amenities at Sugar Island Barn are Fantastic!! We appreciated all the venue had to offer for wedding party space! Having the barn for the whole week was absolutely wonderful and allowed us to decorate and add our touch to our wedding day without being rushed!! The family was very helpful in answering questions and helping in planning the day! The staff and wedding day help was a life saver for us as they fulfilled every request and were happy to help with anything we needed! Highly, highly recommend!!

The amenities at Sugar Island Barn are Fantastic!! We appreciated all the venue had to offer for wedding party space! Having the barn for the whole week was absolutely wonderful and allowed us to decorate and add our touch to our wedding day without being rushed!! The family was very helpful in answering questions and helping in planning the day! The staff and wedding day help was a life saver for us as they fulfilled every request and were happy to help with anything we needed! Highly, highly recommend!!

Just got married here (6/17/23) and we loved every second of it!!! The owners and employees all go above and beyond to make sure things run smoothly. For example, Dennis picked up my grandparents in a golf cart whenever they needed to get somewhere else on the grounds, which was so appreciated! The hair and makeup stylists I worked with (not affiliated with Sugar Island Barn) mentioned how the bridal suite was perfectly designed for their needs, as it has multiple huge mirrors, stools, a chair meant for hair styling, a sink, and lots of natural light! The barn is beautiful and clean with a more rustic upstairs bar and an air conditioned downstairs modern bar. Many barns that were not as well kept up were charging much more just to have the venue for one or two days, whereas at Sugar Island Barn, it is your wedding week, as you have the venue from Wednesday-Sunday!! It was great to be able to host multiple events there within that time such as the rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception, and gift opening the following day. I cannot say enough good things about this venue!!

They were amazing and I highly recommend. You get the barn from Wednesday until Monday! so I was able to help with set up and we could take our time. We were the last wedding of the year and actually weren’t even supposed to be open that weekend because they don’t have heat, however, we specifically wanted 11/5 as our wedding date. That is one downfall that some of our guests were pretty cold, despite the heaters in place. the other downfall was that they did not have a generator for when the power went out. Will say that one of the owners did go out and buy a generator on his own time however, it was not in time for the ceremony. Thank goodness I had DIY mason jars LED lights to light up the aisle and the photographers had spotlights and the DJ had a power bank.

They were amazing and I highly recommend. You get the barn from Wednesday until Monday! so I was able to help with set up and we could take our time. Amazing! We got married at this venue 9/17/2022 and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. The family who owned and operated the venue was amazing and so helpful. They were on site any time we needed them and very responsive and attentive to our needs and questions. The new addition including bathrooms, brides room, and catering kitchen but this barn venue over the rest of the competition. I 1,000% recommend this venue to any couple seeking a barn venue!

Absolutely amazing venue! We got married here on 10/1/22, and the entire day was perfect! Sugar Island staff did not skip a beat, and when my husband and I were able to make it to the bar, the bartenders were already making our drinks, so we only waited a minute tops. My favorite part is though, you get the venue from Wednesday through Monday. I couldn't have imagined having to set up, get ready, do little finishing touches, and then clean up all in one day. I am so happy we chose this venue! The only \"complaint\" I have, is they had tours scheduled the morning of our wedding and while we were trying to clean up on Sunday. I just wish they would've told us this ahead of time, because it was awkward to have random people walking around. Other than that though, the day was magical!

The family at Sugar Island Barn is wonderful. They accept you right into the family and do everything in their power to make your day as special as possible. Their flexibility and “your wedding, your week” mentality allow a super relaxing day all around. The Robus family was super helpful throughout the day, from helping serve dessert, to helping with the ceremony. The bartenders were awesome and super fun. Cannot wait to visit again and catch up with the family!

Sugar Island Barn is beautiful! Their staff is exceptional! From the start they were so easy to work with. Pricing was easy and straight forward. We had the barn from Wednesday to Monday making set up and tear down very easy. The updates they have done are stunning and they have REAL PLUMBING AND CLIMATE CONTROL in their addition. The property was beautiful for pictures and the ceremony site we used was romantic and intimate even with 250 guests. We had the rehearsal dinner in the lounge and it was perfect! The staffed helped all of our caterers set up and clean up! They made sure that we were taken care of and comfortable throughout the whole wedding! At our ceremony we had some equipment failures and they jumped to the rescue with a PA system and wireless microphone for us to use. The reception area is set up to make all of the guests feel included. They tore down tables for the dance floor quickly and without disturbing our guests. They helped us set up and tear down all of the tables/decor. They supplied a TON of the decor for us to use as well as linens! GO CHECK THIS VENUE OUT!! You will not regret it. Our guests raved about the bar service and the beauty of the property. I would highly recommend any couple to go see the barn and talk with Evana, Dennis and their family. It was an unforgettable day that they really made speciy. They go above and beyond!!

The best part is they only allow one wedding per weekend and you can start setting up on WEDNESDAY of your wedding week. The Robus family are the absolutely sweetest and the dad will give you a detailed history of the barn and how they’ve kept it so perfect. In the last year they added on a big kitchen, downstairs hangout area and beautiful getting ready rooms and bathrooms. Seriously, if you are looking for a barn venue, this is the one to pick. We loved everything about it and are trying to find more excuses to book them!

The Robus family did not treat us like we were clients, they treated us like family and went above and beyond. The barn is breath taking, the whole location is something straight off of a Pinterest board! They helped us decorate, made sure the night ran smoothly, and even gathered all of our decorations and made sure they were ready to go on the clean up day! It was a very nice surprise. We loved the venue and highly recommend it for your wedding or any event!

Meet the Sugar Island Barn Team
The Robus Family (Owner) Sugar Island Barn Rustic Venue and Bar was really an afterthought.A family of six ran the grounds, and the youngest of the four children is where the story begins. The youngest, and only daughter, held a childhood dream to be married in the late 19th century grain barn, and her father could hardly say no. With 35 years of accumulation, plus what was left from the previous owner, it was no small task to prepare a space for over 250 wedding guests. But over six months of slow and steady hard work, the barn was cleaned out, from the top rafters to the original floorboards.
