I can’t even express how amazing our wedding was because of this venue and Starr and Matt. I jokingly told Starr she could have my first born because of how incredible this day and process was for us. We planned this completely out of state and only had one visit to the ranch, which was the day we decided this was our venue. Starr gave us so much direction and so many tips to get us going, but we had complete freedom to coordinate whatever we wanted. Starr was always so responsive during the 8 months of planning. We did our rehearsal dinner at the venue, which was great for our most important people to lay eyes on this magical place ahead of time. Wedding day was so seamless. Starr and Matt were buzzing around and never once came to me with issues. They either figured them out behind the scenes or with my point person bridesmaid and everything turned out better than I could have asked for. Our guests have been raving out our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier. If you’re considering this venue, just know that you can’t go wrong. There’s such a personal touch when you work with these amazing people and this amazing venue that I truly feel we could not have gotten elsewhere. When we looked at other venues, they felt so cookie cutter and impersonal. I could go on and on, but basically there’s no doubt that this was the perfect day. I am so grateful to Starr and Matt for making a dream I didn’t even know I had come true!

I can’t even express how amazing our wedding was because of this venue and Starr and Matt. Having planned my wedding completely out of state with only one visit to the ranch before my wedding, everything about my experience far exceeded my expectations! As soon as I met with Starr a few days before my wedding, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I knew I was in good hands. Matt and Starr took care of every detail, communicated with my vendors, and made sure the day flowed without any hiccups. The venue is spectacular on its own and our out of town guests loved the experience! We shuttled people from Helena (highly recommend) and paid for the day of coordination services - cannot recommend these options enough! It made everything SO much easier. If you’re looking for a venue that has a rustic Montana vibe with sprinkles of city chic, this is the place. Matt and Starr went above and beyond to make our dream wedding a reality. Matt answered all our questions during the initial tour and we felt at ease knowing we found the perfect spot. I’m a bit of a type A planner, and they were quick to respond to my emails and offered great suggestions. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the day-of coordination service. It took so much stress off me knowing they would orchestrate the whole day. I met with Starr prior to the wedding day and told her all of my ideas. She’s so talented and beautifully put my vision to life without question. My family stayed at the cabins on the property - it was so fun and convenient to all be there! The barn is absolutely beautiful and the long farmhouse tables and wood chairs really elevate the area. The reception on the back patio was a blast! We had a fun bar, a roaring fire with marshmellows and hot dogs, and of course corn hole! Overall, it was a beautiful venue and the day was perfect thanks to them.

Everything was absolutely perfect at Summer Star Ranch for our big day! Starr was constantly there for me before my wedding day, helping me organize and plan! She was also there for us for our ceremony and reception and without her, it would’ve been pretty unorganized. This venue has so much to offer as well, like a bar, a fire pit, two areas for the ceremony and a nice sized dance floor! We are so thankful that we found this venue!

Everything was absolutely perfect at Summer Star Ranch for our big day! Starr was constantly there for me before my wedding day, helping me organize and plan! She was also there for us for our ceremony and reception and without her, it would’ve been pretty unorganized. This venue has so much to offer as well, like a bar, a fire pit, two areas for the ceremony and a nice sized dance floor! We are so thankful that we found this venue!

The venue is absolutely stunning with so many places to take amazing photos and the getting ready spaces were awesome as well! And the owners are absolutely fabulous. Right from the very first time we contacted Starr and Matt to set up a tour, I knew that I wanted to have our wedding at their ranch purely based on how helpful and nice they are to work with. And so it was just an awesome bonus that the venue is gorgeous! We also decided to hire Starr for her day of services and that was quite possibly one of the best decisions we made in the planning process. She was such a huge help in getting everything set up exactly the way I envisioned it and was amazing at keeping us on track and making sure everyone knew what was needed of them and at what times. Our day went so smoothly in large part due to her and her assistant’s amazing work! And I have to say, while pictures can show a lot, it really is a different experience being able to visit the ranch in person. There’s just so much beautiful land! If you are on the fence about booking your wedding at Summer Star Ranch. DO IT.We could not have had a better experience for our wedding. They have truly thought of everything for the perfect venue. Summer Star Ranch was absolutely amazing, it had snowed the day before our wedding and they called to make sure we had enough heaters and had our ceremony area set up upon our arrival. The venue was stunning with the snow and the owners were extremely helpful. Star saved the day with directing traffic through the muddy conditions and her husband Matt was awesome with getting the heaters ready and a fire started. It was an extremely smooth wedding.

Pros: beautiful location, great ceremony spots, don’t need to rent your own tables/chairs, nice bathrooms, the barn building is stunning and doesn’t need a ton of decorations, cabins/glamping tent onsite for a limited number of people. We didn't interact a ton with Matt and Starr day-of since we couldn’t afford to spend an extra grand on wedding planning services, but they were very helpful about answering our questions over email before the wedding and let us come out to the venue multiple times to visit. They were also in the area on our wedding day and periodically checked in after helping with parking. Cons: cell service is very limited/poor (ours didn’t work at the barn, only further up the road). If you have everything dialed/planned to a T this might not matter, but it made some things difficult for us. I got ready in the cabin, and there’s also no wifi. For brides/grooms getting ready in the glamping tent and cabins, there’s limited to no AC so it can get hot inside in the summer. There’s no potable water at the barn (very tiny sign above the sink we only noticed the day before…oops). The kitchenette attached to barn is essentially empty, the cabinets are locked and no regular cooking stuff is available. We made our own rehearsal dinner there so the lack of supplies was very apparent. No recycling services (we were able to rent some recycling receptacles from 406 and it was a lot of extra coordination, but worth it to produce less waste!). FYI to budget conscious brides- We were led to believe it was only $125 to rent a bus for guests but it’s more like $800+. Also, stuff at the venue like whiskey barrel tables, drink dispensers, mason jars, etc. are extra money.

Starr and Matt were wonderful! They responded to us and answered our questions quickly leading up to our big day. They were very friendly and accommodating once we arrived at the ranch. It was absolutely pouring rain all weekend & Starr came to me with many ideas in order to save our decorations. The venue was BEAUTIFUL. & Starr was a huge blessing as our “day of” wedding planner. 10/10 recommend. We wish we could relive this day all over again.

They had so many ideas and suggestions I would not have even thought of. They also offer so much from on site lodging, to an ice chest for drinks or whatever else you may need it for, to barrels and other rentals you can use in your decor. Matt was a great help and did an amazing job stepping up to be our day of coordinator. I cannot say enough good things about this place! Made many of my guests want to move to Montana.

She works SO hard to make sure the day before & the day of your wedding goes as smoothly as possible. My husband & I never had to stress at all the day of. The ranch was more beautiful than we imagined! We stayed in the tent fir our honeymoon, which was decorated so fabulous in western decor. Matt and Starr had us set up with everything we needed. We had a relaxing horseback ride with Starr. Matt was so kind to follow behind with the photographer to snap wedding photos for us. We got married on the ranch on Matt and Starr’s horses. They took care of every detail and made our stay so comfortable and relaxing. We felt like they were family when we left. It was my first trip to Montana and if I ever get to go back, I would definitely stay at Summer Starr Ranch!

I can't say enough good things about getting married at Summer Star Ranch. Starr and Matt were incredibly wonderful to work with. We got married at a beautiful spot at the ranch with the mountains in the background and we were blown away by the beauty of the ranch. Starr brought all the chairs down to the ceremony spot and drove my family members back and forth from the ceremony spot. The barn is absolutely beautiful and we loved having dinner and drinks there. I can't believe how beautiful the barn is! And Starr recommended a BBQ caterer who was amazing and the food was delicious! We also loved staying at the cabin that night and waking up to a sunrise with the horses. I chose the venue from out of state and had no idea what to expect as I only saw photos online but I was completely blown away by how beautiful the setting was and how helpful Starr and Matt were in every way. They checked in with us through out the wedding day to see how they could help or if there was anything we needed which was so appreciated. And they were so helpful communicating by email before the wedding. I had a lot of questions over email and Starr was always so helpful and responsive. I can't wait to return to Summer Star Ranch, it was incredibly beautiful and the wedding was more than we could ever have asked for. Thank you Starr and Matt for the best day ever!

Our mom wanted to ask you guys to adopt our whole family because we just loved you both so much! Even the guests noticed the care with which you handled everything and mentioned it to us. The glamping tent was perfection and a great place for the guys to get ready and being able to stay at the cabin on the ranch made setting up, getting ready and just the whole weekend so convenient, comfortable and peaceful! Honestly everything was perfect and we feel so lucky to have spent the weekend at such a special place. Thank you Matt and Starr for an unforgettable day!

My husband and I planned our wedding from out of state. Starr was super helpful on everything. From cake recommendations to activities for our guests. Even with a time difference between us She always responded in a timely manner. The drive out to York from Helena is beautiful. We wanted to give our guests the MT views that we fell in love with. The drive is scenic and there is wildlife on the way out to the Ranch. The Ranch property is big. Lots of locations to choose from for your ceremony. As much as I wanted our ceremony outside, Mother Nature had different plans and we moved it into the barn due to rain. Summer Star owners and staff were on top of the weather forecasts and moved quickly to accommodate our wedding schedule. Nothing to stress about. For a Bride to Bride talk: I highly recommend renting out the cabin the night before your wedding and have a sleepover with your bridesmaids! We had a lot of fun and you can actually see the city lights of Helena off in the distance. Not only do you have front row seating to a beautiful sunrise you also can sleep in some before hair and make up arrive :)With everything said and done, we highly recommend Summer Star!

First of all you, should be informed that words can’t even begin to express how awesome this venue is!! We wanted an outdoor wedding and Summer Star was the perfect venue for this. There are multiple locations on the property where you can hold your ceremony, in addition to the barn itself on the chance of bad weather or high temperatures in the peak of summer. All of the tables and chairs are on-site, included in the venue fee, and the owners even helped with set up which was an extra perk because it was one less thing to have to take care of on an already busy day. We booked the venue for the entire weekend, which served us well as we held the rehearsal dinner there and set up for the wedding the night before. They have a glamping tent and cabin that the bridal party utilized to get ready in and you can stay in them overnight if you want. They were super accommodating to us with requests and were on sight (not hovering though) and available if we needed anything. The owners went above and beyond to help us meet our vision for the perfect day. They have a large freezer at the venue stocked with tons of ice so you don’t have to worry about hauling a ton of ice up to the venue. They chopped wood for the fire pit and our for guests camping across the road. Highly highly recommend.

First of all you, should be informed that words can’t even begin to express how awesome this venue is!! We wanted an outdoor wedding and Summer Star was the perfect venue for this. There are multiple locations on the property where you can hold your ceremony, in addition to the barn itself on the chance of bad weather or high temperatures in the peak of summer. All of the tables and chairs are on-site, included in the venue fee, and the owners even helped with set up which was an extra perk because it was one less thing to have to take care of on an already busy day. We booked the venue for the entire weekend, which served us well as we held the rehearsal dinner there and set up for the wedding the night before. They have a glamping tent and cabin that the bridal party utilized to get ready in and you can stay in them overnight if you want. They were super accommodating to us with requests and were on sight (not hovering though) and available if we needed anything. The owners went above and beyond to help us meet our vision for the perfect day. We had a fabulous weekend celebrating at Summer Star Ranch! We were so lucky to be one of the first to get to use the gorgeous barn that they offer. They are so awesome and accommodating. We visited the ranch several times in the last year to check out progress on the barn, and they made themselves available each time for questions. Definitely book the glamping tent for your wedding night as well! It was awesome to be able to stay there, and I expect we will be booking it for every anniversary from here on out. This has to be the best (or at least one of the best) wedding reception venues in Montana--it's so beautiful in a perfect Montana setting. Our guests came from around the world and had such an amazing time!

I am sooooooo glad that we decided on Summer Star for our wedding! We got so many compliments from guests, everyone had such a great time. The rental comes with SO MUCH that I never thought that I needed and made everything so much easier not having to deal with renting tents, tables, outhouses etc. Also the bathrooms on-site are awesome! Our guest were so impressed with the whole place! It was beautiful for our photos as well (despite being very sunny and squinty out) and I cant wait to see the finished product from our photographer! Starr and Matt were great to work with, checking in on us and would bend over backwards if we asked them to! They were so accommodating to anything we needed. We definitely will be recommending SSR to anyone looking for a venue!

It's affordable, unique, beautiful, and Matt and Starr were a JOY to work with. They answered every question we had, gave wonderful recommendations, and just overall made us feel welcome and taken so well care of. We both walked away feeling like it was our dream wedding, we were so happy how it went and enjoyed using the cabin and glamping tent to get ready. We also planned everything from several states away which can of course make things more difficult, but no problems were had. I can't recommend this venue enough. Before we chose this venue we spoke to several other couples who had been married there to see how it went and they all felt the same way we do now. We are even hoping to make Summer Star Ranch a spot we come back to occasionally since the ranch was so off the beaten path and we'd love to stay and get a horse ride in one of these days! Located just 40 minutes from Helena, the Summer Star Ranch is the kind of venue you dream about. Not to mention the drive up there is stunning. You pass Hauser Lake, one of the three lakes that make up the headwaters of the Missouri River and then weave through a beautiful canyon before winding up a hill that leads you to gorgeous mountain a field views. The owners were willing to answer any questions I had and responded to every email within hours. Starr and Matt are seriously the most generous couple. They invited us out to the ranch several times for personal tours of the property so we could nail down all of our questions about decor and logistics prior to the wedding. On the day of the event, they acted as our personal attendants, making themselves available in anyway possible so that the wedding would run smoothly. On example is that Starr checked in on my bridesmaids and me early in the morning and brought us extra coffee. The day before they were with us during set up and rearranged the whole place (tent and ceremony site) to fit our vision. For the wedding itself, they had several people standing guard ready to queue the wedding party for when to go. They also allowed us to basically have the whole ranch to ourselves to do with it how we please for the weekend. We had our rehearsal dinner out there as well and Matt was ready to light the bonfire whenever we wanted. They essentially acted as silent wedding planners catering to our every need and anticipating what we needed before we even had to ask and they were never in the way. As far as the venue itself, it couldn't be more majestic. The panorama views of fields and mountains, the camping available for our guests just walking distance to the ceremony, the glamping tent and cabin for the wedding parties to get ready in, the act that everything was so close to each other- everything was so wonderful. The ranch made for a truly magical and chic Montana wedding. The antler chandelier above the dance floor and Edison lights strung around the inside of the tent complimented our decor perfectly. The rustic wooden picnic tables added a classy touch in lieu of traditional venues' cheap looking tables and chairs which usually require heavy decor to make them look presentable. I can't recommend this place enough! Everything was perfect and the owners made it that much more special. When my new husband and I made our way back to the cabin after the reception, there was a note, a bottle of prosecco and a framed photo of our first kiss waiting for us on the table. If you are looking for the perfect backdrop for your chic Montana wedding the Summer Starr Ranch is for you.

Originally we had booked a different venue for our wedding but it wasn’t going to work for our guest count. As luck would have it we found Summer Star Ranch. Changing venues was the best decision we made. Five stars doesn’t seem like enough. Summer Star Ranch is the most amazing venue. It’s gorgeous and perfect for a beautiful wedding. However, what really makes the venue is the spectacular owners and team that run the ranch. Working in the event industry I know that the venue employees can make or break your event. Starr, Matt, Laura, and Kelly were fantastic to work with. They went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was everything we wanted. Answering numerous questions, helping to problem solve, and allowing us to come to the property on multiple occasions to look at the venue as we went through the planning process. They could not have been more kind, professional, and caring. They truly care about you and they want you to get married at their property and have a fantastic day. It’s so much more than just a business to them. They also give back to our local community and to us that means everything. If you’re lucky enough to happen upon the ranch for your special day - book it. It’s the best wedding decision you’ll make and it’s worth every penny.

Matt and Starr are absolutely wonderful! They were extremely accommodating and flexible throughout the planning process and took all the stress out of the mix. The Summer Star Ranch is breathtakingly beautiful, reasonably priced, and comes with just about anything you could ever want for your day! Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the location was. I can't recommend Summer Star enough!!! We will most definitely be back when we need a quiet getaway.

Matt and Starr are absolutely wonderful! They were extremely accommodating and flexible throughout the planning process and took all the stress out of the mix. The Summer Star Ranch is breathtakingly beautiful, reasonably priced, and comes with just about anything you could ever want for your day! Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the location was. I can't recommend Summer Star enough!!! We will most definitely be back when we need a quiet getaway.

Starr and Matt were the most responsive, helpful, and engaged hosts we could have asked for. On the day of our wedding, they managed to be invisible, and yet to materialize every time we needed help with something. In every interaction, it was evident that their primary concern was for us, our guests, and our celebration. They always provided a calming presence full of competence and helpful solutions. We also appreciated the many small touches they offered that helped personalize our experience. Thank you both for helping make our day a wonderful one.

We can't say thank you enough to Matt and Starr, and the rest of the staff at Summer Star Ranch. They were beyond amazing!!! Our wedding day was beyond perfect thanks to them. Starr and Matt are truly amazing people to work with. As the bride it is easy to become overwhelmed and stressed. Starr and Matt took away stress, and were beyond helpful and easy to work with. Their organization and easy going attitudes really made it such a pleasure to work with. Also the scenery at the ranch is beyond AMAZING! All of my guests kept talking about how beautiful it was out there. Thank you Summer Star Ranch for being so amazing. We wouldn't change a thing from our beautiful wedding at our beautiful venue.

Our time at the Summer Star Ranch was Absolutely Wonderful! What a fantastic venue for our family reunion and the staff could not have been any nicer or more helpful. We went on an amazing horseback trail ride, and we had a few novice riders and 1 that was very nervous to ride. Matt was so patient, kind and helpful to her and everyone had a fabulous time riding! The horses were well trained and took good care of all of us riders. The view was second to none! Could not have been any more perfect for our time together as a family. So glad we were able to do it together at the Summer Star Ranch! We are really excited to make this an annual event for our family get together. Thank you so very much Matt and Starr for all that you did to make our stay Fantabulous!! You are AWESOME!

Our time at the Summer Star Ranch was Absolutely Wonderful! What a fantastic venue for our family reunion and the staff could not have been any nicer or more helpful. Amazing, gorgeous, perfect! Just a few of the words to describe our wedding at the Summer Star Ranch. Matt, Starr, and Laura came to our rescue when we lost our venue four months before our 5-20-17 wedding. They were a pleasure to work with...the rest is history. One hour before the ceremony it started raining, and, of course, we had originally planned an outdoor ceremony. Matt and his team were so amazing! They kept me calm and quickly moved the entire ceremony inside the reception tent which was just as beautiful. Oh, and not to mention my father ended up in the ER the morning of and Matt offered to drive into town and pick him up to ensure he made it to the ceremony and then drive him home after. The team at Summer Star Ranch are absolutely amazing, and are willing to do whatever it takes to ensure you have an absolutely perfect day. We did and we wouldn't change a single thing. Our guests loved everything about the Summer Star Ranch. It truly is where city chic meets the wild west. And if rain on your wedding day is good luck then we are set for life! Thank you all so much for everything you did to give us the most perfect day!

The wedding held at Summer Star Ranch was the most beautiful wedding I have been to. It was a weekend-long event with activities keeping everybody busy. Nights by the bon fire or a live country band were ideal for kicking back in the mountains, under the stars (which might I add are breathtaking since there is no light pollution there). On the day of the actual wedding, I was curious to see how they would set it up. Needless to say, they blew me away AGAIN. Everything was planned out down to the tiny details and even though the ceremony took place near the open field, there was still a clever way to keep the bride concealed from the groom, don't want any bad luck of course! It honestly was the type of wedding I dream of having some day.

Getting married at the Summer Star Ranch was by far the best decision I could have made for my wedding. I was hesitant at first, when my fiancé suggested it, but our NYC guests were floored by the exquisite combination of elegance and wild west. I had Starr handle all of the planning and she has such beautiful and imaginative taste. All of the vendors she used were top notch and very professional. She created a uniquely romantic and enjoyable event for us! Truly unforgettable for us, and our guests!

I was the groomsmen in the Memorial Day wedding weekend at the Summer Star Ranch. We ALL had an awesome time...I don't think there was a person who attended that didn't say it was by far the best wedding they had ever attended. Horseback riding, quad riding, fishing, hiking, bonfires, train tour, Gates of the Mountain boat tour, movie nite under the stars...it was more like a vacation than a wedding...5 stars are definitely not enough!

I was an August bride (a destination weddding for my now-husband and I) at the ranch and my weekend was everything that we had hoped for and more! We chose a western theme BBQ for our first night and it was amazing!!! The pictures of my guests at a bonfire under that Montana sky make me smile every time we look at them. And then we had our dream ceremony in the pasture followed by our reception...we danced under the tent & under those stars...Thank you Summer Star for everything....

We attended a wedding at Summer Star Ranch in May and it was absolutely amazing. The setting was beyond breathtaking and the wedding was so beautiful. It was an entire weekend event where we rode horses and quads, fly fished and even learned to square dance. There was a fun BBq themed dinner the night before where we danced to a country band. The ceremony was so gorgeous with the amazing Montana backdrop at the ranch and the reception under the tent was unbelievable. It was a weekend we will never forget.
